A Jew from Nebraska: An Actors Attempt at Stand-up Comedy

Stand-up comedy has been a major influence on American culture and has given the "Everyman" the ability to laugh at ourselves. Stand-up comedians have been performing in nightclubs, bars, clubs, and, most importantly, theatres for the past 60 years. Stand-up comedy can take many forms: a monologue of entertaining incidents that form a story, or a string of one-liners, or a succession of jokes. This performance project and thesis is an examination and an attempt at the art form that we call stand-up comedy. It will answer the question of what is the best approach to writing comedy for an actor finishing his graduate acting program. It will also challenge the idea of simple joke-telling versus storytelling and examine the following question: Can anyone be a standup comedian? A research of the history, an analysis of the practitioners, and training from graduate studio work will support the discovery of a practical approach to writing and performing a stand-up comedy routine.

In this study, the potential for artificially intelligent sapient life to be integrated into a Lutheran theological anthropology is investigated. The investigation is done via the means of a reconstruction and reactualisation of Lutheran anthropology, applied to the hypothetical scenario of artificial general intelligences having been created. The study takes its roots in questions of how intelligent life made by human artifice would interact with the Lutheran narrative-relational imago Dei paradigm, and what room there is within the Lutheran framework to integrate such intelligent life. In the study, the analysis will be threefold; with the first chapter dedicated to presenting the basis within Lutheran theology within which the rest of the study is conducted, the second chapter to identifying core points of conflict that may arise were artificial life to be introduced, and the third to finding preliminary solutions to these. Although the study is and must be hypothetical-speculative in nature, the conclusion is reached that there seems to be some manner of room for artificial intelligences to be integrated into a Lutheran way of understanding the imago Dei paradigm, albeit with some lingering issues that can quite hardly be solved entirely until the real dawn of artificial intelligence. Although some reservations remain, it therefore points towards the possibility of future artificial intelligences being Humanity’s theological equals, and leaves it to future studies to reach a more elaborate understanding of what that means and implies in practice, both ethical and dogmatic.

Morphological and Morphometric Comparison of Interface in Original Abutment and Copy Compatible Abutment Connected to Original Implant

I nuläget finns flertalet företag som tillverkar distanser som är kompatibla med originalimplantat. Det finns dock ingen evidens för att dessa distanser är likvärdiga med originaldistanser när de används på originalimplantat. God passform hos implantatkomponenter är en viktig faktor för att undvika biologiska och tekniska komplikationer.Syftet med den här studien var att jämföra passformen mellan originaldistans och originlimplantat med kompatibel kopiadistans och originalimplantat.Material och metod: Fem originaldistanser och fem kompatibla distanser skruvades till originalimplantat. Provkroppar bäddades in och delade på mitten för att sedan analyseras i ljusmikroskop och SEM. Där mättes kontaktytans längd och mellanrummet mellan implantat och distans och distans och distansskruv. All data analyserades i SPSS.Resultatet: Implantatkoplex med kopiadistans hade fem gånger kortare kontaktyta mellan komponenterna och mellanrummet var större, vilket ger en försämrad stabilitet under andvändning. Analysen av distansskruvens yta visade morfologiska skillnader mot den inre ytan av distansen vilket kan leda till deformation och/eller fraktur av skruven.Konklusion: Användning av lågpris kopiadistanser till Astra originalimplantat kan leda till signifikant avvikande passform hos distansen och en lägre tolerans för stress hos distansskruven. / Nowadays there exist different abutments from different companies that are compatible to a certain manufacturer implant. But no scientific evidence exists on whether the fit of the compatible abutments are comparable to that of the genuine abutments when connected to the genuine implants. God fitting of implant components is an essential factor to avoid microgap formation in implant-abutment interface due to microgaps lead to biological and biomechanical complications. The aim of this study was to compare interface in original abutment and copy compatible abutment connected to original implant.Material and Methods: Five original abutments and five compatible abutments were connected to the original implants. The complex were sectioned in the middle and thereafter analyzed in a light microscope and SEM by measuring contact length and interface thickness between the implant and abutment and also between the abutment and abutment screw. All data was analyzed with SPSS-program.Result: Compatible implant complex had about five times shorter contact surface between components and interface was thicker which gives less stability under clinical function. The analyze of screw-abutment interface showed morphologic differences with the inner surface of the abutment which could lead to screw deformation and even fracture.Conclusion: Using low-cost compatible abutments connected to original Astra implants could lead to significant fit discrepancy of the copy abutments and lower stress tolerance in the abutment screw.

This paper introduces a framework for impact evaluation which combines the broader framework adopted for the academic research impact assessment with the organisation viewpoint centred on business results, process improvement and product development teams capability improvement. A large scale empirical study conducted with evidence from technical reports on workplace projects from an automotive OEM proved the validity of the proposed framework.

The Use of Function Modelling Methods in Industry: Insights from a Large Scale Study with an Automotive OEM

Yes / This paper presents an evaluation study for the System State Flow Diagram function modeling framework based on a large-scale study with an automotive OEM. Technical reports are used to evaluate the usage of the framework within the organization. The paper also introduces a list of the type of problems that engineers are interested in in practical function modelling. The findings suggest that there is a widespread uptake of the framework across the organization and it supports the usage of relevant key engineering tools within the context of a broader model-based Failure Mode Analysis methodology.
