This thesis is an investigation into the makings of a successful youth baseball facility. Youth sports is a multi-billion dollar industry in the United States, and much of the competition follows a tournament, or "travel league" format. This is especially true in youth baseball. Despite this growing trend towards travel play, facilities that host these tournaments were designed and constructed in an age where the primary format was not tournament play, but rather a recreational structure where single games were played individually. These facilities do not meet the needs of the typical park user: players and their families. The parts of the following investigation are the Author's research, including a literature review and four case studies of facilities that are representational of a larger sample. This is followed by the identification of a list of universial challenges faced by many facilities which led to a development of a list of design criteria to correct the issue of under-performing parks, identification of a fundamental design question, and specific goals and objectives. Finally, identification of a site to be studied is introduced and analyzed, and the development of the Author's concept for a new design is reported and then analyzed. The Master Plan is then presented and discussed in detail. The master plan for the new Rockville School Park has been developed based on the list of design criteria developed by the Author, based largely on field research. A large effort was made to identify literature directly regarding the questions presented in this thesis. The aim of this dissertation is to provide Marabastad with a multi-sport centre with alternating levels of use and activity. Through kinetic architecture the structure adapts to Marabastad’s shifting nature. The centre serves schools within the Pretoria CBD, sport clubs and members of the public, constantly reshaping to cater for different needs. The centre is equipped with the necessary facilities to host practise sessions for teams taking part in the 2010 Soccer World Cup with ample space for fans and sport enthusiasts. This feeds off the established transport infrastructure that defines Marabastad. Inhabiting lost space within the urban fabric creates a site or destination for Marabastad dwellers to either partake in or watch the ongoing events, drawing the vibrant diversity of Boom Street towards the existing under utilised zone in the south, reinforcing the crumbling community structure. The building itself becomes a display case for sport, simultaneously creating awareness and intrigue. El Complejo Cultural y Deportivo Watukanakuy es un proyecto ubicado en el distrito de San Jerónimo, provincia de Andahuaylas departamento de Apurímac; situado en el centro de actividades del distrito. Se trata de un equipamiento que combina las actividades deportivas, culturales, educativas y recreativas satisfaciendo así la demanda creciente de la población, dotando a la comunidad de espacios adecuados para desarrollar dichas actividades. Estando este proyecto enfocado en la revaloración de las tradiciones y costumbres. La denominación watukanakuy es un vocablo quechua que significa encuentro entre personas, y para esta investigación representara la unión de los pobladores en el carnaval y demás actividades culturales y en la alegría que representa el deporte. / The Cultural and Sports Complex Watukanakuy is a project located in the district of San Jerónimo, province of Andahuaylas, department of Apurímac; located in the center of activities of the district. It’s a facility that combines sports, cultural, educative and recreational activities, this way satisfying the growing demand of the population, by giving to the community suitable spaces for these activities. This project is focused in the appreciation of traditions and customs. The designation “watukanakuy” is a Quechua word that means encounter between people, and for this investigation it represents the union of the community in the carnival, cultural activities and in the joy that sports represent. / Tesis

This project explores the issue of revealing the structural integrity of a building through the design of a recreational sports facility. The designated site for this sports facility is the River's Edge Sports Complex located in Roanoke, Virginia. A unique setting because the Roanoke River nearly cuts through the center of this site dividing the northern half with the existing football stadium, Victory Stadium, the National Guard Reserve Armory, and Maher Baseball Field from the southern portion containing athletic fields, tennis courts, and a playground. In order to consolidate the facilities into one sports complex, I propose a number of interventions including a bridge building, observation tower, coliseum, natatorium, racquetball courts, and exercise rooms. The goal of providing a smooth unifying path over the river, while creating a unique setting, presents an intriguing architectural challenge. The investigation focuses on the appropriate architectural expressions and structural possibilities of the long spanning bridge building since it is the central unifying element of the sports complex. / Master of Architecture

O questionamento teórico que se coloca, face à situação do Curso de Formação de Professores de Educação Física da UFBA, diz respeito às possibilidades de organização do espaço objetivando, através do trabalho pedagógico, superar contradições e construir uma internalização de novos valores e conseqüentemente, uma outra construção de subjetividade humana. A hipótese é de que os espaços pedagógicos na sociedade estão diminuindo, não cumprem sua finalidade educativa, na perspectiva de uma formação humana omnilateral e, na área da cultura corporal, quando existem, sua infra-estrutura é unilateral e relacionada com práticas esportivas competitivas, individualistas. Isso está determinado, em geral, pelos interesses de lucro que levam à privatização dos espaços públicos, pelo projeto político pedagógico institucional e pela correlação de forças estabelecidas que defendem projetos antagônicos expressos no trabalho pedagógico. Contraditoriamente, existem possibilidades concretas, na luta dos contrários, de superação das condições objetivas que atualmente predominam no CEFE/UFBA. Para tanto, fazem-se necessários estudos aprofundados, o projeto político pedagógico da instituição, o intercâmbio acadêmico, a determinação política e o trabalho pedagógico coletivo, intenso, integrados com a comunidade e as escolas públicas do sistema de ensino e voltados para a construção da cultura corporal, na perspectiva de um projeto histórico para além do capital. O percurso teórico metodológico implicou uma definição de conceitos e categorias como realidade, contradições e possibilidades, e sobre formação humana, práticas pedagógicas e cultura corporal. This final thesis was created with the aim to search the author's business plan, to explore its feasibility, reality and viability. Main goal of this thesis shoul bet he complex evaluation of the overall business plan. In the first part we can find a theoretical basis of thesis, there are key words and con-cepts and their thorough clarification. Complete and complex theory of business plan is not fully explained in this thesis, there are only parts, which are necessary as a relevant basis for this particular thesis are mentioned. The second part is based on the processing of the business plan itselves, it's detailed elaboration, analysis of individual parts, the processing of the results and findings of these revenues and, finally, clear and comprehensive business plan on the chosen topic. The conclusion provides an overall assessment of the project, evaluation of feasibility and reality and there is also the author's opinion on the entire project and its other options or possible opportunities.

The theme of the thesis is to evaluate two sports arenas. The aim of the work is to determine or estimate the costs associated with the operation of specific objects, analyze the possible revenues and specify aspects affecting the profitability of sports facilities. Evaluation of objects is done according to the current valuation rules. For the evaluation of specific objects was necessary to obtain the supporting documents relevant to the economic and technical documentation. The obtained data shows, that both sports complexes underwent the major renovation which contributed to the improvement of the economic situation and the overall improvement of the stabilization of sports facilities standard. The above mentioned objects are owned and managed by the city of Vyškov. An integral part of the work is a systematic summary of the collected and calculated data, on the basis of which it was proposed optimal solutions to economic profitability of both objects which significantly affect their price. An important aspect for the purpose of this work is the profitability of both sports arenas and criteria which significantly affect the profitability. It was examined what is eligibility of assessment by means of the cost price, time price, revenue rate and reproductive value.

In Yekaterinburg, the infrastructure of sports facilities is underdeveloped. Along with a high proportion of the availability of sports facilities in popular sports, there are not mass sports that require specialized venues. The growth trend of a healthy lifestyle and the popularization of physical culture are promoted at the state level, and the development of sports infrastructure becomes an important aspect for the state. The aim of the work is: Development of a development project for the creation of a sports complex located at: Ekaterinburg, ul. Moskovskaya d.281, intersection of Moskovskaya and Ostrovsky streets, and assessment of the impact of the development project on infrastructure development. The results of the study are • The concepts of development were considered and the types of financing for development projects were analyzed; • Identified priority areas in the development of infrastructure of sports facilities; • A development project for the creation of a sports complex in the city of Yekaterinburg has been developed, taking into account the use of mechanisms of the Public-Private Partnership; • The projected forms of the project’s impact on the development of the district’s infrastructure were analyzed. The paper shows the use of state aid tools for the implementation of social development projects. With such financing, the project payback period is 15 years, the net discounted income is more than 330 thousand rubles. / В городе Екатеринбурге недостаточно развита инфраструктура спортивных объектов. Наряду с высокой долей обеспеченности спортивными объектами в распространённых видах спорта, существуют не массовые виды спорта, требующие специализированных площадок. Рост тренда здорового образа жизни и популяризация занятия физической культурой пропагандируется на государственном уровне, и развитие объектов спортивной инфраструктуры становится важным аспектом для государства. Целью работы является: Разработка девелоперского проекта по созданию спортивного комплекса, расположенного по адресу: г. Екатеринбург ул. Московская д.281, перекресток улиц Московская и Островского, и оценка влияния девелоперского проекта на развитие инфраструктуры. Результатами исследования являются: • Рассмотрены понятия девелопмента и проанализированы виды финансирования девелоперских проектов; • Выявлены приоритетные направления в развитии инфраструктуры спортивных объектов; • Разработан девелоперский проект по созданию спортивного комплекса в городе Екатеринбурге, с учётом использования механизмов Государственно-Частного партнёрства; • Проанализированы прогнозируемые формы влияния проекта на развитие инфраструктуры района. В работе показано использование инструментов помощи государства для реализации девелоперских проектов социальной направленности. При таком финансировании срок окупаемости проекта составляет 15 лет, чистый дисконтированный доход составляет более 330 тыс. руб.

El Complejo Deportivo Cultural no Convencional, está ubicado en la zona industrial del Cercado de Lima, en una zona que se encuentra en proceso de cambio de zonificación (de Industrial a Comercial y Residencial). El proyecto se ubica en este lugar, no solo por un déficit de la tipología en la zona, sino también para brindar un espacio urbano importante para los usuarios de a pie y residentes de la zona. Uno de los aspectos más importantes para desarrollar este proyecto, fue la utilización de la estructura como un elemento de diseño arquitectónico, el cual ayuda a evocar la historia y dejar la huella de la zona industrial que existe, pero dejará de existir, por medio de la materialidad y la forma utilizada. Este proyecto funciona como un filtro urbano dentro de la zona. / The Non-Conventional Cultural Sports Complex is located in the industrial area of Cercado de Lima, in an area that is in the process of changing its zoning (from Industrial to Commercial and Residential). The project is carried out in this place, not only due to a deficit of the typology in the area, but also to provide an important urban space for pedestrians and residents of the area. One of the most important aspects to develop this project was the use of the structure as an architectural design element, which helps to evoke the history and leave the footprint of the industrial zone that exists, but will cease to exist, through the materiality and the form used. Diploma thesis is prepared in the form of project documentation of building work for sports complex. The building is located in Štarnov, is free standing and has two floors. The structural system of the building is a reinforced concrete skeleton in combination with bearing masonry elements from porotherm. The roof will be made as single – layer flat roof and vegetation. The first floor there are changing rooms with social background and warehouse, technical room and cleaning room, fitness with changing rooms, there are reception, warehouses, changing room for employes, social background and bar. In the second floor is used for accommodation, session room and office.
