Tem como pretensão retratar parte da trajetória de Luiza Franquelina da Rocha – Gaiaku Luiza, sacerdotisa do Candomblé da nação jeje Mahi. O seguinte trabalho pretende desvelar o seu papel enquanto mulher negra e religiosa na sociedade baiana, e a sua contribuição para a difusão do conhecimento sobre a religiosidade afro-baiana, em destaque o Candomblé de origem jeje mahi. Obedecerá a um recorte temporal entre 1909 e 2005 compreendendo este período, o seu nascimento e falecimento. Será destacado o contexto histórico, sócio cultural e religioso onde a mesma se insere, as experiências vivenciadas por essa sacerdotisa, a fundação do Humpame Ayono Huntoloji, as tensões e conflitos gerados a partir da fundação do terreiro. Iniciamos este trabalho relatando sua trajetória escolar no King's College de Londres e Trinity College, em Cambridge. Em 1852, Cayley foi eleito membro da Royal Society of London. Portanto, realizamos um estudo em relação ao seu processo de admissão e do estado da Royal Society of London nesse período. É possível encontrar o nome de Arthur Cayley nos principais mecanismos de reconhecimento matemático da época, portanto, verificamos esse reconhecimento por meio dos pareceres relativos às suas publicações abordando a Teoria dos Invariantes na Philosophical Transactions of Royal Society of London. Fora da Inglaterra, o reconhecimento matemático de Cayley é constatado pelas suas publicações no Crelle (Alemanha), Liouville e Comptes rendus (França). Devido ao seu prestígio, Cayley foi convidado para publicar em revistas matemáticas da Itália e Estados Unidos. O reconhecimento acadêmico de Arthur Cayley é decretado em 1863, quando foi eleito à primeira Cadeira de Professor Sadleirian de Matemática Pura da Universidade de Cambridge. Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar as raízes do prestígio de Croce na Itália e da recepção de suas ideias nos Estados Unidos. Interessa descobrir como ele se fez um intelectual reconhecido em seu país de origem, e quais sentidos sua obra teve entre os acadêmicos americanos. Para tanto, são aqui examinadas as condições sócio-históricas destes dois circuitos intelectuais socialmente diferenciados. A partir do exame da principal obra croceana, Estetica (1902), procura-se esclarecer como as especificidades destes universos intelectuais conferiram sentidos distintos ao pensamento de Croce. / This thesis aims to analyze the Croce prestigious roots in Italy and the reception of his ideas in the United States. Interests find out how he became an intellectual recognized in their country of origin, and which way his work has had among American academics. To that end, the socio-historical conditions of these two socially differentiated intellectual circuits examined here. From the examination of the main work of Croce, Estetica (1902), seeks to clarify how the specific features of these intellectual universes have given different meanings to the thought of Croce.

Every individual has a (bigger or smaller) range of social parts that take action among the interpersonal relations, according to the context in which they happen. One way of finding out this process is through the observation of linguistics uses and practices inside of communities that, as well as social attitudes, imply consequences, even to individuals that did not participate of a given dialog or discourse in which is issued certain value judgments, but that are part of the community referred by the speaker. These repercussions and consequences are studied in MV Bill s a well known rapper in Brazil because of his compositions, interpretations and sociocultural activities oral and written texts, aiming to identify if his many social addresses (composer, singer, writer and documentary filmmaker, but at the same time black and slum dweller), reflected in his linguistics uses, somehow affect the opinion formation of the readers of his books and viewers of his documentary about the main characters: the ―hawks‖. Style, linguistic monitoring and social context are analyzed conjunctly in this paper that has as a theoretical reference an overview of Sociolinguistics authors, based upon essentially on the confrontation of concepts from Penelop Eckert (style and credibility) and William Labov (speech monitoring). The election of MV Bill as the chosen individual to be analyzed derived of the exposure of some quite different social parts (opposites, sometimes) in his three books and a documentary, developed in a partnership with the musical producer Celso Athayde. In these texts, which make up the corpora of this study, the rapper reveals his extensive linguistic knowledge, without measuring the social implicatures of their uses. A qualitative analysis is applied to socially stratified traces of "favelês‖ and ―carioquês‖, extracted both written and oral texts. The oral texts were analyzed based on an adapted orthographic transcription in which were highlighted the performance of the consonants /S/ e /R/, consonant clusters, reduction of the ending -ndo (gerund) in -n[ø]o, concordance and verbal conjugation marks, pronoun placement, and elisions that occur commonly on speech but do not apply to written form.The issue is unraveled with the definition of what these language uses mean and with the appointment of what are their implications. / Cada indivíduo possui uma gama (maior ou menor) de papéis sociais que entram em ação nas relações interpessoais de acordo com o contexto em que elas ocorrem. Uma das formas de constatação deste processo é pela observação dos usos e práticas linguísticas dentro de comunidades que, assim como atitudes sociais, implicam em consequências, até mesmo para aqueles indivíduos que não participam de um determinado diálogo ou discurso em que é emitido determinado juízo de valor, mas que fazem parte da comunidade referida pelo falante. Os sujeitos participantes da pesquisa eram alunos brasileiros universitários de um curso de Letras/Espanhol em uma universidade de Brasília. O trabalho é um Estudo de Caso e a pesquisa se enquadra dentro da linha quanti-qualitativa. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de questionários e de entrevistas. Os resultados mostraram que essas atitudes dos sujeitos-participantes manifestavam uma preferência pelos falantes das duas variedades peninsulares em relação à dimensão avaliativa de status, ao passo que a preferência pelo falante da variedade mexicana foi com relação à dimensão avaliativa de solidariedade. Entretanto, observaram-se atitudes pouco favoráveis com relação ao falante da variedade argentina em razão de percepções estereotipadas, bem como perante os falantes da variedade cubana e chilena devido à dificuldade para sua compreensão. Os fatores que intervieram para influenciar essas atitudes são, por conseguinte, tanto de natureza lingüística quanto extralingüística. Os primeiros foram especialmente significativos quando ainda não tinha sido reconhecida a origem regional do falante. Entretanto, quanto aos fatores de caráter extralingüístico, estes tiveram uma ampla presença logo após a identificação dessa origem regional. Tais fatores operaram, portanto, em um contexto de relações intergrupais e afetaram as atitudes manifestadas pelos sujeitos-participantes em relação às comunidades de falantes e, em decorrência disso, também se viram afetadas as variedades diatópicas. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This thesis is a case study which analyzes the attitudes of a group of Brazilian students learning Spanish in a formal setting. The principal objective in the research project is to analyze and interpret the attitudes related to the linguistic varieties of the Spanish. The subjects that participated in the research are all Brazilian college students in the undergraduate course of the Spanish in one of the Brazilian universities. It is a case study in the qualitative research, and the data was obtained through questionnaires and interviews. The results revealed that those attitudes indicated the subjects’ preferences for the two varieties of the Peninsular Spanish with regard to the dimension of status, while their preference to the speaker of the Mexican variety showed another dimension that is related to the solidarity. However, it was also observed that the attitudes towards the Argentina’s variety were less favorable owing to the perception of the stereotype, as well as to the Cuban or Chilean varieties because of the difficulty of comprehension. The factors that come to influence these attitudes are, consequently, by the linguistic as well as extra-linguistic features. The former, especially, has the significance while the regional origin of the speaker has not revealed to the subjects or recognized by them. Nevertheless, as to the factor of the extra-linguistic characteristics, they were remarkably present in the subjects’ attitudes, soon after the origin of the speakers was disclosed. Those factors appeared, therefore, in a context of the inter-group relations and affected the attitudes that were obviously reflected the speakers’ communities. At the end of the process, they also affected the linguistic varieties.

Através da pesquisa em várias fontes documentais, buscamos cruzar as informações sobre os integrantes das diversas Mesas diretoras da organização fraternal com os vários cargos importantes da Vila, a fim de detectar a participação dos irmãos da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco nos papéis chave no exercício da política local. / The purpose of this work is to analyze the Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi of Vila Rica, as an instrument of power and social prestige in Minas Setecentistas. We look at the documentation in order to characterize the occupants of the main positions in this association, and outline the dynamics of the Third Order and its main functions. Through researches in many documentary sources, we intend to cross the in formation about the members of the various director's boarders of the fraternal organization with several important positions in Vila, to detect the involvement of the brothers of the Order of St. Francis Third in key roles in the exercise of local politics.

Buscamos identificar quem eram os homens que constituíam a “elite dirigente” daquela instituição, procurando traçar um perfil prosopográfico destes homens, conjugado com a análise de suas trajetórias, tentando perceber sua participação em outras instituições que conferiam prestígio e poder naquela sociedade de Antigo Regime. Tentamos provar que a participação naquela instituição e principalmente a ocupação dos cargos dirigentes na Ordem Terceira de São Francisco de Assis funcionava como mais um dos critérios que auxiliavam na hierarquização social, conferindo prestígio e visibilidade, e funcionando como uma via de legitimação local em busca de ascensão social. / This study seeks to create an analysis of the men who were members of the Administrative “Mesa” of the Venerable Third Order of Saint Francis of Assisi from Vila Rica, in the period between the first elections of the “Mesa” which occurred in 1751 until the year of 1804. We seek the identification of the men who formed the ruling elite of that institution trying to create a prosopographic profile of those men, combined with the analysis of their trajectory, trying to observe their participation in other institutions which conferred prestige and power in that “old regime society”. We try to prove that the participation and especially the occupation of leading position in the Third Order of Saint Francis of Assisi worked as another criteria to help the social hierarchisation, offering prestige and visibility, and working as a way of local legitimization to achieve social ascension.
