Submitted by Nadir Basilio (nadirsb@uninove.br) on 2018-07-17T20:38:16Z No. of bitstreams: 1 André Nogueira Ferraz de Carvalho e Silva.pdf: 1053634 bytes, checksum: 032d316a96c55892bc3977f4efa8f29c (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2018-07-17T20:38:16Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 André Nogueira Ferraz de Carvalho e Silva.pdf: 1053634 bytes, checksum: 032d316a96c55892bc3977f4efa8f29c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-12-15 / Background: Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is described as anterior knee pain, aggravated by negotiating stairs, squats, running and prolonged sitting. Proximal changes such as trunk, pelvic drop, hip adduction and medial rotation may cause pain. Recently, new studies have indicated that distal changes influence PFP. Objective: Analyze trunk, lower limbs, rearfoot and forefoot kinematics during the beginning of the movement, 15º, 30º and 45º of knee flexion and their discriminatory capacity between patients with PFP and healthy on the lateral step down. Methods: Thirty-four healthy sedentary women and thirty-four women with PFP were evaluated in three-dimensional kinematics during Lateral Step Down at the beginning of the movement, 15º, 30º and 45º of knee flexion. Analyzes were performed between the groups and the Receiver Operational Characteristic Curves (ROC) were applied to determine the discriminatory capacity between them. Results: Differences were found between the groups being more evident at 30º and 45º of knee flexion in the PFP group in the trunk and lower limbs. Conclusion: The main kinematic changes occur at 30º and 45º of knee flexion. At 30º of knee flexion, the main variables to discriminate women with PFP from the healthy ones are: pelvic drop, hip adduction, rearfoot eversion in relation to the ground and forefoot pronation in relation to the rearfoot, already at 45º, a main variable is the eversion of the rearfoot in relation to the ground.

Strecker, Zbyněk January 2009 (has links)
The main goal of this work is to design an efficient and cheap car-alarm with an electricity consumption not exceeding 1mA in the stand-by mode. The first part focuses on the conception of the car-alarm. As the best option - GPS/GSM car-alarm conception is chosen. Then the design of the switching power supply, communication via RS232 with the GSM module, and GPS module, I2C communication with accelerometer and timer IC, and design of the display module are described. Furthermore, the process of how to code/decode sms into the PDU format is also discussed in this part. The second part provides some basic empirical characteristics of the switching power supply (efficiency, switching frequency etc.). Then the owchart of the main loop is explained, followed by an example of the sms which the car-alarm sends in case a car theft. Explanation of how to set up timer, acceleration threshold and the time between the check of the sms commads is the subject of the next section. Fifth part deals with the installation the car-alarm into a car which is illustrated on the Skoda Favorit example. Total costs and also different cost items are listed just before concluding and suggesting some potential improvements of the device.

Övervakningssystem för vindkraftverk : Monitoring system for wind turbines

Jebur, Mariam January 2016 (has links)
This report describes how a new and modern monitoring system is crea- ted for a wind turbine. Elvira Vind AB is a company that has an old operating surveillance system manufactured in 1992. A need has arisen with the owner of the company and are looking for a simple and smooth system that monitors the situation in a wind turbine. Therefore, a system is created that can transmit data wireless- ly through a GSM-module. The system must be able to sense temperature, vibration and sound levels. Also a camera has to take a picture when it de- tects vibration and display the values of the sensors in a web site. The system must also be powered during a power failure, therefore a voltage regulator and a charging circuit was made in the circuit board. The goal of this project is to create a sensor-based monitoring system for a wind turbine and to see the sensor readings wirelessly and displayed in a web site. The report describes how the electronic circuit board has been created and which methods have been used for each sensor in this project. There is also a description of how to use the system for both software and hardware. / Övervakningssystem för vindkraftverk

Řízený zdroj po CAN / CANbus controlled power converter

Golej, Juraj January 2021 (has links)
This thesis deals with the design and realization of a DC/DC converter, which allows power conversion from 10-52 V input voltage to 10-52 V output voltage at a maximum output current of 3 A. The converter can communicate with the superior system via the CAN. In the first chapter I deal with the available integrated circuits of DC/DC converters, from which I choose one for my application. In the second chapter, I propose a block scheme of the converter, which includes the requirements from the assignment as well as my additional ones. In the third chapter I deal with the design of an electronic circuit and with the calculation of control loops. In the fourth chapter I propose firmware for the STM32 MCU, which controls the device and communicates with the superior system. In the last chapter the DC/DC converter is tested.

Rehabilitate : a sub-acute facility in collaboration with Louis Pasteur private hospital in the Pretoria CBD

Beckenstrater, Andrea Frances 01 December 2010 (has links)
This dissertation investigates the need for a change in popular perception of what an institutional building should and could look and feel like. This is achieved through the exploration of ways to create a therapeutic environment that houses a sub-acute facility which provides operational after care for patients discharged from Louis Pasteur Private Hospital in the Pretoria CBD. As well as providing for certain functional requirements, the architectural exploration aims to enrich and encourage the healing process of patients within the city with a rich mixture of stimulating and therapeutic experiences and qualities. Through the exploration and incorporation of various theories, these aims are set as an end goal not only throughout the design process, but are also used to guide the technical development and solutions that are used within the finalization of the facility. With a constant concept of creating a space for healing within the city of Pretoria, a Centre for Healing is created which holds these ideals at the core of its existence. / Dissertation (MArch(Prof))--University of Pretoria, 2010. / Architecture / unrestricted

FPGA Software Development for Control Purposes of High-Frequency Switching Power Converters

Anton, Gagner, Hebib, Nino January 2016 (has links)
FPGA stands for Field Programmable Gate Array and it is a technology that has been on the rise the last decades. With a decrease in size of the logic elements commercially available products have started to have more built-in functionality in one package and by being reprogrammable makes the system a powerful competitor among its neighbors. FPGA technology in comparison with Digital Signal Processing technology is generally interesting because of the parallelism of the programming that can be made. This allows for more operations in less time. In this thesis a system is developed to control power converters with control signals in high frequency. A previous project is used as a base and a toolchain of new components are implemented to create a new, more generic system. The previous system is evaluated and a new protocol for communication is developed. The toolchain with the necessary control blocks is implemented in Quartus II that includes a timer block, a pulse width modulation block, a PID controller block and a FIR-filter block. The system is used to control a power converter and the result is evaluated.

Srovnání hodnocení vybraných funkčních testů fyzioterapeuty a systémem OpenPose / Comparison of the evaluation of selected functional tests by physiotherapists and the OpenPose system

Turna, Matyáš January 2022 (has links)
1 ABSTRACT Title: Comparing physiotherapist's functional test assessments with OpenPose kinematic data Objectives: Assess wether is OpenPose (OP) system able to detect parameters of poor performance in the Single Leg Squat Test and Step Down Test. Presence of these parameters was indicated by consensus process among 3 physiotherapists. Methods: 48 healthy volunteers participated on the research. Each volunteer demonstrated 3 repetitions of Single Leg Squat Test and Step Down Test on each leg. Repetitions were recorded on video and at the same time evaluated by 3 physiotherapists (PT) using 15 binary parameters. Consensus process indicating presence of a parameter involved agreement of at least 2 of the raters while the inter-rater reliability coeficient for all 3 raters had to be κ ≥ 0,41. Changes in angles and relative distances of observed body segments were calculated using OpenPose keypoint detection model. Therefore each execution of the functional test was described by OP data and PT data. Statistical analysis was performed to assess wether was OpenPose able to detect significant differences between poor and good execution of a functional test in the 15 rated parameters. Results: OP was able to reliably assess following parameters: Loss of balance, Excessive upper extremity movement and Lateral...

On Group-Sequential Multiple Testing Controlling Familywise Error Rate

Fu, Yiyong January 2015 (has links)
The importance of multiplicity adjustment has gained wide recognition in modern scientific research. Without it, there will be too many spurious results and reproducibility becomes an issue; with it, if overtly conservative, discoveries will be made more difficult. In the current literature on repeated testing of multiple hypotheses, Bonferroni-based methods are still the main vehicle carrying the bulk of multiplicity adjustment. There is room for power improvement by suitably utilizing both hypothesis-wise and analysis- wise dependencies. This research will contribute to the development of a natural group-sequential extension of the classical stepwise multiple testing procedures, such as Dunnett’s stepdown and Hochberg’s step-up procedures. It is shown that the proposed group-sequential procedures strongly control the familywise error rate while being more powerful than the recently developed class of group-sequential Bonferroni-Holm’s procedures. Particularly in this research, a convexity property is discovered for the distribution of the maxima of pairwise null P-values with the underlying test statistics having distributions such as bivariate normal, t, Gamma, F, or Archimedean copulas. Such property renders itself for an immediate use in improving Holm’s procedure by incorporating pairwise dependencies of P-values. The improved Holm’s procedure, as all stepdown multiple testing procedures, can also be naturally extended to group-sequential setting. / Statistics
