11	A King Dyed Pink is Doomed to Die Fuoco, Dante 09 May 2024 (has links) A King Dyed Pink is Doomed to Die is a poetry collection concerned with cruelties waged against queer people—how even the most seemingly innocuous habits of cishet society proliferate a vast catalog of ongoing violence, from microaggressions to murder. Disrupting the accompanying complicity of silence (mine and others') involves not only invoking a propulsive "I" lyric (at once playful and elegiac, confessional and enraged, horny and ashamed) but also creating an unabashed mess of formal modes (theater, journalism, surrealism, visuality, 21st century technology) that, unlike heteronormativity, refuses tidy categorization. Death haunts these poems, whether it be a pigeon fatally dyed pink for a gender reveal party or a queer brutally murdered in a small Virginia town months before I moved there. As I metabolize the grief, rage, and despair resulting from past and current injustices, I turn to tender futurity: in this violent world, how can we—queers and accomplices—still cultivate pleasure and love? / Master of Fine Arts / A King Dyed Pink is Doomed to Die is a poetry collection that reckons with violence waged against queer people. How do even the most seemingly innocuous hetero habits perpetuate cruelty, whether it be big or small? At once horny and rageful, silly and elegiac, these poems draw from theater, journalism, surrealism, visuality, modern technology, and other modes to disrupt a culture of binaries and tidy categorizations. The specter of death haunts this book as much the tragedy of two actual ones: a pigeon fatally dyed pink for a gender reveal party and a queer brutally murdered in Blacksburg, Virginia, months before I moved there. 13	Arbetsgivares skydd mot arbetstagares utnyttjande av företagshemligheter från tidigare anställning / Employers' protection against employees' exploit of trade secrets from previous employment Sanderson, Ellinor January 2014 (has links) I ett kunskapsföretag besitter anställda kunskap om företagets hemligheter genom sin anställning. Denna kunskap utgör en väsentlig tillgång i företaget och stärker företagets konkurrensförmåga på marknaden, vilket ökar behovet av ett starkt skydd för företagshemligheter. Problematiken uppstår när anställda lämnar sin anställning och tar med sig den hemliga informationen till sin nya arbetsgivare och utnyttjar den där. När anställda konkurrerar med sin tidigare arbetsgivare får den arbetsrättsliga lojalitetsplikten väsentlig betydelse. Utgångspunkten är att anställda inte är bundna av lojalitetsplikten när anställningen upphör, vilket innebär att anställda är fria att utnyttja kunskap, erfarenhet och skicklighet som förvärvats under anställningen. Detta innebär att anställda inte kan ställas till ansvar efter anställningens upphörande, förutom i vissa fall då det enligt lagen (1990:409) om skydd för företagshemligheter (FHL) föreligger ”synnerliga skäl”. Avtal mellan parterna kan därför få en avgörande betydelse för arbetsgivares skydd. En godtroende ny arbetsgivare kan själv bli skadeståndsansvarig om en nyanställd, i sin nya anställning, missbrukar tidigare arbetsgivares företagshemligheter. Frågan som uppsatsen behandlar är huruvida den nya arbetsgivaren kan skydda sig mot detta. Slutsatsen är att FHL:s sanktionssystem och den arbetsrättsliga lojalitetsplikten är en ny arbetsgivares främsta skydd. Risken för en ny arbetsgivare att drabbas av skadestånd enligt FHL är överhängande när en anställd missbrukat tidigare arbetsgivares företagshemligheter i den nya verksamheten. I förebyggande syfte kan en ny arbetsgivare vidta åtgärder, t.ex. klargöra för anställda om sanktionssystemets innebörd och om arbetsgivarens egen inställning. Med anledning av KOM(2013) 813 och lagrådsremissen den 12 december 2013 kan en ny arbetsgivares skydd komma att förstärkas. / In a knowledge based company employees possess knowledge of the company’s secrets through their employment. This knowledge constitutes an essential asset of the company and strengthens its competitive position on the market, which increases the need for strong protection of trade secrets. The problem arises when employees terminate their employment and bring trade secrets to their new employer and exploit it there. When employees compete with their previous employer, the labour law duty of loyalty is essential. The starting point is that employees are not bound by the duty of loyalty when the employment is terminated, which implies that employees are free to utilize the knowledge, experience and skills acquired during their employment. This means that employees can not be held liable under the Act on the Protection of Trade Secrets (“the Act”) after the termination of the employment, except from “extraordinary reasons”. Contracts may therefore be vital for employers’ protection. A new employer in good faith can be held liable for damages if the new employee during the new employment abuses the previous employer’s trade secrets. The question that this thesis addresses is whether the new employer can protect himself/herself against this. The conclusion is that the Act’s system of sanctions and the labour law duty of loyalty is a new employer’s primary protection. The risk for a new employer to suffer damages under the Act is imminent when an employee has abused previous employer’s trade secrets in the new business. The new employer can take measures for preventive purposes, for example to clarify to employees the meaning of the system of sanctions and the employer’s own position. COM(2013) 813 and the proposal for new legislation referred to the Swedish Council on Legislation (December 12, 2013) may enhance a new employer’s protection. 14	A strategic enquiry into the holistic nature of corporate identity to enable its systematic control Miggou, Olga January 2012 (has links) This is an unconventional study, which addresses the thematic field and the esoteric nature and essence of Corporate Identity. The thesis concentrates in the understanding of Corporate Identity aiming towards an holistic explanation of the concept appropriate for practical multidisciplinary use. It proposes a systematic methodology and establishes a design practitioner perspective, which aims at reliable co-ordination and control of Corporate Identity operations. The methodology to structure the literature A Strategic methodology of questions was developed to operate as a research methodology, which explored Corporate Identity, by revealing the “Form” of its concepts, its connections and its anomalies, as they occur extensively in the published and public domain. The review of published literature was carried out through a discussion process of published material subjected to diagnostic questions; through which the Terminology, Functional concepts, Methodologies are reported to influence Corporate Identity; contributing to the understanding of Corporate Identity’s Form and to further clarifying research issues. Literature review, was subjected to discussion, provisional observations and conclusions and is presented into 8 chapters. The Strategic Enquiry continued and extended on discussing Corporate Identity Field Examples, to interrogate real life experience material, to reveal an extended understanding of overt and covert issues of Corporate Identity’s Form, and to focus research planning accordingly. This process contributed into bringing together clusters of relevant information, gleaned from a rather fragmented published literature, thus forming a more holistic and broader understanding of the concept. However, from this holistic picture it was observed that certain essential texts are missing. Hence a further information literature search, was carried out which reported on texts which are not sufficiently or at all covered in specialised Corporate Identity literature but were regognised by this researcher as essential for a meaningful development of this thesis. The most important information brought into the context of Corporate Identity, at this stage, was a well established tool applicable to complex design projects, which was considered to be useful towards a more effective and holistic Corporate Identity control. The Field work This systematic approach and treatment of the published material contributed to an holistic understanding of the nature, scope, importance, complexity and topicality, of the subject; and lead to a diagnostic understanding of important problems that continually challenge the field. This was achieved through the research design of the thesis, which incorporated the inferences and observations of the Strategic Enquiry and the tried and tested systems design model for the organisation of complex design projects was used as a reference datum to inform the compilation of the questions of a semistructured interview. The Field study explored how Corporate Identity processes were holistically carried out in a Big UK financial institution specifically looking for practice discontinuities and deviations in the procedures. A diagnostic tool appropriate to investigate Corporate Identity operations was created as a result. The interview material was also subjected to content analysis to explore whether the thesis’ inferences and deductions could d also be grounded in practice. The thesis was then evaluated by relating the thesis material, to the thesis objectives, highlighting the outcomes and limitations employing SWOT analysis. As an epilogue to this thesis, within resources available this study appears to have contributed a substantial insight to the Form and operations of Corporate Identity. It also identified the opportunity for more valuable research, to be carried out. 381
15	Synthesis and modification of abiotic sequence-defined poly(phosphodiester)s / Synthèse et modification de poly(phosphodiester)s non-biologiques contenant des séquences codées de monomères König, Niklas Felix 03 September 2018 (has links) Récemment, la chimie des phosphoramidites s’est montrée efficace et polyvalente en tant que plateforme pour accéder à des poly(phosphodiester)s à séquence définies abiotiques. Grâce à cette stratégie, les monomères peuvent être placés dans la chaîne à des positions choisies, ouvrant la voie à de nombreuses possibilités pour la préparation de macromolécules fonctionnelles. Ici, la méthode phosphoramidite a été explorée pour la synthèse de polymères dits numériques, qui contiennent des séquences de monomères encodées binairement. Des polymères dont les longueurs de chaînes et les séquences numériques sont contrôlées ont été préparés en utilisant une stratégie phosphoramidite classique impliquant des groupements protecteurs diméthoxytrityles, ou bien un procédé photocontrôlé faisant intervenir des groupements nitrophénylpropyloxycarbonyles clivables à la lumière. En outre, plusieurs stratégies pour modifier l’information contenue dans les chaînes latérales ont été étudiées dans cette thèse. Ces fonctions ont permis la conception d’oligo(phosphodiester)s numériques dont les séquences d’information peuvent être effacées ou révélées grâce à la lumière. / Phosphoramidite chemistry has recently been evidenced to be an efficient and versatile platform to access sequence-defined abiotic poly(phosphodiester)s. Using this strategy, monomers can be placed at defined positions positions in a chain, thus opening up wide possibilities for the preparation of functional macromolecules.Here, the phosphoramidite platform was explored to synthesize so-called digital polymers, which contain monomer-coded binary sequences. Polymers with controlled chain lengths and digital sequences were prepared using either a standard phosphoramidite strategy involving dimethoxytrityl protective groups or a photo-controlled process involving light-cleavable nitrophenylpropyloxycarbonyl protective groups. Additionally, several strategies to modify the side chain information were investigated in this thesis. A binary post-polymerization modification by means of sequential copper(I)-catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloadditions was investigated for tuning the side chain functionality of sequence-defined poly(phosphodiester)s. Moreover, the photo-controlled release of several ortho-nitrobenzylic ether side chain motifs was studied. These moieties allowed the design of digital oligo(phosphodiester)s whose sequence information can be erased or revealed with light as a trigger. 16	The Secret Writer Chaffe, Tomas January 2013 (has links) This essay reflects a particular method and way of working that I employ when undertaking artistic research. My artworks are rooted and develop from the situation I find myself in as an artist, the very context I exhibit the work within. I do this by trying to understand this position, both on the micro and macro scale. As an artist currently studying at—and subsequently exhibiting in relation to— Konstfack, I base my research with the physical manifestation of the school. An imposing building that was part of a huge headquarters and factory site for the telecommunication company, Ericsson, in south Stockholm. The title of my essay is from the translation of a unique German cipher machine, the Geheimschreiber, made known to me through enquiry into this site. Throughout the Second World War the German army used this machine to send highly encrypted military messages across Swedish telephone cables. Following one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of cryptography, a Swedish mathematician broke this German code and subsequently assisted in designing a deciphering machine on behalf of the Swedish Intelligence branch. This device, known as the App, was secretly developed and manufactured by Ericsson, possibly where I now study. In exploring the theme of secrets, this essay originates from an underpinning desire and subject of my work to reveal what is concealed or overlooked. Through researching and writing this essay I attempt to have a better understanding on the notion of secrets, in both the private and public realms. Introducing the artistic process and situation I am working from, I explore the central role that secrets play within society. 17	A promise kept: the mystical reach through loss Collins, Jody 04 October 2019 (has links) The meaning of loss is love. I know this through attention to experience. Whether loss or love is experienced in abundance or in absence, the meaning is mystical with an opening of body, mind, heart and soul to spirit. And so, in the style of a memoir, in the way of contemplative prayer, I contemplate and share my soul as a promise kept in the mystical reach through loss. With the first, initiating loss, the loss of my nine-year-old nephew, Caleb, I experience an epiphany that gives me spiritual instructions that will not be ignored. I experience loss as an abundance of meaning that comes to me as gnosis, as “knowledge of the heart” according to Elaine Pagels or divine revelation in what Evelyn Underhill calls mystical illumination in the experience of “losing-to-find” in union with the divine. Then, with gnostic import, in leaving the ordinary for the extraordinary, I enter the empty room in the painful yet liberating experience of the loss of my self. In the embrace of emptiness, I proceed to the first wall, the second wall, the third wall, the dark corner of denial, the return to centre, and, finally, to breaking the fourth wall in the empty room so as to keep my promise to you. Who are “you”? You are God. You are Caleb. You are spirit. You are my higher soul or self. And, you are the reader. You are my dear companion in silence. And then, through a series of broken promises and more loss, within what John of the Cross calls, “the dark night of the soul,” I am stopped by the ineffability of the dark corner of denial, the horror of separation and the absence of meaning, which is depicted as the grueling gap between the spiritual abyss and the breakthrough. What does it mean to keep going through a solemn succession of losses? I don’t know. In going into the empty room, I simply put pain to work in order to reach you. Through loss, though there are infinite manifestations, there is only one way: keep going. And so, in a triumph of the spirit, I keep going so as to be: a promise kept in the mystical reach through loss. As for you, through my illumined and dark experiences of loss, what is my promise to you? I keep going to reach the unreachable you.
