Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur en diskursiv berättelse skrivs fram i Aftonbladets granskning av fackförbundet Kommunal i januari 2016. Artikelserien handlade om fackliga företrädares bristande samklang mellan ord och handling. Politiker i regeringsställning drogs in och det fanns gott om aktörer som offentligt uttryckte sin kritik. En dryg vecka efter att artikelserien startat annonserade förbundsordföranden sin avgång. Materialet utgjordes av Aftonbladets pappersutgåva under perioden 13 – 21 januari 2016. Undersökningen genomfördes med en kombination av kvantitativ och kvalitativ metod. Först gjordes en kvantitativ innehållsanalys för att skapa översikt över materialet. Därefter gjordes en kvalitativ text- respektive bildanalys för att komma åt den diskursiva berättelsen. För den kvalitativa textanalysen användes modeller och begrepp från medieretorik, diskursanalys och retorik. I den kvalitativa bildanalysen användes en modell byggd på semiotik. Undersökningen pekar mot en diskursiv berättelse som konstrueras av följande delar: Två övergripande teman, ett samspel mellan nyhets- och opinionstexter, en tydlig och närmast arketypisk rollfördelning, fakta som framhäver konflikter och kontraster samt dramatiska effekter i språk och bild. Nyhetsberättelsen om ”Kommunals förlorade heder” överensstämmer i hög grad med John B. Thompsons fem kännetecken för en politisk skandal. Aftonbladet presenterar en konflikt som utvecklas genom komplikationer och polariseringar mellan inblandade parter, vilka i enlighet med triangelhypotesen tvingas reagera offentligt på varandras agerande. / The aim of this study was to examine how a discursive narrative is performed in Aftonbladets investigations on the trade union Kommunal in January 2016. Trade union representative’s lack of consistency between word and action were depicted in a series of articles. Politicians representing the government were involved and there were plenty of actors voicing their criticism. About a week after the start of the series, the chairwoman of the union announced her resignation. The sample consisted of Aftonbladets printed edition between the 13th and the 21st of January 2016. The study was performed with a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. It began with a content analysis to get an overview of the material. After that, qualitative text respectively image analyses were carried out to get at the discursive narrative. For the qualitative text analysis methodology and concepts from media rhetoric, discourse analysis and classical rhetoric were used. The image analysis was carried out with a methodology based on semiotics. The study points towards a discursive narrative constructed of the following parts: Two general themes, interaction between news and commentary items, clear and almost archetypal roles, facts utilized to highlight conflicts and contrasts, and dramatic effects in language and images. The news narrative about ”The lost honor of Kommunal” conforms to a great degree to John B. Thompson’s five characteristics of a political scandal. Aftonbladet presents a conflict developed through complications and polarizations between the actors concerned who according to the triangle hypothesis are made to react publicly on each other.

According to the IPCC sea levels can rise by up to one meter in the next century and maybe even more depending on both individual lifestyle choices and policy making on a societal level. An episode from the Swedish Rafio P3's podcast series, P3 Dystopia, has been investigated as a communication effort to spread knoowledge about the climate issue and its consequences. The episode chosen for this study deals with the sea level rise and its threat on civilizations across the globe. The podcast is part of the Swedish public serive campaign prior to the election to parliament in September of 2018. Because of this, the episode has been examined using classical rhetorical theories to identify what strategies it utilizes to promote sustainable behavior. One of the key purposes of this study is to investigate how the producers describe and dramatize the sea level rise and its aftermath. Due to this the episode was examined through a storytelling perspective considering what basic story design structures it uses. This study is based on research on risk communication about climate change and how they should be communicated to achieve the best possible effect. The research considers emotion regulation straetgies as the missing link in effective communication about climate change. Since early 21st century most of the research conducted on this area has been focused on using fear as a motivator for behavioral change, but in recent years some scientists say that fear is not enough. This study aims to investigate what sort of emotions the podcast episode uses to capture and influence its listeners and in what way these emotions are conveyed.

We live in a world driven by fast technologies. The same technologies that make information more accessible have created a dilemma by which the same conduits have also enabled access to mass amounts of counter-factual information. It is the assertion of this thesis project that counter- factual information poses a growing risk to the security and stability in liberal democratic societies and warrants a proportional response. The body of work which follows will explore what I have characterized as an information crisis. The information crisis, so presented, is a multi-faceted issue. It's constituent causes and outcomes concern both scholars of security studies and sociology. To address breadth of scope and immediacy of the crisis, the conceptual framework purposed in this project offers an interface between actor-network theory and security studies (ANT-security interface). Actor-network theory is a material-semiotic approach that preferences engagement with human and technological actants as an assemblage. Or, in other words, a network of relationships. The first chapter will introduce the dimensions of the information crisis, providing relevant examples of how counter-factual information embodies a human, and societal security issue. Uppsatsen är en retorisk studie av Ebba Buschs och Nyamko Sabunis kommunikation på Instagram ur ett identifikationsperspektiv. Studiens material är Instagraminlägg från partiledarnas Instagramprofiler och undersökningen studerar vilka tekniker de använder för att skapa igenkänning och social gemenskap. Något som är viktigt på sociala medier är personlig närvaro och att ge intryck av sin privatperson. Uppsatsen undersöker även hur Busch och Sabuni skildrar sin individuella person i inläggen.  Studien är en komparativ studie av de två svenska partiledarna och syftet med studien är att studera vilka retoriska tekniker som används för att skapa identifikation och gemenskap. Det är intressant att studera eftersom sociala medier används som en källa till social kontakt och igenkänning. Huvudteorin är Burkes identifikationsteori och studien utgår även ifrån teorier om politisk kommunikation.  Studien visar att intrycket av transparens är viktigt för att skildra sin privatperson och att det finns skillnader mellan Buschs och Sabunis inlägg. Busch flöde ger intryck av henne som privatperson, vilket är en viktig strategi när det gäller att skapa band med väljarna. Medan Sabunis flöde ger intryck av henne som partiledare och hennes vision inom politiken. Studien visar att partiledarna använder olika retoriska och kommunikativa strategier för att skapa gemenskap och igenkänning.
