Ethical Aspects of Norwegian Aquaculture

Gyllander, David January 2016 (has links)
The Norwegian government has submitted a report to the Norwegian parliament, concluding that raw oil export can no longer sustain economic growth. Norway is therefore seeking other industries to minimize the economic loss this is causing. Norway is already the largest exporter of salmon and trout in the world. The report states that the government's goal is to increase production to five times today's production by 2050. The ability and desire to grow has its backing from a handful of large companies dominating the aquaculture business and a newly recognized right-wing government eager to make the playroom larger for the aquaculture industry. This paper analyzes the report, using an ethical matrix, looking for ethical arguments from the government as well as defining the stakeholders affected by the government's goal. This thesis' aim is to analyze and discuss the broad range of ethical concerns, based on an ethical matrix, so that a variety of ethical perspectives can be included in an evaluative discussion.

Relatório antropológico e comunidades remanescentes de quilombos: o despertar de uma identidade

Monteiro, Francisco Herbert Pimentel January 2016 (has links)
MONTEIRO, Francisco Herbert. Relatório antropológico e comunidades remanescentes de quilombos: o despertar de uma identidade. 2016. 164f. – Tese (Doutorado) – Universidade Federal do Ceará, Programa de Pós-graduação em Sociologia, Fortaleza (CE), 2016. / Submitted by Gustavo Daher (gdaherufc@hotmail.com) on 2017-09-28T12:31:11Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2017_tese_ fhpmonteiro.pdf: 1176051 bytes, checksum: 92aab6cbbdff6f8a9648acbf4aea50a8 (MD5) / Approved for entry into archive by Márcia Araújo (marcia_m_bezerra@yahoo.com.br) on 2017-09-28T17:43:05Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 1 2017_tese_ fhpmonteiro.pdf: 1176051 bytes, checksum: 92aab6cbbdff6f8a9648acbf4aea50a8 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-09-28T17:43:05Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 2017_tese_ fhpmonteiro.pdf: 1176051 bytes, checksum: 92aab6cbbdff6f8a9648acbf4aea50a8 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016 / With the promulgation of the 1988’s Federal Constitution in Brazil, the spaces for civilian society’s participation in the implementation of public policies had increased substantially. Various minority sectors of the Brazilian society, like indians, women, homossexuals etc. took the streets to claim for their rights. One of this groups who claim their black identity and ancestry was the communities of descendants of former Brazilian slaves. Therefore, the thesis presents its object in the elaboration of an Anthropological Report. This piece is a part of the production in Tecnichal Reports of Identification and Delimitation (RTID). This document is used for the land regularization of the communitary territories of remaining quilombos. The work discusses about the formation of identity and the quilombola territorry starting with the elaboration of the anthropological report and discourse in these communities, implemented by the anthropologist as a social and cientifical praxis. The aim here is to comprehend by the concepts of social movement, civil society, identity, discourse and social-technical networks about how are produced quilombola groups as truths that can be recognized by the Brazilian State. In this discussion we observe that the anthropological report is actively produced by the means of representation. The thesis also approaches of the quilombola communities’ participation as colective subjects and active members in popular organizations of the civillian society. We will see that the quilombola subject, owner of an ex-slave identity, don’t configurates itself as a illuminist idea of a well centered and unified individual. The identity that was always linked to the State-Nation perspective and now passes by profound transformations of the globalized discourses. One of this transformations will be made by the own scientifical discourse in anthropology.

Aḥādīth al-nabūyah fī al-tafsir allati rawāhā Abū Hurayrah / Prophetic traditions on Qur'anic exegesis narrated by Abu Huraira

Muḥammad Ḥassan Muḥammad 05 1900 (has links)
In Arabic. Arabic script can't be copied into UIR / The importance of this work rests upon the fact that notwithstanding Abu Huraira's eminent status among Prophet Muammad's companions as the most noteworthy reporter of Prophetic traditions on the basis of which scholars have compiled his reports on numerous subjects into separate tracts no research of academic standing has been done on his contributions to Qur'anic exegesis by systematically extracting his narrations and evaluating them. The current dissertation begins by offering this research contribution followed by a discussion of Abu Huraira's biography. Then all his narrations are systematically presented from beginning to end. Such reports contain both explicit and implicit statements that can be traced to the Prophet. Not all verses or chapters of the Qur'an are covered in this way for example there are no reports relating to chapter 77. They are followed by the conclusion the bibliography and appendices on Qur'anic verses and Prophetic reports cited. / Religious Studies and Arabic / M.A. (Islamic Studies)

Riglyne vir die voorbereiding en skryf van voorvonnisverslae deur maatskaplike werkers

Robbertse, Shaun Rosalind 18 March 2014 (has links)
M.A. (Social Work) / The importance of the role of the social worker in the Court in connection with the preparation of pre-sentence reports necessitated an investigation into the expertise with which these reports are being submitted to the Court. " The objectives of the study were to evaluate deficiencies as well as positive elements of pre-sentence reports prepared by social workers and, were necessary, to lay down guide lines to ensure that a- properly prepared and authoritative product could be presented to the user (the Court). During the investigation a qualitative approach was followed and the study can be described as exploratoryjdescriptive. Firstly, a study of literature was done through which deficiencies in and guidelines for pre-sentence reports were pointed out. Secondly, structured and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23 interested parties. These interested parties were probation officers and supervisors of three public service departments. Regional Court Prosecutors and Magistrates of the Johannesburg Magistrate's Office, a State Advocate of the office of the public defender, and five legal practitioners who are regularly exposed to pre-sentence reports during proceedings for extenuation of sentence. The "purpose of the semi-structured interviews was to determine the SUbjective experience by interested parties of pre-sentence reports. A brief and structured interview schedule was utilised in order to gather certain general information which was useful for the interpretation of data. It was found that deficiencies and positive elements obtained from literature accorded to a large extent with the perception of interested parties of pre-sentence reports. After deficiencies and positive elements in pre-sentence reports had been abstracted, reasoned conclusions were drawn. In addition guide lines were drawn for the preparation and writing up of pre-sentence reports.

Assisting bug report triage through recommendation

Anvik, John 05 1900 (has links)
A key collaborative hub for many software development projects is the issue tracking system, or bug repository. The use of a bug repository can improve the software development process in a number of ways including allowing developers who are geographically distributed to communicate about project development. However, reports added to the repository need to be triaged by a human, called the triager, to determine if reports are meaningful. If a report is meaningful, the triager decides how to organize the report for integration into the project's development process. We call triager decisions with the goal of determining if a report is meaningful, repository-oriented decisions, and triager decisions that organize reports for the development process, development-oriented decisions. Triagers can become overwhelmed by the number of reports added to the repository. Time spent triaging also typically diverts valuable resources away from the improvement of the product to the managing of the development process. To assist triagers, this dissertation presents a machine learning approach to create recommenders that assist with a variety of development-oriented decisions. In this way, we strive to reduce human involvement in triage by moving the triager's role from having to gather information to make a decision to that of confirming a suggestion. This dissertation introduces a triage-assisting recommender creation process that can create a variety of different development-oriented decision recommenders for a range of projects. The recommenders created with this approach are accurate: recommenders for which developer to assign a report have a precision of 70% to 98% over five open source projects, recommenders for which product component the report is for have a recall of 72% to 92%, and recommenders for who to add to the cc: list of a report that have a recall of 46% to 72%. We have evaluated recommenders created with our triage-assisting recommender creation process using both an analytic evaluation and a field study. In addition, we present in this dissertation an approach to assist project members to specify the project-specific values for the triage-assisting recommender creation process, and show that such recommenders can be created with a subset of the repository data. / Science, Faculty of / Computer Science, Department of / Graduate
