Parallels in portraits of leadership in mega churches of Gauteng (RSA) and Florida (USA) / Tsietsi John Maloma

Maloma, Tsietsi John January 2011 (has links)
This thesis, Parallels in portraits of leadership in mega churches of Gauteng (RSA) and Florida (USA), the researcher, studied literature on church leadership with special reference to the leadership of mega churches. He researched issues relating to the nature of church leadership by exploring relevant Bible passages, the lives of certain Bible characters that the Bible presents as good but not perfect leaders, as well as relevant key theological conceptions of leadership. The study accordingly also reviewed different models of church leadership on the hand of a study of some Bible passages and current theological thinking about the matter. The thesis demonstrated that the leadership of mega churches requires certain leadership qualities, values, and competencies. The contribution of the study lies therein that it confirmed and identified through a comparative empirical analysis of details collected through basic research in mega churches of Florida (USA) and Gauteng (RSA) the qualities, values and competencies that are essential for successful leadership of mega churches in very different contexts and church families. The study therefore recommends a desirable leadership style and essential qualities for effective church leadership of mega churches. The study also makes a contribution to the theological understanding of a new but growing church type in urban settings, the mega church; and is of great value to those that lead and study such churches. / PhD, Biblical Studies, North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2012

Lind, Jonas, Simonsson, Kim January 2012 (has links)

Breunig, Gustavo January 2014 (has links)
Looking for a particular way of analyzing the information structure, this work presents an analysis of sentential topic and focus in parallels. The way information is distributed in a sentences, or its information structure, is a research subject still beginning to develop, with many terms, as well as meanings for those terms, coming up often. This analysis aims at dissociating focus and topic as complements of each other, showing a possibility of analysis in which these elements occur in different levels of analysis – the parallels – which allow them more autonomy, as well as closer in some analysis. Focus is the element that will be dealt with more in the present work, which compares both parallels, but analyzes more sentences and problems concerning the focus, such as the existence of a secondary information focus, which is called auxiliary focus, that aims at providing new information that has not been asked for. Also, in the focus parallel, the relation between focus and implicature is dealt with. Topic, on the other hand, is an element that still needs deeper research, here being introduced concerning more basic problems, but still important ones.

INPRINT local fashion house - celebrating the parallels between interior architecture and fashion

Papaspyrou, Kyriaki 09 November 2013 (has links)
INPRINT is a local fashion house , involved with the adaptive re-use of the Saxon Building in the Pretoria CBD. The design attempts to: -Celebrate the relationship between past and present, new and old within architecture and the fashion industry. -Showcase the relationship between fashion retail and the craft of garment production. -Redefine the relationship between interior architecture and fashion. -Provide a platform to encourage and exhibit local fashion design and production. The reinfusion of energy into the interior space of the Saxon Building along Church Street gives the interior and the building as a whole its significance as currently it is insufficiently used and has no reference to the sites historical significance. Reprogramming and designing of this space also contributes to the current Tshwane urban renewal project of the surrounding area. This project was initiated due to a fascination between the role that interior environments and clothing have on an individual, as well as the dramatic change in fashion retail since the 1800’s. Through the introduction of a multi use program, the original function of the building, a retail store, becomes more accessible to a variety of users and the general public within and around the CBD. The interior as a whole becomes a network of interactive spaces encouraging personal relationships and social interaction, thus engaging the public with the craft of fashion. The existing character has been reinterpreted allowing the Saxon Building to regain its former identity and significance. This investigation supports the idea that spaces, as with clothing, contributes to the identity of the users, the South African garment industry and the greater context. / Dissertation MInt(Prof)--University of Pretoria, 2014 / Architecture / MInt(Prof) / Unrestricted

Curves in the Minkowski plane and Lorentzian surfaces

Saloom, Amani Hussain January 2012 (has links)
We investigate in this thesis the generic properties of curves in the Minkowski plane R2 1 and of smooth Lorentzian surfaces. The generic properties of curves in R2 1 are obtained by studying the contacts of curves in R2 1 with lines and pseudo-circles. These contacts are captured by the singularities of the families of height and distancesquared functions on the curves. On the other hand, the generic properties of smooth Lorentzian surfaces are obtained by studying certain Binary Differential Equations defined on the surfaces.

Aspectos lógicos da axiomática da geometria plana

Martins, Denis January 2018 (has links)
This study presents the development of the axiomatic method based on Euclides and his work Elements. It discusses possible logical errors, the postulate of parallels and how those led mathematicians to conceive non-euclidean geometries and the independence of axioms. The consolidation of the axiomatic method in mathematics is attributed to David Hilbert and his magistral work Foundations of Geometry. It established a new axiomatic for the plane euclidean geometry, more modern and without logical errors as seen in Euclid's work. By formalizing such axioms in a first order language, we find issues with the continuity axioms as they are not formalizable in that order. Lastly, we present a model for the euclidean geometry and another for the non-euclidean geometry.
