No. of bitstreams: 1 Raquel Alves Cassoli.pdf: 1918988 bytes, checksum: fa3f55a129e594ff6ac9af8dde630bb2 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-10-19 / Fundação São Paulo - FUNDASP / This thesis stems from the concerns of the researcher about the meanings of success and/or failure in school inclusion/exclusion situations reported both by teachers and by pupils in the school space. This is because it is known that, socially, success and failure are meanings of ideological form, constituting meanings by pupils, and teachers not articulated the fame, money and merit or rejection, denial and failure, for example. Considering the school, as described by Charlot (2013), a place that plays the ideology, this research aims to, in general, to capture and analyze the production process of the meanings, i.e. the senses and meanings of teachers and students about failure and/or school success in situations of inclusion/exclusion in different realities, as well as the relations established between them. For both used focus groups held with teachers and students, at different times, a public school in the city of São Paulo and a private school in the State of São Paulo in Brazil. The theoretical framework that guides and methodologically this is the study of Psychology Historical Partner, which is based on dialectical and historical materialism, especially through its precursors Russians: Vygotsky, Luria and Leontiev. The reference for the analysis of the study opted for the test procedure and interpretation called nuclei of meaning (AGUIAR; OZELLA 2013; AGUIAR; SOARES; MACHADO, 2015). In the analysis of data built success push your notion personal fulfilment and the feeling of happiness that acts as a currency that assigns the value of success. These mark the notions and experiences qualify the capitalist society. In case of inclusion of disabled children in regular education, the effort needs to be increased and the process loads the suffering political exclusion itself unethical. The study subjects attach a success the disabled that is revealed as part of a process, which is not reached in your completeness and is not regarded as well-deserved achieve happiness. The school performance as a learning and development process is little considered, once the mark of success is given by the result reached as good grades and exams / A presente tese origina-se das inquietações da pesquisadora acerca das significações de sucesso e/ou fracasso em situações de inclusão/exclusão escolar relatadas tanto por professores quanto por alunos no espaço escolar. Essas noções marcam as vivências escolares e qualificam a sociedade capitalista.

Death education in secondary schools in the United States of America : a religious perspective

Ruffin, Ro Turner 09 1900 (has links)
This work was undertaken with a view to developing a textbook for United States secondary schools on the subject of death and dying through a religious lens. The purpose of this work is to provide high school teens with the means of coping with loss and a foundation for crafting their own meaning of life and death. Taking a close look at death attitudes among young people in the United States, as well as high school faculty and staff for the purpose of determining whether or not death education can be provided for public high school students, the work starts from the premise that said death education, using a religious model, should be provided for teenagers because the religious model provides the necessary elements of idea, ritual, and community, so necessary for building a world-view. Research was conducted in the form of survey and historical review to determine the efficacy of the proposed course of study. Upon analysis of the available information on death education history and course offering, as well as analysis of the survey results, the conclusion was reached that the provision of death education in the nation‟s public high schools would go a long way to reducing death anxiety amongst United States teenagers, and also give the adolescents a model for creating their own sense of meaning for all of life that includes death. / Religious Studies and Arabic / D. No. of bitstreams: 1 Elenir Fagundes Santos Freitas.pdf: 1249516 bytes, checksum: ca5dfd56a7211ccaf4c39bc378c42cad (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-09-20 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / The school management team’s role is fundamental for the construction of the pedagogical-political project. Mobilizing educators so that they reflect upon how racial relations are configured in the school environment, stimulating the construction of new learning in the ethnic-racial field, contributes to overcoming racism in school and quality education. The present research has as objective to apprehend the meanings attributed by management teams regarding racial equality relations in the school environment, having as locus two municipal schools in São Bernardo do Campo. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with two management teams (school principals and school pedagogical coordinators) for this study. The study was outlined from the literature review of researchers like Munanga (2005), Gomes (2012), Ribeiro (2018) and Ronca (2016), settled in the methodological and theoretical reasoning of sociohistorical psychology (BOCK, 2009) and supported by dialectical-historical materialism method. During the interview, the management teams’ meanings concerning racism phenomenon in Brazilian society and how racial relations are established in the school environment, the activity carried out by educators in the ethnic-racial field, as well as possibilities for overcoming the phenomenon in school are discussed. The analysis was conducted through the development of the pre-indicators, indicators and Nuclei of Meaning from Aguiar and Ozella (2006). From the narratives, it was identified that racism in the school environment presents itself in a veiled, naturalized way or reduced to bullying. There is an absence of reflection on the subject at school, and an omission regarding the care provided to black children who experience racial inequality. Racial conflicts are resolved without reflecting on their causes and there is also an absence of regards toward the ethnic-racial field in textbooks, legitimizing racism in the school space. Other findings reveal the importance of unveiling the phenomenon in the school space through the training of educators. The development of work with the theme on a day-to-day basis and attention to the care provided to children who undergo racial slurs were pointed out. It was also revealed that the LDB implementation through the law 10639/3, contemplating African-Brazilian and African history and culture contents in the pedagogical-political project, expands the cultural capital of children and enables the overcoming of racism at school / O papel da equipe gestora é fundamental na construção do projeto político pedagógico.

Meaning-making post an intensive experiential event

Abrahams, Fayruz 29 October 2020 (has links)
Group relations events are intended to enable transformation through learning, but such collective experiential events are not explicitly focused on enabling individual group members to derive meaning from them. This research aims to explicate individual learning from the experiences of a group relations event, in order to formulate a process for meaning-making post an intensive experiential event. Literature reviewed provides construct definitions of systems psychodynamic aspects, as well as insight, meaning-making, coaching methods and other approaches to facilitating meaning-making. Systems psychodynamics is the theoretical paradigm that informs a qualitative phenomenological research approach. Data analysis adopted hermeneutic phenomenology to allow for the interpretation of the rich data collected. Multiple case studies were adopted using multi-pronged data collection methods, including semi-structured interviews conducted before the event, as well as both a focus group and Free Association Narrative Interviews (FANI) conducted after the event. The results are reported by case, and this is followed with an interpretation of results by various systems psychodynamic themes. Furthermore, the relationship between personality types and defences mechanisms, with the associative techniques to use for each, have been set forth as additional findings in the thesis. The research hypothesis produced by the study is a meaning-making model to facilitate post-group relations event reflections and debriefing, with the aim of enabling insight formation, learning and adaption by individuals who have participated in such events. / Psychology / Ph. Intertextuality reinterpreted : a cognitive linguistics approach with specific reference to conceptual blending

Van Heerden, Chantelle 30 June 2008 (has links)
In this dissertation, I investigate the cognitive processes integral to intertextual readings by referring to the cognitive linguistics framework known as conceptual blending. I refer to different genres of intertextual texts and then explain these intertexts in terms of cognitive principles and processes, such as conceptual blending networks. By applying the framework of conceptual blending to intertexts within different genres, I suggest that the underlying cognitive processes are universal for the interpretation of any type of intertextual text. My findings indicate that conceptual blending underpins intertextuality which is cognitive, creative and dynamic in nature. This means that the meaning we construct from intertexts is dependent on the context in which they appear and cannot be studied in isolation. Investigating intertextual texts from a cognitive linguistics perspective reveals new inferences (such as the influence of implicit knowledge as a type of intertext) and the creativity involved in the meaning-making process. / Linguistics / M.A. (Linguistics)
