Skolkuratorns perspektiv på elevhälsoarbete : Med fokus på det främjande och förebyggande arbetet

Engdahl, Marcus, Olofsson, Simone January 2022 (has links)
The school counselor's unique role in school contributes with a psychosocial perspective to promote pupils' well-being and development. However, how pupil health work is designed may differ depending on the school's needs and conditions. The aim of the study is to investigate the school counselor's experience of how pupil health work, with a focus on the promotive and preventive work, is conducted and organized for the students in elementary school. The study uses a qualitative method and the authors organized five semi-structured interviews with school counselors. The main conclusions include, among other things, that promotion and prevention are a priority, while emergency-controlled work takes a lot of time and resources. Another conclusion is that collaboration is of great importance for good pupil health work. In addition to these conclusions, several complex challenges are also emerging, characterized by resource and economic deficiencies and a lack of time efficiency. Based on the results of the study, the authors believe that further research on the implementation of evidence-based methods should be conducted. This is because school counselors often realize the importance of these methods but at the same time highlight that they are not always sufficiently adapted to the school environment.

La música como herramienta para el aprendizaje de vocabulario de los alumnos de ELE : Un estudio comparativo sobre el aprendizaje de vocabulario en cuatro escuelas del sur de Suecia / Music as a tool for learning vocabulary by students of ELE : A comparative study on vocabulary learning in four schools in southern Sweden

Condori, Efrain January 2017 (has links)
New studies in the field of education has shown that music can be used as an important tool in teaching of language. As future Spanish teachers of the Swedish schools, we consider that music can help students to build up/develop their knowledge when it comes to their vocabulary. For that reason, we have decided to conduct a study in four schools in the south part of Sweden with the purpose of answering at two main questions: - can Spanish music help students to improve their Spanish vocabulary - how can music effect memorise the Spanish vocabulary In order to find answer for our first question, we use a quantitative method which imply the use of vocabulary tests for 127 students, which were divided in two groups (with and without music). The result of this research demonstrates that the use of music in Spanish classes doesn’t helps so much on the other hand, the music permits that students participation becomes motivated toward learning Spanish. Music makes learning Spanish more fun which motivates the learning of the language even more. For answering our second question we used a survey which implied personal questions to 75 students from the first group with music. The result showed that students can memorise further Spanish words by adding the subtitles to the song that are in Spanish.

Prokopcová, Michala January 2021 (has links)
Thesis TITLE: The Psárský forest in the district of Prague - West as a location of school science excursion AUTHOR: Bc. Michala Prokopcová DEPARTMENT: Department of Biology and Environmental Studies, Faculty of Education, Charles University SUPERVISOR: doc. RNDr. Vasilis Teodoridis, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The aim of the thesis is to examine the Psárský forest locality in the Prague-West region as regards its suitability for a school science excursion. The principal objective of the thesis was to prepare and take a comprehensive science excursion to Psárský forest and verify its educational efficiency for pupils of lower secondary school grades by means of pedagogical research. The research was carried out through didactical tests comparing the initial knowledge before the excursion (pretest) and acquired knowledge after the excursion (posttest). The didactical concept of the science excursion to Psárský forest was elaborated in accordance with the key aspects of the field biology didactics and based on complex evaluation of the fields of interest for the excursion planned to become a basis for the excursion contents and selection of suitable places for excursion activities. In addition to this, subsequent research via the attitude questionnaire to identify the excursions benefits within natural science education from...

TCAP Scores and Per Pupil Expenditures: Statewide Changes Before and After Tennessee’s First to the Top Act

Cantrell, Martha Ely 01 December 2013 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between the changes in Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) scores and the changes in Per Pupil Expenditures (PPE) after the enactment of First to the Top Act of 2010 and the receipt of $501,000,000 in federal Race to the Top (RTTT) grant monies. Half of that money was retained by Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) for education reform initiatives. The other half was awarded to each Local Education Agency (LEA) according to the Title I formula after TDOE approval of individual Scopes of Work. Reform initiatives included transition to Common Core State Standards, changes to standardized testing, teacher evaluation system reflecting teacher effect partly based on student achievement, changes to tenure, and establishment of an Achievement School District for low-performing schools. Fast-paced reforms and increasing accountability for student achievement and gap closure brought a climate of pressure and tension. Secondary data were readily available on the Tennessee Report Card from TDOE’s website (www.tn.gov/education). Data from each LEA were collected, organized, and analyzed in the areas of PPE; TCAP scores in math, reading/language arts, and science for 2010, 2011, and 2012; and student population. No significant relationships were found between the changes in PPE and the changes in TCAP scores. Significant differences were found between the math scores for Year 1 and Year 2. No significant differences were found between the reading/language arts scores for Year 1. A significant difference was found between the reading/language arts scores from 2010 to 2012. Significant differences were found for the science scores for both time periods; however, Year 1 science scores fell while 2010 to 2012 science scores rose. Mixed results were found when investigating the relationship between PPE and number of students. This study indicates the importance of careful discussions of how school funds are spent, perhaps even more than how much money is spent. Implications for further study might include qualitative investigations of the perceptions of stakeholders at all levels about the climate during the fast-paced reforms. Further study of data for Years 3 and 4 of the grant is also recommended.

Elevhälsan från insidan : En kvalitativ studie av elevhälsans salutogena och förebyggande förändringsarbete

Soxbo, Linn January 2022 (has links)
All schools must have access to a pupil health care team where dilemmas that arise in pedagogical practice must be treated with the aim of preventing students from getting into school difficulties. Pupil health care teams must have access to multiple professions who, based on their professional perspective, must nuance the perceived problem and find a consensus on how this should be handled in the best way. Based on guidelines from the School Act, this work must now take place from a salutogenic (health-promoting) and preventive perspective. This entails a work of change within the pupil health team that affects the school as an organization. The study has investigated how the salutogenic and preventive work of change imposed on schools affects pupil health's work in dealing with school difficulties. This qualitative study has used semi-structured interviews and observations as a method, in order to gain knowledge about the work of the pupil health teams. Six interviews were conducted with professions that belongs to pupil health team (principal, special education need teacher, school psychologist). In addition, six observations of student health meetings were carried out at three different schools. Collected data were then analyzed based on concepts related to organizational learning to create an understanding of how change of work develops. The results of the study show that there is an awareness among the pupil health professions that they are expected to work salutogenically and preventively, but they express difficulties in how this should be carried out in practice. There are questions about who should do it, how it should be structured, whether it is already being done and if they already work in this way, there is a risk of not taking care of the children who are already in school difficulties. The pupil health teams that are investigated have access to several different professions and strive for cooperation and that the different professional perspectives are taken into account. However, the interviews show that this cooperation does not always work fully and that the different professional languages can make cooperation difficult. The principal's role as the one who contributes with visions, structure and the release of resources is noticed in the study as essential for the change work to be able to lead to organizational learning and competence development for the entire organization and not just individual employees. Ways of adding competence within the college are noticed in the study such as tutoring time with a special education needs teacher or the presence of the pupil health team's professions at ”årskurslags”-meetings. The responsibility for students who have found themselves in school difficulties should not be left to the individual teacher, but should be handled in consensus with the pupil health professions.

Varför gör vi på detta vis? : En litteraturstudie för intresseskapande i naturvetenskapliga ämnen i årskurs 4–6

Haby, Håkan, Emilsson, Jenny, Andersson, Robin January 2023 (has links)
The Swedish National Agency for Education and the Swedish School Inspectorate raised a red flag that pupils' interest in science lowered between year 4 and year 8. The purpose of this literature study was to investigate possible ways to conduct science education in a way to promote and to maintain pupils’ interest in science. This purpose led to the two research questions: - What work methods can be used to promote and maintain pupils’ interest in science? - What aspects are important in the process of selecting subject content, to promote and maintain pupils’ interest in science? Ten different studies that focused on pupils' interest in science, or lack of, in science were analysed to find solutions to the problem at hand. The results showed five topics, all of which had a positive impact on pupils' interest in science. Methods such as communicative work, inquiry-based science education and laborative work, together with aspects of subject content such as science in an everyday context, pupils' influence and pupil involvementwere all key factors to gaining pupils' interest. This study points out how work methods and teachers’ didactic choices can be used to increase pupils' interest. We further on discuss how the new Swedish curriculum may be incompatible with such work. As well as how, or if, our pupils’ interest and knowledge will be able to coexist through primary school science education.
