Im Jahr 2009 berichteten wir in BIS über die elektronische Bereitstellung und Erforschung einer syrischen Handschriftenbibliothek im Rahmen eines DFG-Projekts des Orientalischen Instituts und der UB Leipzig („Die Refaiya aus Damaskus. Eine alte arabische Bibliothek geht in Leipzig online“, In: BIS 2(2009)4. S. 256 –259). Von April bis Juli 2013 wird in der Bibliotheca Albertina die Ausstellung „Refaiya 1853 – eine Bücherreise von Damaskus nach Leipzig“ gezeigt. Sie wird vom Projektteam gemeinsam mit Dr. Anke Scharrahs (Dresden) gestaltet und widmet sich der Geschichte der Bibliothek und ihrem kulturellen Umfeld.

\"Are there any national literatures in black Africa yet? The simple answer is no. [...] If one examines the development of the African language literature that do exists, one is struck by certain recurring tendencies. Many of the books produced, particularly the early works, are of a predominantly moralistic nature. Sometimes they are retelling of folk stories or Bible stories, sometimes imitations of European religious literature, sometimes both.\\\" (Lindfors 1997: 121; 123) Certain anomalies are obvious in the above extract. Swahili written literature with its long-standing tradition, dating far back to the 17th century, has relativly gathered its own aesthetic criteria, values and sensibility, hence \\\'own\\\' integrity and world view. I dare say that Lindfors will be suprised to learn today, how fast the Swahili novel has developed since when he had left it when he read Andrzejewski et al (1985) and Gérard (1981), who (by the way), themselves did not then see the their works as presenting a complete picture of African literatures in African languages. This essay aims at showing the predicament of the Swahili novelist at the crossroads and how, in a contemporary situation, s/he works out his or her strategies towards resolving the impasses.

Le volume est le fruit du colloque international Translatio : Transmédialité et Transculturalité qui a eu lieu au Centre de Recherches Ibéro-Américaines et Francophones de l’Université de Leipzig du 29 juin au 3 juillet 2011, avec l’objectif de promouvoir le dialogue transdisciplinaire et transculturel concernant le nouveau domaine de recherches sur la traduction culturelle, la translatio, et sur les stratégies médiales, comme celles de la "transmédialité", et de soumettre en même temps des théories et des champs de recherche actuels et centraux à un examen scientifique critique. La "transdisciplinarité", la "transmédialité" et la "transculturalité", représentent toute sorte de processus de translation et ont pris une place importante dans le colloque, avec l’intention d’apporter une contribution à la formation de la théorie, ou plutôt de la métathéorie, afin de s’opposer à certaines tendances arbitraires et ludiques de l’interprète dans ce domaine.

Continuant notre réflexion sur la transmédialité et la transculturalité, nous voulons donner quelques exemples issus de la littérature qui soient capables d’illustrer pars pro toto ce que nous avons élaboré dans la première partie, dans L’Éducation sentimentale de Flaubert par exemple, dans les nouvelles de Borges : "L’Aleph" et "Le jardin aux sentiers qui bifurquent", dans l’oeuvre de Frida Kahlo, mais aussi dans d’autres oeuvres qui ne seront pas traitées ici, telles que les romans de Robbe-Grillet Le Voyeur, La jalousie, La Maison des Rendez-vous, Pour une révolution à New York ou d’Italo Calvino, Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore ; dans les travaux des années 90 de Robert Wilson que j’ai appelés "spectacularité", tels que Cosmopolitan greetings, Parzival auf der anderen Seite des Sees ou Black Rider. Mais aussi dans Carlos W. Saénz (1956- ) (2003) d’Alejandro Tantanián ou les "présentations- pseudo-prothèse" de Periférico de Objetos comme Variaciones sobre B... The Kikae dialect is a regional variety of Swahili spoken in the southern part of Unguja, the largest island of the Zanzibar archipelago. In this dialect, the morpheme -wa preceded by a subject prefix, which agrees with the subject in person or noun class, is used as a copula. This form is used in neither Standard Swahili nor the Kiunguja dialect considered prestigious dialects of Swahili. In this paper, I describe the morphological and semantic characteristics of this copula, which have not been observed in previous studies, and propose a possible grammaticalisation path of the copula based on its synchronic properties and typological evidence. The following three claims will be made: 1. the subject prefix -wa morphologically corresponds to the perfect form, but does not encode a prior event unlike the perfect form of other verbs. 2. The use of the subject prefix -wa copula is restricted to ‘predicational sentences’. 3. It is highly probable that the subject prefix -wa has grammaticalized from a locative verb

This collection contains 13 papers presented in the workshop on the "The Celtic Languages in Contact" organised by Hildegard L. C. Tristram at the XIII International Celtic Congress in Bonn (Germany), July 23rd - 27th, 2007. The authors of two papers from another section also contributed their papers to this volume, as they deal with closely related issues. The time-span covered ranges from potential pre-historic contacts of Celtic with Altaic languages or Nostratic cognates in Celtic, through the hypothesis of Afro-Asiatic as a possible substrate for Celtic, Latin and Gaulish contacts in Gaul, the impact of Vulgar Latin on the formation of the Insular Celtic Languages as a linguistic area (Sprachbund), to various contact scenarios involving the modern Insular Celtic languages as well as English and French. The final paper reflects on the political status of the modern Insular Celtic languages in the Europe of the 27 EU countries.
