Faktorer som påverkar sjuksköterskan som handledare / Factors affecting the nurse as a tutor

Claesson, Anna, Ohlsson, Lena January 2014 (has links)
I resultatet framkom tre olika problemkategorier. / The most important factors in a tutorial session are the pedagogic discussions and making sure that the students have adequate knowledge for the nurse case under study. However, the question is how the tutors experience their situation and what resources and support they consider to be of importance in order to meet the demands for an optimum tutorial service. The aim of this study was to study factors affecting the nurse in the role as a tutor. The method was a systematic literature review and final detailed analysis of 10 specially selected articles. The results showed that there are three different categories of problems. Category 1 includes obstacles within the nurse ward resulting in lack of time for nurses to perform tutorial activity. Category 2 problems are insufficient support from the health care unit, from the Nurse School, from colleagues or teachers. Category 3, finally, includes inadequate knowledge and experience from the tutor which may result in lack of acknowledgment. More studies on the nurse as a tutor and factors affecting the nurse in the tutorial role are needed. Many of the nurses on the health care units and wards are not feeling comfortable with the tutorial process, the support for the supervision being inadequate. Despite the increasing demands on the tutors during clinical education increases there are currently no national standards or guidelines that show what training is appropriate. Distinct demands and roles, deeply rooted in practical work, would be a god tool supporting the tutors in their teaching supervision. .

Can Leaders Influence a Learning Organization? An Exploratory Study of the Relationship Between Leadership, Organizational Learning Capability and the Mediating Role of Trust

Grover, Ira Ann 13 September 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to study how organizations maintain their competitive advantage in today’s turbulent and highly competitive business environment, by striving to become a learning organization. The impact of factors such as leadership (both transformational and transactional leadership) and trust on an organization’s learning capability is empirically examined. This research adds to the existing body of literature in two ways. First, it argues that a transactional leadership style can influence learning, despite research spanning the last decade that has focused on transformational leadership theory as the dominant model of effective leadership. Therefore, the importance of both leadership styles, each having valuable differential effects is emphasized in this study. Second, the previously untested role of trust as mediating the relationship between leadership and organizational learning capability is examined. It is argued that without supervisor trust, the opportunities for a learning organization to reach its full potential and to subsequently develop learning capabilities is reduced. Findings from this study support the influence of both leadership styles on learning. Trust in one’s supervisor was also found to fully mediate the relationship between leadership and learning.

Análisis y diseño de un sistema de monitoreo de costos operacionales en línea de procesos mineros

Jiménez Aguayo, Oscar Claudio January 2007 (has links)

Student nurses' opinions regarding the clinical learning environment and supervision at Malamulo Hospital, Malawi

Kachiwala, Annie Yanjanani 28 February 2007 (has links)
Student Number : 0317159E - MSc(Nursing) research report - School of Therapeutics - Faculty of Health Sciences / The learning environment and supervision in clinical placement play an important role in nursing education. The purpose of this study was to describe the opinions of student nurses with regard to the clinical learning environment and supervision at Malamulo Hospital, Malawi. A quantitative descriptive design was used. Data were collected from nursing students at Malamulo College of Health Science using the Clinical Learning Environment Scale (CLES) comprising structured questions. The questionnaire was administered to the total population of students (N=84) and the response rate was 87% (n=73). Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data. Relationships between variables were determined by using Fisher’s exact test and the t-test. The findings revealed that the majority of the participants were satisfied with their clinical learning environment and supervision in their latest clinical placement. Particularly, they were satisfied with the relationship that prevailed between students and members of nursing staff, feedback they received from their supervisors, the nursing care given to patients and the quality of learning opportunities. However, it was determined that nurse teachers did not regularly supervise students and also that some students were not clear about the nursing philosophy of their wards. Ward familiarization processes were not well planned as indicated by about a third of the participants. More than one third also indicated that the learning situations were not sufficient and not meaningful. While 73.98 % indicated that they received constructive feedback from their supervisors, about half of the participants indicated that the feedback was not given continuously. The majority (67.76%) of the participants experienced team supervision as opposed to individual supervision. Therefore it is recommended that nurse teachers increase the number of visits to the wards when students are in clinical placement to improve quality of clinical learning. The nursing college may need to have specific clinical instructors who are trained in clinical supervision and who will be available for students in the clinical placements regularly. The ward managers and the nursing staff need to clarify and display their ward nursing philosophy so that both nurses and students can have a common understanding and common goal in the provision of nursing care. It is also recommended that feedback be given to students continuously to enhance learning.

A Study of the Correlation Between Job Satisfaction and Organizational Characteristics, Job Task Factors and Personal Characteristics among Social Work Supervisors and Administrators in the United States

Turner, Avis W. 14 December 2018 (has links)
This study explores which factors are better predictors of job satisfaction by measuring the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational characteristics; job satisfaction and job task factors; and job satisfaction and personal characteristics among social work supervisors and administrators in the United States. The Afrocentric paradigm, which has the potential to address human conditions regardless of worker race, ethnicity, gender, social or geographical location, provides understanding for how social work supervisors and administrators utilize resources and roles to increase leader job satisfaction rates. An Afrocentric approach is used in this study to show how social work supervisors and administrators can be effective change agents and active participants in promoting levels of satisfaction, and in advancing the importance of leadership initiatives that focus on increasing leader job satisfaction rates. The Afrocentric paradigm provides a means for reducing stress levels and countering the negative images and challenges that prevent worker’s functioning at their highest potential. The merits of this study provide organizations an opportunity to draw from social work supervisors’ and administrators’ experiences to establish new ways to respond to the social service executive management challenge of maintaining stable social work leader job satisfaction rates. .

CRITICAL INCIDENTS IN MULTICULTURAL SUPERVISION AND THEIR IMPACTS ON SUPERVISEES AND THE SUPERVISION RELATIONSHIP

Becerra, Monica 01 December 2018 (has links)
Multicultural competency is essential in the field of psychology and a major component of training involves multicultural supervision. Neglecting cultural issues may led to negative consequences in the development of the supervisor and supervisee relationship and in turn affect the work done with clients. Using a stratified random sample of 50 graduate students in APA accredited programs and internship sites, the researchers explored the specific supervisor behaviors and interventions that represent effective and poor multicultural supervision. This qualitative replication study incorporates Chu and Chwalisz’s (1999) critical incident questionnaire (CIQ) and a demographic questionnaire. The qualitative data was analyzed using Grounded Theory Method to create positive and negative categories of multicultural supervision experiences and associated processes and outcomes. Recommendations will be given for training and research purposes.

ASSESSMENT OF SUPERVISEE CONFIDENCE TO INITIATE DISCUSSION OF HARM WITH FIELD SUPERVISOR

Navarrete, Gino A 01 June 2017 (has links)
An imbalance of the power differential between supervisee and field supervisor has led to a complex issue during field supervision such as an inability to initiate discussion of harm. The purpose of this study was to educate students on harm in field supervision, potential repercussions if harm is not discussed with their field supervisor, and steps that can be taken by MSW students to assess confidence to initiate discussion of harm with their field supervisors. It was hypothesized that MSW students receiving an educational training on harm in field supervision will have more confidence to initiate discussion of harm with their field supervisors. A quantitative one-group pretest-posttest study was designed for this research study. Also, pre-test and post-test surveys were distributed to participants, and an educational training powerpoint on the significance of harm during field supervision was implemented between the pre-test and post-test surveys. A paired differences t-test was used to assess for changes in MSW student confidence to initiate discussion of harm with field supervisors. The results of this study indicated that MSW students were not more likely to discuss harm with their field supervisor as a result of receiving an educational powerpoint on the importance of discussion, so this study failed to reject the null hypothesis. This study assisted with informing MSW students about the possible repercussions, and the importance of not informing their field supervisors that they were harmed. In addition, future MSW students would be informed about alternatives to discuss harm by their field supervisors if one does not feel safe to do so with their own field supervisors.
