Effects of Education on Victims of Domestic Violence

Anderson, Julette N. 01 January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this project was to improve support for victims of domestic violence. To that end, this project developed an evidence-based program to provide information about domestic violence including safe and confidential ways to seek assistance, rights as cohabiting intimate partners, and the resources available to community members. Several approaches were used to develop, validate, and plan for implementation and evaluation of this program, which was developed for 3 sites in Broward and Miami-Dade counties where the project is situated. The program logic model and the social ecological model, including the individual, relationship, community, and societal levels, were used to guide this project. In addition, scholarly works from 2000 to 2013 were selected from ProQuest, CINAHL, Ebscohost, Medline, and Ovid Nursing Journals to develop this program in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of 7 community stakeholders including a physician, advanced practice nurse, law enforcement officer, pastor, and 3 recovery center directors with knowledge in these areas. Content validation involved incorporating feedback from the project team. The target population for the project includes women and men aged 18 or higher who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness, and drug addiction. Community operationalization of the initiative will be facilitated by implementation and evaluation plans developed as part of this project. The project includes community education that may help organize events and campaigns, increase domestic violence awareness among community members, and influence policy regarding issues pertaining to domestic violence.

Having as goal to investigate and examine in a longitudinal cut, which specifically covers the period from 2006 to 2007, find out extent the actions taken by the Reference Center Specialized Social Assistance-CREAS, contributed to the change of women who were there, by checking if there was any change in their positions ahead of the violence and if they began to realize how social subjects, able to control their living conditions and interfere in the orientation of social dynamics Have a particular emphasis on the presence of work and schooling or lack of them is also a factor to be allied to the barriers and rules imposed on women in contemporary society. In this study it was found through a qualitative research guided by dialectical and implemented through the use of documentary research, observation, semi-structured interview and an extensive theoretical background on the subject in question that the woman victim of violence is in a complex and contradictory context where there is both the construction and deconstruction of rights, a view that there are strong influences of patriarchal culture and the consequences of social issues that specifically searched for the public, focuses on social, economic , political, social and cultural. In this sense, the National Policy to Combat Violence against Women, operated by CREASE Parnamirim, is also reflected in its early stages in the life of these women are to nurture a real chance for these victims of violence, to perceive themselves as social subjects can control their lives and interfere in their own destinies. We want this study to add more knowledge to help and most appropriate intervention in this reality, but without the intention of reaching exhaustion, but to subsidize future studies on the topic of women victims of violence / O presente trabalho apresenta os resultados obtidos atrav?s da pesquisa: viol?ncia contra a mulher: uma an?lise do trabalho do centro de refer?ncia da assist?ncia social-CREAS, realizada no munic?pio de Parnamirim/RN no per?odo de setembro de 2008 a fevereiro de 2009. : A qualitative study about social workers experiences of the work with honor-related violence and oppression in social services

Allert, Astrid, Sjönneby, Sofia January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of the following study is to examine how the work is organized on a municipal level and what expertise social workers in different municipalities have about honor-related violence. The focus is on social workers experiences and reasoning about honor-related violence. The study has a qualitative research approach, and the purpose has been achieved by doing semi-structured interviews per telephone with social workers from 15 municipalities, divided into two regions. The collected data has been analyzed through a thematic analysis. The statements of the study participants have been interpreted with help from Michael Lipsky's theory about street-level bureaucracy and discretion and also by the terms culture essentialism and postcolonial theory.  The results show that in most of the municipalities the social workers have special skills about honor-related violence, though the skills are often directly linked to individual employees in the organization. It has also emerged how important knowledge is to be able to identify and to give the right support in honor-related cases. Common for the interventions social services are offering victims, families and perpetrators is that few of them are adjusted for honor-related issues. The interventions that are offered to victims seems to meet their needs of shelter although it comes with great personal sacrifices, therefore there is a need to develop and improve the interventions. Further there are split opinions about what the causes for honor-related violence are and within which groups it occurs. Some of the participants expresses that honor-related violence only occurs in certain cultures and groups, while other claims the opposite.

Centro de apoyo integral para la mujer víctima de violencia / Integral Support Center for Woman Victim of Violence

García Mavila, Liliana Carolina 25 April 2021 (has links)
Violence against women in Peru has become a social problem of priority attention. According to the ENDES (Demographic and Family Health Survey), from 2010 to 2018, cases of physical violence in women have decreased by only 6%, a very low percentage for a long period of time. The Integral Support Center for Women Victims of Violence, is proposed in order to help reduce the problems that the district of Comas is currently experiencing, in addition to the precarious infrastructure of the establishments located in this district that offer help to women and children who suffer from violence. This project seeks that women and their children, who have suffered some type of violence, can receive the support they need such as psychological assistance, legal assistance, medical assistance, training and shelter in order to contribute to their autonomy and a life with dignity and free from violence. / Tesis

Violence is not gender neutral, so why are we. : A qualitative study about professional sociologists percepction of violence, gender and needs.

Kjellbom, Bonnie, Torstensson, Aron January 2023 (has links)
Interventions to victims of violence in intimate relationship violence [IRV] issues from women and their needs within the law. How professional sociologists sees the victims and who the see as the victim can effect the treatment of the victims. The purpose of this study was to look into how professional sociologists sees interventions and needs of men and women that are victims of IRV. The purpose was also to see how professional sociologists see victims of IRV and how their outlook on the vitctims effect the men and women seeking help from social services. Our theoretical outlook was the concepts habitualization, thin and thick descriptions of needs as well as Frasers model about societal problems. The had a qualitative approach and we interview seven professional sociologists. The empiricism was analyzed with a qualitative content analysis. The result whos that professional sociologists doesn’t experience any differences in interventions and needs between men and women who are victims of IRV. But in a deeper analysis of the result can we see that there are differences. Experience and knowledge are important in the understanding of IRV. The result showed that the hidden statistics in IRV are big. How the professional sociologists see masculinity, feminimity and how they apply gender neutralityin relation to the vitims can have negative effects on the victim. The conclusion of the study is that it’s important to see the problem above all with a gender typcial perspecitve to spot the needs of men and women who are victims of IRV. To spot the violence and not the fender in a higher extent could be important to spot IRV, according to us. Our study and previous research shows that the gender at the same time must be seen to give purpose to the shaping of interventions.

Socialtjänstens roll i arbetet med brottsoffer : En studie ur socialsekreterares perspektiv

Häggbring, Sanna January 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to explore the social services work with crime victims in Sweden, according to Chapter 5, § 11 of the Social Services Act. The study examined how social workers define the victim and assessing and prioritizing victims' needs. It has also been central to study how social workers interpret and understand the regulation of social services responsible for crime victims. Qualitative interviews with 18 social workers is the basis for the study. The analysis of the social services work with victims based in the above-mentioned interviews. The interviews analyzed using the sociology of law theory. To illustrate how social workers define victims of crime have theories of crime victims been used in the analysis.</p><p>The study shows that a crime victim must be innocent, weak and suffering from the crime to be defined as crime victims by social secretaries. Social workers do, however, different priorities. The study also indicates that the groups which mainly receive help in the social services are victims of violence women and children. Assistance to victims in the social services designed to adapt the groups exposed to violence against women and children, such as women’s shelters, counseling and financial help.</p>
