: En fallstudie för en mobilapp för en alpin skidanläggning / Do you want to share your location information : A case study for a mobile app for an alpine ski resort

Nylander, Carl, Munkhammar, Markus January 2020 (has links)
It is a challenge to collect data on visitors' movement patterns via a mobile app for an alpine ski resort. Because gathering of location information is based on voluntariness. One way to motivate more people to share their location information is to offer the features that users expects or want in such a mobile app. This study aims to investigate what features a mobile app should include in order for users to share their location information. The research strategy used is case study and the data collection method is interviews. 22 alpine skiers were interviewed and in addition, an expert on the topic of mobile solutions with experience of leading development of location-based mobile apps has been interviewed. The interviews generated qualitative data that was analyzed thematically. The results presented by the study show that users are positive about sharing their location information if they receive something significant in return. The results are presented in two parts, one with general needs that the overwhelming majority desired, and one with interest-driven needs. Resultaten presenteras i två delar.

Monetization when the time is limited : A multiple case study on temporary mobile apps

Gubbels, Jeroen Henricus Hubertus, Langer, Sophie Verona January 2020 (has links)
A successful mobile app monetization strategy is the foundation of any sustainable future business. App developers, in this regard, face the demanding challenge of building, maintaining and monetizing this strategy respectively. Factors, such as users' increasing unwillingness to pay for an app, impacts monetization methods negatively which makes current monetization strategies ever more challenging. Particularly for temporary apps, this phenomenon is ever influential. This research therefore addresses how companies can maximize the monetization of users if the usage of the app is limited by time. The researchers examined existing literature on app monetization and discovered that no research has been conducted on temporary apps yet, which highlights a specific research gap in a changing business environment. By conducting expert interviews on app monetization in combination with a multiple case study, investigating four temporary apps, this research found out that temporary apps do not monetize differently than non-temporary apps. This paper uncovered that there is a trend happening within the mobile app monetization industry that shifts from user-based monetization, where the user pays for the app, towards a partner-based monetization strategy. In this regard, external companies provide the revenue for the app. Particularly interesting is the potential of mobile data monetization, which is invisible for the user, thus providing a valuable strategy for the company. Comprising all executed research and insights gathered, the paper built the Mobile App Monetization Model. It examines the challenges and opportunities companies face during their monetization and which success and goal metrics are influential in their decision-making. It summarizes the current most important topics in the mobile app monetization field.

A Security Related and Evidence-Based Holistic Ranking and Composition Framework for Distributed Services

Chowdhury, Nahida Sultana 05 1900 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / The number of smart mobile devices has grown at a significant rate in recent years. This growth has resulted in an exponential number of publicly available mobile Apps. To help the selection of suitable Apps, from various offered choices, the App distribution platforms generally rank/recommend Apps based on average star ratings, the number of installs, and associated reviews ― all the external factors of an App. However, these ranking schemes typically tend to ignore critical internal factors (e.g., bugs, security vulnerabilities, and data leaks) of the Apps. The AppStores need to incorporate a holistic methodology that includes internal and external factors to assign a level of trust to Apps. The inclusion of the internal factors will describe associated potential security risks. This issue is even more crucial with newly available Apps, for which either user reviews are sparse, or the number of installs is still insignificant. In such a scenario, users may fail to estimate the potential risks associated with installing Apps that exist in an AppStore. This dissertation proposes a security-related and evidence-based ranking framework, called SERS (Security-related and Evidence-based Ranking Scheme) to compare similar Apps. The trust associated with an App is calculated using both internal and external factors (i.e., security flaws and user reviews) following an evidence-based approach and applying subjective logic principles. The SERS is formalized and further enhanced in the second part of this dissertation, resulting in its enhanced version, called as E-SERS (Enhanced SERS). These enhancements include an ability to integrate any number of sources that can generate evidence for an App and consider the temporal aspect and reputation of evidence sources. Both SERS and E-SERS are evaluated using publicly accessible Apps from the Google PlayStore and the rankings generated by them are compared with prevalent ranking techniques such as the average star ratings and the Google PlayStore Rankings. The experimental results indicate that E-SERS provides a comprehensive and holistic view of an App when compared with prevalent alternatives. E-SERS is also successful in identifying malicious Apps where other ranking schemes failed to address such vulnerabilities. In the third part of this dissertation, the E-SERS framework is used to propose a trust-aware composition model at two different granularities. This model uses the trust score computed by E-SERS, along with the probability of an App belonging to the malicious category, as the desired attributes for selecting a composition as the two granularities. Finally, the trust-aware composition model is evaluated with the average star rating parameter and the trust score. A holistic approach, as proposed by E-SERS, to computer a trust score will benefit all kinds of Apps including newly published Apps that follow proper security measures but initially struggle in the AppStore rankings due to a lack of a large number of reviews and ratings. Hence, E-SERS will be helpful both to the developers and users. In addition, the composition model that uses such a holistic trust score will enable system integrators to create trust-aware distributed systems for their specific needs.

Alata Acuache, Estefany Haydee, Calderón Chávez, Mercy Elizabeth, Mujica Pastrana, Alfredo Javier, Ortiz Licas, Lucia Patricia, Romero Baltazar, Jennifer Lesly 11 July 2020 (has links)
Throughout the life stage, women go through certain physical experiences to shape their femininity, such as menstruation, childbirth, lactation, pregnancy and menopause. Studies on the subject explain that women face complex diseases and others less severe, some diseases are: ovarian cancer, fibroids, polycystic ovaries, infections, among others. Being infections the main cause that leads women to the gynecologist, according to the Inem, in addition, it is known that almost 7 thousand women go to a gynecological consultation every month, of them about 70% go only for infections (Álvarez et al., 2017). For this reason, Ammy was created, a business idea that seeks to solve problems related to female reproductive health and that works through a mobile application. The service consists of providing menstrual monitoring with an alert of normality or abnormality of the menstrual cycle, with the option to enter the symptoms, thus alerting the user when her discomfort requires going to a gynecologist, after which, suggesting a list of doctors to make your medical appointments by the Ammy app. Although there are several foreign applications on the market, the truth is that none of them allow virtual medical consultations. In addition, there are thousands of women in Lima who are willing to pay for this service and for subscriptions to monitor their menstrual cycle. Without a doubt this business is innovative and very profitable, demonstrated in its profitability indicators of this work. / Trabajo de investigación

Venta de medidor digital de GLP y aplicación móvil / Sale of digital GLP gas meter and mobile app

Bocanegra Farfán, Silvia Lorena, Herrera Fernandez, Amy, Platas Muga, Mariela, Ponce de León Rodriguez, Tamara Nicole 13 July 2020 (has links)
Changes brought by new technology have made many businesses worry more about keeping control of their processes and constantly search for new ways to reduce cost through it. That is why innovation is an important point in these changes we call digital transformation – understood as the digital capacity of processes, products and assets to improve efficiency –allowing companies to find new ways to achieve their objectives. All the facts mentioned before, were the key point to identify a business opportunity and the right market niche to develop it. Businesses like restaurants, hotels and other service providers, with a need of GLP gas to operate, don’t have a precise way to measure their consumption nor know when they need to call for a refill to avoid unwanted pauses on their operations. The presented business plan proposes the marketing of digital GLP gas meter compatible with stationary tanks under 1,320 GLN capacity. This meter will work along with a custom designed mobile app, letting the business owner know in real time the tank occupancy level, as well as the present consumption, monthly average and estimated date to place a new purchase order for a refill. Considering this, we can conclude the present proposal covers and exceeds the needs and expectations of the target market. / Trabajo de investigación

Use of a Smartphone Application in the Treatment of Depression : The New Wave of Digital Tools in Psychological Treatment

Ly, Kien Hoa January 2015 (has links)
Internet-delivered programs based on cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) have during the past decade shown to work in an effective way for the treatment of depression. Due to its accessibility and independence of time and location, smartphone-based CBT might represent the next generation of digital interventions. Depression is an affective disorder that affects as many as 350 million people worldwide. However, with CBT, depression can be treated, but access to this treatment is scarce due to limited health care resources and trained therapists. As a result of this, health care could highly benefit from the use of smartphones for delivering cost-effective treatment that can be made available to a large part of the population who suffer from depression. One treatment that should be especially suitable for the smartphone format is behavioral activation (BA), since it has strong empirical support as well as the benefits of being flexible and rather simple. The overall aim of the thesis was to test and further develop a BA smartphone application, as well as to build a method for how this smartphone application could be used in a comprehensive and effective way in depression treatment. To fulfill this aim, four studies were conducted. The results showed that smartphones have the ability to be used in an effective way in the treatment of depression, including as an add-on to traditional face-to-face sessions. The results also showed that the smartphone format was experienced as a portable and flexible way of accessing the treatment – and thus could be more present in everyday life. In conclusion, there is reason to believe that smartphones will be integrated even further in society and therefore may serve an important role in future mental health care. Since the first indications reveal that depression can be treated by means of a supported smartphone application, it is highly possible that applications for other mental health problems will follow. Furthermore, in this thesis, the same smartphone application has been tested in three different ways and there is potential to apply smartphones in a range of other formats, such as in relapse prevention and as a way to intensify treatment during periods when needed. From a psychiatric research point of view, as my research group has been doing trials on guided internet treatment for more than 15 years, it is now time to move to the next generation of information technology – smartphones.

Trying to become "The World’s Cosiest Airport" : A Case Study on Customer Experience Management from a Service Delivery Network perspective

Bodderas, Chris January 2015 (has links)
The practical relevancy of Customer Experience Management is increasing. The research on the topic has still not found common ground in all areas. Most scholars still fail to see the advantage of adopting a broader perspective of Customer Experience Management and integrating factors that lie out of the focal company’s control into the scope of the conceptual framework. The aim of this thesis is to clarify the principal elements that constitute Customer Experience Management and explore what role the Service Delivery Network plays in this context and how it can be managed more effectively with the help of IT/IS. To explore the problem empirically, a case study approach was used. The author had the possibility to investigate the Passenger Experience activities of Tallinn Airport which has the unique goal of becoming "The World’s Cosiest Airport". Summarizing the findings of the thesis very briefly, the following things should be noted. First, the case study has shown empirically that passengers’ experiences with different companies in a Service Delivery Network interfere with each other. Second, the findings suggest that Partner Management is an important part of Passenger Experience Management. Third, IT and mobile IT in particular are good means to manage Passenger Experiences. Especially, mobile applications have a huge potential to support a customer’s self-management and co-create an experience. A potential avenue for future research would be 1. to take on the passenger perspective on the topic and 2. to replicate the study or at least parts of it at other airports to allow cross-case analyses.

Inomhuspositionering och applikationsanalys : Sammanställning och visualisering av relevant data vid event / Indoor Positioning and Application Analytics : Compilation and Visualization of Relevant Data at Events

Nyström, Björn January 2015 (has links)
The main task of this thesis was to create a software prototype of an analysing tool that would work as a compliment to IT-Maskinens event application, which is used as a digital tool for events. The requirement for the prototype was that it would be able to identify the user, gather relevant data from a possible storage location and visualize this in an aesthetically pleasing manner.   The thesis contained two different parts, investigation and implementation. The investigation included to determine which tool that would be used for the visualization of the data, which data likeminded companies thought was important and which information that was possible to extract from IT-Maskinens event application and indoor positioning system. How the software prototype was going to be implemented was also something that was investigated, in terms of which programming environment, library and language that could meet the requirements that were set for the prototype.   The implementation part of the thesis included the creation of a software prototype in ASP.NET MVC5 and Google Chart Tools. The creation of the software prototype was created using the programming languages C#, HTML, Razor, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery.

使用字串分析揭露iOS執行檔之動態載入類別 / Uncovering dynamically loaded classes of iOS executables with static string analysis

Lin, Jun Han Unknown Date (has links)
Millions of mobile apps have been published in Apple's AppStore with more than 15 billion downloads by iOS devices. In order to protect iOS users from malicious apps, Apple has strict policies which are used to eliminate apps before they can be published in the AppStore. In this paper we present a string analysis technique for iOS executables for statically checking policies that are related to dynamically loaded classes. In order to check that an app conforms to such a policy, it is necessary to determine the possible string values for the class name parameters of the functions that dynamically load classes. The first step of our approach is to construct the assembly for iOS executables using existing tools. We then extract flow information from the assembly code and construct control flow graphs (CFGs) of functions. We identify functions that dynamically load classes, and for each parameter that corresponds to a dynamically loaded class, we construct a dependency graph that shows the set of values that flow to that parameter. Finally, we conduct string analysis on these dependency graphs to determine all potential string values that these parameters can take, which identifies the set of dynamically loaded classes. Taking the intersection of these values with patterns that characterize Apple's app policies (such as private/sensitive APIs), we are able to detect potential policy violations. We analyzed more than 1300 popular apps from Apple's AppStore and checked them against Apple's policy about the use of private APIs and the identifier for Advertising (IDFA). Our tool extracted more than 37000 string dependency graphs from these applications and our analysis reported 208 apps that compose the corresponding API with strings and have potential IDFA violations. Our analysis also found 372 apps that could have compose the private class name with string and 236 apps that could have load the private framework with path string; and could violate the private API usage policy.
