The thesis deals with the religious dimension of life at Czech secularized school. In its theoretical part, using the theoretical sources, it tries to give some information about different conceptions of religion, about the psychology and sociology´s point of view, about the personality of the teacher and school culture as well and shortly about the development of our school system in the history of the Czech Republic. In its practical part it tries to answer the question about the existence of the religious dimension of life at particular Czech school with the research and its analysis.

Previous issue date: 16 / Nenhuma / Atento à problemática do ensino religioso, minha reflexão se insere num percurso histórico, do qual participo ativamente desde a década de 1960. Associando-me a outros profissionais do ensino, em âmbito estadual e nacional, refleti com eles sobre as mudanças contextuais, procurando ressignificar a compreensão do ensino religioso e reconfigurar a sua prática, dentro da realidade cambiante. Tais reflexões foram elaboradas em textos, parcialmente publicados, e levadas à prática em projetos de formação de professores e em subsídios para aulas de educação religiosa. Com esta atividade, também entrei em contato com autoridades de ensino, no sentido de promover programas de atualização dos professores na disciplina aqui em questão. Agora, no trabalho de tese, insiro-me neste processo, o qual constitui, por assim dizer, o chão de minhas considerações, que desenvolvo em três partes:1) um olhar histórico sobre a evolução do ensino religioso, com destaque às mudanças ocorridas, visando a uma melhor compreensão do mesmo, / Having in mind the problem with the religious teaching, my reflection is inserted in a historical course of which I have been participating actively since the 1960’s. By associating myself with other professionals of the teaching, in both state and national field of action, I reflected with them about the contextual changes, trying to give a new meaning to the understanding of the religious teaching and to reshape its practice within the changeable reality. Such reflections were elaborated in texts, partially published, and taken into practice in projects of formation of teachers and in subsidies for classes of religious education. With this activity, I also got in touch with teaching authorities, in the sense of promoting programs of the updating of the teachers in the subject of this matter. strategy for HIV prevention and its implications for development was carried out. The
Christian Action Fellowship, a student Christian organization at the University of the
Witwatersrand provided a case for the research study. The alternative development
paradigm informed my discussion of the message of pre-marital sexual abstinence in
relation to development. In particular, it is its emphasis on participatory development
and on the fact that development focus should be given to particular localities that I drew
from the paradigm. However, the paradigm falls short of capturing the religious
dynamics pertaining to local realities. Thus the results of the research study I carried out
are meant to contribute to the development of the paradigm by factoring in the religious
dimension of local reality in discourse of development. In this study, the religious
dimension of local reality was captured in my focus on the message of pre-marital sexual
abstinence as advanced within the evangelical faith based movement in South Africa.
Furthermore, this research study is meant to contribute to discourse of development by
stimulating intellectual reflection on the message of pre-marital sexual abstinence as a
strategy of prevention and its implications for development in South Africa.
The study demonstrated involvement by the evangelical movement in the fight against
the HIV/AIDS pandemic. The study further demonstrated the existence of particular
methods employed to advance the message of pre-marital sexual abstinence as a
prevention strategy against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. One such method is the strategy of
identification. This method is employed to appeal to the targeted audience when

presenting a case. Other methods employed are debate and argumentation as well as
rhetoric. The deployment of these methods point to a religious construction of an identity
that upholds pre-marital sexual abstinence as a lifestyle and a better HIV preventive
option to other strategies of prevention. This research study is recommending further
work in the areas where HIV prevention interventions and development interventions
intersect within the local context (in all its dimensions) of identity construction.

community in Catalão-GO, the magical-religious dimension of the words, which, in the view
of subjects of research, has the power to influence the course of events. The material of study
were composed by five narrative episodes, with six people, dwellers or former residents of the
community, in a qualitative study of mixed character, which involved studies in
office/laboratory and field. We assumed that the permeated linguistic events of popular religion,
especially catholicism, would present a magical-religious dimension whose the elements
external to language and resulting from agreements concluded by speaking community over
time, could give, or not, the pragmatic meaning of the words or language constructions, with
their power according to the context in which they perform. The recordings, transcripts,
inventory and analysis of data, in lexicultural perspective (PESSOA, 2005; PINTO CORREIA,
2013; DURANTI, 2000 among others), revealed that the extra-linguistic universe of the
subjects under study - the circumstances, the social conventions and the historical and cultural
facts - that circumscribe the religious texts in their daily lives, participates in the construction
of the meanings attributed to linguistic signs of field of the worldview of popular catholicism.
Finally, the study corroborated the thesis that language is intrinsically related to the culture of
a people, especially in its lexical configuration, where the cultural traits of a people are better
evidenced (BIDERMAN, 1998; SOUZA, 2014). In this context, the words, as a key element of
the practices analyzed in this study, is considered as a element of wisdom of human that,
understood as action and medium of communication, acquires the power to act in the world,
taking a magic-religious dimension. / Este estudo propôs compreender, em textos orais de natureza religiosa da comunidade São
Domingos, em Catalão-GO, a dimensão mágico-religiosa da palavra que, na visão dos sujeitos
da pesquisa, tem o poder de interferir no curso dos acontecimentos. O material de estudo se
compôs de cinco episódios narrativos, com seis pessoas, moradores ou ex-moradores da
comunidade, em uma pesquisa qualitativa, de caráter misto, que envolveu estudos em
gabinete/laboratório e em campo. Partimos da hipótese de que eventos linguísticos eivados de
religiosidade popular, especialmente o catolicismo, apresentariam uma dimensão mágicoreligiosa
cujos elementos, externos à linguagem e resultantes de acordos estabelecidos pela
comunidade falante ao longo do tempo, poderiam dar, ou não, o sentido pragmático às palavras
ou construções linguísticas, dotadas de poder conforme o contexto em que se realizam. As
gravações, transcrições, inventário e análise de dados, em perspectiva lexicultural (PESSOA,
2005; PINTO CORREIA, 2013; DURANTI, 2000, entre outros), revelaram que o universo
extralinguístico dos sujeitos em estudo – as circunstâncias, as convenções sociais e os fatos
históricos e culturais – que circunscrevem os textos religiosos no seu cotidiano participa da
construção dos sentidos atribuídos aos signos linguísticos da esfera da mundividência do
catolicismo popular. Por fim, o estudo corroborou a tese de que a língua é intrinsecamente
relacionada à cultura de um povo, especialmente na sua configuração léxica, onde os traços
culturais de um povo melhor se evidenciam (BIDERMAN, 1998; SOUZA, 2014). Nesse
contexto, a palavra, enquanto elemento fundamental das práticas analisadas nesse estudo, é
concebida como elemento da sabedoria do homem que, compreendida como ação e meio de
comunicação, adquire o poder de intervir sobre o mundo, assumindo uma dimensão mágicoreligiosa.
