O autor \"florentino\" da literatura suíça em língua italiana: Francesco Chiesa / The \"florentine\" author of Switzerland\'s literature in italian: Francesco Chiesa.Marcelo Eduardo Redoschi 08 May 2008 (has links)
REDOSCHI, M.E. / ABSTRACT REDOSCHI, M.E. The \"florentine\" author of Switzerland\'s literature in italian: Francesco Chiesa. 2008. 90 pag. Master\'s Thesis - Faculty of Filosofy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH), Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, 2008. Switzerland is a country located at the center of western Europe with four official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansch. The Helvetian Confederation has twenty-six highly autonomous administrative units, called Cantons, formed throughout history. Dante\'s language is present as the mother tongue of the bulk of Canton Ticino\'s population as well in four alpine valleys on the nearby Canton Grisons. There it shares space with Swiss-German and Romansch. The background for the formation of the Italian spoken in the region, which had standardized around tuscan rules from the sixteenth century - thanks to the quality of schools maintained by clerics such as Saint Charles Borromeo - is presented. The most modern grammars and teaching methods available at the time were used. At this crossroads of civilizations, with an inhabited area equivalent to the city of São Paulo and a few nearby suburbs, appeared Francesco Chiesa. He was the first Swiss author to effectively brave the italian book market, thus inscribing his region\'s name forever on the Italian language and literature textbooks. Added to his prolific production in prose and verse, is his longevous biography (1871-1973). Worthy of note are his activities as professor of italian, art history, journalist and supporter of his land\'s lombardic cultural and artistic heritage. In 1925 would be published Tempo di marzo, which would become his best known work abroad. A portrait of agrarian Ticino society at the early nineteen-hundreds, the romance is a lyric transposition of the region\'s historical realities. As the boy Nino moves toward the end of his childhood, we get to experience the geography, customs and traditions of yesteryear Ticino. By virtue of his clear, fluid, almost \"manzonian\" writing, the novel was discussed and taught at Northern Italy schools. It was used as a model in italian composition classes. Finished in 1943, Io e i miei, is a \'modern\' work, within Chiesa\'s style. Released right in the middle of wartime, logistical factors prevented the book from having a much deserved accolade. A sort of hybrid between a short story and a novel, it narrates the internal conflicts of a family of remarried widowers, the daughter Serafina and the son Manlio. In evidence are the father\'s issues. A pessimistic tone, of quiet languishing and resignation, in contrast to the youthfulness and joy of Tempo di marzo strides the narrative. The melancholic account of deserted, decadent villages is compared to extracts of Il fondo del sacco, written third years later by the Grison native Plinio Martini, which had embraced realism themes. Francesco Chiesa was the first and most \"Florentine\" of Italian speaking Swiss authors.

Kolektivní správa práv autorských a práv souvisejících s právem autorským / Collective administration of copyright and neighbouring and relating rightsBaloghová, Alžběta January 2017 (has links)
The subject of the submitted master thesis is Collective management of copyright and related rights. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the system of collective management and its legal framework in the Czech Republic and to point out the current changes and news in the European and Czech legislation. Furthermore it gives an insight into the regulation of collective management in Switzerland and enables comparison with the Czech regulation. Except for the introduction and the conclusion the work is divided into four chapters that represent four thematic sections. The first chapter is an introduction to copyright law. Firstly it presents historical development of copyright law in the world and on the territory of the present Czech Republic. This chapter contains also definitions of the basic terms that are used in the thesis, such as the author, the moral and economic rights of author, the work or related rights. The second chapter is dedicated to the regulation of collective management that is currently legally binding in the Czech Republic and its judicial and academic interpretation. It deals with the basic principles, terms and institutes of collective management. Also the individual Czech collective management organisations are mentioned there. The third part of the thesis is split into...

Aspects of communities of practice among emerging German Swiss folk musiciansSpecker, Sharonne K. 08 September 2017 (has links)
In this thesis, I explore the dynamics of German Swiss folk music today in relation to the emerging musicians who have been involved in a folk music post-secondary program in recent years. Approaching the field as a community of musical practice (Lave and Wenger 1991), I attend to processes of learning and transmission and to the spaces of experience in which it takes place. In participant responses, three key themes emerged. The first was the significance of the recently-established folk music postsecondary program as a site of learning and participation for emerging German Swiss musicians. The second was the importance of creativity among this demographic, and the way in which learning environments and spaces of experience (Gosselain 2016), such as universities or festivals, shape this creative potential. The third was the centrality of Swiss folk music festivals to the continuance of this music and community, and the way in which they offer spaces of experience in which to connect, learn, share, and participate. In this thesis, I draw on the theoretical concepts of legitimate peripheral participation, boundary objects, spaces of experience, and genealogy, and explore issues pertaining to informal and formal learning, intergenerationality, access and power, and peripherality. / Graduate / 2018-08-31

Tectonic studies at the S.W. end of the Aar Massif, SwitzerlandTaylor, Christopher January 1976 (has links)
Comparisons are drawn of the effects of the Alpine orogeny on Mesozoic sediments and the underlying Hercynian massif basement rocks at the SW end of the Aar Massif. The study has also brought a clearer understanding of the pre-Permian geological history of the massif. The main lithological units in basement and cover are briefly described, and their mapping on 1 : 10,000 scale has shown large and medium scale structures. Deformation sequences have been established for the basement (D1b to D6b) and for the cover (D1c to D3c) and there is a clear correlation of Alpine st ructures (D1c to D3c equivalent to D4b to D6b). In the basement the late-Hercynian deformation of Upper Carboniferous metasediments is recognizable. These sediments were deposited on the older Altkristallin gneiss complex which had previously suffered the main Hercynian deformation and metamorphism. The trend of Alpine structures is subparallel to the trend of late-Hercynian structures, producing difficulties in discernment, and consolidating the regional NE-SW trend of basement structures. Alpine deformation was fairly simple, comprising one main deformation, followed by two weak phases producing only localized small-scale structures. Quantitative strain analysis for the main Alpine deformation investigates local situations and compares different types of strain marker. Incremental strains are recorded in curved pressure shadow quartz fibres in both basement and cover. These indicate early extension directions steeply plunging SE, later rotating through gentle plunge E, to subhorizontal NE and gentle plunge SW. Deformed Carboniferous pebbles, and cover ooids, intraclasts, faecal pellets, and ammonites have been analyzed, but all except faecal pellets suffer from the presence of initial preferred orientations and ductility contrasts with their matrix materials. Illite crystallinity studies show that the pelitic rocks investigated (basement and cover) reached a degree of Alpine metamorphism just inside low-grade as defined by WINKLER (1974) though the presence of graphite may have allowed this grade to be attained at relatively low temperatures. Further studies show this to have been a Barrovian-type syntectonic metamorphism. Generally similar finite Alpine deformation of basement and cover may be inferred from similar development of structures and similar quantitative strain estimates, but the very varied compositions and textures of rocks will have required somewhat different deformation mechanisms, and varied strain distribution.

Studies on the probable origin of some European douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii [Mirb.] Franco) plantationsBerney, Jean Louis Ami January 1972 (has links)
In Europe, the origin of older Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii [Mirb.] Franco) plantations is generally unknown. The tracing of the probable origin of one Swiss and twenty Polish Douglas-fir stands was attempted.
Cone and seed characteristics were measured on material collected from all twenty-one European stands, and compared with the displayed variation of the same characteristics from Douglas-fir growing in its natural range on the Pacific Coast of North America.
A seed morphology test, as described by Allen (1960), was used to indicate the Coastal or Interior origin of the samples. Based on this test, the stands from Boezingen/Switzerland and from Purda Lesna/ Poland proved both to be of Coastal origin.
A direct comparison of averages of six cone characteristics (width and length of cone scale, width of bract, length of first and second prong, and rating of bract) with the ranges of averages of these characteristics as they vary in climatic seed collection zones of the natural range (Yao [1971]) did not allow an unequivocal assessment of origin. From these comparisons, it could be concluded that cone scale and bract width are more influenced by the environment than the other characteristics.
The six characteristics of cone morphology, one thousand-seed weight (measured or assessed on 124 samples from the natural range) and relative DNA content (measured on thirty-six samples of the Coastal
part of the natural range) were used concurrently to perform discriminant analyses based on different subspecies, climatic and latitudinal groupings. The discriminant functions obtained were then used to classify the twenty-one provenances of unknown origin. Their origin was assessed at the intersection of the groups to which they were attributed in the different analyses.
The low number of provenances, when compared with the immense natural range, and the low number of characteristics taken into consideration, did not allow a complete separation of the groups of provenances. Therefore, the assessment of origin based on cone and seed morphology is still to be considered with caution.
Pre-established curvilinear regressions of relative DNA content of embryo cells on latitude in both Coastal and Interior Douglas-fir (El-Lakany and Sziklai [1971, 1972]), were used for inverse estimation of the latitude of origin. It could be established, by this method, that the stand from Boezingen/Switzerland originates between lat. 44° and 47°N on the Coast.
When samples are sufficient from the unknown stand, as was the case for provenance Boezingen, seed characteristics and relative DNA content gave promising indication of the probable origin. / Forestry, Faculty of / Graduate

The subjects of my thesis are the specifics of the rural municipalities in the Czech borderland. More specifically it focuses on the development potential of a selected part of the region of Bohemian Switzerland. The theoretical part deals with definition of the terms countryside, borderland and periphery which helps to better define the selected region. As a basis for further examination serves the provided common characteristics of the Czech countryside along with an assessment of the individual specifics of the selected region caused by the historical development of the countryside. The practical part consists of a comprehensive description of the Bohemian Switzerland region, including a questionnaire inquiry. Results and findings resulting from the inquiry are further elaborated through a managed interview with the mayor of a selected municipality. The goal of the thesis is to analyse the development potential of the region and the effectiveness of the activities of mayors of the individual municipalities with regard to the region's potential.

Individuals’ strategies for wellbeing during the integration process - An empirical study of capabilities and opportunities through the eyes of Syrian refugees in the Canton of Vaud, in SwitzerlandWidmer, Irina A. January 2020 (has links)
Integration concerns everyone in society as a constantly on-going process of constructing belonging and participation as a member of the group. The common objective of the process for individuals is to increase their subjective wellbeing, according to their individual values. However, refugees undergo an extreme case of integration, with all aspects of their life being impacted at once. Therefore, to gain more knowledge about the integration process from the perspectives of individuals, nine qualitative interviews were conducted with Syrian refugees living in Switzerland. This thesis then mobilises the capability approach to conduct a thematic comparison. The analysis revealed a common pattern among all interviewees which builds up into a 5-stages integration model, experienced by all interviewees in the same chronological order. Nevertheless, the personal capabilities and opportunities vary, resulting in different strategies to deal with a same context and similar objectives at a specific stage.
