On the limits of labour mobility within the EU / On the limits of labour mobility within the EU

Jelínek, Martin January 2014 (has links)
This Master thesis deals with labour mobility and aims to uncover the main drivers influencing the flows of workers within the European Union (EU). It first provides an extensive overview of labour market, labour mobility and legal framework in the EU. Then it discusses several theories and models dealing with labour mobility. The main part of this thesis consists in empirical analysis of labour flows within EU-25 countries. This analysis is meant to provide statistical evidence of relevant mobility drivers. Contrarily to similar works, this thesis takes into account not only economic and financial factors, but also social, psychological, linguistic and other non-tangible factors that might play important role in determining the labour flows within the EU. The thesis further focuses on specific mobility incentives of the Old and the New Member States. Based on results of the empirical model and the regression analysis, the thesis concludes by discussing the limits of labour mobility and suggesting a remedy aimed at enhancing it.

"Druhá generace" Rusů v Evropě: komparativní analýza etnické identity, mezinárodních vazeb a integračních vzorců u dětí ruských imigrantů v Praze a Paříži / Russian "second generation" in Europe : comparative analysis of integration patterns, national identity and transnational ties of the children of Russian migrants in Prague and Paris

Gavrilova, Vera January 2015 (has links)
A master dissertation is devoted to the comparison of Russian second-generation migrants in two European capitals: Prague and Paris. It analyses ethnical identity of the children of Russian immigrants, existence of transnational ties with the homeland of their parents as well as their integration patterns. The study is based on in-depth interviews with the Russian second generation adolescents and their parents. The analytical part is preceded by a review of the main theoretical concepts used in the study with the focus on the existing theories of migrants' integration in general and second-generation integration in particular. Despite the fact that the results of the study can be generalised neither to the entire Europe, nor to the whole Czech Republic or France, the author tries to outline the main similarities and dissimilarities between the populations of The Russian secondgeneration immigrants in two European capitals as well as between two generations of Russian migrants and brings information about the Russian "new second generation" in general that can be used for further researches or policy-making.

Sezónní vývoj a vertikální distribuce korýšů v hluboké stratifikované nádrži Josefův Důl v Jizerských horách / Seasonal dynamics and vertical distribution of Crustacea in the deep stratified reservoir Josefův Důl (the Jizera Mountains, Czech Republic)

Adámek, Radek January 2015 (has links)
The zooplankton of Josefův Důl, a large and deep drinking water reservoir recovering from acidification, develop in relation to the improving water chemistry but also predation by salmonid fish re-stocked at the end of the 1990s. Crustacea are represented by small numbers of several species only, and nothing is known about their distribution in the water column. Recently, picocyanobacteria Merismopedia sp. became dominant in the phytoplankton, which hampers substantially the treatability of the raw water. The aim of the thesis is to describe the seasonal dynamics and vertical distribution of Crustacea in the Josefův Důl reservoir, together with parameters of the environment, and to study their possible diurnal vertical migrations in the summer period.

Koordinace sociálního zabezpečení v Evropě a její mikroekonomické a makroekonomické implikace / Microeconomic and Macroeconomic implications of Social Security Coordination in Europe

Tepperová, Jana January 2011 (has links)
The doctoral thesis focuses on international coordination of social security systems. It covers both theoretical and practical role of coordination and also brings relevant empirical evidence about impacts of social security coordination on international labour migration. The gravity migration model is used on panel data set for 30 European countries from 1998 to 2007 for empirical evidence. Presented results show positive effect of social security coordination on migration and confirms important role of coordination in European integration policy. Analysis of labour tax cost and how it is influenced by the coordination of social security is also proposed in the thesis. Different migration structures and its tax costs are analyzed for this purpose in 2003 and 2004, the year prior the CR joining the EU and the year after. The results of the analysis did not show any decline of the tax cost in all of the migration structures after the coordination of social security was applied in the CR.

Východní Německo 1989-2009:integrace a hospodářský vývoj / East Germany 1989-2009: Integration and economic development

Říšová, Zuzana January 2009 (has links)
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the area of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) experienced a short economic and politic transformation that resulted in reunification with the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). The original optimistic expectations of a fast and significant catching-up effect, however, soon disappeared. Even if enormously supported by West Germany, twenty years after German reunification the region has not achieved much better economic advance than the economically most successful countries in the middle and eastern part of Europe. The paper analyses the real state of the eastern German economy and its development in the last 20 years using three basic problem areas: industrial base, migration streams from the eastern to the western part of Germany and the labour market. During the course of the last 20 years, these areas has belonged to the most visible economic problems of the eastern part of Germany.

Migrační krize a její socioekonomické důsledky / Migration Crisis and its Socio-economic Consequences

Kubát, David January 2019 (has links)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of the socio-economic consequences of the current migration wave in Europe based on the comparison of individual macroeconomic indicators in the member states of the European Union, which were most affected by migration, whether as transit or destination country. The monitored indicators are for example GDP growth, unemployment rate, growth of public expenditures and others. The first part of the thesis defines the theoretical foundations of migration based on sociological theories and defines the key concepts for the topic, such as economic migration, migrant, integration. The second, practical part of the thesis, focuses on monitoring the specific socioeconomic consequences of the migration crisis for selected countries and evaluates its pros and cons. It follows from this assessment that migration to Europe is an economically sustainable phenomenon. The work focuses more on the possibilities and positives or negatives of the integration of migrants into the labor market, also due to the potential threat of an aging Europe in the future. Using several foreign studies and models, it demonstrates the need to change the integration of migrants to benefit the European countries' pension system. It also pays attention to the social and political consequences of...

Dopady změny klimatu na obyvatelstvo Srí Lanky a adaptační strategie / Climate change impacts on population of Sri Lanka and adaptation strategies

Molnárová, Bára January 2018 (has links)
The main aim of the study is to analyse households' adaptation measures to the climate change and its impacts in Sri Lanka such as extreme weather events - especially floods, landslides, heavy rains, droughts or water deficiency. Another objective of this study is to identify how locals perceive climate change impacts, what they think the specific causes are, what the implications and consequences are and what are their impacts on their households in selected regions in Sri Lanka. I also tried to identify which changes of climate they personally observe (if any) and what they think about it. The case study is based on my research, which I realized in July - September 2016 in Sri Lanka. I focused on two neighbour districts: one of them is Anuradhapura district, which is on the northwest of the island and it is in the dry climatic zone of the island. The second district is Matale, which is located in highlands and there is more humidity. I examined the perception of local residents to changes in the climate, which is, whether they realize that changes are caused by the global climate change and that the situation will deteriorate further, or whether they have another explanation. In connection with this, I also examined whether they have any plans or predictions of the future and how they adapt for...
