The multi-agent paradigm aims to provide solutions to approach the growing complexity of software that should operate in non-predictable environments or exposed to fast changes. To obtain the benefits of automatic reuse in multi-agent system families, we need appropriate methods for the multi-agent paradigm, main study object of Multi-agent Domain Engineering. This work proposes GENMADEM, an ontology-based methodology for generative reuse in Multi-agent Domain Engineering whose main products are ontology-based domain models, Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) and application generators. It also contributes with ONTOGENMADEM, an ontology composed by an ontology and a plug-in to the ontology editor Protégé that supports the application of GENMADEM, aiding the analysis, design and implementation of DSLs. A case study that consists of the development of a DSL and a generator design for the domain of information filtering and retrieval is also presented with the goal of evaluation of the methodology. However, integrated development environments supporting all phases of agent-oriented development are still missing. MADAE-Pro is a process for the development and reuse of family of multi-agent systems and integrates two complementary process. One is based on Domain Engineering concepts, aiming in creating artifacts of reusable software in the development of an application family in a particular domain problem, and the other is based on Application Engineering, which guides the construction of applications based on reusable software artifacts previously produced in the Domain Engineering process. The environment includes the ONTORMAS ontology and, through inference rules and semantic search over its instances, automates the modeling tasks of the MADAE-Pro process. These features allow for the developer productivity gains and for maintaining the consistence of the knowledge-base, ensuring the success of the reuse in future applications. Many issues should be considered with this evolution, like security and reliability of communication. In this work, we propose a solution for secure communication and a solution for a reliable communication; both solutions are for multi-agent systems. These solutions adapt XML technologies and consist of several XML Specifications and RDF standard. For secure communication, we adapt the XML-DSig specification to provide integrity and digital signature; the XMLEnc specification is used to provide confidentiality through encryption, and the XKMS specification is used to provide PKI support. For reliable communication, we adapt the WS-RM specification that guarantees the message delivery. The RDF standard enables agents for exchanging messages using XML syntax. In this work, the tests with prototypes of the proposed solutions and comparisons with other solutions are also presented.

Resource-oriented mobile agent and software framework for the Internet of Things

Leppänen, T. (Teemu) 13 March 2018 (has links)
Abstract The Internet of Things vision proposes a global platform in an unforeseen scale for distributed applications that rely on data provided by interconnected resource-constrained things. In such large-scale systems, centralized control of system operation by a single component through vertical interactions becomes unfeasible. Ideally, decentralized control in the proximity of things enables to take into account the local dynamic resource availability and environmental characteristics that are used to optimize the application execution. To realize decentralization, capabilities for horizontal interactions, that complement the vertical interactions, and for opportunistic participation of things are needed. This thesis explores mobile agent technology to implement distributed Internet of Things applications that benefit from both vertical and horizontal interactions of the application components. First, a resource-oriented reactive mobile agent architecture and a software framework are presented. The framework facilitates RESTful interactions between agents and other system components and provides a REST-based interface to build opportunistic agent-based applications. Two agent platforms are presented that integrate resource-constrained things into the framework as mobile agent hosts. Second, mobile agent based mobile crowdsensing and edge computing applications are evaluated with large-scale simulations and real-world experiments. The results show that energy consumption is decreased in the participating things, in comparison with the existing approaches, by agent-based in-network data processing and control of the thing operation. This thesis makes a valuable contribution by enabling mobile agent operations in a heterogeneous set of resource-constrained things. The presented empirical evidence shows how mobile agent technology increases energy efficiency in distributed application execution. The presented mobile agent architecture and software framework potentially accelerate the utilization of mobile agent technology in the Internet of Things. Ohjelmistokehyksen osana toteutettiin kaksi mobiiliagentti-ohjelmistoalustaa resurssirajoitteisille sulautetuille laitteille. Työssä tarkasteltiin mobiiliagentti-pohjaisten Esineiden Internet-sovellusten energiatehokkuutta simuloinneilla sekä tosielämän kokeilla. Tarkastelun kohteeksi valittiin joukkoistettu mobiilihavainnointi sekä reunalaskennan ulottaminen resurssirajoitteisiin laitteisiin. Saadut tulokset osoittavat, että laitteiden energiankulutusta voidaan pienentää verrattuna aiemmin esitettyihin ratkaisuihin hyödyntämällä mobiiliagentteja tiedonkäsittelyyn laitteessa sekä laitteen toiminnan ohjaamiseen. Työssä esitetty resurssisuuntautunut mobiiliagenttiarkkitehtuuri sekä ohjelmistokehys edesauttavat mobiiliagentti-teknologian hyödyntämistä resurssirajoitteisissa sulautetuissa laitteissa. Tosielämän kokeista saadut tulokset osoittavat mobiiliagenttiteknologian hyötyjä hajautettujen sovellusten toteuttamisessa Esineiden Internetiin.

Prominent microblog users prediction during crisis events : using phase-aware and temporal modeling of users behavior / Prédiction des utilisateurs primordiaux des microblogs durant les situations de crise : modélisation temporelle des comportements des utilisateurs en fonction des phases des évènements

Bizid, Imen 13 December 2016 (has links)
During crisis events such as disasters, the need of real-time information retrieval (IR) from microblogs remains inevitable. However, the huge amount and the variety of the shared information in real time during such events over-complicate this task. Unlike existing IR approaches based on content analysis, we propose to tackle this problem by using user-centricIR approaches with solving the wide spectrum of methodological and technological barriers inherent to : 1) the collection of the evaluated users data, 2) the modeling of user behavior, 3) the analysis of user behavior, and 4) the prediction and tracking of prominent users in real time. In this context, we detail the different proposed approaches in this dissertation leading to the prediction of prominent users who are susceptible to share the targeted relevant and exclusive information on one hand and enabling emergency responders to have a real-time access to the required information in all formats (i.e. text, image, video, links) on the other hand. These approaches focus on three key aspects of prominent users identification. Firstly, we have studied the efficiency of state-of-the-art and new proposed raw features for characterizing user behavior during crisis events. Based on the selected features, we have designed several engineered features qualifying user activities by considering both their on-topic and off-topic shared information. Secondly, we have proposed a phase-aware user modeling approach taking into account the user behavior change according to the event evolution over time. This user modeling approach comprises the following new novel aspects (1) Modeling microblog users behavior evolution by considering the different event phases (2) Characterizing users activity over time through a temporal sequence representation (3) Time-series-based selection of the most discriminative features characterizing users at each event phase. Thirdly, based on this proposed user modeling approach, we train various prediction models to learn to differentiate between prominent and non-prominent users behavior during crisis event. The learning task has been performed using SVM and MoG-HMMs supervised machine learning algorithms. The efficiency and efficacy of these prediction models have been validated thanks to the data collections extracted by our multi-agents system MASIR during two flooding events who have occured in France and the different ground-truths related to these collections.

Architecture de COntrôle/COmmande dédiée aux systèmes Distribués Autonomes (ACO²DA) : application à une plate-forme multi-véhicules / Control and management architecture for distributed autonomous systems : application to multi-vehicles based platform

Mouad, Mehdi 31 January 2014 (has links)
The difficulty of coordinating a group of mobile robots is adressed in this thesis by investigating control architectures which aim to break task complexity. In fact, multi-robot navigation may become rapidly inextricable, specifically if it is made in hazardous and dynamical environment requiring precise and secure cooperation. The considered task is the navigation of a group of mobile robots in unknown environments in presence of (static and dynamic) obstacles. To overcome its complexity, it is proposed to divide the overall task into a set of basic behaviors/controllers (obstacle avoidance, attraction to a dynamical target, planning, etc.). Applied control is chosen among these controllers according to sensors information (camera, local sensors, etc.). The specificity of the theoretical approach is to combine the benefits of multi-controller control architectures to those of multi-agent organizational models to provide a high level of coordination between mobile agents-robots systems. The group of mobile robots is then coordinated according to different norms and specifications of the organizational model. Thus, activating a basic behavior in favor of another is done in accordance with the structural constraints of the robots in order to ensure maximum safety and precision of the coordinated movements between robots. Cooperation takes place through a supervisor agent (centralized) to reach the desired destination faster ; unexpected events are individually managed by the mobile agents/robots in a distributed way. To guarantee performance criteria of the control architecture, hybrid systems tolerating the control of continuous systems in presence of discrete events are explored. In fact, this control allows coordinating (by discrete part) the different behaviors (continuous part) of the architecture. The development of ROBOTOPIA simulator allowed us to illustrate each contribution by many results of simulations.

Co-simulation redondante d'échelles de modélisation hétérogènes pour une approche phénoménologique / Co-simulation of redundant and heterogeneous modelling scales for a phenomenological approach

Le Yaouanq, Sébastien 17 June 2016 (has links)
There are usually two opposite points of view for the modelling of complex systems. First, microscopical models aim at reproducing precisely the behavior of each entity of the system. In general, their great number is a major obstacle both to simulate the model in a reasonable time and to identify global behaviors. By contrast, the phenomenological approach allows the construction of efficient models from a macroscopic point of view as a superposition of phenomena. A drawback is that we often have to set empirical parameters in these descriptive models. To respond to this problem, we want to make joint use of different levels of description and to use microscopical simulations to feed incomplete macroscopical models. We would then obtain enhanced descriptive simulations with the precision of microscopical models in this way. To this end, we propose a redundant multiscale architecture which is based on the co-simulation methodology in order to generalize the redundant multiscale approach. We suggest two specific co-simulation strategies to guide a macroscopical simulation. The first one consists in dynamically and explicitly estimating critical parameters of a macroscopical model thanks to a dedicated microscopical simulator The second one allows to implicitly determine a full set of dependant parameters on the basis of an output shared by the different levels of description. Then we apply our works to the effective problem of the design offshore structures for arctic conditions. We first describe the implementation of an ice-structure simulation tool by means of a phenomenological and multi-model approach. In a second phase, we show the benefits of our co-simulation strategies to improve the precision of hydrodynamics simulations on the one hand, and on the other to pilot a more macroscopical model for the purpose of fast prototyping.

[en] GROUP BEHAVIOR FOR BLACK&WHITE CHARACTERS / [pt] COMPORTAMENTO EM GRUPO DE PERSONAGENS DO TIPO BLACK&WHITE

FELIPE GOMES DE CARVALHO 15 September 2004 (has links)
[en] Recently the game industry has been demonstrating much interest in the development of games that use more powerful Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. In this way, many games have been developed with more realistic graphics and character behavior. The game Black and White (B and W), developed by Lionhead Studios, is considered an important example of the use of AI techniques in games, and has resulted in a great success, disclosing a very interesting deliberative architecture for computational agents. Such architecture is based on the deliberative model called BDI (Belief, Desire and Intention). The present work aims to develop a study on the architecture used in game B&W, and also on the interaction of characters that use the techniques applied in this architecture. This interaction will use a protocol inspired on the communication language KQML (Knowledge Query and Manipulation Language).

Multiagentní systém pro simulaci a analýzu dopravního provozu / Multiagent system for traffic flow simulation and analysis

Koutný, Vladimír January 2010 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with an oriented graph processing applying a multi-agent system designated for traffic simulation. The thesis was written as a research study. Based on the study, a simulation environment was created able to respond to various stimuli. Meant as the agents, there are vehicles and their drivers that have various features, based on which they respond to the given stimuli. Communication is conducted via a so-called super-agent that monitors all action on the map and passes this information on particular agents. The agents are able to respond in advance to traffic jams (closures, accidents). In such situations, an algorithm designated for a new route finding is conducted. Besides the controlled ones, there can operate on the map also agents simulating common traffic.
