Esta dissertação tem por tema a pintura de história de Antônio Parreiras (1860-1937) realizada durante a Primeira República (1889-1930). Busca compreender a atuação do pintor no embrionário mercado das artes do entresséculos XIX-XX, com ênfase nas relações estabelecidas com os poderes públicos. Pretende mostrar como Parreiras foi capaz de estimular a demanda por pinturas decorativas para os espaços públicos que estavam sendo construídos ou reformados a fim de atender as necessidades do novo regime. Discute como, nestas obras, se combinaram ditames do encomendante e vontade do artista, que, para além de cumprir os contratos, imprimiu nos quadros sua visão da história nacional. Propõe uma compreensão das telas históricas de Parreiras analisadas à luz dos debates artísticos, intelectuais e historiográficos da época. Nesse sentido, salientamos o capítulo final da dissertação, dedicado à análise da representação dos indígenas em sua obra. Através desta investigação pretende-se iluminar o papel desempenhado por Antônio Parreiras em um ambiente marcado por disputas simbólicas renhidas. / The subject of this dissertation is the historical painting of Antônio Parreiras (1860-1937) produced during Brazilian\'s First Republic (1889-1930). It seeks to understand the painter\'s role in the embryonic art market between the XIX and XX centuries, emphasizing the establishment of relationships between him and the governments. It aims to show how Parreiras was able to stimulate the demand for decorative paintings for the public spaces that were being built or remodeled to meet the needs of the new regime. Furthermore, it discusses how, in his paintings, the ditames of the ordering party were combined with the will of the artist whom, besides fulfilling the contracts, imprinted on the paintings his vision of the national history. Parreiras\' historical canvases are important elements in the genesis process of our country\'s regional identities, throughout the making of republican ideal. This analysis intends to shed light on the part played by Antônio Parreiras in an artistic and intellectual environment marked by instability and hard fought contested symbolic disputes.

Esta tese investiga a relação do Estado com o teatro no Brasil no período de 1822 a 1889, por meio da subvenção às Artes Cênicas. Procura relacionar a documentação produzida pelo executivo e o legislativo dedicada ao teatro aos debates dos homens de letras sobre a questão teatral nos periódicos do Rio Janeiro. Investiga o patrocínio às Artes e à Literatura, na França do XVII e a assimilação desse modelo em Portugal durante o século XVIII e no Brasil a partir do XIX. Examina a ação da Revue des Deux Mondes na divulgação do teatro francês no Brasil. Analisa o alvará de 1771, primeira legislação produzida em Portugal para a normatização dos teatros públicos do reino e a sua permanência no Brasil após o processo de independência. Contribui com documentos novos para aprofundamento do estudo da história do teatro brasileiro. / This thesis investigates the relation between the State and the theatre in Brazil during 1822 and 1889, through the subvention to the Scenic Arts. It tries to correlate the documents produced by the Executive and the Legislative dedicated to the theatre and to the debates from the academic man regarding the theatrical matter on Rio de Janeiro papers. It studies the sponsorship to the Literature and Arts during the XVII in France and the uptake of the same model during XVIII in Portugal and in Brazil from XIX. It examines the action of Revue des Deux Mondes regarding the promotion of the French theatre in Brazil. It analyses the 1771 Permit, first legislation produced in Portugal seeking the regulation of the realm public theatres and its continuance in Brazil after the independence process. It contributes with new documents for a deep study of the Brazilian theatre history.

The paper presents an account of the backstages, since the project planning up to its evaluation, bringing a critical reflection on the making of the cultural production and exploring issues related to access and cultural citizenship. The project analyzed here was sponsored through the Brazilian Federal Law of Cultural Incentive (Rouanet Law). The dynamic game of the cultural market here exposed presents a form of interaction between the Proponent, the Project Sponsor and the Public that serves as reference to comprehend the trajectory of a cultural project since its creation, going through its implementation and up to its finalization. Another aspect here explored, although yet less developed in the market, treats about the establishment of the bases for the evaluation of the social-cultural projects results achieved. / Esta pesquisa trata da experiência de realização de um projeto cultural, a partir da análise da dinâmica dos 3P´s da produção cultural. O trabalho apresenta um relato de bastidores desde o planejamento do projeto à sua avaliação, trazendo uma reflexão crítica acerca do fazer da produção cultural e explora questões sobre acesso e cidadania cultural. O projeto analisado foi patrocinado através da Lei Federal de Incentivo à Cultura (Lei Rouanet). O jogo dinâmico do mercado cultural aqui exposto apresenta uma forma de interação entre Proponente, Patrocinador e Público que serve de referência para a compreensão da trajetória de um projeto cultural desde sua criação, passando por sua implementação, até sua finalização. Outro aspecto aqui explorado, apesar de ainda pouco desenvolvido no mercado, trata do estabelecimento de bases para a avaliação de resultados de projetos sócio-culturais.
