Previous issue date: 2015-06-15 / Previous studies that proposed to install mand and tact in children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, added to the training procedure different verbal antecedents, in addition to the ones under investigation that are supposed to control. The present study sought to assess a procedure to install mand and tact in four autistic children with gradually delay echoic prompt. Two different topographies were trained for each participant. The children were separated into two groups. The group number 1 was trained in the mand-tact route and the group number 2 in the tact-mand route. The results showed that the use of gradually delay echoic prompt was effective in the participants of the mand-tact route for one topography and for the verbal operant tact only. The follow up result showed that the correct answers by this participant were maintained after one month, and for the three others participants, it is noticeable a higher number of echoic answers related with the baseline for the two trained topographies / Estudos anteriores que se propuseram a instalar mando e tato em crianças diagnosticadas com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo, adicionaram ao procedimento de treino diferentes antecedentes verbais, além dos que deveriam controlar o operante sob investigação.

EFFECTS OF PARTICIPANT CONTROLLED VIDEO PROMPTING ON NOVEL TASKS IN A VOCATIONAL SETTING FOR ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERHogue, Amanda M. 01 January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching self-instructional skills to navigate to a mobile device to access video prompts to teach novel behaviors to two adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a vocational setting. This study used a multiple probe across conditions design to evaluate effectiveness. In baseline, the researcher directed the participants to complete a novel task and collected data on correct steps completed. In technology training the researcher used a system of least prompts procedure to teach participants to initiate the use of the mobile device, navigate to an app, navigate to the specific behavior schedule, watch video prompt, navigate to the next step, and complete the modeled behaviors. After mastery of technology training, researcher evaluated performance of novel tasks following self-instruction to access video prompts on the mobile device. Participant’s fidelity of navigation skills was assessed, however was not included in mastery criterion. Both participants learned to self-instruct to independently access video prompts on a mobile device. One participant self-instructed using the mobile device and video prompts to correctly complete novel tasks.

Design, construction, and characterization of a neutron depth profiling facility at the Oregon State University TRIGA reactor with an advanced digital spectroscopy systemRobinson, Joshua A. 13 July 2012 (has links)
In this work, Neutron Depth Profiling (NDP) analysis capability has been added to the Oregon State University TRIGA Reactor Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis Facility (PGNAA). This system has been implemented with an advanced digital spectroscopy system and is capable of rise time pulse shape analysis as well as coincidence measurements from multiple detectors. The digital spectroscopy system utilizes a high-speed multichannel digitizer with speeds up to 200 Megasamples/second (MS/s) with advanced hardware trigger and time stamping capabilities. These additions allow the facility to conduct simultaneous NDP and PGNAA combined measurements, which also enables cross calibration. The digital pulse processing is implemented with software programmed rise time pulse shape analysis capabilities for the analysis of the detector responses on a pulse-by-pulse basis to distinguish between different interactions in the detector. The advanced trigger capabilities of the digitizer were configured to accurately measure and correct for dead time effects from pulse pile up and preamplifier decay time. / Graduation date: 2013

An Evaluation of the Early Steps Referral Process in Hillsborough County to Detect Delays in Access to Early Intervention ServicesJohnson, Jessica Fry 01 January 2011 (has links)
Early intervention services are important in obtaining better outcomes for infants with a developmental delay or a condition that may result in a delay. In Florida, a primary resource for providing these services is the Early Steps Program. This study analyzed the Early Steps referral process to identify barriers to prompt access. The guiding hypothesis was if differences exist in key outcomes of the referral process, then these differences may reveal where improvements can be made. Improving access to early intervention should produce better outcomes and reduce the costs of services required later by addressing developmental concerns earlier.
The dataset included records for 10,688 infants referred to the Hillsborough County Early Steps Program between 2006 and 2009. Two measures (age at referral and time to IFSP) represented points within the referral process where delays could be quantified. Age at referral is a measure of how long it takes for a delay to be identified and the infant referred for evaluation. The time from the referral to the date an IFSP is created provides a measure of the delay in beginning services.
Delays in obtaining a referral were associated with being referred by a family member, the referral code Developmental Delay At Risk and barrier codes Child/Family Issues and No Show/Unsuccessful Contact. Delays in completing the IFSP were related to being younger at referral, being referred by one of the sources that made less frequent referrals to Early Steps, an eligibility determination related to behavior concerns, maternal education that stopped at grade 8 or below and being Black.

A MEASUREMENT OF THE PROMPT FISSION NEUTRON ENERGY SPECTRUM FOR 235U(n,f) AND THE NEUTRON-INDUCED FISSION CROSS SECTION FOR 238U(n,f)Miller, Zachariah W. 01 January 2015 (has links)
Two measurements have been made, addressing gaps in knowledge for 235U(n,f) and 238U(n,f). The energy distribution for prompt fission neutrons is not well-understood below 1 MeV in 235U(n,f). To measure the 235U(n,f) prompt fission neutron distribution, a pulsed neutron beam at the WNR facility in Los Alamos National Laboratory was directed onto a 235U target with neutron detectors placed 1 m from the target. These neutron detectors were designed specifically for this experiment and employed a unique geometry of scintillating plastic material that was designed to reject backgrounds. Fission fragments were detected using an avalanche counter. Coincidences between fission fragment production and neutron detector events were analyzed, using a double time-of-flight technique to determine the energy of the prompt fission neutrons. A separate measurement was made, investigating the neutron-induced fission cross section for 238U(n,f). This measurement also used the pulsed neutron beam at the WNR facility. The neutron flux was normalized to the well-known hydrogen standard and the fission rate was observed for beam neutrons in the energy range of 130-300 MeV. Using an extrapolation technique, the energy dependence of the cross section was determined. These new data filled a sparsely populated energy region that was not well-studied and were measured relative to the hydrogen standard, unlike the majority of available data. These data can be used to constrain the fission cross section, which is considered a nuclear reaction standard.

Prompt photons at the LHC : selection, measurements of single- and di-photon production cross sections, and Higgs boson searches with the ATLAS detectorMarchiori, Giovanni 06 November 2013 (has links) (PDF)
This document, prepared to obtain the "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches", is a compendium of the photon-related analysis activities I carried on within ATLAS in the past four years and a half. The activities I will describe can be broadly classified into three categories: optimization and/or in situ measurement of photon-related performance, measurements of the cross sections of Standard Model processes producing prompt photons, and searches (leading to discovery!) of a Standard Model Higgs boson decaying to final states containing photons.

Hydrogen and Muonium behaviour in diamondJoseph, Sithole Makgamathe 31 March 2005 (has links)
This work is aimed at the understanding of the dynamical behavior of hydrogen
in diamond. The investigation was carried out using Transverse Field muon Spin
Rotation (TF-SR) and the Longitudinal Field muon Spin Relaxation (LF-SR)
techniques. The chemical analogy between hydrogen (p+e-) and muonium (u+e-)
enabled the study of the indirect dynamical behavior of hydrogen in diamond.
The TF-SR and LF-SR measurements were carried out in an isotopically pure 13C
diamond in the temperature ranges 11 mK - 320 K and 10 K - 400 K, respectively.
In the TF-SR results, the Prompt Absolute Fraction (PAF) of both diamagnetic
and the paramagnetic states are temperature independent. The spin
relaxation rate for the state is non-zero and temperature independent,
while that of the Mux state is non-zero and temperature dependent. The
behavior of indicates that the u+d is immobile, while that of MuT indicates the
mobility in diamond. The LF-SR results provide hop rate and associated nuclear
hyperfine interaction parameters of the Mut state in diamond. / Physics / M.Sc. (Physics)

Ion beam therapy is an innovative radiotherapy technique using mainly carbon ion and proton irradiations. Its aim is to improve the current treatment modalities. Because of the sharpness of the dose distributions, a control of the dose if possible in real time is highly desirable. A possibility is to detect the prompt gamma rays emitted subsequently to the nuclear fragmentations occurring during the treatment of the patient. In a first time two different Compton cameras (double and single scattering) have been optimised by means of Monte Carlo simulations. The response of the camera to a photon point source with a realistic energy spectrum was studied. Then, the response of the camera to the irradiation of a water phantom by a proton beam was simulated. It was first compared with measurement performed with small-size detectors. Then, using the previous measurements, we evaluated the counting rates expected in clinical conditions. In the current set-up of the camera, these counting rates are pretty high. Pile up and random coincidences will be problematic. Finally we demonstrate that the detection system is capable to detect a longitudinal shift in the Bragg peak of +or- 5 mm, even with the current reconstruction algorithm.

A search for a prompt atmospheric muon neutrino flux in the northern hemisphere using data releases from IceCubeHaberland, Marcus January 2020 (has links)
The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a cubic kilometre scale detector for high-energy neutrinos above hundreds of GeV produced in Earth’s atmosphere as well as outside our solar system whenever particles are accelerated to ultra-relativistic energies. The prompt atmospheric contribution is a result of the creation of heavy mesons with charm components in the atmosphere. Past studies from IceCube using a maximum likelihood estimation over the whole neutrino energy spectrum always reported a best-fit zero prompt contribution so far [1–5], contrary to theory [6, 7]. In this analysis we tried to measure this prompt atmospheric flux in muon neutrino event data from different IceCube releases. In contrast to past studies we performed a binned least-squares fit of the conventional atmospheric flux from data at low energies and subtracted this fit and an astrophysical flux reported by IceCube to measure a prompt contribution. Due to a lack of statistics and accessible information from data releases, our results are also compatible with a zero prompt contribution.
