Consequently, it is noticeable the occurrence of environmental problems in terms of its disposal in inappropriate places. Faced with this problem, some studies have been conducted with the aim of developing technologies and alternatives for recycling construction and demolition waste (CDW), motivated by the scarcity of natural resources and reduction of environmental problems generated. The research aims to characterize the recycled aggregates derived from construction and demolition waste (CDW) produced in the Greater Natal-RN and analyze the performance of mortar coating produced with recycled aggregates. The study includes the chemical , physical and microstructural characterization of recycled aggregates , as well as conducting microscopic analysis and laboratory tests in the fresh state (consistency index , water retention , bulk density and content of entrained air ) and in the hardened state ( compressive strength , tensile strength in bending , water absorption by immersion and capillary , mass density and void ratio ) for mortars produced from different levels of substitution of aggregates ( 0, 20 %, 40 %, 60 %, 80 % and 100 %). The results were satisfactory, providing mortars produced with recycled aggregates, smaller mass density and dynamic modulus values as well as an increase in the rates of absorption and porosity. The tensile strength in bending and compression for TP1 (1:2:8) trait were lower for mortars produced with recycled aggregates and the best result was 20% for replacement. For the TP2 (1:8) mapping, there was an increase in resistance to traction and compression and the best result was for 100% replacement of natural aggregates by recycled. The experiments led to the conclusion that the technical and economic point of view that the mortars produced with recycled aggregates can be used in construction, only if there is an effective control in production processes of recycled aggregate and at the dosage of mortars / A ind?stria da constru??o civil ? respons?vel por gerar uma grande quantidade de res?duos em fun??o de suas atividades, ocasionando problemas ambientais, econ?micos e sociais.

Nigéria : contribution à l'étude de l'exécution des décisions en matière territoriale / The judgment of the international court of justice 10 october 2002 on the border dispute (Cameroon v. Nigeria). : contribution to the study of the implementation of decisions relating to land boundary

Owona-Mfegue, Kourra-Félicité 14 October 2013 (has links)
The implementation of international judicial decisions raises one of the questions, if not the fundamental one related to the authority of the decisions rendered by the highest Court of the United Nations. In fact the question is How to ensure effectively, the implementation of sentences whose legal authority is undeniable, but certainly and obviously depending of the (good) will of the States, in law and in fact. Usually two answers seem possible: spontaneous implementation or enforcement. However the experience of the implementation of the Judgment in Land and Maritime Boundary between Cameroon and Nigeria disregard this classic pattern. This is a preventive and early implementation by the parties and third parties, and then a delayed but effective implementation. It led to a probably unique approach in the settlement of judicial disputes. Indeed it is the first time that the UN (i. e ICJ which is the main judicial organ and the Secretary General) without delay for the foreseeable implementation’s difficulties to get involved under Article 94 § 2 of the Charter establishes an early and preventive diplomatic system of implementation. In the view of the ridiculous nature of possible sanctions for non-compliance, the diplomatic realism came to the rescue of the effectiveness of the res judicata. In this most sensitive field in implementing the judgments of the ICJ, the hypothesis in which the Court assigns a disputed territory to a state while another state occupies it in fact and of the hostility of the local populations to the change of the sovereign de facto, the merge between judicial procedure and negotiated procedure is effective. The implementation of this judgment is also original because of its sui generis mechanisms in implementing the decision such as the United Nations Joint Commission or the post-jurisdictional Agreement sponsored by the UN and witnesses States. There is no better example of the African contribution to the effectiveness of the decisions of the ICJ, as far as the peaceful settlement of international disputes is concerned.

L'extinction du jugement civil, contribution à l'étude des effets de l'acte juridictionnel / The extinguishment of the civil judgement, contribution to the study of the effects of the civil judgement

Guez, Marilyn 13 December 2017 (has links)
The extinguishment of a civil judgment refers to the cancellation of the judgment’s effects, which is both a technical cog common to the various extinguishing technical processes and a crucial moment in the life of a civil judgment. This study, which proposes a systematic analysis of the extinguishing technical processes, by highlighting their purpose and legal technique, shows their irreducible diversity and technical complementarity in civil procedure, whether they involve challenging the res judicata (i.e. legal remedies) or not (i.e. time-barring of enforcement or lapsing). The critical analysis of the scope of the extinguishment entails checking, beyond the contentious judgment which definitively resolves the parties' respective claims (archetype of the civil judgment), the normative resilience of other civil judgments, in particular provisional and non-contentious judgments. The variable degree of resistance of the effects of civil judgments to their extinguishment, whether achieved via legal remedies or by other means, is highlighted by a consideration of the more or less restrictive conditions in which the judgments are deprived of their effects. This illustrates the nuances of the normative force of said civil judgments. The scope of the extinguishment is also indicative of the resilience of the secondary effects of the civil judgment. Examining such scope enables one to test the classification of the secondary effects which seem to have been considered so far only from the perspective of the issuance of the civil judgment and the permanence of its effects.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Qu?mica, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2012. / ABSTRACT Nowadays, one cannot ignore the need for developing technologies that support the demands for renewable energy. One of the pathways for production of renewable energy is the transformation of vegetal biomass to liquid fuels. The agro-industrial residues as raw materials are potential candidates for this new energy industry. Thus the aim of the present dissertation was to evaluate the potential of cottonseed cake and crushed malt with peach palm flour as raw materials for the production of second generation ethanol and optimize step of acid pretreatment of lignocellulosic material. Initially was determined the chemical composition of cotton seed cake and crushed malt in relation to the percentages of moisture, ash, ether extract, crude protein, total soluble sugars, starch, hemicellulose, cellulose, lignin, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber. With the results of chemical characterization it was possible to estimate a potential yield of more than 300L of ethanol / ton of each residue. For the optimization of acid pretreatment for hemicelluloses removal was applied a Central Composite Design. The software STATISTICA Version 8.0 (Statsoft Inc., Tulsa,) was used for data analysis. The goodness of fit of the model equation was expressed by the coefficient of determination (R?) and its statistical significance conditioned by F-test. The insoluble material recovered after the optimized pretreatment had starch and hemicellulose fractions completely removed. The hydrolyzate obtained under optimized conditions of pretreatment showed 15.7% of reducing sugars to the crushed malt and 5.9% of reducing sugars for cottonseed cake. The treatment of the hydrolysates with activated charcoal removed no less than 58% of the phenolic compounds present there. Fermentability tests with Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia stipitis have been promising. Fermentation with S. cerevisiae showed a YP/S of 0.30 for cottonseed cake and 0.37 for the crushed malt. Fermentative yields with P. stipitis ranged from 9% to 25% for agro-industrial residues. The experimental data indicate that the cottonseed cake (Gossypium hirsutum L.) and crushed malt has a high potential for the production of bioethanol.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2011. / ABSTRACT Glycerin is a residue of the biodiesel industry, output from the process of vegetable oil transesterification of triglycerides in basic catalyst that will lead to economic, social and environmental impacts due to increased production of biodiesel in Brazil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the application of glycerin, a biodiesel industry waste, came from vegetable oil transesterification of triglycerides by potassium hydroxide catalyst (KOH) as a source of potassium ("K glycerin") on productivity and nutrition of soybeans and on chemical and microbiological characteristics of the soil. Two experiments were conducted under field conditions in a Oxisol (Typic) soil type, at Curvelo, Minas Gerais state, Brazil, and another in the village of Diamantina, Minas Gerais state in a sand soil type (NQ). The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replications. The treatments were three doses of "glycerin K 'corresponding to 50, 100 and 200% of recommended dose of Potassium for soybean and 100% of the dose recommended in the form of KCl and K2SO4 and a treatment without application of K. The recommended dose of K2O were 120 and 80 kg ha -1 for NQ and Oxisoil, respectively. There has been carried out chemical analysis of soil (pH, P, K, Ca, Mg, Al, Al + H, CO, SO4-2) in the soybean harvest and microbiological analysis (microbial basal respiration (BR), microbial biomass carbon (CBM) and metabolic quotient (OKQ (2)) soil at two times (early emergence and soybean harvest) and soybean yield and foliar concentrations of nutrients in the flowering of soybeans. Soybean yield increased with the application of "glycerin K" when the availability of K in the soil was limited, and although lower than the mineral sources of K, it supplied in part the soybeans need for K. The soil microbiota tended to balance at the end of the cycle of soybeans with application of "glycerin K", thus not causing adverse effects on crop and soil. The "glycerin K" does not cause environmental problems to the place where it was applied, but studies are needed to evaluate its long-term use to better understand the dynamics of soil and crop productivity.

Processing, characterisation and oxidation study of the nickel aluminides (βNiAl) for thermal barrier coating applications

Chandio, Ali Dad January 2015 (has links)
Superalloys used in aeroengines are designed to offer superior strength at increasingly higher operating temperatures. In order to optimise the working efficiency and provide additional protection to the components such as turbine blades; a thermal barrier coating (TBC) system is applied. The TBC is a multilayer system consisting of mainly two layers i.e. bond coat (BC) and topcoat (TC). In addition, a third layer grows between the TC and BC during oxidation known as a reaction layer or thermally grown oxide (TGO). The function of the TC (usually, yttria stabilised zirconia (YSZ)) is to provide thermal insulation to aeroengine parts or reduce their surface temperatures; whereas, the BC provides binding between the TC and the substrate, and oxidation resistance to the underlying alloy by forming an adherent and continuous oxide i.e. α-Al2O3. During service, in the absence of mechanical damage to the TBC, most failures are attributed to the BC performance. The most frequently adopted BCs are; β-(Pt, Ni)Al, Pt-γ-Ni/γ’-Ni3Al and MCrAlY. In addition, reactive elements (REs) are incorporated in the BCs due to their ability to enhance oxidation resistance significantly. In the present study βNiAl based coatings/BCs and alloys with and without REs (Zr and Hf) and Pt were prepared. For the coatings CMSX-4 single crystal superalloy was used as a substrate material and pack aluminising/cementation or in-situ chemical vapour deposition (CVD) as a coating process. The isothermal oxidation testing was carried out at 1150oC for 50 and 100 hours in air. The preparation and oxidation performance of a δNi2Al3 coating was carried out, as, this is a starting material for βNiAl matrix based coatings/or BCs. The oxidation of δNi2Al3 coating showed large volumetric changes (thickness variations), multiphase TGO, TGO/coating interface melting and spallation during oxidation. In contrast, the ‘simple βNiAl’ coating (or βNiAl matrix) was found to exhibit comparably enhanced thermal stability than that of the δNi2Al3 coating. Moreover, a detailed study of the simple βNiAl coating was also carried out in order to understand the oxidation performance. The coating before oxidation in the as-deposited condition was found to contain residual compressive stresses of 140 – 200 MPa. In contrast, after oxidation analysis exhibited substantial interdiffusion between the coating and the substrate resulting in a large reduction of the Al content and influx of substrate elements into the coating. This in turn caused coating transformation from βNiAl to the γ’-Ni3Al phase and formation of a multiphase TGO (TiO2, NiAl2O4, and ϴ-Al2O3 intrusion in α-Al2O3). Moreover, the degree of the TGO spallation and residual stresses increased with the oxidation time. In order to enhance the oxidation performance of the βNiAl coatings, the substrate pre-treatment was carried out i.e. CMSX-4 superalloy was electrolytically etched to remove the γ-Ni phase and fabricate βNiAl coatings on the remaining γ’-Ni3Al. This coating is termed as E-βNiAl. In comparison to simple βNiAl, the E-βNiAl coating showed improved spallation resistance. However, E-βNiAl revealed increased surface area due to etching of the substrate and triggered fast TGO growth rates when tested in an un-polished condition. Furthermore, simple βNiAl coatings were doped with Zr and Hf separately using a two-step aluminising method. The appropriate addition of either Zr or Hf was found to reduce the substrate elements (W, Ta, Cr and Ti etc.) in the coating before and after oxidation. After oxidation, examination of the presence of Zr or Hf in the coating was found to confirm the commonly reported beneficial effects. The TGOs grown on these coatings were almost pure α-Al2O3 which subsequently reduced growth and stresses. In addition to Zr/& Hf doped coatings, a study on Hf and Zr doped βNiAl bulk alloys was also carried out in order to understand the dopant effects on the oxidation resistance of βNiAl alloys in the absence of interdiffusion (as in case of coatings). In general, the commonly reported oxidation benefits were confirmed by the addition of these elements such as reduced TGO growth, oxide pegging, a columnar morphology of the TGO and segregation of REs at alumina grain boundaries etc. In addition, two more beneficial effects are suggested to be the ‘TGO crack filling up (or crack-healing)’ and formation of the ‘dense-TGO’. Within this study, the investigation of commercially available Pt-βNiAl BC was also carried out in air and vacuum atmospheres. The results demonstrated that the initial chemistry and elemental distribution (particularly Al/& Pt) was found to affect the TGO growth and phases significantly. In addition to its well established beneficial effects, the main effect of a Pt addition is suggested to be the stabilisation of the βNiAl structure even at a lower Al content.
