Tendências sobre o número de passageiros transportados em ônibus interestaduais no Brasil / Number of passengers transported in interstate buses tendencies in Brazil

Silva, Ary Ferreira da 17 October 2005 (has links)
This thesis reports and discusses conclusions, methods and processes used to show that identified tendencies when studying statistical relationships among the number of transported passengers, distances between cities and number of inhabitants can contribute to explain the behavior of the volume of inhabitants from Brazil displacements when the means of transportation is the interstate bus. A transformação do mercado de transporte individual de passageiros e a legitimação de novos entrantes no setor

Koch, Simone Nazareth Vedana January 2017 (has links)
For more than a hundred years, taxi drivers have comprised the market for individual passenger transport (IPT) around the world. Since the invention of the taximeter at the beginning of the last century, when the name “taxi” first appeared, this industry underwent modifications such as regulations, fleet reduction, and creation of radio taxis associations. Those who tried to compete direct with taxi drivers were eliminated from the market. With the recent proliferation of smartphones and mobile applications, new companies are entering this sector, bringing great changes to this market. This study attempts to understand this market transformation. A multi-method research, involving qualitative and quantitative data, was undertaken to understand how the transformation of the individual passenger transport market occurred in the period from April 2012 to April 2017. The following data collection techniques were used between 2016 and 2017 in two Brazilian cities – São Paulo and Porto Alegre: (1) Participant observation at a public hearing, (2) in-depth interviews, and (3) collection of newspaper articles. In addition, the researcher had access (4) to recordings and transcripts of public hearings held in São Paulo; and (5) a lecture by the general manager of Uber in Brazil. This study contributes to theories on market evolution by detecting three distinct phases of market transformation: Market Preparedness, Conflicting Market Openness, and Market Expansion. The first phase was not address by the literature and can be characterized as a phase where facilitating companies begin to act using new technologies and are presented by the media to users. The second phase is characterized by the entry of an innovative competitor in the sector and by discussions about clandestine and regulation. At this stage, there are conflicts between traditional service providers in the sector and new entrants. These conflicts may involve physical violence. Already in the third phase, the regulatory issue, to a lesser degree, remains in evidence and new direct competitors appear, expanding the market. Besides these three phases, this study explains the path of radical market change, the triggers that allow the evolution from one phase to another and the roles of the various stakeholders involved in this transformation. Six types of triggers were found that combined contributed to the evolution of this market: technological, social, political, economic factors, unmet market demand and brand strength.

Miesto struktūros įtaka energetinių resursų suvartojimuivežant keleivius / Influences of urban structures on energy resources consumed by passengers Ttransportation

Grigonis, Vytautas 10 November 2005 (has links)
A modern town is comprised of complex interrelations between socio-political, environmental and economical subsystems. Every city is a framework directed by local inhabitant’s needs and is filled with the ideas of local planners, local and global economical conditions and consequently it is crucial to find reasonable technological solutions. These solutions should shape the sustainable urban environment and the urban transport system is a substantial part of this environment. The quality and supply of transport services very closely relate to environmental aspects and are one of the main indicators showing the quality of life in cities. Transport is the most energy intensive sector of transport and is viewed as a key challenge for sustainable development. Transport causes pollution that has adverse effects on the environment at the local, regional and global levels and harms human health. Integrated approaches to transportation that include improved planning, demand management, fuel efficiency and cleaner fuels can help to meet transport’s challenges. There are three main groups of tools to reduce fuel consumption and emissions: technological, administrational, and planning. One of the main strategic objectives of the Lithuanian transport sector is development of its infrastructure, increase of transport flows and energy efficiency. Therefore, the Lithuanian policy is orientated to secured operation, traffic safety, reduction of environmental impacts, market regulation and... [to full text]

Methods for reducing vehicular greenhouse gas emissions using electric vehicles and wind-electricity

Kannan, Shanmuga Sundaram 12 July 2012 (has links)
Recently, electric vehicles (EVs) have been gaining attention in passenger transportation due to their greater fuel economy and reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to conventional vehicles (CVs). The amount of GHG emissions reduction from EVs depends on the energy sources used to generate electricity. Wind is a clean, renewable energy source and EVs charged from wind-generated electricity do not produce any emissions. However, wind is variable in nature. This thesis examines the potential impact of EVs on reducing a jurisdiction’s vehicular GHG emissions using locally available wind-electricity. Four methods of charging EVs using wind-electricity are considered, with grid-electricity as a backup, and the overall well-to-wheels GHG emission reductions are discussed. The thesis includes a case study of Summerside. The results show that up to 68% of the EVs’ demands were met with wind-electricity, and Summerside’s vehicular GHG emissions were reduced by between 56% and 73% when compared to CVs.
