Aim: In a knowledge-intensive economy, talented employees with their skills and experience, are becoming increasingly important in the company, and this can’t always be justified by a higher salary. Instead, organizational culture can play a central role in maintaining talented employees. The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of how talented employees experience the influence of organizational culture on the intention to remain in anorganization. One research question that the study intends to answer is: ●F1: "How do talented employees experience that a retaining organizational culture occur?" ●F2: "Why do the talented employees feel that some emphasis in the organizational culture is important for the intention of staying in the organization?" Method: In this study, a qualitative method of semistructured interviews has been used to collect empirical data. To analyze collected data, a thematic network analysis has been made. The empirical material and the analyzed material are presented in separate chapters with an accompanying enddiscussion. Result & Conclusions: The results from this study show that four basic assumptions: "Affiliation", “Professionalism”, "No Secrets," and "Freedom" are central to emphasizing in an organizational culture to maintain talented employees. The study also shows that the basic assumptions appear as their own themes, but that they also relate to each other as they can enable each other or act as counterparts. Contribution of the thesis: The study contributes to the development of existing theory, as questions about why and how a retaining organizational culture can occur has been answered. It also implies a depth when a qualitative research strategy has been used to investigate a phenomenon that former researchers have quantitatively investigated. The study also provides a practical contribution to business executives whose employees can be seen as talented employees. Suggestions for future research: The limitations of this study are that organizational culture has only been investigated in a specific context of a company. Future research is recommended to carry out the same type of study in a different industry than the IT industry. We have not been able to confirm the relationships presented when they emerged through the analysis, and future research should further study the relationships.

Školní vzdělávání sportovně nadaných žáků a studentů / The Education of Athletically Gifted StudentsOrlová, Jana January 2015 (has links)
My thesis focuses on the subject of 'education of athletically talented students' on a theoretical and empirical level. The theoretical part describes 'talent' on a general basis followed by a specific description of a 'sporting talent'. It considers the conditions of education of talented students without a particular focus and subsequently discusses the subject of school education of athletically talented students. It introduces the specific aspects of an athlete as a pupil, the factors that influence his/her educational path and the problem of 'dual career'. It also characterizes the conditions of education of athletes in Europe and the system of education in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is the resource for conducting the empirical part, where the results show how athletes themselves describe and evaluate the conditions of school education. The reaserch of investigated topic whilst using thorough interviews concludes the way athletes perceive this issue.

Diferenciace výuky ve školních vzdělávacích programech s ohledem na 1.stupeň ZŠ / Differentiation in school curriculum at primary schoolSvobodová, Lucie January 2012 (has links)
The thesis is focused on differentiation in school curriculum at primary schools. Its aim is to describe the conditions and schemes of differentiation in school curriculum at selected primary schools in Prague and to confirm if and how they are fullfilled in the classes. It is focused mainly on care for the groups of children to whom differentiation is highly recommended. These are children with specific educational needs and talented children. The practical part of the thesis presents results of qualitative research in casuistries of selected Prague primary schools, their school curriculum and practical use of the differentiation of education in their classes. The casuistries contain descriptions of functional and tested models of individualization and differentiation at these schools. Of organizational structures (as they are described in theory) combinations of these are used most often: intrinsic differentiation (in common classes) - individually or in groups (sometimes with pedagogical assistant) and group extrinsic differentiation, that is formed as special care for children either with specific educational needs or talented children. Key words: differentiation, individualization, talented child, school curriculum, child with specific educational needs

We Wear the Mask: Exploring the Talented Tenth and African American Political Philosophy in 21st Century PoliticsMinter, Lauryn T 18 December 2014 (has links)
Researchers have suggested that Blacks who express linked racial fate are ideologically liberal. Given the prominence of Black philosophical thought and salience of race, I suggest that linked racial fate results in conservative ideology, which exists on a separate ideological dimension than the traditional conservative ideological dimension. This new ideological dimension, referred to as conservatism among Blacks, is vital to understanding Black political thought in the 21st century. Using data from the 1996 National Black Election Study, 2008 National Annenberg Election Study, and focus group data I argue that the conservative ideas espoused by Blacks, specifically members of the Talented Tenth, actually support Black advancement in the same way that Blacks express support for Democratic candidates or ideals as a result of linked racial fate. Moreover, conservatism among Blacks does not result in a specific partisan identification or support for certain candidates; instead, conservatism results in explicit support for policies and ideas that align with the ideas and philosophies of Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, and Marcus M. Garvey. This dissertation fills the gap in the literature that does not utilize Black philosophers, Black political leaders, or college educated Blacks to explain Black political thought and behavior. The study of members of the Talented Tenth provides a framework for understanding how Blacks negotiate various political philosophies, challenging traditional Black American political thought while remaining racially linked to the Black community

Previous issue date: 2014-02-26 / The process of identifying talent/giftedness with a view to educational services requires knowledge and appropriate resources. In order to reduce barriers to talent identificationhas been increasing a growing demand for trained teachers and valid measurement instruments. Given this context, this study aimed to identify creative
and intellectual talent in the classroom from three instruments: Evaluation Battery Intelligence and Creativity - Children's version (BAICI), in validation process; Non Verbal Child Reasoning Test (TNVRI) already validated in Brazil, and their perception of teachers obtained from the scale entitled Talent Identification by Professor (ITP). Four studies were proposed: 1. The development of the Talent Identification scale by the teacher; 2. Identification of intellectual and creative talents by the Professor; 3. Identification of creative and intellectual talents by psychological tests, and finally, 4.
Evidence of validity by way of external criterion between the Battery (BAICI) and the Teste (TNVRI), and between Battery (BAICI) and the scale (ITP). The study sample
was composed of four judges, 10 professors and 120 students from the 4th and 5th year of elementary school, two private schools in the metropolitan region of Campinas, SP. The age of participants ranged from 9 to 10 years of which 62 were
females and 58 males. The results for each study were as follows: 1. The coefficient of Content Validity (CVC) of ITP instrument was 0.82, considered positive. 2. The
teacher seems to notice more female talent for the highest averages in all areas. However, the hypothesis of gender equality should be rejected only for the Memory subscale in ITP. 3. Gender was not significant in any subtest of BAICI including verbal and figural creative skills. The same was found with TNVRI reinforcing the hypothesis of absence of significant cognitive gender differences. 4. There was
correlation between the various subtests of BAICI. The highest of these was between the visual memory subtest and overall cognitive index. As to the evidence of validity
by way of external criterion between BAICI and TNVRI, it was noticed a significant correlation between subtest only for the fast thinking. The values of Cronbach's alpha
were 0.83 and 0.75 for the ITP and BAICI, demonstrating the accuracy of results. Students who scored above average in psychological instruments were identified through a qualitative - comparative analysis of students, but these same students were not identified by their teachers. We conclude that education should pay attention to the training of teachers so that they understand the different abilities present in the classroom and promote actions aimed at its development from varied and combined procedures.

Úroveň pohybových schopností u basketbalistů mladšího školního věku / Level of motor skills in young school-age basketball playersLasovská, Věra January 2018 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to ascertain the level of motor skills of basketball players of younger school age. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part summarises knowledge obtained from scientific literature, defines fundamental terms related to the issue and clarifies the links between them. The theoretical part includes a definition of the UNIFITTEST 6 - 60 testing method, which appears to be the most suitable form of testing pupils aged 8 to 10 on the basis of scientific literature. The practical part focuses on the actual testing of pupils. The aim of the thesis is to compare the results of pupils obtained in the Prague Sokol Organization who do sports actively also outside of school with those of pupils who only do sports as part of their compulsory education and just have the number of PE lessons the law stipulates for primary education. By comparing the obtained results, it will be possible to determine whether pupils who do sports only at school can reach the results of pupils in the Prague Sokol Organization. On the basis of this finding we may assume which pupils are talented and can be worked with further so as to allow their potential talent to develop.

An investigation of appropriate instructional design to match the ability of the learnerMaxwell, Elizabeth Anne, Education, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, UNSW January 2008 (has links)
Content analyses of research in the literature of gifted education (Coleman, 2006; Rogers, 1999, 2006) has shown a consistent absence of research investigating methodology for instructing gifted students and for the development of expertise using new technologies. In this study, utilising electronic instructional delivery, an investigation was undertaken of the differential effects and appropriateness of matching the prior knowledge of the learner to the instructional method. Underpinned with a theoretical understanding of gifted education and cognitive load theory, a series of three experiments was designed and implemented to determine whether gifted students learn more effectively under guided discovery design than with example based instruction, while not identified as gifted ability students perform significantly better under direct example based instruction than with guided discovery. Data were collected and analysed in three stages. Experiment 1 was conducted in the novel domain of Boolean switching equations. Experiments 2 and 3 used identical test instruments with novel tasks in the semi-familiar domain of geometry. A total of 155 Years 7, 8 and 9 students at three metropolitan secondary schools participated. The study explored whether the presence of schemas, that facilitated greater problem-solving ability in gifted students, would generate clear evidence of instructional efficiency and preference for either mode of instruction. As students advanced from novice state to expert in particular domains of learning, it was anticipated that gifted students would progress from benefiting from worked example instruction to more efficient learning in guided discovery mode. This hypothesis was rejected as the results from each of the experiments did not confirm the hypothesised outcomes. There was no manifested expertise-reversal effect. The absence of any clear delineation of enhanced learning proficiency mode of instruction for gifted students does, however, contribute to the advancement and understanding of cognitive load theory and the complexity of learning strategies necessary for gifted learners.

An investigation into the relationship between organisational commitment and the intention to quit within a Financial Services division in the Western CapeLodewyk, Faatiemah January 2011 (has links)
Consent for the research study was obtained from the divisional executive of the financial services division being researched and all ethical factors were clarified. All potential participants were engaged in a divisional communication session where participation was advised to be voluntary and anonymity and confidentiality was assured. The results of the study revealed that there was no statically significant relationship between intention to quit and organisational commitment but a statically significant relationship between organisational commitment and age, tenure, marital status and staff with dependants respectively were revealed. Further to that, a statistically significant relationship between intention to quit and age, tenure, marital status was also revealed. Therefore, based on the understanding gained, and the relationship it had with respect to the biographical factors used in the study, it presents organisations with the insight and opportunity to better retain staff. Clear understandings of the limitations of the findings presented are also discussed and additional recommendations for future research are also provided.
