This thesis analyses the intertextual relation between Birgitta Trotzig’s I Kejsarens tid and the works of the Polish author Bruno Schulz, using a hermeneutical method. The application of Manfred Pfister’s model for qualification of intertextual intensity initially motivates that the most important intertextual relations should be sought in the realm of “refer to” rather than “use”. According to the hermeneutical approach, the conclusion demands an exposition of Birgitta Trotzig’s interpretative practices in relation to intertexts. Her reception of Schulz can therefore be incorporated into a stronger intertextual framework of archetypal patterns occuring in myths, dreams and mysticism. The thesis discusses the presence of a number of these patterns in relation to myths and, primarily Jewish, mysticism, which is shown to have a fundamental significance in the understanding of both I Kejsarens tid and the works of Bruno Schulz. In addition, both Trotzig and Schulz write about the opposition between the poetical world of myths and the real world of power and oppression, where the mythical world is often portrayed through the eyes of a child or childish character. This evolves into a messianic motive of redemption, which primarily is visible in the Trotzig texts. Certain potent mythical symbols, such as the serpent or the descent into the Otherworld, are present in both authors’ texts. A unique feature of the Trotzig texts is however the way in which these symbols are connected with sacrality and ambivalence, characterized by a physically palpable intermingling of birth, death, suffering and joy. These hermeneutically privileged structures are induced from Trotzig’s interpretation of the textual material and are shown to carry a much stronger intertextual significance for I Kejsarens tid than the works of Bruno Schulz.

Den mystika upplevelsen. En rollteoretisk analys av den mystika upplevelsen inom ayahuasqueira -religionerna. (The mystical experience: a role theoretical analyze of the mystic experience within ayahuasqueira-religions.)Syftet med uppsatsen är att analysera det mystika inom de religiösa traditionerna där man dricker ayahuasca. Huvudfrågan i uppsatsen är Vad är den mystika upplevelsen som individen erfar i de ayahuasqueira-religionerna? Metoden som används är en kvalitativ litteraturanalys. Det teoretiska perspektivet som hanteras i uppsatsen för att analysera den mystika upplevelsen är Hjalmar Sundéns rollteori. Sundén presenterar en kontextualistisk syn på denna upplevelse. Elementen såsom språk, tradition, disciplin och kultur spelar en viktig roll i hur man ska undersöka den mystika upplevelsen. Resultatet som uppnås med uppsatsen är att i alla dessa ayahuasqueira religioner finns referensramar och roller som kan spela en roll i hur individen erfar den mystika upplevelsen under ayahuasca sessionen. I Santo Daime och Barquinha följer ritualen delvis ett liknande mönster där element som hymner och klädsel ger tydliga riktlinjer till ritualen. Dock finns inte det mönstret i União do Vegetal. Inflytandets grad av religioner på individens upplevelse är inte lika i alla religioner. Den mystiska upplevelsen kommer till uttryck på olika sätt i dessa traditioner. Utformningen och förmedlingen av denna upplevelse visar deras syn på ayahuasca, doktriner och livsåskådning som förmedlas i ritualerna till medlemmarna.

Diese Arbeit schildert auf der Basis einer Analyse der intermedialen Struktur der Werke zweier Künstler aus unterschiedlichen Jahrhunderten die Transportierung eines mystischen Selbstverständnisses, das als Tiefenstruktur der zugrundeliegenden Werke ausgemacht wird. Deshalb sieht diese Arbeit beide Künstler als christliche Mystiker an, deren Weltbild keine grundlegenden Unterschiede aufweist. Darüberhinaus wird über diese beiden Autoren versucht die kontrovers diskutierte Aktualität von Mystik in der Gegenwart herauszustellen. Zentraler Teil und Ausgangspunkt der Ergebnisse ist hierbei die Analyse eines mystischen Wertesystems, das sich in den Prophecies von William Blake finden lässt und das sich in wesentlichen Punkten auf die Werke von Van Morrison übertragen lässt. / This work doesn't deal with two artists in the way that it compares their lyrics in an immanent way. Moreover, it tries to show that William Blake and Van Morrison use differnet means of art in order to express the same intention. That is mainly a mystic view of the world which is embodied in the heart of their work. Both artists regard art as a healing force. The central aspects are summarized in a chapter which deals thouroughly with a mystic system that William Blake developed in his prophecies that were not published throughout his life. Somehow, it can be called the religious centre of his work. Van Morrison obviously uses this system in some of his songs, too. So, that finally both artists are regarded as christian mystics. Consequently, the contemporary view of mystic has to be discussed.
