Communication at the Core: Developing Resilient Supply Chains within distribution channels through Advanced Technologies

Zidan, Mahmoud, Rao, Zona Rao January 2024 (has links)
Abstract Research Background: This thesis explores the critical role of communication networks in building resilient supply chains within distribution channels that can quickly recover from disruptions. It highlights the need for businesses to develop resilient strategies, especially in distribution, to ensure stability, agility, and effective real-time information sharing amidst evolving risks. Research Problem: This research focuses on advanced communication strategies to boost supply chain resilience, particularly in distribution. Despite existing literature, there’s a gap in empirical research on integrating communication networks into resilience strategies. The study examines technologies like Blockchain, IoT, Cloud Computing, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, offering recommendations for companies and policymakers to enhance supply chain resilience. Research Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the adoption of advanced communication technologies contributes to supply chain resilience within distribution channels and identify the key organizational factors that help the successful implementation of such networks within distribution channels to increase supply chain resilience. Research Questions: RQ1. How does the adoption of Advanced communication networks within distribution channels contribute to supply chain resilience? RQ2. What organizational factors influence the successful implementation of such networks within distribution channels to increase supply chain resilience? Research Method: This is a qualitative inductive study. It follows the relativistic ontology and the social constructionism epistemology. A qualitative method is used to realize this research, making use of semi-structured open-ended interviews – 11 interviews were conducted, and the data was transcribed and analyzed by thematic analysis using NVIVO software. Conclusion: Our investigation revealed the dual nature of communication networks, highlighting both their potential to ease distribution processes and the challenges associated with their implementation. Factors such as improved distribution processes, were recognized as facilitating successful implementation whereas factors such as cybersecurity risks and high implementation costs were uncovered as challenges for successful implementation. Our findings suggest that while advanced technologies can enhance supply chain resilience, they also pose risks and complexities that organizations must address.

Navigating Financial Volatility - Strategies of Swedish Real Estate Companies in Response to Interest Rate Fluctuations

Zetterfeldt, Axel, Wallin, Hugo January 2024 (has links)
Corporate bonds are another way for companies to finance their operations other than the traditional loans form a bank. Since the fiscal crisis in 2008, stricter banking regulations have led to a surge in bond issuance. However, issues like unrated bonds, low liquidity, and lack of pricing transparency remain, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions have been recognized in the latest years, in combination with the interest rate hike that started in October 2021. The research explores how Swedish real estate firms manage bond financing during periods with volatile interest rates. This study was made in a qualitative way with semi-structured interviews. We interviewed people from the real estate and banking industries to get a better understanding of how specific companies act and their reasoning behind it while also getting a better view of the market as a whole. Behind our research lies theories such as regulations, derivatives, capital structures and more. The interviewsÅL resulted in a strong engagement by many of the respondents who happily contributed to the study and shared our interest on the Swedish corporate bond market. The qualitative strategy gave us an insight into the views and beliefs by actors on the markets. The respondents include companies of varied sizes and firms with different property portfolios further strengthening the various experiences on the market. We found that there is a view that the margins on new bonds are high during these periods which results in smaller companies lowering their bond financing ratio, and sometimes reduce the time to maturity on their new bonds. It is also apparent that risk management is key and that the companies focus on stabilizing interest payments via derivatives and spreading the maturities of their bonds in order to being able to refinance the bonds in a less stressful environment. From our study, we also find that there are problems with liquidity and transparency that can affect the issuing process, which implemented regulations has failed to solve. Today's regulations regarding green frameworks make it possible for companies to perform greenwashing by issuing green bonds. A broader study covering more companies could be done in the future to get create a generalised view of the strategies used, while in the future also being able to cover the aftermath of the interest rate hike, since the first decrease in Sweden came just before the finalising of this thesis.

The role of leadership behaviors in successful customer-centric digital transformation strategies in SMEs in southern Sweden : A Qualitative Study of Swedish SMEs

Rosengren, Björn, Sundén, Waldemar January 2024 (has links)
This study explores how leadership behaviors facilitate successful customer- centric digital transformation strategies in SMEs. By examining five SMEs in southern Sweden, focusing on the perspective of managers and CEOs, and how they use adaptive-, empowering-, and communicative leadership, it contributes to existing research on effective leadership practices for customer-centric digital transformation success. To answer the research question, which leadership behaviors facilitate successful customer-centric digital transformation strategies in SMEs in southern Sweden, the authors use a qualitative design, using semi structured interviews, with an inductive approach. The results show a balance of adaptive-, empowering-, and communicative leadership is crucial for digital transformation strategies. These behaviors create an innovative environment, leading to long term success in customer-centric digital transformation. Other beneficial leadership behaviors that were used was collaborative- and proactive leadership.

Hammarbäck, Emma January 2016 (has links)

: En kvalitativ studie om hur fotbollsföreningar i små samhällen bedrivs / It is not impossible to play football on the countryside! : A qualitive study about how football clubs on the countryside is conducted

Holst, David, Roth, Vinita January 2016 (has links)
