Turism och Shopping : En studie i hur branscherna kopplas samman i dagens postmoderna samhälle

Jacobsson, Josefine, Nilsson, Elin, Åström, Lotta January 2010 (has links)

Genealogia do atomismo / Genealogy of atomism

Fernando dos Santos Modelli 28 November 2013 (has links)
This dissertation proposes to work with the issue of individuality in modern European culture. This problem is too broad; the dissertation seeks to restrict this question to two concepts: Atomism as proposed by Charles Taylor and genealogy as proposed by Michel Foucault. Both concepts are ways to get a better understanding of the Utilitarian movement in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Atomism is a theoretical problem of integrating, or even confusing, social morality to individual morality. Utilitarianism solves this dilemma with two solutions: economy and politics, in which the last is directed by the former and guarantees the pursuit of happiness, at least ideally. Genealogy is a way of thinking about history as rupture and discontinuity; a deeper history on relations of power that shape our concepts. The political and economic escape of utilitarianism will be put in terms of a theory of power developed by Michel Foucault. The expected result is a critical work about individualistic viewpoints, derived from the ideas of a modern movement that was essential for political theory. On one hand, there is a historical concern with a movement of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. On the other hand, we have a discussion of power and history about these periods as presented in the works of Foucault. Therefore, we have a genealogy of atomism based on Charles Taylor and Michel Foucault.

Abstract Date: 2020/06/02 Level: Bachelor thesis in Business Administration, 15 cr Institution: School of Business, Society and Engineering, Mälardalen University Authors: D’alessandro Maximillian & Mills Dominic (1995/02/11) (1998/09/26) Title: Why international marketing? - A study on the underlying motivational factors behind international marketing students choice of higher education Tutor: Andreas Pajuvirta Keywords: Motivation, students, consumer behaviour, hedonism, utilitarism, intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation Research question: Which motivational factors affect students when choosing the international marketing programmes in Sweden? Purpose: The aim of this study is to contribute to a greater understanding of the existing, limited research regarding the motivational factors behind international marketing students choice of course. Furthermore, the study aims to create a holistic view of what motivational factors affect international marketing students when choosing their course. Method: The study commenced with a quantitative approach, where a survey-study was employed in order to create a holistic view of the respondent’s motivations behind their academic choice. In order to delve further into these motivational factors, a qualitative focus-group was also used. The study’s collected data has been coded, grouped, and analysed with the study’s theoretical framework in mind. Furthermore, the study’s research question and purpose have been used as the outline for the closing chapters. Conclusion: This study has shown that international marketing students employ a utilitarian manner of thinking, where they prioritise future possibilities and the end-goal when choosing higher educational courses. This utilitarian way of thinking is founded on an intrinsic motivation which is connected to their inherent interest for marketing.

Hansson, Johanna January 2020 (has links)
This study is a qualitative analysis of ideas and ideological content, which main focus is the Indian legislation on rape offenses which was adapted after a brutal rape case in Dehli 2012. The purpose of the study is to analyze how Indian news sites portray the motives behind the new death penalty legislation. The analysis intention is to see if there´s a possibility that the arguments can be categorized within a theoretical framework such as utilitarianism, retributivism or feminism. The material used in the analysis is recently published, high-profile news articles from Indian media. The result signifies that the Indian government's argument for the death penalty legislation is justified primarily through justice and revenge for the victim, as well as the purpose of deterrence, which can be compared to the retributive setting. The majority of the arguments were also problematized from a feministic perspective, with the explanation that execution isn´t the solution to the country's patriarchal structure and gender-based violence and oppression. One factor that has an impact on the study is the limited freedom of the press in India where authorities have censored certain material on the internet, which affects the reliability of the study material. In conclusion the analyzed material uses the same sorts of argument that reflects upon feminist rationales, but this result also indicates that the unified result may have an explanation for the limited press freedom, the country's corruption and the censorship of the authorities.

Svartsjuka och lycka - I dagens samhälle / Jealousy and Happiness - In Today's Society

Gullbrandson, Veronica January 2022 (has links)
