Para tanto, buscamos compreender perspectivas fundamentais do design de jogos - explorar como seus designers criam e pensam os jogos eletrônicos, assim como evidenciar os termos e nomenclaturas utilizados dentro da área para determinadas práticas e correntes de pensamento. Utilizamo-nos então das publicações teóricas de game designers e outros pensadores que voltaram suas reflexões sobre esta mídia - entre eles Katie Salen, Eric Zimmerman e Jesse Schell. Após apresentar estes conceitos ao leitor, analisamos Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings sob a ótica destas perspectivas, evidenciando elementos fundamentais de seu design e observando especialmente aquelas características que acreditamos serem importante para a indução de determinados tipos de reflexão. Por fim, exploramos os fóruns oficiais da CD Projekt em busca de indícios que poderiam nos mostrar como certas escolhas feitas pelos designers na criação desta série de jogos impactaram a experiência de seus jogadores. / This dissertation explores the design of the second title in the Witcher series of videogames, aiming to focus and reveal aspects of the game's design that lead to certain trends of thoughts and reflections among its players. With that goal in mind, we strive to understand fundamental perspectives of game design - explore how the designers of videogames create and think about them. Also, we introduce our reader to the terms and jargons used in this field of knowledge to describe certain practices and trends of thought. To do this, we use the theoretical works of game designers and other researchers who dedicated their minds to this media - among them Katie Salen, Eric Zimmerman e Jesse Schell. After describing these concepts to our reader, we analyze The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings under the gaze of such perspectives, pointing out fundamental elements on its design and emphasizing those traits that we believe are important for the induction of specific thought patterns. In the end, we explore the official foruns of CD Projekt, looking for evidence that could show us how certain choices made by the designers of this videogame series influenced the experience of its players.

This thesis comprises a three papers. The chapters stand on their own. Each paper-chapter analyses a specific issue and contains introduction, theoretical framework, methods of analyses, results and findings. Each of the chapters offers new empirical, methodological and modelling contributions with new empirical evidence and findings, with new extensions and specifications for the gravity based and CGE based analytical tools. The thesis reflects my analysis of regional and international trade of Central Asia by analyzing the past economic ties of the CA with former Big Brother , Russia; the present heterogeneity of socio-economic environment of CA countries; and the future development of CA trade relations with the formation of the Eurasian (Re)Union. The Introductory Chapter binds together the other chapters by discussing the general background of the Central Asian institutional formation, transition and trade relations; the research motivations and methodology employed in this thesis. Afterwards come three substantive chapters. In the first chapter, the analysis of enhancing economic relations between Russia and CA in the post-Soviet period contradicts the post-colonial trade erosion theory. In the second chapter, how the open or isolationist policies followed by Central Asian countries affect the performance of local firms and MNEs, and linked to the economic performances of the countries, is investigated. In the third chapter, the impact of deeper Eurasian regional economic integration is assessed quantitatively in the context of asymmetry between the union members and the EU deeper integration project. The final chapter discusses the limitations and possible directions for future research.

Thesis (Ph. D. (Psychology)) -- University of Limpopo, 2019 / The present study investigated the gender moderated relationship between the dark tetrad personality types and sexual behaviours among African university students. Two studies were conducted using conveniently selected samples from two universities in Limpopo, South Africa. Both studies were quantitative in nature using a cross-sectional research design. An integrative theoretical approach was utilized in the conceptualization of the studies, and data was analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The first study (N = 261) determined the relationship between the dark tetrad personality types and sexual behaviours conceptualized as infidelity, sexual aggression, and sociosexuality. It was only sadism that had the capacity to predict infidelity and SOI-R desire. Regarding moderation, the results showed that gender only moderates the associations between Machiavellianism and SOI-R behaviour, psychopathy and SOI-R attitude, and sadism and infidelity. The second study (N = 275) examined if the relationship between the Dark Tetrad personality types and socio-sexuality would be mediated by adversarial sexual beliefs (ASB) and ambivalent sexism (benevolent [BS] and hostile sexism [HS]). Results showed that the relationship between sadism and SOI-R behaviour and desire, Machiavellianism and SOI-R behaviour and desire were fully mediated by BS, and the association between sadism and all the SOI-R components, Machiavellianism and all the SOI-R components, and psychopathy and all the SOI-R components were fully mediated ASB. Additionally, gender only moderated the ASB mediated associations between sadism and SOI-R behaviour, and sadism and SOI-R attitude. Orientador: Nelson Sabino Bittencourt Júnior / Resumo: Compreender a diversidade das Nymphaeales, considerado como o segundo ramo da filogenia das angiospermas, é de considerável interesse como modelo da evolução inicial das angiospermas. Este trabalho objetivou investigar a ontogenia da antera, dos óvulos e sementes em espécies de Nymphaea. Ovários e sementes de N. amazonum Mart. & Zucc. subsp. amazonum, N. caerulea Savigny e N. lotus L. e, anteras de N. amazonum Mart. & Zucc. subsp. amazonum e N. caerulea Savigny, em diversos estádios de desenvolvimento, foram fixados, infiltrados em historesina e as secções obtidas com 1-4 µm foram coradas com azul-de-toluidina O ou submetidas a testes histoquímicos. O desenvolvimento da parede do androsporângio é do tipo básico. Após a meiose, a citocinese simultânea dá origem a tétrades tetraédricas de andrósporos nas quais já são detectáveis a intina e a primexina, há um atraso na liberação dos andrósporos das tétrades em N. caerulea. A partir do estádio de andrósporos livres observa-se uma abertura anelar equatorial e, no estádio de andrósporos vacuolados observa-se o ‘pollenkitt’ na superfície da esporoderme. A mitose do andrósporo ocorre perpendicularmente à esporoderme e, a intina se espessa, principalmente abaixo da abertura, onde há a contribuição da endexina para a formação do oncus. O tapete de N. amazonum e N. caerulea é secretor e não apresenta ciclos invasivo como relatado para N. colorata. O tipo básico de desenvolvimento do androsporângio também foi relatado para Amborella tric... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Understanding the diversification of Nymphaeales, the second branch in the angiosperm phylogenetic tree, has a considerable interest to propose models of early evolution of the angiosperms. This work aims to analyze the anther and ovule ontogeny in species of Nymphaea. Ovaries and seeds of N. amazonum Mart. & Zucc. subsp. amazonum, N. caerulea Savigny and N. lotus L. and, anthers of N. amazonum Mart. & Zucc. subsp. amazonum and N. caerulea Savigny, in several development stages, were fixed infiltrated in historesin and the sections with 1-4 µm were stained with toluidine blue O or submitted to histochemical tests. The androsporangium wall follows the basic type of development. After meiosis, a simultaneous cytokinesis give rise a tetrahedral tetrad of androspores, the intine and primexine is detectable in this stage and, in N. caerulea occurs a delay in the release of androspores from the tetrads. We observe an equatorial ring-like aperture in the free androspores stage and, in vacuolated androspores the ‘pollenkitt’ is visualized in the sporoderm surface. The mitosis of the androspore occurs perpendicularly to sporoderm and, the intine begins to thicken beneath the aperture and, together with the endexine originate the oncus. The tapetum of Nymphaea amazonum and N. caerulea are secretor and do not show invasive cycles as reported to N. colorata. 近年來傳播科技快速變化，不但社會型態因此產生鉅變，新科技更也打破了媒體界線進而產生科技滙流，使得平面媒體、廣電媒體、共同載具、有線電視及網際網路的藩籬、角色、定位都逐漸模糊。 而當平面媒體處於麥克魯漢所說的「淘汰」螺旋後，自一九九九年開始整體廣告盈收呈現負成長，二○○六年台灣報紙一口氣有六家熄燈打烊，數以千計的記者失業。受此影響，記者專業角色嚴重貶值，從監督社會的無冕王淪為商業化與科技化雙重衝擊下的現代報業媒體工人，大量遭解雇的記者形成「流浪記者」現象。 本文訪談八位記者發現，一旦對媒體產業的未來失去信心，連帶也對自己失去信心，喪失了新聞工作的認同與熱情，「一輩子當記者」成為遙不可及的夢想，選擇以生存作為工作心態。這樣的氛圍型塑出平面媒體記者「集體灰暗時代」，嚴重影響其專業角色。 然而以「媒體四大律」分析，紙張形式的報紙雖逐漸遭到網路媒體之「淘汰」卻不會消失，而是需要「轉化」。記者創作撰寫新聞「內容」的能力不因報社倒閉而消失，社會對記者的需求更將永無止境，記者應隨社會環境與新科技改變進而轉變並提升自身核心能力。 / The media landscape in Taiwan has been greatly changed because of the emergence of new communication technologies and transition of market-driven journalism globally. For one thing, the newspaper industry’s circulation and readership continue to decline and advertising revenues keep on shrinking since 1999. As a result, since the beginning of this century, many newspapers have experienced huge deficits; six were shut down in 2006 alone and thousands of journalists lost their jobs. Based on the literature review and in-depth interviews of eight so-called “jobless journalists” who left or considering to leave the newspaper industry, this study finds many of these professional reporters are experiencing a crisis of confidence, no longer believing in themselves as well as the professional training. Most of all, they predict that the fate of newspaper has been doomed and journalism is hopeless and futureless. The study records their true stories of how to rebuild confidence while facing the hardship both of the career and the profession.

Over a century since its inception, general relativity continues to lie at the heart of some of the most researched topics in theoretical physics. It seems likely that the coveted solutions to problems like quantum gravity are to be found in an extension of general relativity, one which may only be visible in an alternate formulation of the theory.  In this thesis we consider the possibility of casting general relativity in the form of an initial value problem where spacetime is seen as the evolution of space. This evolution is shown to be constrained and of Hamiltonian type.  Not all spacetimes are physically acceptable. To be compatible with particle physics, one would like spacetime to accommodate fermions. Here we can take comfort in Geroch’s theorem, which implies that any spacetime that admits a Hamiltonian formulation automatically supports the existence of fermions. We review the elements that go into the proof of this theorem. / Allmän relativitetsteori har i över hundra år legat i teoretiska fysikens framkant. Det är möjligt att lösningarna på öppna problem som kvantiseringen av gravitation går att finna i en utvidgning av allmän relativitetsteori – och kanske uppenbarar sig denna utvidgning bara ur en alternativ formulering av teorin. I den här uppsatsen formuleras allmän relativitetsteori och dess Einsteinekvationer som ett begynnelsevärdesproblem, genom vilket rumtiden kan betraktas som rummets historia. Vi visar att rummets rörelseekvationer är Hamiltons ekvationer med tvångsvillkor.  Enligt partikelfysiken bör fermioner kunna finnas till i rumtiden. Härom kan vi åberopa Gerochs sats, enligt vilken rumtider som har en Hamiltonsk formulering också medger fermioner. Vi redogör för huvuddragen i beviset av Gerochs sats.
