This thesis also reports a research that its main objective is to contribute to studies of Brazilian chronic and there are two objectives: 1. to ascertain the extent to which the opinion columns published in the columns of newspapers Folha de S. Paulo and O Estado S. Paulo can be characterized as textual genre - discursive. It is appropriate to the selected theme since there are several materials, prepared by journalists in the area of media that deal with gender and the treatment have a stated perspective, does not focus on the textual - discursive characterization of newspaper articles published in space called column. This thesis assumes that all social change produces a change in discourse and vice versa. The investigation involved the following instruments: 1. Theoretical and analytical procedure, from contexts, textual sequences and scale of the sequences in a more hierarchical sequence. 2. Selecting the analysis of material were selected texts from 1890 to the present day, published in the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo and Folha de S. Paulo. 3. The choice of a random date, 08 January in each decade from 30 presenting Brazilian social changes that took place in different historical moments. 4. To demonstrate the non-publication of chronic for some years due to political issues in the various regimes that have made a very tight controls on certain publications and the failure to publish the selected date due to non- newspaper circulation by labor reasons.

Framtiden blickar uppåt : En diskursanalys av höghusdebatten i media / A future towards tall buildings : A discourse analysis of high rise buildings in Swedish media

Zerai Tsehaye, Naomi, Palmqvist, Elin January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to shed light on the notion of tall buildings in thecontemporary architecture and urban planning discourse in the Swedish media. By concretizingwhich ideas and values are expressed, we have also made visible which viewpoints that positiondebaters for or against the phenomenon. Discourse analysis has been used as a theory andmethod based on social constructivism, where discourses through visual and verbal rhetoric areconsidered to construct social reality. For this study, 23 selected articles from the daily pressand the scientific press constituted the empirical material. The results show three paralleldiscourses that can be distinguished in the statements, which are Position of Power,Architectural quality and The city is changing. The conclusions show that criticism of the highrise debate can be linked to ideas about rational planning and distaste for the functionalistplanning ideal of the 1960s. The conclusions also show that contemporary discourses becomea guideline for what should be prioritized from a planning and development context. The mediahas a great deal of influence over which discourses are noticed, and consequently which issuesare prominent in the development of society.

Les stratégies de traduction dans trois articles d’un journal : Une étude sur la traduction des participes présents et passés du français vers le suédois / Translation Strategies in Three News Articles : A Study of the Translation of Present and Past Participle Phrases from French into Swedish

Kilander, Ulrika January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this study was to analyze the translation of verb constructions with participles from French into Swedish of three news articles from the French magazine Le Point (2021). The articles were published in a special issue dedicated to climate change. The analysis focused on the translation of present and past participle phrases and the strategies involved in the translation process. Gerunds were excluded from the study as well as participles functioning as an adjective in order to limit the study. The present study was based on Eriksson’s model and his definitions of transpositions (Eriksson 1997), which are translation shifts taking place during the translation process. The results showed that most present and past participle phrases were being replaced by relative clauses or by main clauses in Swedish. Many participle phrases were also replaced by other types of phrases or clauses.               Some transpositions were considered as being necessary. They seemed to have been imposed on the text by the inherent grammar structures of the target language, while other translation shifts appeared to be optional. In the latter case, they seemed to have been chosen rather for stylistic reasons, and/or motivated by the personal choice of the translator when several options were available.
