Detta examensarbete inriktar sig mot de yngre barnen i förskolan. Studien belyser hur förskollärare tänker när de väljer böcker, hur de använder böcker som pedagogiskt verktyg samt hur lästillfällen kan se ut i förskolan. En kvalitativ studie har utförts där semistrukturerade intervjuer av fyra förskollärare tillämpats. Därigenom har förskollärarnas syn på högläsning i förskolan lyfts fram. Resultatet visar bland annat att alla förskollärarna väljer böcker utifrån vilka budskap de vill förmedla. Däremot visas ett motsägelsefullt resultat angående boksamtalets befintlighet i den pedagogiska verksamheten.

Studies have shown that early literacy is important for both language development and literacy later in life. One of the missions for public libraries in Sweden is to promote language and literacy amongst children, something they often do in collaboration with other professions who also work close to these children.  The aim of this study is to explore the collaboration between two library departments and a speech therapists’ clinic.  With a theoretical framework of theory of professions and collaboration theory, semi structured interviews with four respondents, three librarians and one speech therapist, and a document analysis of the organizations governing documents was conducted. A qualitative content analysis was then used to analyze the material, with the research questions and theoretical framework in mind. The study showed that the collaboration between the professions and their departments was longstanding and is active on several levels today. Thanks to a supportive management and anchoring in governing documents, the collaboration is given room in the daily work. All respondents expressed themselves positively about the collaboration and the possibility of learning from each other and work together to reach a goal they cannot reach on their own. They are aware of what the difficulties with their collaboration are and have learned to compromise and work around it.

The purpose of my research is to investigate how preschool teachers think about how the ability to distinguish language sounds affects children's language development and how preschool teachers work on teaching children to distinguish different sounds. I used qualitative interviews and analyzed with interpretative phenomenological analysis. The result I got was that preschool teachers work consciously to distinguish sounds and that they see the importance of children's ability to discern language sounds has an effect on language development. The conclusions I came up with are that preschool teachers actively try to keep the volume down and that they are aware that the concentration is affected by external auditory stimuli. / Syftet med min undersökning var att undersöka hur förskollärare tänker om hur förmågan att urskilja språkljud påverkar barnens språkutveckling och även hur förskollärarna jobbar med att lära barnen urskilja olika ljud. Jag använde mig av kvalitativa intervjuer och analyserade med interpretativ fenomenologisk analys (IPA). Resultatet jag fick var att förskollärarna arbetar medvetet att urskilja ljud och även att de ser vikten av barnens förmåga att urskilja språkljud har en påverkan på språkutvecklingen. Slutsatserna jag kom fram till är att förskollärarna aktivt försöker hålla nere ljudvolymen och att de är medvetna om att koncentrationen påverkas av yttre auditiva stimuli.
