HLAVÁČOVÁ, Barbora January 2015 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of physical activity of older school-age childen. The work is divided into theoretical and research part. The theoretical part is devoted to child obesity and feature an older school-age period in terms of psychological, physical as well as locomotor development. The research part addresses the processing of questionnaires and subsequent comparison of physical activity in older school-age children in selected primary schools. The aim of public opinion survey is to compare physical activity and their relationship to them among girls and boys at rural and urban schools. It was found that 80% of children are involved in some sports activity in their free time. The boys are engaged in physical activities more than girls and also enjoy it more than them. Most children attend after-school sports club more than sports activities offered at school. Another finding was that children spend every day at the computer the same amount of time regardless whether they are from the city or village. An interesting finding was that BMI calculation shown that large number of children falls within the boundaries of underweight, its 26%. Normal weight is 62.9% of children and overweight is 10%. Only 2.5% of children are obese.

Nobile, Marcia Finimundi January 2012 (has links)
Within each one there is a "clock" that regulates the internal dailycycles of eating, sleeping, waking, and even humor. So it happens: when we feel hungry we eat and when we feel sleepy we sleep. The daily activities, the setting of a time, affects each person differently, whether at work or school, and to some person these determinations is"perfect" to their preferences, and others determinations requires ahuge effort, and often, this adaptation is impossible. Thus, there are times of day that each student is more willing to do certain tasks, such as homework and others. In this context, we identified groups ofstudents by the allocation of the sleep / wake cycle, by studying their characteristics and their relationships with the teaching and learning process and validating the scale Morning / Evening, which resulted inthe first article of this thesis. With the validated scale, the main objective of this thesis is to associate groups of students from both chronotype (morning/afternoon) with school hours and school performance, at first with students from a public high school and later with students from five public schools in elementary school, in thecity of Farroupilha- RS. Noting that the results of the elementary school and high school were not the same, we analyzed the influence of the age of students: from 11 to 17 years. Related variables were: age, chronotype (morning / afternoon), school hours, school performance andfailure rate. The results showed that morning of elementary school students (from 11 to 14 years old) had a significantly higheracademic achievement to other groups of students on the morning shiftand a lower failure rate. In high school (15 to 17 years old), the morning group studying in the afternoon showed significantly higher yield than the other students. With this information, the schools, parents and the Departments of Education might rethink the best school hours to attend school and get better returns. Even the case report presented here suggest a circadian rhythm interference with school performance studies with a larger with sample is needed to indicate it as public politics to be adopted to avoid the negative effect of the sleep / wake cycle on individual school performance.

Pohled žáků prvních ročníků základních škol na školu / First class primary school children's perspective of school

Freimannová, Sára January 2018 (has links)
One of the important milestones in the development of a child is the transition into primary school. Unaddressed issues at the beginning of attendance can have negative impact on the later life of the individual. In the process of adaptation the child's preconditions are met with the external factors. There exists a body of research in this area, however only a fraction was based on the testimony of children themselves. The aim of this thesis is thus to map which aspects of the adaptation to school education can be grasped and described by children themselves. This thesis sums up what we know about the developmental stage of a first grader. The knowledge of prerequisites for reflecting one's own experience and its hindrances is essential. The following chapters focus on the external factors that influence the child during his or her transition into primary school. The research part focuses on how first graders perceive school and everything connected with it; its supportive and challenging aspects. The method used to collect data is a group associative verbal expression and drawing based on given questions. The children perceived as supportive mainly activities connected with play and movement. As challenging they perceived interactions with their peers, demands on discipline and pressure towards...

The literate lexicon in narrative and expository writing: A developmental study of children and adolescents

Sun, Lei 09 1900 (has links)
xiv, 149 p. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / Three types of literate words, including abstract nouns (freedom, challenge), mental state verbs (assume, explain), and derivatives (relationship, respectful), were examined in narrative and expository writing in typically developing children and adolescents. It was predicted that older students would use literate words more frequently than younger students, and that literate words would occur more frequently in expository writing than in narrative writing. One hundred and twenty typically developing children and adolescents including forty 5th graders, forty 8th graders, and forty 11th graders wrote one narrative and one expository essay at school. The results showed that genre had a substantial impact on the use of literate words in the writing of school-age children and adolescents. except metalinguistic verbs. Moreover, literate words were used significantly more often in expository than in narrative text, except derived adjectives. Additionally, metalinguistic verbs occurred more often in narrative writing than expository writing; however, the difference was not statistically significant. Age-related increases occurred in the use of abstract nouns, derived nominals, early/late developing metacognitive verbs and late developing metalinguistic verbs in narrative writing. Age-related increases also occurred in the use of derived adjectives, and late developing metacognitive and metalinguistic verbs in expository writing. The present study adds to the knowledge base concerning the development of literate word use in narrative and expository writing in typically developing children and adolescents. / Adviser: Marilyn Nippold

Vybrané somatické znaky a motorická výkonnost dívek ve věku 7 a 10 let / Selected somatic characteristics and motor performance of girls aged 7 and 10 years

NOVOTNÁ, Petra January 2013 (has links)
This work is focused on monitoring changes in selected somatic characteristics and motor performance of girls aged 7 and 10 years. The research was also focused on diet and lifestyle of the girls and their parents. The research was conducted at five different primary schools (Tábor, Soběslav, České Budějovice, Tvrdonice). Twenty six somatic dimensions, two functional tests and five motor tests for motor development were measured. There are also presented results of a questionnaire of children and their parents. Some body measurement was used for the calculation of body composition (the weight of the skeleton, the weight of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, the weight of the muscle mass and weight of the rest of the body) and the somatotype. The data were recorded in the pre-record sheets and then they were statistically evaluated and processed into tables and graphs. The obtained results were compared with the previous surveys.
