Kvinnors och mäns karriärmöjligheter i redovisningsbranschen

Karlsson, Stina, Falk, Wilma January 2018 (has links)
Equality between women and men at senior positions is a well-discussed topic. Previously research on the subject has been done in the audit industry, but not in the same extent in the accounting industry. The purpose of the essay is to investigate and compare women´s and men´s career opportunities in the accounting industry. This study adopts deductive reasoning and employs a quantitative analysis. To satisfy the purpose, data has been collected through a survey sent to women and men at accounting industries. An interview has also been conducted to get background information about the accounting industry. The study is based on the theory; Social Role Theory. The theoretical framework presents the following factors that can affect woman’s and men´s career opportunities; risk, network, family and homosocialization/Queen Bee Syndrome. The factors have led to eight hypotheses and been the basis for the questions in the survey. The hypotheses were tested in a regression analysis where career opportunities represented the dependent variable. The result showed that four of the eight hypotheses had a significant relationship. Our essay showed that network and Queen Bee Syndrome had a significant relationship with career opportunities, while risk and network become significant in men´s tests. The study has thus concluded that there are some differences between the career opportunities of women and men, but not in the same extent in the accounting industry as the former research.

The field research is based on direct observations in the places where the drag queen performances happen in Fortaleza such as nightclubs, bars and other cabaret entertainment clubs, as well as on the collection of data in more than 50 interviews in life-story model recorded between the years 2004 and 2007 with drag queens, transformists, transsexuals and transvestites in this city. The ritualistic and performative aspects of the drag queen experience is evidenced through an analysis of what these characters name “montagem” (cross-dressing), the author can conclude that an becoming-artist can be found by the drag queens in the form of certain liminalities. The theoretical scope of this work is based on the anthropology of the ritual, the ethno-aesthetics, the Performance Studies, the Queer Theory and the sociology of agency. The methodology follows the steps of a meta-etnography in dialogue with the cartography experience, developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari.

Images of a Gendered Kingship: Visual Representations of Hatshepsut and Her Influence on Images of Nefertiti

Hilliard, Kristina Marie 08 1900 (has links)
I investigate why gendered images of Hatshepsut influenced androgynous images of Nefertiti in New Kingdom Egypt and how Nefertiti and Akhenaten used their images in the promotion of their monotheistic religion; through a contextual, stylistic and feminist examination of the images. Hatshepsut cultivated images of herself to legitimize her rule in relation to canonical kings before her. Similarly, Nefertiti represented herself as a figure indiscernible from Akhenaten, creating an image of female co-rulership. Although the visual representations of both Hatshepsut and Nefertiti differ, the concepts behind each are analogous. They both manipulated androgyny to create images displaying powerful women equal in status to male Egyptian kings.

Análisis contrastivo del doblaje y la subtitulación en inglés y en español de la serie animada Super Drags en relación con la representación del dragqueenismo en la versión en portugués / Contrastive analysis of the English and the Spanish dubbing and subtitling of the animated series Super Drags regarding the dragqueenism representation in the Portuguese version

Bustamante Almeida de Souza, Tainara Maria, Cotrina Santa Cruz, Diego David 01 July 2019 (has links)
This research covers the fields of dragqueenism and audiovisual translation. Both fields have grown considerably in recent years as a result of the audiovisual content spread via Internet and streaming platforms. Nowadays, there are far more contents about drag queens that have been dubbed or subtitled into different languages. However, translation and dragqueenism are two fields rarely explored together, especially in animated series. Therefore, this research analyzes the representation of dragqueenism in the animated series Super Drags in its source version and translated versions into Spanish and English. The aim is to determine how the protagonists’ dragqueenism is represented in the dubbed and subtitled versions in Spanish and English compared to the source version. Hence, the study seeks to be a contribution to audiovisual translation regarding sexual and gender diversity. / Trabajo de investigación

Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum

Dewald, John 01 January 2017 (has links)
Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum is the first edition of a book for all audiences but especially targeting children. The story follows Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum as they explore wonderland, encountering famous characters including the Queen of Hearts, the Catepillar, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the White Rabbit, as well as a set of new characters at well. The account is entirely fictional, and any character or event that bares any resemblance to a real person or something that happened in real life is completely and only a coincidence. I would like to give a special thanks to all my friends that helped in the writing process; I would write an extensive list, but not everyone has a facebook and I don't want to spell anyone's name wrong. Thanks guys. The book is meant to be a fun and light read; enjoy.

Communities of Resistance: Welfare Queens and the Infrapolitics of Black Hair Tutorials on Youtube

Johnson, ReAndra 01 January 2017 (has links)
The author raises the question of what black women do to resist acts taken by the government to control their bodies such as the welfare queen trope. Many authors demonstrate that the welfare queen is used to control black women as a labor force as well as their reproduction. An infrapolitical reading of black hair tutorials is done to analyze the ways that black hair care is a form of political resistance. Robin Kelley's use of infrapolitics to understand actions taken by working class black people is used as a model.

Exploring the utility of computer technologies and human faculties in their spatial capacities to model the archaeological potential of lands: Holocene archaeology in northeast Graham Island, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada

Sanders, Adrian 04 November 2009 (has links)
Search strategies have been a central activity within archaeology, varying with the types of questions being addressed, technological tools available, and theoretical proclivity of the investigator. This thesis will test the utility of LiDAR remote sensing and GIS spatial technologies against a phenomenological field methodology. Modeled lands include select areas within Northeast Graham Island, Haida Gwaii, located off the northern Pacific coast of Canada. The time scale in question includes the entire Holocene. A history of the landscape concept is evaluated, fleshing out a decisive working term. An Interdisciplinary Multilogical Framework is devised, linking the two modeling methods with a breadth of information sources on the physical and cultural attributes of landscapes. This dialectic approach culminates in a holistic anthropological practice, and grounds for interpretive analysis of the archaeological record. The role of archaeological predictive modeling in the contemporary socio-political context of heritage management in British Columbia is discussed.

Helen, Later: An Original Play

Throop, Cheryl Ann 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this play is to dramatize the change of government in ancient Greece from a matriarchy to a patriarchy and from rule by the Ionian to rule by the Dorian Greeks through the last years of Helen of Troy. Faced with a challenge by her husband, Menelaus, who wants his sons to rule, Helen manages through intrigue to arrange for her daughter to gain the throne. Helen herself becomes a "goddess."
