Strategies of Agricultural Development in Angola. Case study: Catabola municipality

Rušarová, Kristina January 2015 (has links)
Catabola municipality is one of the most damaged areas of civil war in Angola. Although the climatic as well as soil conditions are favorable for intensive agriculture, small farmers in the municipality are subsistence with the main income source of dried beans, dried cassava and vegetables. Hand-tool technology prevails in the Catabola municipality as it is employed in 95.38 % of the cultivated land of small farmers. The majority of small farmers uses only power of their family members (with a mean of 1.80 kW and standard deviation of 2.37 kW), hired labour is used by 38.0 % of small farmers. In addition, high engagement of child work was found out as 63.88 % of the children age 5-14 are involved in field operations. Primary data collection was conducted in the Catabola municipality in the period July - August 2011, semi-structured questionnaires and focus group discussions were the most frequent methods used. In total, 151 small scale farmers out of 9 villages participated in the survey. 10 factors that influence the dependent variable -- type of farmer regarding technology used on field in combination with hiring of extra labour -- were defined. The factors were statistically analyzed with use of ANOVA. Out of the factors expected to influence adoption of more sophisticated technologies than the hand-tool, increasing in size of the cultivated land and enhancement of education of both parents and children are found to be the limiting factor in the adoption process for use of animal traction or mechanical power from small farmers in the Catabola municipality. Strategy was formulated with use of simplified quantified SWOT analysis separately for animal-draught and mechanical-power technologies. The result can be interpreted as 8.0% assumption of success in animal traction adoption, contrary to 10.1% assumption of failures in mechanization adoption by small farmers in the Catabola municipality. Thus, tractors are not considered as an appropriate technology for small farmers in the Catabola municipality. The most critical criteria in animal traction adoption that should be considered are support of farmers' cooperatives and associations, FFSs, education in the form of general schooling as well as trainings for farmers, blacksmiths, extension workers and animal breeders.

Ekonomické dopady aktivní politiky zaměstnanosti / Economic impacts of active employment politics

Nováková, Irena January 2016 (has links)
One of the priorities not only of active employment politics of Czech Republic is employing people with a disability. State social system provides a complex support for these people in their difficult situation. If this system is supposed to cover their basic problem, it has to find the best ways to help disabled people to become independent. The necessary presumption is employing a particular person. Protected labor market was established within Czech Republic's social system, which should not be subjected to strong competitive forces or competitive forces within businesses, but is completely dependent on government subsidies. The process of disabled people's return to the free labor market is however a concept that requires a cooperation from the government, disabled people themselves and also the employers. The thesis deals with the development of legislation in Czech Republic related to employing disabled people. It rates the efficiency of already established measures and a way of creating a motivation for employers, who employ or are obligated to employ people with disabilities.

Pracovní migranti z Ukrajiny a Vietnamu na českém trhu práce / Working Migrants from Ukraine and Vietnam in the Czech Labour Market

TEPLÁ, Kateřina January 2009 (has links)
This diploma work tries to describe the situation of working migrants from Ukraine and Vietnam. The theoretically part includes topics from the description of the elevation of working migrants on contemporary Czech labour market to social and cultural background of workers from Ukraine and Vietnam. The second practical part is based on four detailed interviews with a working migrant from Ukraine, a working migrant form Vietnam, a Czech co-worker of working migrant and an employer of working migrants. The sight of view of these four interviews is that working migrants have the same conditions as Czech employees, they came to Czech Republic to make money to rise the life standard of their families living abroad. There is enough work in their countries but they aren´t paid so well as in Czech Republic there. The working grades they execute are not interesting for Czech workers so these positions hadn´t been casted before they came to our country. They know that people have many prejudices to them there but they don´t admit them and try to pass judgment on Czechs individually. At the beginning each of them had an experience with some negotiator or {\clqq}client`` who had vindicated them their jobs and accommodations. They see the biggest problem in communication in our language but they are willing to learn speaking Czech. They don´t follow the progression of Czech justice and legislation and they rely on their employers in this case. They think that the biggest difference between their countries and Czech Republic is folks´attitude towards family and religion. They are willing to cooperate on changing the unfriendly attitude of our people towards them.

Nelegální práce a její postih / Illegal work and penalties for such work

Kmínek, Petr January 2015 (has links)
This thesis deals with selected issues of illegal work and its punishment, especially in terms of administrative offences. It focuses, in particular, on terminology related to illegal work, inspection activities of the labour inspection office and punishment of illegal work in administrative proceedings. The main reason why I have selected this topic is because I have been interested in labour law ever since I was studying it as a compulsory subject. There is a broad range of topics to choose from in labour law, but I have chosen the area of illegal work because of my previous experience from working in regional inspectorate of the State Labour Inspection Office, based in Ústí nad Labem, as this topic falls into its scope of authority. The main goal of this thesis is to provide a theoretical definition of illegal work, to describe the inspection procedure of employers and administrative procedure regarding the inspected entities. Furthermore, one of the goals of this thesis is to point out certain deficiency in current legal framework, especially regarding practical problems with the application of law. The prologue introduces the topic of illegal work, defines structure of this thesis and its mains goals. The thesis itself is then divided into four chapters. The first chapter focuses on dependent...

Neplatená práca v domácnosti / Unpaid housework and its impact on the labour market in the Czech republic

Daňová, Lenka January 2017 (has links)
This thesis aims to find out the range of unpaid work in the Czech Republic and whether there are significant gender differences in the terms of unpaid work. This target was reached by evaluating experience from abroad, specifically from the research of OECD, research of HETUS and research based on a survey in the Slovakia in 2011. Measure of unpaid work in the Czech Republic was determined by present surveys, but was mainly based on my own survey. The thesis also contains a theoretical part that specifies the importance and influence of unpaid work. Gender inequalities in society but mainly in the labour market were also specified. This thesis summarises past results of surveys that addressed the topic of unpaid work. The main asset of my work is the research in the Czech Republic, which is directly focused on the range of unpaid work as there only had been series of research that dealt with unpaid work briefly. Another benefit of this work is proposing possible amendments because the assumption that women spend more time on unpaid work than men was confirmed. These changes could help to compensate the inequality.
