O papel do \"dinheiro primitivo\" na economia Inca. / The role of \"primitive money\" in the Inka economy.Cristiana Bertazoni Martins 19 October 2001 (has links)
The scope of this research is to systematically classify and identify the objects that served as \'primitive money\' in the Andean region during the period know as the Late Horizon, which covers the years 1476 through 1534 A.D. We tried to indicate how these objects circulated within the various social spheres and the role they played in each one of them, in order to determine their function in a system that had definite and specific values. The reason to decide on this theme was basically two: (a) the inadequate and often superficial way which money issue is dealt with in the existing works on Inka economy; (b) the general understanding of \'primitive money\' by means of concepts which are not appropriate to the reality of ancient Peru. This research was based on chronicles written by Spaniards during the XVI and XVII centuries. Throughout this work, we were careful not to fall into anachronism, since that usually happens in researches on economy about the so called archaic societies. We hope that this work may be a contribution to a better understanding of \'primitive money\' and notion of value in the Inka society.

Funkce sleduje formu / Function follows formMunková, Karolína January 2020 (has links)
The work deals with associative thinking and its relation to form design. In contrast to present "conceptual procedures", the creative process is based on "Ad hoc" ways of working, where the designer / engineer becomes a handyman / bricoleur. However, if the architect becomes a bricoleur, he must also get rid of the conceptualization of the work through a plan. This apparent detail inevitably leads to the reconfiguration of other parts of the profession, present since the time of Alberti, when the relationship between the architect and the client is defined by the drawing - the plan. The project simulates the probable way of organizing the work of the architect / bricoleur of the present.

Title: The Use of Therasuit method on individuals with cerebral palsy Objectives: The main objective of the work is to observe a 4-week rehabilitation program according to the Therasuit method. Determine whether there will be changes in the area of gross motor skills and primitive reflexes, and to describe the individual course of the rehabilitation process in individual probands. Another objective is an evaluation of the therapeutic effect on the child's physical activities from the parents point of view. Methods: It is a mixed research method which contains an empirical-theoretical form of case sudies of 3 probands. The study included 2 boys and 1 girl aged 3, 4 and 7 years with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, while in the first proband it occurs in the form of spastic diparesis, in the second one in the form of spastic hemiparesis, and in the third one in the form of spastic triparesis. The data collection methods used include input and output kinesiological analysis, qualitative observation of the rehabilitation process and a qualitative interview with a legal representative focused on the child's physical activities prior to and after rehabilitation. Results: We found that after 4-week rehabilitation according to the Therasuit method, all 3 probands improved their gross motor skills. In all 3...

Algebraic and Combinatorial Properties of Schur Rings over Cyclic GroupsMisseldine, Andrew F. 01 May 2014 (has links)
In this dissertation, we explore the nature of Schur rings over finite cyclic groups, both algebraically and combinatorially. We provide a survey of many fundamental properties and constructions of Schur rings over arbitrary finite groups. After specializing to the case of cyclic groups, we provide an extensive treatment of the idempotents of Schur rings and a description for the complete set of primitive idempotents. We also use Galois theory to provide a classification theorem of Schur rings over cyclic groups similar to a theorem of Leung and Man and use this classification to provide a formula for the number of Schur rings over cyclic p-groups.

From Dispossession to Surplus Production: A Theory of Capitalist Accumulation in Neoliberal BangladeshMondal, Lipon Kumar 11 September 2020 (has links)
Dispossession has been playing a central role in capitalist accumulation over the last four-hundred-year history of modern capitalism. This dissertation theorizes how dispossession contributes to producing and reproducing the capitalist mode of production in Bangladesh. To do so, the dissertation empirically examines three interrelated aspects of dispossession in its three analytical chapters. First, it explores how the state and the market work in tandem to organize and control dispossession while grabbing land and expelling peasants from their places. Next, it investigates how dispossession contributes to providing 'potential capitals,' such as grabbed land and dispossessed peasants, to the production sites to be converted into 'constant capital' and 'variable capital' and to creating antagonistic class relations. Finally, it explores how market and non-market actors control those dispossessed peasants-turned-workers inside and outside factories to produce surplus values in order to reproduce the capitalist system locally and globally. These three interactive components of dispossession show three successive phases of capitalist accumulation: land-grabbing by divorcing independent producers from their livelihoods (the initial phase), converting land into capital, peasants into wage workers, and non-capitalists into capitalists (the intermediate phase), and controlling and exploiting those wage workers to produce surpluses or a cycle of new capital (the final phase). This dissertation accordingly advances a full-scale theory of dispossession in its concluding chapter by examining how the starting, intermediate, and ending points of dispossession contribute to capitalist accumulation. The dissertation draws on a wide range of empirical evidence collected from Panthapath, Dhaka, Bangladesh. These include 77 life histories, 50 interviews, a land-use survey of 1,007 structures, and a short survey of 147 slums. It also uses various historical records and archival documents. The three major findings of this dissertation are as follows. First, the dissertation shows that the state acts as a class to organize land grabs, often working in tandem with the private sector, but also in direct competition with the market. Not only does the state monopolize extra-economic means to grab land, but the market also often gains access to extra-economic means. Next, the dissertation shows that dispossession works to privatize the commons, proletarianize subsistence labor, create antagonistic class relations, and redistribute wealth upward. Finally, the dissertation identifies a new regime of labor control, called social despotism, that dominates and exploits workers in factories to produce surpluses. I conclude this study with policy recommendations designed to address the various dimensions of structural injustice described in this dissertation. / Doctor of Philosophy / This dissertation theorizes how dispossession contributes to producing and reproducing the capitalist mode of production in Bangladesh.
[EN] This investigation «Primeogenial Goddesses, their myths, aesthetic and inuflence in art and in the hyper-modern liquid societies» is supported by several areas of knowledge, such as archaeology, anthropology, theology, sociology, art, feminisms and psychology, etc., in order to grasp the complexity of the society in which we live.
To sustain the hypothesis and objectives of this paper, in the first part we elaborate a theoretical framework, with the background of the primeogenial myths and the female body, based on the theories of Carl Jung or Mircea Eliade among other theorist.
In the second chapter archaeological data is revised, based on scientific data of Marija Gimbutas among other archaeologists giving a different point of view, the She Story.
The Inherited in the collective subconscious, the myth of the Primogenial Goddess forms part of the aesthetics of our liquid societies, for that reason, in the third chapter, very briefly we analyze the evolution of western thought, from Descartes to Lipovetzky, journey through fundamental theories to understand where we stand now a days: Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche and Fromm arriving to the «no place» theory of Mark Augé and finally the liquid society theory of Zygmunt Bauman.
On the second part of this work, chapter four, dedicated to Zygmunt Bauman, how its social theories have meticulously analyse the society we live in. How everything is intertwined; art, society, technology, global communications (mass media), commerce, politics, myths in this liquid generation, which cover all aspects of our lives and how it reflects in the feminine body.
A generation that has been born into the technologies, and would never understand its own reality if «not connected». They blindly trust it and their new leaders of opinion the trenders, bloggers, momagers, the new loyalty is devoted to technological corporations like Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, handing the private information to the supra panoptic systems, information voluntarily given by the individuals of this generation.
A perspective of gender is revised, the female body in liquid times, through the essential theories of Judith Butler, Paul. B. Preciado and Griselda Pollock. How all converge with the theories of Bauman, changing the perspective that mass media, marketing and the insatiable commerce of information on the net.
On the fifth chapter Griselda Pollock through its lectures of the feminine body in the arts, the feminine body and the canon, the creation of this feminist canon and the position of the feminine body of the primeogenial myth in modernity, lightens us in such aspects.
The sixth and last chapter, examples are given of the absurd abuse of the massive communications, uncontrolled technology and how they undermine and distort the myths we study. This bricoleur mentioned by Levi-Strauss leads to a nonsense power of the voracious commerce that mass media impose on us, like the big brothers, represented by the Kardashians, the Marvel myths. The phenomenon like rappers Minaj, or Rosalía among other mutant Primeogenial Goddesses, twisted and distorted.
To close this thesis with samples of art, visual artists and sculptress, detached from the phenomenon of the voracious commerce, plastic producers in which mental health and consciousness still exist among others, Ana Mendieta, Louise Burgeoise, Rebeca Horn, Nalini Malani, or Sahara Sitkin.
I conclude this research with my own artistic production which has been presented in three personal exhibits through the duration of the investigations: «Celestial women, Primeogenial myths», «Myths in liquid times» and «Feminine myth-poetics».

The efficacy of the Berard Auditory Integration Training method for learners with attention difficulties / Hannelie KempKemp, Johanna Jacoba January 2010 (has links)
Research on the Berard Auditory Integration Training method has shown improvement in the regulation of attention, activity and impulsivity of children whose auditory system have been re-trained. Anecdotal reports have found improvements in sleeping patterns, balance, allergies, eyesight, eating patterns, depression and other seemingly unrelated physiological states. During the Auditory Integration Training (AIT) procedure dynamic music, with a wide range of frequencies, is processed through a system of filters in the AIT device. The volume and tone of the music is constantly and randomly modulated.
The researcher explored Berard AIT as a possible intervention for learners between the ages of six and twelve years, who experienced problems with sustained attention and who have difficulty in shifting their attention from task to task. The aim was to investigate if Berard AIT method would enable the learner to stay calm, relaxed yet alert, with focused attention and thus concentration with appropriate reflection before action.
An experimental quantative study, with a pretest-posttest control group design, was
conducted to investigate the effect that Berard Auditory Integration Training has on learners with attention problems. Checklists and different measurements were conducted before the training started and repeated three months after the training was completed, to monitor if any change in the way that the learners pay attention, occurred the case group of ten learners was compared with ten learners in a control group who did not initially receive the intervention. Although the results of the post-tests varied amongst the learners, most learners in the experimental group experienced a statistical significant increase in attention control and a reduction in behavioural problems by the third month following the listening sessions. / Thesis (M.Ed.), North-West University, Vaal Triangle Campus, 2010
