A Study of the Equilibria Between Bentonite and the Various Replacing Agents in Alcoholic and Water Solutions

Fletcher, Joel E. 01 May 1937 (has links)
Investigators in soils have long recognized the importance of the colloidal fraction of soil, and also the almost inseparable problem of replaceable bases. It is generally accepted that the replaceable base fraction of a colloid controls to a large degree the physical properties exhibited by it. Volumes of work have been written on the problem of controlling the reactions of this fraction and on studies of the properties exhibited by it when it is saturated with various cations. Each worker has proceeded in his own individual way or followed the example set by some previous worker with specific modifications.

Use of Recombinant Human Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor as an Adjunct in Antifungal Chemotherapy in Various Animal Model Systems

Farrell, Lindi 01 May 1995 (has links)
The growing neutropenic patient population provides an ideal target for opportunistic fungal infections. Several effective antifungal drugs are toxic at high doses and contraindicated for long-term treatment. Recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) has been shown to increase neutrophilic numbers and functions, thus providing enhanced host defense. Improved efficacy by using rhG-CSF in conjunction with various antifungal agents was the primary focus of these studies. Use of rhG-CSF in a murine model of vaginal candidiasis did not reduce vaginal colony counts, or improve vaginal histophathology scores. Administration of rhG-CSF in a murine model of pulmonary aspergillosis improved survival, clinical signs, and gross pathology and histophathology scores of the lungs, and increased weight gain. The rhG-CSF was not shown to be an effective therapeutic treatment in this model of vaginal candidiasis. The rhG-CSF was, however, an effective prophylactic treatment in this model of pulmonary aspergillosis.

Lagoon Effluent Polishing by Soil Mantle Treatment Using Various Utah Soil Types

Tinkey, Roger Scott 01 May 1975 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of four Utah Great Basin soil types in removing particular chemical constituents and select enteric organisms from a sewage lagoon effluent. Sewage taken from the secondary oxidation pond in Logan, Utah was applied daily to lysimeters which allowed samples to be recovered at 7.6 and 38.1 centimeter soil depths. The texture of the soils was the most important physical property affecting their removal capacity. Drainage Farm soil (clay) provided the best bacteriological and overall chemical removal with Nibley (silty clay loam) second, then Draper (sandy loam) and Parleys (silty loam) last. The soils were analyzed before and after the test period to determine any major change which would ultimately affect their removal capacity. Noticeable changes occurred in phosphorus, percent organic matter and cation exchange capacity. The changes that did occur had no apparent effect on the removal capacity of any of the soil during the test period. The paper is dividen into three major parts: the bacteriological, the chemical, the initial and final soil comparison.

The cruel administrator¡¦s image contrast between record Grand History,History Of The Hyan Dynasty and History Of Eastern Hyan

-Ling, Yi 01 September 2012 (has links)
In this research, we found out that the cruel government officials not only have the stereotype of ¡§cruelity¡¨ but also have the image of ability. ¡§cruel¡¨ and ¡§ability¡¨ can be said to attributed to the every cruel government officials. Besides ¡§cruel¡¨ and ¡§ability¡¨, cruel government officials may probably have some characteristics that are rare. For example, honest, selfish, and end up in miserable conditions. In addition to these characteristics, the writer also writes from 1. the relationship between cruel government officials and the empire 2. cruel politics 3. the contrast between cruel politics and cruel government officials 4. the fate of the cruel government officials 5. Records of Historian and The Book of Han (Han-shu) write the different image of cruel government officials. The writers found that Records of Historian talked about the imaegs of the cruel government officials are much uglier than The Book of Han (Han-shu) and post The Book of Han (Han-shu). The reason of this is not the authors of thesse books rewrite the history, but the materials the authors choose are various and different. The difference between the cruel government officials imply that the history itself is objective- cruel government officials and their associated things change through the time. We can also found out the different associations from the author¡¦s motivations, grew up backgrounds. However, no matter how different of the cruel government officials image there are, the Records of Historian ,The Book of Han (Han-shu) and post Book of Han (Han-shu) writes form the same point of view. Perhaps it is because the different taste of the authors that cause the different images of the e cruel government officials. But from their abundant writing skills , we can know that theses authors are indulged in the portray of the cruel government officials. Also, since the cruel government officials means the certain types of government officials, their political states can not be neglected. Three history of cruel officials often given by the court fight against tyrannical¡A dignitaries, monitoring Baiguan, princes, dignitaries, and the fight against bandits task, These tasks usually require law enforcement thorough, competent officials for any object not be wide margin, has excellent political to have, Three history of cruel officials consistent both " cruel " and " ability¡¨, natural the court easily be assigned to these tasks. As the author of three history, are certainly cruel officials not small or even a significant contribution to the country, even certainly some cruel officials personality, but equally that the benevolent government of the people-oriented, long-term reliance on cruel officials of the lack of political.

Skirtingo meistriškumo krepšininkų savosios vertės jausmo ir sociometrinio statuso sąsaja / Coherence of sociometric status and self - esteem of different performance basketball players

Tamošiūnaitė, Nida 20 May 2005 (has links)
It was noticed that self-appreciation and sociometric status of basketball players influence not just sporting results and achievements but also relations with team members, other people, as well as athletes’ self-criticism, requirements for themselves, viewpoint towards achievements and rots, their status in the team and a sense of self-value. That prompted to perform an empiric research confirming or denying coherence of self-value sense and sociometric status in the group. On that base we have analysed self appreciation of various performance basketball players (n=38) and sociometric statuses. Results show that majority of various performance athletes estimate themselves adequately. Estimate means of sociometric statuses of various performance teams do not differ statistically neither in sport nor in leisure activity. Thus it is not possible to state that there is a direct coherence between self-appreciation sense of various performance basketball players and sociometric status.

Pučiamųjų orkestro darbuotojų motyvaciją skatinantys veiksniai / Factors to promote the motivation of wind orchestra employees

Tamulaitis, Algirdas 03 June 2014 (has links)
The motivation appeared in the vocabularies of our conceptions just some time ago, in the beginning of the XIX century, but it occupies a very important place in people’s life. The motivation has existed for the same time as the mankind, but why was it named only now? The motive, which is the stimulus, causes a huge medium for thinking, analyzing and researching what it is. What makes people act, work and exist? The internal and external people’s motivations are analyzed, a lot of different theories of motivation were developed by scientists and lots of them were denied. There is no universal theory of motivation helping to ascertain the factors encouraging the workers’ motivation. Considering the relevance and newness of this topic, the research problem was defined – while analyzing scientific literature, it is noticed that every person is different and a different theory of motivation can be applied for each of them as well as analyzing the factors encouraging the workers’ motivation.
