Motivationen i arbetet : Personlighetsegenskaper predicerar både intern och extern arbetsmotivation. / Work motivation : Personality traits predicts both internal and external work motivation

Davnert, Annie, Martinsson, Frida January 2022 (has links)
A high degree of motivation has been closely linked to good performance in work organizations. Some of the variation in motivation has been shown to be explained by personality, and today personality tests are frequently used in recruitment processes. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate whether different personality traits, based on the five-factor model, could predict internal and external work motivation. The hypothesis was that different personality traits could predict internal and external work motivation. In this study, the Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) was used to examine internal (W-SDM) and external (W-NSDM) work motivation. Personality traits were examined with Ten Items Personality Inventory (TIPI), which was based on the Big five with five personality traits. Multiple regression analysis showed that a high degree of neuroticism could predict both a high internal and external level of work motivation, while higher levels of extraversion could predict a high level of external work motivation. In summary, the degree of personality traits such as neuroticism and extraversion can predict the level of internal and external work motivation.

Measurement of the W charge asymmetry in production with jets using 5 inverse-femtobarns of data measured at sqrt(s)=7 TeV with CMS

Lawson, Philip Daniel 22 January 2016 (has links)
A measurement of the electron charge asymmetry in p+→W production in association with jets at sqrt{s}=7 TeV is presented. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of L=5fb^-1 recorded by the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The sample represents a large increase in statistical precision with respect to previous CMS results and describes a first study of charge asymmetry measured in p+p→W+1 jet events. Full comparisons to previous results and theoretical predictions are provided and recommendations for extending the analysis to produce valuable input for future PDF models are made.

Comparison of Three Clinical Tests of Accommodation to Hofstetter's Norms to Guide Diagnosis and Treatment

Taub, Marc Brian 01 January 2017 (has links)
Purpose. It has been documented previously that the push up (PU) and pull away (PA) methods overestimate accommodative amplitude (AA), while the minus lens-to-blur (MLB) method underestimates it. It also has been shown that the PU and PA methods produce similar results. We sought to compare data obtained from these three clinically used methods to determine AA in children and young adults with base-line normative data predicted by Hofstetter. Methods. Ninety healthy subjects (mean 11.7 years, range: 6-36 and 50F/40M), split into two groups, children (mean 9.8 years, range: 6-13 and 38F/22M) and young adults (mean 25.5 years, range: 21-36 and 16F/14M), were recruited from the patient and student populations of two schools of optometry. The subjects completed three accommodative tests presented in a random order: PA, PU, and MLB methods. Results.Findings from the MLB technique varied significantly from Hofstetter's normative values (P Conclusions. As compared with Hofstetter's normative values, this study demonstrates that the MLB technique gives a lower AA in children, while the PU and PA methods yielded consistent findings with each other and with Hofstetter's normative values. The PU method yielded values that compared closest with Hofstetter's normative data for the oldest subjects 4 tested in this study and indicates that the most consistent methods to measure AA in children is either the PU or PA methods, and the PU method for adults.

A pragmatist: William Edward Burghardt DuBois.

Meade, Homer L. 01 January 1980 (has links) (PDF)
This Master's Thesis addresses the question, "Was William Edward Burghardt DuBois a pragmatic philosopher in the strictest sense?" In answering the question this writer has had to refer to the traditions of philosophic speculation as stated in coherence, correspondence, and pragmatic theories. The historical trends of past civilizations, which were brought to bear upon the conditions of economies and politics faced by the nations of the Renaissance period, and which lead directly to the New World slave trade of the fifteenth century, had to be examined. In addition the history of the Afro-American upon the North American continent had to be researched. The need to address these wide ranging areas is based upon my claim that the statement made in 1900, "The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the colorline," is DuBois' evaluation of information gathered in studying periods of world civilizations. Western European societal growth, and the history of the Black man.
