Mulheres negras adolescentes no ensino médio : discriminação e desafio /

Silva, Maria Aparecida. January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: The present work inserts it self in a field of concerns that turn around the relation established between black adolescent woman and discriminations. What bases this work is to verify if the projects of life and the perspectives of these black adolescent women, will be marked by some experience of estereotipagem that absorb the feminine and the race as true stigmata. This fact finishes for determining its social place and its future while member of a definite society as racist. This process is understood in this work as violence. Specifically, the question is to know if, those that had obtained to survive the more general conditions of life, economic situation, discriminations, male chauvunist, etc, and the spite of all the problems of the public schools, the black adolescent women that enter and conclude the high schooI, have its projects of life marked by experiences of life contaminated by having suffered with situations from racial violence It's our expectation to see proven that the racial question in some of its variants, still remains as reference problem for the contingent of black adolescent women that thinks on its lives for beyond the high schooI. / Mestre

A presença feminina no cangaço : práticas e representações (1930-1940) /

Freitas, Ana Paula Saraiva de. January 2005 (has links)
Abstract: This dissertation has the aim to discuss the women's practices and representations in the cangaço from 1930 to 1940, time that started their incorporation in the bands. Considering the ways of joining them (volunteer or not), we searched the comprehension and discussion of the roles given to the cangaceiras and their specific condition of "being a woman" in a space characterized by the violence. In this sense, it will be relevant to consider the performance with guns and the deeds of each of them in the violent fights in which they were involved. Also, the worry about the beauty of the body, the liking for jewels and several accessories identified, specially, in the combination of their clothing, which translates a determined profile of woman. Basing ourselves on this kind of problem, one of the concerns of this research is to analyze the interpersonal experiences inside the groups from specialized bibliography of memoir authors that worked on the topic and other sources, such as: oral testimonies, interviews, documentaries, photos, press and cordel literature. / Mestre

The perceived impacts of woman-to-woman rape and sexual assault, and the subsequent experience of disclosure, reaction, and support on victim/survivors' subjective experience of occupation

Twinley, Rebecca January 2016 (has links)
The traditional and universal assumption that rape and sexual assault are gendered in nature - perpetrated by men upon women in order to control, oppress, or subordinate them - has implications for victim/survivors of every other form of unwanted sexual contact and non-contact. The historical focus upon male-to-female rape has overlooked the fact that – regardless of gender – children and adults are sexually victimised by people of all ages and genders. In my thesis, I explore the experiences of a group of victim/survivors who national and international research, and anti-sexual-victimisation efforts, have essentially ignored: women who have been sexually victimised by another woman, or women. From my reading, my thesis constitutes the first documented primary research endeavour to create a methodology that combines an auto/biographical approach with an occupational science perspective. This supports my belief that I cannot divorce myself from any aspect of my research, whilst ensuring my perspective remained occupation-focused. I used a web-based survey to generate data regarding the experience and awareness of woman-to-woman rape and sexual assault amongst those members of the general public who responded. One-hundred and fifty-nine surveys were used for analysis. Twenty countries were recorded to describe the respondents’ nationalities, with the large majority from the United Kingdom (UK). Respondents who are victim/survivors of female-perpetrated rape and sexual assault totalled n=59 (37.3%). These are people who identified as a woman and were over 16 years old (the UK age of sexual consent) at the time of their victimisation. No respondents indicated they do not believe woman-to-woman rape and sexual assault is possible. Used as a sampling tool, survey respondents interested in sharing their story in more depth provided a contact email address. I interviewed 10 respondents face-to-face, in various UK locations. An eleventh respondent shared her story through correspondence with me. As intended, hearing and reading these stories enabled me to conduct a deep exploration of the respondents’ victimisations, and their subsequent experience of disclosure, reaction, and support. Four key themes emerged: Identity; Emotion; Survival; and Occupation. Specifically, the victim/survivors expressed the emotional and deleterious impacts which influenced their subjective experience of occupation. Hence, the daily activities, tasks, and things they need or want to do (occupation), that contribute to who they are, their sense of self, their relationship to others (identity), and their experience of health and wellbeing, was affected. Considered in the social and cultural context within which it occurs, my thesis contributes new and unique evidence regarding woman-to-woman rape and sexual assault; this has significance for relevant disciplines and service providers, including criminal justice, health, and sexual victimisation support services. Woman-to-woman rape and sexual assault is a complex form of sexual offending which has an equally complex impact upon victim/survivors; for my respondents, this has remained largely unaddressed and, for many, unresolved. I contend it is unacceptable to perceive rape and sexual assault as only committed by men against women; these are not solely gendered perpetrations and should not, therefore, be exclusively understood and addressed as gendered crimes.

Pride and sexual friendship: The battle of the sexes in Nietzsche's post-democratic world.

Yancy, Lisa Fleck Uhlir 08 1900 (has links)
This dissertation addresses an ignored [partly for its controversial nature] aspect of Nietzschean philosophy: that of the role of modern woman in the creation of a future horizon. Details of the effects of the Enlightenment, Christianity and democracy upon society are discussed, as well as effects on the individual, particularly woman. After this forward look at the changes anticipated by Nietzsche, the traditional roles of woman as the eternal feminine, wife and mother are debated. An argument for the necessity of a continuation of the battle of the sexes, and the struggle among men and women in a context of sexual love and friendship is given. This mutual affirmation must occur through the motivation of pride and not vanity. In conclusion, I argue that one possible avenue for change is a Nietzschean call for a modern revaluation of values by noble woman in conjugation with her warrior scholar to bring about the elevation of mankind.

Le féminin dans l’œuvre dramatique de Samuel Beckett / The feminine in Samuel Beckett’s drama

Rahbari, Morvarid 15 December 2017 (has links)
In Samuel Beckett’s works the female characters are seen to be absent at the beginning, but throughout the story their presence becomes more significant, and represents the different images of the female characters. The female characters in his work expand and grow constantly. To understand the female characters, we need to analyze the languages that have been used by each character. The languages provide a different image which highlights the identity of each character. They also cover many areas such as body, gestural, scenic, and pictorial. This research paper helps us to better understand how Samuel Beckett deals with feminine in his works, and highlights the major features of the female characters.

Portraits of women in selected novels by Virginia Woolf and E. M. Forster

Elert, Kerstin January 1979 (has links)
Female characters in novels by Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster are studied in their relationships as wives, mothers, daughters and prospective brides. The novels selected are those where the writers are concerned with families dominated by Victorian ideals. Virginia Woolf: The Voyage Out (1915), Night and Bay (1919), Mrs Dalloway (1925), To the Lighthouse (1927). E.M. Forster: Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905), The Longest Journey (1907) , A Room with a View (1908), Howards End (1910).The socioeconomic, religious and ideological origins of the Victorian ideals are traced, esp. as they are related to the writers' family background in the tradition of English intellectual life. The central theme of the four novels by Woolf is the mother-daughter relationship which is analyzed in its components of love and resentment, often revealed in an interior monoloque. Forster's novels usually present a widowed mother with a daughter and a son. It is shown how the plot, dialogue and authorial intrusions are used to depict a liberation from the constraints of the Victorian ideals of family life. The mothers in the novels of both writers are shown to be representative of various aspects of the Victorian ideal of womanhood. The attitudes of men towards women vary from those typifying Victorian conceptions of male superiority to more modern ideals of equality and natural companionship. / digitalisering@umu

The presence and participation of women in the construction of societies is a fact. That participation, however has been given little value by Science in general, beeping unnoticed by most researchers. Considering the presence in formal institutions such as political parties and syndicates or the exercise of parliamentary mandates or in the Executive positions, or even the mere act of voting as participation models, Science has been denying or simply omitting women's condition as political subjects. The feminist studies have demonstrated how much that mistake has been painful for the recognition of feminine citizenship. These studies include categories largely discussed by Bordieu and Foucalt, such as knowledge, truth, power, habitus and speech, in order to explain how these interfere and structure relatiosn the relations in society...(Complete abstract, click electrinic address below).
