Krizová připravenost Nemocnice ve Frýdku-Místku na vybrané mimořádné události / Crisis readiness of the hospital in Frydek - Mistek relating to selected extraordinary events.

ŠMÍDOVÁ, Monika January 2019 (has links)
The diploma thesis "Crisis readiness of the hospital in Frydek - Mistek relating to selected extraordinary events" deals with issues concerning current state of readiness of the Hospital in Frydek-Mistek for selected extraordinary events and the tries to create methods and approaches to improve the hospital's emergency preparedness. I chose mainly qualitative research with quantitative elements for answering research question. First step was random choice from hospitals in Moravian-Silesian Region, so I visited the hospital in Frydek-Mistek and I made data retrieval dealing with extraordinary events. Based on my own observations and the provided documents I detected an incorrect crisis preparedness plan and because it is important to have such an operative plan, which deals with extraordinary events and the inaccurate plan could place hospital to risk, I decided to revise the plan by using special methology, which is set up for this issue. Since the risks involved in the crisis preparedness plan were insufficient in my opinion, I conducted my own risk analysis of the external and internal environment focusing on hospital operation in risk. Then I used the "KARS" method, which is a qualitative risk analysis within its correlation. I determined the risks that should be resolved primarily and after that I revised the plan by using new knowledge. The result of the diploma thesis is a draft plan for crisis readiness of the hospital in Frydek - Mistek, which could be used and refilled by hospital managment alternatively. The plan will be handed over to the hospital management.

Success After Failure: An Examination of Credit Recovery Options and their Effect on College- and Career-Readiness

Johnson, Kathryn B. 01 January 2015 (has links)
More than ever before, educators and researchers are keeping a keen eye on student college- and career-readiness. The widely adopted Common Core State Standards were written with the explicit goal of helping students to be college- or career-ready by the time they graduate from high school. However, many students experience setbacks, such as course failure, within their educational career placing them at risk for not reaching this goal. Because the ACT can predict student success in college, states often use benchmark scores from the exam to measure student college- and career-readiness. A student who fails to learn fundamental concepts in either Algebra I or Geometry will not score as well on the ACT and is not likely to meet benchmark scores for college- and career-readiness. It is important, then, for schools to provide credit recovery opportunities to students who do not pass these classes so they can master the content and earn a passing grade. This research study examines different credit recovery options offered at one high school to students who failed Algebra I and/or Geometry. These options included re-taking the class, summer school, an online course, and a more unique mastery based program. Because students were nested within teachers, hierarchical linear modeling was used to determine associations between credit recovery options and the ACT mathematics score which is used to determine college- and career-readiness. Also considered were the effects of gender, race, socioeconomic status, and previous achievement indicated by PLAN mathematics scores. For Algebra I, no variables were found to be statistically significant as fixed effects, and only re-taking the class, PLAN mathematics scores, and identification as White were found to be statistically significant as random effects. For Geometry, identification as being African American was the only variable found to be statistically significant as a fixed effect, and re-taking the course and participation in summer school were both found to be statistically significant as random effects.

'n Diagnostiese voorspellingsmodel vir wiskundeprestasie aan 'n universiteit

Snyman, Jacobus Johannes 01 September 2014 (has links)
D.Ed. (Didactics) / The main objective of this research is to develop a diagnostic model for the prediction of mathematics achievement for first year university students. In order to design this model of prediction, the following objectives were formulated: * to establish a profile of a typical successful and unsuccessful student in Mathematics; * to calculate the probable final mark achieved by a student in Mathematics; * to establish the probability of success by a student in Mathematics. In this research various factors determinating the academic performance of first year students at a university are discussed. Firstly the transition from school to university and its implications on the student, the teaching of a subject and its influence, and those factors inherent in the student are investigated. The factors inherent to the student are described as cognitive factors (intelligence, aptitude and previous performance) and non-cognititve factors (study methods and attitudes, interest, anxiety, personality and adjustment).

The Relationship of School-Community Partnerships with ACT Benchmark Scores in Rural Tennessee Schools

Eubanks, Kari 01 December 2017 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine if a relationship existed between the quality of school-community partnerships and the average score of each ACT subtest for rural Tennessee high school students. Specifically, the researcher examined the following school-community partnerships: business partnerships, university partnerships, service learning partnerships, school-linked service integration, and faith-based partnerships (Sanders, 2006). Administrators from 62 rural Tennessee high schools rated the partnerships present in their schools using the Improving Community Partnership Quality rating scale developed by Sanders (2006). Each of these ratings was compared to the participating school’s mean score for each ACT benchmark to determine whether these partnerships could be linked to success on the ACT. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated for each partnership type and each ACT subtest. The results revealed that a statistically significant relationship did not exist between school-community partnerships and ACT subtest scores.

A comparison of the subtests of the Gesell School Readiness Screening Test as predictors of reading achievement

Sapp, Dolores W. 01 January 1984 (has links) (PDF)
The major purpose of this study was to determine which subtests of the Gesell School Readiness Screening Test are the best predictors of reading achievement. The procedure used was a stepwise multiple regression to determine which subtests were the best predictors of achievement for each reading section of the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills. Seventy-two students from four schools were evaluated for this study. Three testing instruments were administered to these students. They were the Gesell test, the Otis-Lennon test, and the reading subtests of the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills. The Gesell test consisted of eight subtests: Cubes, Name, Copy Forms, Numbers, Incomplete Man, Interview, Animals, and Interests. The best single predictor subtest was Interview. Four separate regression analyses were computed, one for each of the subtests of the reading section of the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills. In each case, the Gesell subtest Interview entered the stepwise regression at step one. After the information for Interview was entered into the regression equation, the remaining seven subtest scores added very little to the prediction. In summary, although there was some predictive ability in the Gesell test, the level of predictability was not strong. Post factum interpretation of the low predictability was presented as were recommendations for Volusia County in the use of the Gesell test for placement of students in the kindergarten-first grade transitional class.

Evaluating Innovation Readiness - A Case Study / Utvärdera innovationers mognadsgrad - En fallstudie

Rosén, Josefin January 2018 (has links)
To remain competitive and create a sustainable business, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) need to develop both incremental and radical innovation. What many companies struggle with is to evaluate the potential of innovation initiatives. The development of products and innovations has over the years changed from a traditional technocentric view into a more human-centered view with the user’s desirability in focus. Also, the increased global competition and interest in business model innovation are forcing companies to verify the viability of the offering to their customers. While Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is an established tool for evaluating the technology, there are no holistic methods which also evaluates the readiness of the users and business.  The purpose of this thesis was to review available theory and methods used for evaluating the potential and readiness of innovation initiatives and to develop a holistic methodology to link the business, user, and technology related innovation activities. The innovation readiness is a combination of business, user, and technology readiness. The study started with a literature study where existing methods were presented from the three aspects; business, user, and technology. Since many critical decisions are made in the front-end of the innovation, the focus in the study has been to identify methods in the early stages of the process. This thesis was performed in collaboration with Company X, a global equipment manufacturer which also was the main object in this study. The findings from a case study performed at Company X were verified by comparing the identified methods and processes used at five external companies. Data was gathered by conducting semi-structured interviews both at Company X and the external companies and finding were compared in a cross-case analysis. In general, the methods used at the OEMs are quite similar, and all manage to balance the three aspects; business, user, and technology.  Based on the findings from the study of the companies and the literature review, a methodology framework is suggested which presents existing evaluating methods from the three aspects business, user, and technology.
