Previous issue date: 2010-11-24 / In this thesis are analyzed the water uses under multiple actors' representation in a
territorial approach of Rio Doce's middle course watershed, in the southwest part of
Goiás, Brazil. With the territory and subsistence agriculture and ranching's
modernization" increases the capitalist farming and ranching, changing the pace of
production and technologies employed in the production process, the space organization
and also the water uses and senses. The Rio Doce s basin and southwest part of Goiás
are representative for the analysis of water uses and meanings because of the plurality
of actors and activities involved in the production process. The research problem that is
expected to answer is: how the territorialized actors in Rio Doce s basin represent the
uses and meanings of water according to its place in the world? Following a plural
methodological conduct, primary and secondary quantative and specially qualitative
data are used, which reveal the meanings gave by these actors to the spatial reality in
discussion. In this research area, hegemonyed by agribusiness, both the export
agriculture activity as well as the ranching one make the water enter in international
economy device, having, in consequence, a geopolitical sense. / Nesta dissertação analisa-se os usos da água sob a representação de múltiplos atores, em
uma abordagem territorial do médio curso da Bacia do Rio Doce, no Sudoeste Goiano.
Com a efetivação da modernização do território, da agricultura e da pecuária de
subsistência emerge a agricultura e a pecuária capitalista, alterando-se o ritmo da
produção e das tecnologias empregadas no processo produtivo, a organização do espaço
e, também, os usos e os sentidos da água. A Bacia do Rio Doce e o Sudoeste Goiano são
representativos para a análise dos usos e dos sentidos da água pela pluralidade de atores
envolvidos no processo produtivo e pelas atividades desenvolvidas. O problema de
pesquisa que se espera responder é: como os atores territorializados na Bacia do Rio
Doce representam os usos e os significados da água de acordo com o seu lugar no
mundo? Seguindo uma conduta metodológica plural, utilizaram-se dados primários e
secundários quantitativos e, especialmente, qualitativos, que revelam os sentidos e as
significações que esses atores dão à realidade espacial em questão. No caso da área da
pesquisa, hegemonizada pelo agronegócio, tanto a atividade da agricultura de
exportação quanto à da pecuária também de exportação fazem com que a água entre
num dispositivo da economia internacional, tendo, então, um sentido geopolítico.

Previous issue date: 2013-05-07 / Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie / The search for solutions for environment, economic and social complex issues in organizations rely on coordinated actions among several social actors involved in the sustainable development web and demand they learn a new way to do business. In this scenario which involves multiple social actors, relations, contexts and interests, the social learning has emerged as a hybrid approach to environment and social complex problem solving. It is a different situation for organizations whose focus is not only support such problem solving, but transforming crisis into opportunity to generate sustainable products and services. Therefore, this study discussed how a large organization on chemical segment is socially learning to deal with the dialectic between the return on investments for your shareholders and the benefits for the others stakeholders. It was conducted a qualitative research on Boje s antenarrative analysis orientated. The research assumed, therefore, a postmodern approach, supported by social constructivism assumptions. The data, built on through interviews, informal conversations, textual and audiovisual and documents, and non-participant observation, were analyzed according to antenarrative analysis. The results describe how the social learning process for sustainability (in this case, for a sustainable agriculture) in a for-profit organization encompass a strategy based on developed competencies by the organization; systemic management and implementation model; strong and strategic partnerships; a huge articulation capability to manage multiple social actors, interests, contexts, learning spaces, partners, conflicts and power relations. Finally, the thesis discuss the concept meaning of social learning process for sustainability in a for-profit organization. / Um processo de busca de soluções para as complexas questões ambientais, econômicas e sociais nas organizações depende da ação coordenada entre diversos atores sociais envolvidos na teia do desenvolvimento sustentável e exige que estas reaprendam uma nova maneira de fazer negócios. Neste cenário que envolve múltiplos atores sociais, relações, contextos e interesses, a aprendizagem social tem emergido como uma abordagem híbrida para a resolução de problemas ambientais e sociais complexos. Trata-se de uma realidade diferente para as organizações cujo foco não é somente apoiar a resolução de problemas socioambientais, mas também a transformação de crises em oportunidades de geração de produtos e serviços sustentáveis. Assim, este estudo discutiu como uma organização de grande porte do setor químico está socialmente aprendendo a lidar com a dialética entre a busca pelo retorno sobre os investimentos para os acionistas e pelos benefícios para os seus outros públicos de interesse. Para tanto, foi conduzida uma pesquisa qualitativa orientada pela proposta de análise de narrativas de Boje. Assume a pesquisa, desta forma, uma abordagem pós-moderna, suportada pelos pressupostos do construtivismo social. Os dados, construídos por meio de entrevistas, conversas informais, documentos textuais e audiovisuais, e observação não participante, foram analisados seguindo a orientação da análise de antenarrativas. Os resultados descrevem como o processo de aprendizagem social para sustentabilidade (no caso, para uma agricultura sustentável) em uma organização com fins lucrativos contempla uma estratégia com base em competências desenvolvidas pela organização, um modelo de implementação e gestão sistêmico, parcerias estratégicas robustas; e uma grande capacidade de articulação para gerenciar os múltiplos atores sociais, interesses, contextos, espaços de aprendizagem, parceiros, conflitos e relações de poder. Por fim, a tese discute o significado do conceito de aprendizagem social para sustentabilidade em organizações com fins lucrativos.

Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine three main components of the business model,revenue model, value proposition and customer relationships. These three main components wouldbe investigated for a newly formed actor on the Swedish real estate market named access operator. Method - A literature study was conducted to compile the previous research that has been done inthe subject. The results obtained in the literature study were later compiled into a theoretical frameof reference that formed the basis for the design of the interview guide. The study has beenconducted in the form of a simple case study on a Swedish software company that has identified agap in the Swedish real estate market. The study's data collection has been conducted usingqualitative semi-structured interviews with respondents from Swedish real estate companies andtechnology companies. All collected data has been analysed using a thematic analysis. Therespondents can also be viewed as potential customers for the anticipated new service that will belaunched on the Swedish real estate market. Results - The study's findings indicate that the value proposition of the new service consists of twodistinct key elements: "ease of integration and use" and "availability." Overall, the valueproposition for this type of access service is the ease with which the actors can use it. The resultsalso revealed that subscription is the best type of revenue model for the new service. Finally, thefindings revealed that respondents had a favourable attitude toward bringing a new player into theSwedish real estate market. Theoretical contribution - According to the study's findings, respondents who belonged to group A "property owners" or group B "technology suppliers" faced similar challenges. Their answerswere unaffected by their disparate backgrounds. As a result, the respondents similarly perceivedthe value proposition of the new service. Previous studies suggest that different backgrounds canaffect how the service's value is perceived. Furthermore, the results indicated that subscription asa revenue model is best suited for the new access service, which was consistent with the findingsof previous studies. Finally, the study's findings indicated that there are no long-term relationshipsestablished between existing actors today because most of it is done through contracts and rapidchanges between organizations occur. Previous studies suggest instead that long-term relationshipsare the type of relationship most organizations strive for. However, the outcome indicated afavourable view of establishing a new player in the industry. Existing actors believe that the newaccess operator will contribute to positive change. Practical contribution- The practical contributions are primarily directed at the company wherethe study was conducted. However, this study can benefit other real estate companies as well ascompanies in other markets looking to establish a new service. According to the study's findings,potential customers value the ease of use that the new service will provide. This is also evident intheir selection of the revenue model they deemed most appropriate for the new service. They canthus gain a better understanding of their costs and future budgeting by using subscription as arevenue model. The findings also show that organizations should have open communication aboutthe value proposition to ensure that all actors are on the same page. Clear communication alsocontributes to increased trust and commitment among the actors, as well as increased marketwillingness to use the new service. This is in line with previous studies which claim that trustbetween several actors increases commitment.

Modelos de optimización para el diseño estratégico-táctico de una red de transporte intermodalAgamez Arias, Anny del Mar 12 November 2021 (has links)
[ES] En esta tesis doctoral se desarrollan modelos de programación matemática para el diseño estratégico-táctico de una red de transporte intermodal que combina dos tipos de problemas de decisiones: la localización de instalaciones y el diseño de la red de transporte. Esta combinación se reconoce en la literatura como problemas combinados LI-DR. El problema combinado se estudia para una situación real y se analizan el comportamiento de la solución óptima, a partir de distintos aspectos como: la disponibilidad del presupuesto de inversión, capacidad de las instalaciones intermodales, múltiples periodos de decisiones, interdependencia en la priorización de las decisiones, múltiples fuentes de financiación y criterios de optimización para las tres dimensiones de sostenibilidad. Para la situación real se referencian las condiciones de acceso y conectividad de la Zona de Desarrollo Económico y Social (ZODES) Magdalena Medio del departamento de Bolívar en Colombia, y el potencial de la industria agroalimentaria para esta subregión.
Con el propósito de identificar factores clave que perfilen la formulación respecto a la composición y funcionamiento de los sistemas intermodales y en los problemas combinados LI-DR se analiza la literatura desde estas dos perspectivas. El análisis de la literatura ha permitido aportar dos clasificaciones novedosas e identificar retos para la investigación futura.
Para la formulación de los modelos se lleva a cabo la sistemática de pasos definidos para la aplicación de las técnicas de programación matemática. Con estos pasos se logra transformar el problema del mundo real a un problema manejable con estas técnicas. La transformación favorece la interpretación matemática del problema combinado LI-DR intermodal, la modelación de los datos y la definición de una estructura de red de entrada para indexar las decisiones estratégicas y tácticas. Los modelos de programación matemática se construyen de manera gradual. En concreto, se proponen 2 versiones que se representan en 5 variantes.
Se comienza formulando un modelo de programación lineal entero-mixto (MPLEM) mono-periodo para analizar, desde un enfoque económico, la sensibilidad de las capacidades del sistema intermodal, la capacidad financiera de los tomadores de decisiones y la variación de la demanda. A continuación, sobre la base de este modelo se propone un MPLEM multi-periodo y dos variantes para validar las condiciones de interdependencia en la toma de decisiones estratégica y la participación de múltiples actores en la financiación de los proyectos de inversión. Finalmente, se formula un MPLEM multi-objetivo para optimizar simultáneamente las tres dimensiones de sostenibilidad. Para resolver y validar los modelos se implementaron dos esquemas de resolución. En los esquemas se utilizan los lenguajes de programación R y Python con el software de optimización matemática Gurobi Optimizer. Se realizan experimentos numéricos para distintos escenarios y se analiza el comportamiento de las soluciones considerando distintos valores a los parámetros. Los resultados obtenidos permiten comprobar la utilidad de los modelos matemáticos e identificar las principales limitaciones y futuras líneas de trabajo. / [CA] En aquesta tesi doctoral es desenvolupen models de programació matemàtica per al disseny estratègic-tàctic d'una xarxa de transport intermodal que combina dos tipus de problemes de decisions: la localització d'instal·lacions i el disseny de la xarxa de transport. Aquesta combinació es reconeix en la literatura com problemes combinats LI-DR. Els resultats obtinguts permeten comprovar la utilitat dels models matemàtics i identificar les principals limitacions i futures línies de treball. / [EN] In this doctoral thesis, mathematical programming models are developed aiming at the strategic-tactical design of an intermodal transport network that combines two types of decision problems: the location of facilities and the transport network design. In the literature, this combination is recognized as combined LI-DR problems. The combined problem is studied for a real situation and the performance of the optimal solution is analyzed in relation to different aspects such as the investment budget availability, the intermodal facilities capacity, multiple decision periods, interdependence in the prioritization of the decisions, multiple sources of funding and optimization criteria for the three dimensions of sustainability. In what concern to the real situation, the access and connectivity conditions of the Magdalena Medio Economic and Social Development Zone (ZODES, for its acronym in Spanish) of the Bolívar department in Colombia, and the potential of the agri-food industry for this subregion, are considered.
Aiming the identification of key factors that outlines the formulation regarding the composition and operation of intermodal systems and, in combined LI-DR problems, the literature is reviewed from these two perspectives. The literature analysis has made it possible to provide two novel classifications and to identify challenges for future research.
The formulation of models follows the systematic steps already defined for the application of mathematical programming techniques. Following these steps, it is possible to transform the problem from a real-world problem to a manageable one. The transformation promotes the mathematical interpretation of the intermodal LI-DR combined problem, the data modeling, and the definition of an input network structure to index strategic and tactical decisions. Mathematical programming models are built gradually. Specifically, 2 versions are proposed, which are represented by 5 variants.
Firstly, it is formulated a single-period mixed-integer linear programming model (MILPM) in order to analyze, from an economic perspective, the sensitivity of the intermodal system capacities, the financial capacity of the decision-makers, and the demand changes. Based on the aforementioned model, a multi-period MILPM and two variants are proposed aiming to validate the conditions of interdependence in strategic decision-making and the participation of multiple actors in the investment projects financing. Finally, a multi-objective MILPM is formulated to simultaneously optimize all three dimensions of sustainability. To solve and validate the models, two resolution schemes were implemented. The schematics use the R and Python programming languages with the mathematical optimization software Gurobi Optimizer. Numerical tests are carried out for different scenarios and the performance of the solutions is analyzed considering different values for the parameters. The results obtained allow us to verify the usefulness of the models proposed and identify the main limitations and future lines of work. / Agamez Arias, ADM. (2021).
