Purchase order system

Battula, Tejaswi January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computing and Information Sciences / Mitchell L. Neilsen / Maintaining paper bills is always a tedious job and there is always a chance of missing the purchase orders or even the payment dates. But, using an online purchase order system makes it easier to enter and maintain the correct information. The main objective of this application is to keep track of all the purchase orders made by the faculty members or staff members of the department for their students or for their research work. All the purchase orders can be made just by one click by using the online purchase order system. The user needs to register with the website letting the admin know if he is an authorized user of the department. Once the admin gives the required permission the user can then create a new purchase order from the desired vendor registered with the department. He can also make the payment by providing the funding source through which the order will be paid. Then the orders are finalized and provided with an invoice in a pdf format which can also be printed. Additionally, there exists an Admin user who can manage/ view users and edit their PO’s according to the information provided by the user. The admin also has the permissions to add new vendors and manage them. This website is developed using the PHP Scripting Language which is one of the major technology used now-a-days to build various websites along with HTML, jQuery, CSS web technologies for a better design of the website. Major emphasis of this application is to build user interactive techniques for simplifying user needs and to provide specific products required by the user.

E-handeln ur ett omnichannel : En fallstudie om IKEA:s logistiska processer för fysisk distribution / E-commerce from an omnichannel perspective : A case study of IKEA:s logistical processes for physical distribution

Larsson, Alexander, Wrede, Henrik, Andersson Döme, Jennie January 2021 (has links)
Omnichannel is a term that aims to clarify the customer perspective by integrating processes so the customer can interact through all available channels seamlessly. Channels which are used can include physical stores, websites or apps, where the integration of multichannel systems strives for a friction-free and a seamless shopping experience. The purpose of this study was to examine and discuss how IKEA:s e-commerce has developed from an omnichannel perspective by describing the logistical processes for physical distribution. This was carried out using a qualitative method containing interviews, a webinar and secondary data to compose the empirical findings and was carried out as a case study. The result displays that IKEA:s approach to omnichannel and logistical processes is in a procedure of change and adaptation to the growing e-commerce. The transformation is done to maintain flexibility and accessibility towards their consumers. The study notice that IKEA have had to deal with the increase of e-commerce by using rapid actions to be able to manage the logistical challenges, which sometimes cause long-term solutions to be de-prioritized to secure customer orders. Finally, the results show that IKEA:s delivery system is a flexible and customer centric part of their logistical processes.

Optimization of Storage Categorization : A simulation based study of how categorization strategies affect the order fulfillment time in a multi-picker warehouse

Nilsson, Linnea, Tiensuu, Linnea January 2018 (has links)
The most costly and labor-intensive activity for almost every warehouse is the order picking process and a key challenge for manufacturing companies is to store parts in an efficient way. Therefore, to minimize the order retrieval time when picking from a storage, the need of a sufficient storage categorization strategy becomes vital. One of the logistics centers at Scania in Södertälje stores parts that will be transported to the chassis assembly and the assembly of gearboxes and axles when needed in the production. In one of the storage areas at the logistics center, namely the PS storage, the forklift drivers picking from the storage have experienced congestion in the storage aisles and that it might be possible to reduce the order fulfillment time when picking the orders. This master thesis aims to investigate the possibility of optimizing the picking process in the PS storage, with respect to the order fulfillment time for the forklift drivers, with categorization of the goods. This has been analyzed with a heuristic optimization approach and with the use of a discrete event simulation model, where different categorization strategies have been applied on the storage and compared to the current state. By categorizing the goods in the PS storage, a reduction of the order fulfillment time can be done of around 4% - 5% compared to the current state with all tested categorization strategies. The strategy which has been shown to give the largest improvement is by categorizing the parts in the storage according to their final delivery address at the production line, which would reduce the order fulfillment time by 5.03% compared to the current state. With this categorization method, parts that are picked on the same route are located close to each other.

Exploring Six-Phase Transmission Lines for Increasing Power Transfer With Limited Right Of Way

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: In the United States, especially in metropolitan areas, transmission infra-structure is congested due to a combination of increasing load demands, declining investment, and aging facilities. It is anticipated that significant investments will be required for new construction and upgrades in order to serve load demands. This thesis explores higher phase order systems, specifically, six-phase, as a means of increasing power transfer capability, and provides a comparison with conventional three-phase double circuit transmission lines. In this thesis, the line parameters, electric and magnetic fields, and right of way are the criteria for comparing six-phase and three-phase double circuit lines. The calculations of the criteria were achieved by a program developed using MATLAB. This thesis also presents fault analysis and recommends suitable pro-tection for six-phase transmission lines. This calculation was performed on 4-bus, 9-bus, and 118-bus systems from Powerworld® sample cases. The simulations were performed using Powerworld® and PSCAD®. Line parameters calculations performed in this thesis show that line imped-ances in six-phase lines have a slight difference, compared to three-phase double circuit line. The shunt capacitance of compacted six phase line is twice of the value in the three-phase double circuit line. As a consequence, the compacted six-phase line provides higher surge impedance loadings. The electric and magnetic fields calculations show that, ground level electric fields of the six-phase lines decline more rapidly as the distance from center of the lines increase. The six-phase lines have a better performance on ground level magnetic field. Based on the electric and magnetic field results, right of way re-quirements for the six-phase lines and three-phase double circuit line were calcu-lated. The calculation results of right of way show that six-phase lines provide higher power transfer capability with a given right of way. Results from transmission line fault analysis, and protection study show that, fault types and protection system in six-phase lines are more complicated, com-pared to three-phase double circuit line. To clarify the concern about six-phase line protection, a six-phase line protection system was designed. Appropriate pro-tection settings were determined for a six-phase line in the 4-bus system. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. Electrical Engineering 2012

Analyzing Techniques for Increasing Power Transfer in the Electric Grid

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: The worldwide demand for electric energy is slated to increase by 80% between the years 1990 and 2040. In order to satisfy this increase in load, many new generators and transmission lines are planned. Implementations of various plans that can augment existing infrastructure have been hindered due to environmental constraints, public opposition and difficulties in obtaining right-of-way. As a result, stress on the present electrical infrastructure has increased, resulting in congestion within the system. The aim of this research is to analyze three techniques that could improve the power transfer capability of the present electric grid. These include line compaction, use of high temperature low sag conductors and high phase order systems. The above methods were selected as they could be readily employed without the need for additional right-of-way. Results from the line compaction tests indicate that line compaction up to 30% is possible and this increases the power transfer capability up to 53%. Additional advantages of employing line compaction are the reduction in electric and magnetic fields, increase in system stability and better voltage regulation. High temperature low sag conductors that were applied on thermally limited lines were seen to increase the power transfer capability. However, a disadvantage of this technique was that the second most congested line, limits the power transfer capability of the system. High phase (six phase) order system was noted to have several advantages over three phase system such as lower voltage requirement to transfer equal amount of power and lower electric and magnetic field across the right of way. An IEEE 9 and 118 bus test system were used to evaluate the above mentioned techniques. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.S. Electrical Engineering 2012

Optimering av packkonfiguration inom varuflöde / Optimization of pre pack in the supply chain

Muhieddine, Tamara, Suneson, Julia January 2016 (has links)
An increasing number of retail groups is facing problems with optimizing distribution and replenishment of products to serve stores. Lead times in the fashion industry are long and dealers often have to plan their purchases several months in advance for the coming seasons. The products are packed in production before they are sent to the central warehouse. Decisions about the pack configuration are made in connection with the purchase order. By packaging multiple stock-keeping units (SKUs) together, the efficiency increase and the costs in the supply chain can be reduced, while misallocation costs may arise. The master thesis is performed at the Venue Retail Group, which is a leading group in the Nordic region within the accessories, travel equipment and shoes. The objective of the paper is to identify the optimal pack configuration in order to generate increased turnover sales within the supply chain for own production synthetic bags. In this paper the pack problem is formulated as an optimization problem. A model is designed to determine the optimal packing order quantities that satisfy every store category's forecasted demand with the goal to minimize the total costs. By mapping product flow and identifying costs related to pack configuration the paper suggest a change of Venue Retail Groups existing pack strategy to achieve the objective.

Identity through the other : Canadian adventure romance for adolescents

Larsson, Clarence January 1996 (has links)
This study of Canadian adventure romance for adolescents seeks to demonstrate the cultural significance of the genre through close readings of James Houston's Frozen Fire and The White Archer, Monica Hughes's Hunter in the Dark and Ring-Rise, Ring-Set, as well as Markoosie's Harpoon of the Hunter. By means of a semiotic-structuralist approach I examine the texts as a signifying system conveying discourses that constitute a code of connection to the social context of contemporary young-adult readers.Structured on the formula: separation-initiation-return and informed by the symbolism of death-rebirth, the stories hold out the promise of a life-enhancing return. Roland Barthes's definition of myth as a mode of signification underpins my discussion of how the narrative conventions become vehicles of existential truths by replicating and intensifying adventurous experiences. With the quest for identity and the polarization between two worlds as structural determinants, the selected books juxtapose the values of Western civilization with those expressed through the Canadian North and its indigenous population. As a defining category of Canadian identity, the northern wilderness provides the space and the challenges for the protagonists' initiatory experiences. My application of the dichotomy self-other to the selected books provides a number of polarized positions such as civilization-wilderness, white-native, male-female, and conscious-unconscious, polarities through which the different discursive levels of the texts are generated. Arguably, the formulaic character of the journeys into the unknown allows the stories to signify on various levels, thus inviting both psychological and ideological readings of the texts. It is primarily through a recycling of narrative conventions that Houston and Hughes invest their work with significance. By focusing on the structural and thematic similarities of adventure romance, my examination attempts to elucidate the parallels to mythic adventure and archaic rites of initiation with the aim of validating the role of the genre as symbolic representations of the process of maturation and vicarious rites of passage. The conclusions I draw have a bearing on much of Houston's and Hughes's fiction, on the genre of romance as a whole, and to some extent on the adjacent genres of fantasy and science fiction. / <p>Behandlar James Houston, Monica Hughes och Markoosie.</p> / digitalisering@umu

MORAVSKÉ VINAŘSKÉ CENTRUM BRNO / Moravian wine centre Brno

Vojtěšek, Jiří January 2016 (has links)
The city of Brno has always been a center of Moravian wine. The new draft of wine center responds to this reality and represents the grandeur of wineries in its full glory. Respect for nature, love for traditions and love for order/system are the main aspects of the design. The proposal is essentially open to the public, however, the necessary modesty is preserved. Conversely taciturnity of production part of buliding holds the secrets of the deep traditions of Viticulture and Enology. Designed buildings are used for production, wine storage, administration associated with the production, tasting and selling wine, conferences, accommodation and, finally, wellness and other activities. The size of the building is the result of an optimal design that does not interfere with nearby historical buildings. The emphasis is on minimizing costs both during construction and during operation. Flor plan shape resembling the letter L is oriented towards the west courtyard. This raises a unique viticultural area court with a wide staircase. The amphitheater can be used for seasonal exhibitions, pilgrimages or feast of local entertainment. The yard is connected with the street Hlinky, which paraphrases the historic entrance portals into winecellars. The northern part of the building bites into the ground and connects the original winecellars with new facilities. Small narrow windows reflects the desired taciturnity, just as it was with winecellars in South Moravia for centuries.
