As domésticas vão acabar? : narrativas biográficas e o trabalho como duração e intersecção por meio de uma etnografia multi-situada : Belém/PA, Porto Alegre/RS e Salvador/BA / Will the maids end? : biographical narratives and the work as duration and intersection by means of ethnography multi-situated – Belém/PA, Porto Alegre/RS and Salvador/BA

Dantas, Luísa Maria Silva January 2016 (has links)
The proposal of this thesis is to study the paid domestic work and/or held at a third house as a temporality object. By means of an ethnography of duration (Eckert and Rocha, 2013), marked in the plural and lacunar time, next to creative imagination, we prioritize the biographical narratives and social trajectories of domestic workers, but also work-related images coming from other medias such as photographs, videos, reports and narratives of employers that make the game of memories of the interviewed and even the researcher. During the proposal process and completion of research (2012 to 2016), impactful changes occurred as regards the regulation of domestic work in Brazil but also, more in the global framework from the Convention 189 and Recommendation 201 of the International Labor Organization-ILO (2011). In 2012 was approved the Proposed Constitutional Amendment 66, but known as the "PEC of domestic", followed by the Constitutional Amendment 72/2013, until the Complementary Law 150/2015 and ratification of the convention by the President Dilma Rousseff in April, 2016. These devices are intended to equate the rights of domestic with the other urban workers, in addition to ensuring decent work for the category, including stability, security and trade union organization However, in addition to changes in jobs, the new regulations have caused conflicts and unfamiliarity in relations of this work quite often observed in Brazil, at least, since the slave regime. Therefore, among the arguments most publicized in the media and against the new rights, is the threat that due to higher cost: the maids will end! Since the bosses would not afford the services and the workers would not find other employment, causing a major social problem. Discussing domestic job settings in three Brazilian cities: Belém (Pará), Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and Salvador (Bahia), from different angles and dimensions through Ethnography multi-situated, in different spaces and times. We emphasize the pros and cons arguments of such assertive, taking into consideration the intersectionality of race, gender, and class that engenders this work, anchored in the structural racism that underpins and gives meaning to the presence of paid domestic work and/or held at third house on Brazilian contemporaneity.

Roca Ramos, Mauro William, Balboa Padilla, Leyla Angélica January 2015 (has links)
Public entities such as rural municipalities are overwhelmed by the different challenges that are facing the public. Here is information transparency in the administration control sanctions smaller vehicles (Mototaxis). The main problem is that there does not have a computerized system to manage the control of sanctions, deficiencies in the administration as loss of information, administrative informality, loss of records and consultations in times of infringements. For this problem it has been investigated in different rural Municipal which do not yet have an efficient management control violations; consequently, there are some concerns on the part of the owners of small vehicles for not having a clear and concise imposed against infringements by the municipal inspectors information. However, an important conclusion is that this research project will improve the administration of sanctions on smaller vehicles, reducing street crime (kidnapping), the vehicular traffic informality, improving services to citizens and revenue collection for the municipality; having as main beneficiaries the Municipality of Santa Eulalia, the owners of small vehicles and the district's population.

Životní kariera sexuálních pracovnic / Life career of sexual workers

Babej, Sára January 2020 (has links)
Aj The goal of the diploma thesis is to find out what is the life career of women who provide paid sexual services. The thesis only applies to women who provide sexual services for financial compensation and are over 18 years old. Although we know from research that a large portion of women started providing sexual services for money before the age of 18, we are not getting into direct contact with teenage sex workers. In my work, I focus on the biography of women providing paid sex services. From their perspective, and how they view their lives. The sample of respondents was adapted to the topic and we approached both the clients of Bliss without RISK, z. s. as well as those who no longer working in the sex business. I used the in-depth interview method to get a basic picture of the interviewee's family, personal, and work situation. Furthermore, I focused on capturing their view of the life stage when they worked in the sex business. I tried to identify the moments that led to the entry and exit of this profession. Keywords: Sex business, Bliss without RISK (R-R), Sex worker, Life career, Paid sexual services

Montmagny Grenier, Catherine 08 1900 (has links)
It has been demonstrated that the human being has a latent inclination for transgression, which is restrained by formal and informal standards set by its community. If, however, we take an individual out of its community, will he be more inclined to transgress norms? The present thesis attempts to expound that situation. We aim to understand the process that leads one to consume paid sexual services in a touristic context abroad by studying sex tourism in Mexico. We are trying to define the factors that motivate, or at least, favour this type of consummation in such context. We use a body of evidence composed of comments published by sex tourists on an online forum, and of existing data to account for these factors. We analyze these evidences by combining intersectionality and social control on a theoretical level. Specifically, we review the comments alone in order to understand the tourists' motives to seek sex tourism, and we analyze the existing data, establishing links with the published comments as to identify the factors permitting tourists to engage in that practice.

Trustworthiness, diversity and inference in recommendation systems

Chen, Cheng 28 September 2016 (has links)
Recommendation systems are information filtering systems that help users effectively and efficiently explore large amount of information and identify items of interest. Accurate predictions of users' interests improve user satisfaction and are beneficial to business or service providers. Researchers have been making tremendous efforts to improve the accuracy of recommendations. Emerging trends of technologies and application scenarios, however, lead to challenges other than accuracy for recommendation systems. Three new challenges include: (1) opinion spam results in untrustworthy content and makes recommendations deceptive; (2) users prefer diversified content; (3) in some applications user behavior data may not be available to infer users' preference. This thesis tackles the above challenges. We identify features of untrustworthy commercial campaigns on a question and answer website, and adopt machine learning-based techniques to implement an adaptive detection system which automatically detects commercial campaigns. We incorporate diversity requirements into a classic theoretical model and develop efficient algorithms with performance guarantees. We propose a novel and robust approach to infer user preference profile from recommendations using copula models. The proposed approach can offer in-depth business intelligence for physical stores that depend on Wi-Fi hotspots for mobile advertisement.

WHY NOT HAVING ANOTHER CHILD? THE ECONOMICS OF FERTILITY INTENTIONS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES IN ITALY: A MIXED-METHOD APPROACH

CAVALLI, LAURA 08 November 2010 (has links)
The thesis is a contribution to the study of the economic implications of fertility intentions and desires and of the economic aspects of the fertility decision making process. Precisely, it is based on three autonomous chapters and it aims at understanding: a) for women and for individuals within the couples the interplay between fertility and labour market preferences (with a particular focus on the role of women's sector of employment), and the influences that the (un)balanced division of domestic duties play on the intentions of becoming parents for another time in Italy; b) for couples living together the determinants of their (dis)agreement about the intention of becoming parents again; and c) for couples that disagree on future fertility plans, the determinants of female’s contrasting attitude towards her partners’ positive fertility intention. The dissertation uses a mixed-method design- a strategy based on survey data analysis as well as in-depth interviews analysis: this approach allows investigating the topic from different perspectives, by means of both quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to provide new insights into the phenomenon of interest.
