The Swedish Democrats Ideological Foundation and Affiliation : An Idea- and Ideology Analysis of the Swedish Democrats Principle Program 2011 and Election Manifesto 2014

Ujkani, Venera January 2017 (has links)
Since the Swedish Democrats established in 1988, debates and discussions have occurred regarding the party's ideological foundation and affiliation. This study is based primarily on a qualitative textual analysis, an idea- and ideology analysis and ideal types. The study's purpose is to discover which of the following political ideas and ideologies; fascism, populism, conservatism and socialism are most prominent in the Swedish Democrats election manifesto (2014) respectively principle program (2011). At my disposal, the study consists of two research questions; To what extent are there general features of socialism, populism, fascism and conservatism in the Swedish Democrats principle program respectively election manifesto? Which ideology is more prominent in the principle program respectively election manifesto? The theoretical section summarises the different ideologies central themes/discussions and view of democratic governance, the nation, the economic system respectively international governance. When conducting the analysis, the focus is on the Swedish Democrats central themes/discussions and view of democratic governance, the nation, the economic system respectively international governance and how the party's views relate to the political ideologies and ideas. The conducted analysis reveals features of all four ideologies, especially conservatism and populism.

"Ett jämställt försvar är ett starkare försvar" : - En kvalitativ textanalys av Försvarsmaktens jämställdhetsdokument / ”A gender-equal defense is a stronger defense” : – A qualitative textual analysis of the Swedish Armed Forces’ gender equality documents

Schmidt, Olivia January 2023 (has links)
This study examines the implementation of gender equality policies within the SwedishArmed Forces. Through a theoretical base of Olsson's implementation theory this study uses aqualitative textual analysis to analyze the government’s directives outlined in appropriationsdirections, the organization’s gender equality plans, and the annual reports. The paper seeks tounderstand the factors that may influence the organization’s imp lementation process andoutcomes by applying the central concepts of the theory understanding, capability, andwillingness . The findings of this study demonstrate a willingness from both the governmentand the Armed Forces to enhance gender equality withi n the organization, but that theincrease occurs slowly and as a result the objectives are not met or are lowered. The studyindicate that the implementation process can be hampered by unclear political directives, horizontal communication problems and dif ficulties in getting the gender equality issue to beconsidered a priority throughout the organization. By providing insights into the SwedishArmed Forces’ efforts towards gender equality, this study contributes to the broaderunderstanding of organizatio nal implementation processes and the challenges faced inpromoting gender equality within a large hierarchical and bureaucratic defense organization.

: A Qualitative Framing Analysis on the Representation of a Terrorist Crime and a Hate Crime

Ågren, Jessica, Koppel Eriksson, Mathilda January 2016 (has links)
This study focuses on the media's representation of the phenomenon terrorism in the news coverage in the press. More specifically the news coverage of Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet from the three following days after the suicide bombing in Stockholm 2010, which is classified as a terrorist crime, and the school attack in Trollhättan 2015, which is classified as a hate crime, is researched. Both crimes are however based on the definition found in Swedish law terrorism. The aim of the study is to see what is emphasised and what is understated when it comes to terrorism in order to gain a wider knowledge and understanding for how the phenomenon terrorism is represented in the media. Framing is used both as theory and method to access this. The theoretical framework also includes representation since this explains how the media's depictions shape people's views of different issues. Ten of the eleven focus points proposed by J. W. Tankard is used to research the chosen articles. In the analysis a number of overarching themes, or frames, were revealed and these frames were compared between the two cases. Among other things the results showed that there was a strong connection between terrorism and islam in the news coverage, where the religion was depicted as the motive for violence. The perpetrators were in both cases represented as outsiders of both their local communities and the country of Sweden, and especially the suicide bomber in Stockholm was connected with networks and organisations which means that he is portrayed as a religious terrorist. Meanwhile the perpetrator in Trollhättan is seen as an independently acting individual who is framed as mentally ill.

Andersson, Mikael, Fornell-Olsson, Robin January 2017 (has links)
In this Bachelor Thesis The Writers Aim To investigate the portrayal of the Soviet Union in the cold war. This portrayal is investigated using two different approaches, one qualitative and one quantitative. The qualitative method examine, through a textual analysis, the portrayal of the Soviet Union in two schoolbooks produced in different years. The first textbook produced in the year of 1996 and the second one in 2012. The quantitative method approach the problem by using a content analysis were the aim focus is to see if the portrayal of the Soviet Union is more positive than negative or vice versa. This is Examined By using a formulation called the coefficient of imbalance, Which is applied to classify content data as positive or negative. Four books are included in the quantitative content analysis, the earliest one is produced in 1986 and the latest in 2011. Both analysis uses the same theoretical background and previous researches, the theoretical background is in this case the use of history. Klas-Göran Karlssons typology over the use of history is the base of the theoretical background. Both analysis are presented separately to be presented together beneath "7. Slutsats" and "8. Diskussion". By merging the two analysis the two authors Could draw a conclusion. The conclusion show That the textbooks portray the Former Soviet Union in a dismissive manor. Some of the use of history had influenced the content in the textbooks, but the Majority didn't. The two use of history that had influenced the textbooks were “non-use of history” and “ideological history”. But the authors clarify that “none-use of history” has affected the portrayal of the cold war history of the Soviet Union.

Feminism, Consumer Culture, and Cannabis : A Textual Analysis of Broccoli Magazine

Lee, Caitlyn January 2019 (has links)
Modern media patterns show feminist narratives being used to market different consumer products in the name of female empowerment and emancipation. Typically, the industries targeted have historically been dominated by male perspectives and aim to perpetuate a capitalist consumer culture. The newly legalized cannabis industry in North America, has seen an increase in female participation both in production and consumption. This thesis takes Broccoli, an all-female produced magazine about cannabis, as a case to textually analyze how feminist narratives are used to appeal to their majority female and non-binary audience to a cannabis consumer lifestyle. In the analysis I have found that the magazine is critical to postfeminist notions of consumer culture, while simultaneously working within them in order to act as pioneers, holding a female-oriented space within the industry.

Explorando o uso do computador na formaÃÃo de professores de ciÃncias e matemÃtica à luz da aprendizagem significativa e colaborativa / EXPLORING THE USE OF COMPUTERS IN TEACHER OF MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE IN THE LIGHT OF THE SIGNIFICANT AND COLLABORATIVE LEARNING

Adriano Silveira Machado 25 May 2012 (has links)
The computer and information technologies and communication in the twenty-first century have represented a benchmark, the current knowledge society in which data and information accessed via the Web, can potentially generate new scientific knowledge. Need is then articulate the pedagogical TDIC to the classroom by integrating them into the curriculum, aiming at (re) vision about doing science (in) school. Taking as significant theoretical learning and collaborative learning seeking to broaden the learning strategies, was made use of the constructivist theory of Valens, in order to reflect on the apprehension of knowledge with the use of the computer as a tool for facilitating learning. Thus began this research entailing the (re) building collaborative scientific and mathematical education in basic education based on collaboration and employment of TDIC to develop this thesis. The field of analysis of the research was the discipline of Mathematics and Science Teaching, offered in 2010 for students of the Professional Masters in Teaching Science and Mathematics. The methodological approach employed in the research was qualitative textual analysis. This analysis consisted of the investigation data that prioritizes assessment of written reports, seeks to elaborate new meanings and understandings about the broader problems analyzed. The textual analysis was based on qualitative (three) distinct aspects: the process of unitarization or disassembly of the texts studied, the process of categorization or establishment of relations between the identified information and communication. Support tools were employed to pesquisaÃÃo twenty-nine forums and tool profile within the AVA TELEDUC trying to understand the interplay between-transcribed reports produced in forums, to verify the underlying aspects related to the construction of knowledge and learning telecolaborativa. The opinions, reinterpretation and experimental reports whose contents were assimilated constituted a corpus analysis to verify the learning process and the relationships involved in the process of cooperation between teachers, while the circumstances that promote conceptual and attitudinal changes in teachers Pupils in the process of strictu sensu education

The art of rejection - why is the nuclear ban treaty dismissed by the nuclear states?

Pitkäsalo, Roosa January 2022 (has links)
Disarmament remains a contested topic within the nuclear weapons debate and it is included as one of the mutually reinforcing pillars of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). However, when the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) was mandated by UNGA in 2016 and later entered into force in 2021, it was immediately rejected by all nuclear-weapons states – China, France, Russia, the UK and the US – and their allies. The paradox of such a negative response to the new treaty despite their alleged loyalty to the disarmament pillar of the NPT was the starting point of the thesis and was examined through the theoretical lenses of constructivism, neo-liberal institutionalism and structural realism to pinpoint which offered the most tangible answer to the question at hand. The research was conducted by utilizing the method of qualitative content analysis on statements and working papers by the five nuclear-weapons states, and it concluded that – while all theories brought up interesting points – structural realism provided the most useful perspective on the matter through its take on states’ insecurity towards each other

Ohlsén Salahshour, Hanna January 2024 (has links)
This study investigates whether there are differences in the Swedish Armed Forces' gender equality work before and after the introduction of gender-neutral conscription. Previous research indicates that military organizations often encounter resistance in gender equality work, due to deeply entrenched norms. Theoretically grounded in the concept of gender as a social construct and a top-down perspective within implementation theory, this study focuses on three critical factors for successful implementation: clarity, participation, and motivation. The research is structured as a case study. The pre-conscription period spans from the years 2014 to 2017, while the post-conscription period covers the years 2018 to 2022. The study employs qualitative text analysis of the Swedish Armed Forces' official documents, including regulatory letters, action plans, and annual reports. It examines three levels within the organization: policy formulation, decision-makers, and the operational level. The findings reveal differences in gender equality work between the two time periods with policy formulation and decision-making levels, indicating a decline in critical factors following the introduction of conscription. However, this does not seem to have impacted the practical implementation of gender equality measures, as evidenced at the operational level. The study suggests that other informal factors may influence gender equality work, warranting further research in this area.

Hard as iron or Hot as hell : En kvalitativ textanalys av kvinnoframställningar i Close-Up Magazine och Sweden Rock Magazine

Jönsson, David, Bergström, Sofia January 2015 (has links)
Tre tydliga kvinnliga stereotyper framträdde i resultatet. / The aim of this paper was to examine how women are portrayed in the Swedish metal magazines Close-Up Magazine and Sweden Rock Magazine from a gender theoretical and social constructivist perspective. Since the majority of the gender related media research have focused on pictures in fashion and advertising, there is a lack of awareness regarding how women are portrayed in other genres. This study’s objective was to examine pictures in these magazines in order to identify female stereotypes and compare them to established stereotypes from previous studies. In total 28 pictures from 15 magazines, that were published in 2013, were analyzed based on the understanding of feminist theory and Goffman’s theory of gender display. Three distinctive female stereotypes appeared in the results. These were titled The tough, The compassionate and The objectified. The last two are well known in the media research field while The tough woman, who show signs of aggression, contempt and superiority, has not appeared in previous studies. This new stereotype's view of the observer, which has not been defined in previous studies, we decided to call The glare. The results show a greater variety of stereotypes than what has been discussed in prior media related research. They also indicate that there is no uniform female stereotype and that they vary depending on genre and cultural context.
