protagonismo desses sujeitos transformou a realidade regional. O Sul do Maranhão apresenta,
This work investigates the fights over land ownership in the state of Maranhão, specifically in
the southern part of the state, in the city of Estreito. It was fought by migrant rural workers
from many parts of the state who occupied the area of Fazenda Serafim, which resulted on the
creation of the encampment/settlement Serafim in the decade of 1980, resulting from the
paths of itinerancy, motivated by the goal to achieve better conditions of life. Our objective is
to understand through memories and experiences of the workers, the extent of the fights they
fought, how they assign meanings to their actions in this historical process of the rural fights
and in which way their actions transformed the reality of the region. The south of Maranhão
presents very defined aspects in terms of geography, with the predominance of plateaus,
which has the vegetation of cerrado. There are also rivers which are used as limits for states
and cities, with strong connection to the rural space. Understanding the practices that involve
social groups that fight for land ownership in the south of the state is to go through a winding
road with many footprints and obstacles. It is to tread a path of a past full of fragments. The
conflicts which occurred in this space were a result of disputes for the appropriation of
wastelands, permeated not only by physical violence, but also by symbolical violence. The
individuals who constituted the encampment/settlement Serafim are strongly linked to the
rural space, because they lived, worked or because they had as the base of the family the
origins and the identity with the land. The generations there present are reelaborating their
ways of life, their practices, perspectives, but above all constructing representations which are
resulting from experience and the belonging to the place. These, live in the rural space,
reelaborating significations through the way how they built the place, favouring ways of life
and work.

The book Serafim Ponte Grande, written by Oswald de Andrade in the late 1920s and published in 1933, presents the \'low\' and \'high\' of Brazilian culture. Humor, sexuality and literature appear as important elements and exacerbated by technique, there are types and expressions both colloquial and erudite downplayed by the treatment that the author gives to the themes presented. Considering these factors, this research aims at Serafim Ponte Grande (1933) seeking to illuminate the relationship between the literary technique and the material formalized by it.

In this work we analyze the critical thought of the Brazilian philologist Serafim da Silva Neto, on the Portuguese of Brazil. For Serafim, the language was a spiritual manifestation of the man who closely was tied with the culture and the civilization. Our objective is to examine, in the speech of the philologist, the relation between these concepts and to explain them it the light of history, of the context where it was inserted. For in such a way, the corpus is composed in two workmanships of the author: Introdução aos Estudos da Língua Portuguesa no Brasil, of 1950 and Língua, Cultura e Civilização, of 1960. The analysis is preceded of the contextualization of the time where Silva Neto acted, so that, thus, the theoretical bases could be established on which its critical thought is based. Theoretically, the work is tied with the picture of the Linguistic Historiography, since it aims at to describe and to analyze as the author developed its critical thought concerning the Portuguese of Brazil. In this direction, it was followed proposal theoretical-methodological of Auroux (2006), for whom; to be a historian of science is to be able to build causal links.

SERAFIM DA SILVA NETO: ENTRE A CONSTITUIÇÃO E A CIRCULAÇÃO DO CONHECIMENTO LINGUÍSTICO / SERAFIM DA SILVA NETO: BETWEEN THE CONSTITUTION AND THE CIRCULATION OF LINGUISTIC KNOWLEDGESchneiders, Caroline Mallmann 28 April 2014 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this dissertation, we analyze how the memory domain of Linguistics is resumed
and articulated in the discursive constitution, emphasizing the echoes and the
signification soundings of the already said registered in the line of discourse. We aim
to understand the way how the discursive process is historically determined, besides
the way how certain notions of Linguistics, present in the Cours de linguistique
générale, are repeated and/or modified as they are resumed in another sociohistorical
and ideological conjuncture. From this, we aim the crossing of linguistic
knowledge which belong to other conjunctures and return chaining in the discursive
formulation as an effect of interdiscourse on itself, that is, by the functioning of the
transverse-discourse. For this, we delimitated as temporal snip, the fifties, from XX
century, once it was a fruitful moment in studies related to the Portuguese language
and in linguistic researches which begin in the academic environment and we
mobilized as file search some works by Serafim da Silva Neto: Introdução ao
Estudo da Língua Portuguêsa no Brasil (1950); Manual de Filologia Portuguêsa
(1952); Introdução ao Estudo da Filologia Portuguêsa (1956); História do Latim
Vulgar (1957); Língua, Cultura e Civilização (1960). The corpus of analysis is
composed by discursive passages from these works, whose choice criterion was the
reference to two essential Saussure s dichotomies: language vs. speech and
synchrony vs. diachronic. The mobilized analytical procedure is constituted by the
moving among quote, the discursive paraphrase and the transverse-discourse. We
begin from Course s quote which allows us to analyze the discursive paraphrase s
functioning, that, on the other hand, enables the effect instauration of the transversediscourse
in the discursive constitution, since, through the discursive paraphrase; we
demonstrate the crossing and the articulation of other knowledge in the discourse
horizontality by the repetition/reformulation and/or the signification soundings. This
proposed analytical motion gives the basis to our thesis, giving light to the functioning
of the transverse-discourse, which concern us, in a particular way, by allowing the
reflection about the historical and sense filiations inscribed in the production of
linguistic knowledge that we analyzed. Our research is affiliated to the History of
Linguistic Ideas linked to the theoretical and methodological apparatus of Discourse
Analysis of Pecheuxtian orientation, as both are being carried out in Brazil, in the last
times.
Filologia Portuguêsa (1956); História do Latim Vulgar (1957); Língua, Cultura e
do postulado saussuriano: língua vs. fala e sincronia vs. diacronia. O procedimento

The aim of this study is to demonstrate that in his whole work, Serafim da Silva Neto presents data for the configuration of a theory of linguistic variation and change, between the years 40 and 50 of the 20th century, therefore 20 years before, and independently of the modern studies called Sociolinguistics, autonomous subject in which we investigate the relations between language and society. Our thesis is that Serafim da Silva Neto has developed, in his work, concepts related to linguistic variation and change, having as reference the three areas of research which he was connected to: Romance Philology; Textual Criticism (edition of Portuguese medieval texts) and the knowledge of Old Grammars such as Latin and Portuguese. In this sense, this work is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, we deal with adopted theoretical and methodological issues. From second to fifth chapters, we organize this work in order to inform about these three areas of the philologist action, with the aforementioned authors who contributed to the construction of variations concepts in his works studied in a way as to provide knowledge about these three areas of interest of the philologist from Rio de Janeiro. Thus, we have tried to exploit, as far as possible, the retrospective horizons of this author so that, in the light of history, be able to explain how he built his concepts about linguistic variation and change. The fifth chapter presents the approach between Silva Neto, Hugo Schuchardt (1842-1927), linguist and German Romanist, active in the late 19th century and early 20th century, noticeably present in his retrospective horizons, and William Labov (born in 1927), main name of the Theory of Language Variation and organizer of Sociolinguistics as a Linguistic discipline, to demonstrate that the proximity of some theoretical concepts presented in his works is no accident. Although temporally and spatially separated, and affiliated to different theoretical and methodological currents, the work of these authors contributes to the construction of knowledge about the language variation and change, albeit in a non-linear and unsystematic way, achieving significant results for the development of research in the sciences of language in different fields. We sought, therefore, to establish a possible causal link between the critical thinking of the three authors, joined by a complex network of references, including around Uriel Weinreich (1926-1967), in whose work it could find a possible explanation for the connection between the authors highlighted, although it is not the only one elucidation. Throughout this study, we have, therefore, done research about Latin-Portuguese Grammaticography, Textual Criticism, Romance Philology and Contemporary Sociolinguistics, in such a way as to shed light upon the whole of this complex issue and, consequently, raising data to prove our thesis. In this work, we discuss some linguistic and grammatical concepts, analyzed from the perspective of the temporal dimension, that is, in the long duration of time, which places it in the context of the History of Linguistic Ideas, following the model of Sylvain Auroux (1992, 1998, 2006, 2008); Colombat (2007) and Colombat, Fournier and Puech (2010).

Salvador
