Nationalmuseum är ett statligt konstmuseum som ligger på Blasieholmen i centrala Stockholm i en byggnad från år 1866. Idag har en omfattande renovering och ombyggnation påbörjats, dels för att återställa byggnadens gamla arkitektoniska värden men också för att anpassa byggnaden till dagens högt ställda krav på utställningsmiljöer. Målet är att hela den gamla museibyggnaden ska användas till publika ändamål. På grund av detta behöver muséet byggas ut för att kunna inrymma den kontorspersonal och de verkstäder som verksamheten kräver. Detta projekt handlar om att utforma och gestalta den tillbyggnad som Nationalmuseum behöver. Förslag är en fristående byggnadsvolym som kopplas till Nationalmuseum under mark i det nordligaste hörnet. Tillbyggnaden sveper längs fastighetsgränsen för att inte skymma Nationalmuséets fasader samt för att undkomma muséets skuggning. Tillbyggnaden är tänkt att berika Blasieholmen genom att möjligöra en visuell koppling till de tre vackra omgivande strandlinjerna. Genom att på olika våningsplan arbeta med stereotomi och tektonik är byggnaden också tänkt att spegla den delning som finns i tillbyggnadens verksamhet. Tillbyggnaden som huvudsakligen är publik på utsidan är tänkt att förstås och upplevas successivt genom en regisserad exteriör vandring. / National Museum is an art museum of fine arts located on Blasieholmen in the central part of Stockholm in a building from 1866. Today an extensive renovation and refurbishment have started, partly to restore the building's old architectural values, but also to adapt the building to today's high standards for exhibition environments. The goal is that all of the old museum building will be used for public purposes. Therefor the museum needs to be expanded in order to accommodate the office staff and the workshops that the business requires. This project is about designing and illustrating the extension that the National Museum is in need of. The new proposal is a freestanding building volume that is connected to the National Museum below land surface in the northernmost corner. The extension sweeps along the boundary of the property to not obscure the façade of the National Museum and to escape the shading of the museum. The extension is meant to enrich Blasieholmen through enabling a visual connection to the three beautiful surrounding shorelines. By working with stereotomy and tectonics on different floors the building is meant to reflect the division of the building business. The extension is mainly public on the exterior and it is meant to be understood and experienced progressively through a directed exterior walk.
