A design method for morphological filters

Lui, Guan-Liang 23 August 2010 (has links)
The purpose of Morphology is to capture features and attributes of image, such as boundaries and contours. It has been widely applied to computer vision, the analysis and processing of image and even industry examinations and medical image processing. The reason why the Morphology is widely applied is that we can use its simple structure elements to process images, and get up to our requirements. Therefore, it¡¦s become our primary study to find out those suitable structure elements. In this paper, we used the laws of judging the multiple mask relationship to find out filters which came up to the condition that we set, and also came up with an efficient way to find out filters that we want to get.

In chapter two, it treats some concepts of translation and adaptation, so that a hybrid concept between the two types, which is used by the author and which is called adaptatranslation. Comments about other translations and adaptations of the play in question. The third chapter is devoted to the comparative study between the mask and the puppets, involving the scenic function and reaction of the audience, and comments the history of the Puppet Theater in the world. It also presents the process of confection of the puppets, setting and play-acting of other plays of the Paideia Group. Another chapter brings an annotated summary of the comedy Lysistrata, the historical context in which the play is inserted and the importance of the revival of this play by the Paideia Group currently. In the end, describes the process of adaptatranslation of the play for the Puppet genre in the regional parlance, and then exposing the adaptatranslated text. The results of this experiment will exposed in the conclusion, which will confirm the popularization of the classic play, even being play-acting in the genre Puppets Theater and in another cultural context.

Bergström, Elin January 2022 (has links)
During December 2021-Feb 2022 I did makeup and wig design at Dalateatern and Örebro Teater for the play Jekyll vs Hyde. What I wanted to explore during production was: "How can I, as a mask designer, create something that is challenging and exciting to watch while requiring as little effort as possible from the actors to whom I am going to hand over the design?"  I wanted to find solutions where I could feel proud of my design while at the same time I wanted to feel confident that what I created could be managed in a simple and sustainable way.

Potential of Unmanned Aerial Systems Imagery Relative to Landsat 8 Imagery in the Lower Pearl River Basin

Van Horn, John William 09 December 2016 (has links)
Hurricane Isaac’s landfall on the coast of Louisiana spawned a hydrological research project between Mississippi State University (MSU), the Northern Gulf Institute (NGI), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the Lower Pearl River Basin (LPRB). Unmanned aerial systems data collection missions were scheduled every two months in the LPRB. This research provides a comparison between Landsat-8 imagery and corresponding UAS imagery with regards to the four remote sensing resolutions: spatial, spectral, radiometric, and temporal. Near-infrared (NIR) imagery from each platform was compared by land-water masks and statistical comparisons. A classification method known as natural breaks with Jenks Optimization determined threshold values between land and water for each image. Land-water masks revealed substantial differences between areas of land and water in comparing imagery. The overall difference in average land and water percentages between the two platforms was 1.77%; however, a larger percentage was 20.41% in a single comparison.

SOCIAL DISCOUNTING AND THE PROBABILITY OF MASK WEARING

Reidner, Emma Catherine 01 August 2022 (has links)
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted nearly everyone around the world, and it has led to a unique opportunity to draw new conclusions regarding social behavior. During the international COVID-19 pandemic, many recommendations have been established as potential mitigations to prevent the spread of the virus, perhaps most controversial, mask wearing. The present study aimed to identify the extent to which the degree of social discounting correlates with lower probabilities of mask wearing in individuals. It was hypothesized that the greater the social discounting, the less likely subjects would be to wear masks and conversely, the lower the social discounting the more likely subjects would be to wear masks.

An Analysis of Catcher's Mask Performance to Attenuate Head Accelerations

Shain, Kellen Saul 07 May 2010 (has links)
The goals of this study were to measure the ability of catcher's masks to attenuate head accelerations upon impact with a baseball, and to compare these head accelerations to established injury thresholds for concussions. Testing involved using a pneumatic cannon to shoot baseballs at an instrumented (3-2-2-2 accelerometer array) Hybrid III headform (a 50th percentile male head and neck) with and without a catcher's mask on the head. The ball speed was controlled from approximately 26.8 – 35.8 m/s (60 – 80 mph) and regulation NCAA baseballs were used. Peak linear resultant acceleration was 140 – 180 g without a mask and 16 – 30 g with a mask over the range of balls speeds investigated. Peak angular resultant acceleration was 19500 – 25700 rad/sec2 without a mask and 2250 – 3230 rad/sec2 with a mask. The Head Injury Criterion was 93 – 181 without a mask and 3 – 13 with a mask and the Severity index was 110 – 210 without a mask and 3 – 15 with a mask. Catcher's masks reduced head acceleration metrics by approximately 85% when baseballs were impacted with just the headform. Head accelerations with a catcher's mask were substantially lower than contemporary injury thresholds, yet evidence indicates that baseball impacts to the mask still result in concussions. / Master of Science
