Desde a década de 50, o ensino de arquitetura em São Paulo enfocou uma grande discussão de valores éticos e estéticos, tendo como centro difusor a Faculdade de Arquitetura da USP e como principal articulador Vilanova Artigas. Na época, duas linhas se divergiam no âmbito do discurso arquitetônico, dentro e fora da universidade: os racionalistas e os organicistas, ou como costumavam se declarar, os corbusianos e os wrightianos. Os dois grupos geraram no seio da discussão moderna nacional, debates interessantes que foram muitas vezes além do aspecto arquitetônico. Entre os declaradamente wrightianos estava o jovem Luiz Gastão de Castro Lima, formado pela FAU-USP em 1954, depois de ter cursado dois anos na Politécnica. A recuperação de sua produção acadêmica e arquitetônica, ainda que pautada na experiência relativa de uma trajetória individual, é capaz de ilustrar uma parte da história da arquitetura que ficou por muito tempo às margens da historiografia. / Since the 50\'s, the teaching of architecture in Sao Paulo has focused on a broad discussion of ethical and aesthetic values, having as its diffuser centre the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Sao Paulo (FAU-USP), and as its main articulator Vilanova Artigas. At the time, two streams used to have different ideas about the architectural discourse: the racionalistas and organicistas, or as they used to call themselves, corbusianos and wrightianos. The discussions generated by these two groups have sometimes gone beyond the architectural aspect. Among the wrightianos was Luiz Gastão de Castro Lima, who graduated by FAU-USP in 1954 after two years studying at Polytechnic school. The recovery of his academic and architectural production is able to illustrate a part of the history of architecture that was, for a long time, kept on the edge of historiography.

[pt] A logística do petróleo no Brasil encontra-se atualmente em franca expansão e desenvolvimento. Impulsionada por novas descobertas, além da entrada de novos players, os desafios têm se revelado cada vez mais complexos. Desta forma, uma previsibilidade da demanda por transporte adequada e aderente, principalmente, implica na redução nos custos de transporte advinda de uma melhor estratégia de contratação. Este trabalho busca mensurar o tamanho de frota necessário para o transporte de petróleo em seu estado cru, fornecendo subsídios para o processo de tomada de decisão em uma empresa de petróleo integrada. Para tal, são utilizadas modelagens matemáticas considerando-se as diversas viagens e destinos a serem atendidos pelos navios petroleiros. Simulações envolvendo tamanhos de lotes e roteamento de veículos também são utilizadas com o intuito de auferir ganhos mediante o aumento da eficiência no transporte. Ao final deste documento, pretende-se esclarecer aspectos importantes que impactam na atividade de programação de navios em âmbito operacional. São analisados dois tipos de serviços com finalidades distintas: transporte de petróleo em cabotagem e longo curso. Por fim, é calculado o tamanho de frota, de acordo com o porte de navio ideal, conforme os vários cenários abordados. / [en] The Crude Oil s logistics in Brasil currently raises faster than last ten years. Driven by new discoveries, in addition to the entry of new players, the problems have been increased in complexity. Thus, an adequate forecast could be interesting to reduce transport s costs by an application of a better strategy for hiring. This paper seeks measure the size of fleet needed for the transport of petroleum in its raw state, providing subsidies to the decision process in oil companies. Therefore are used mathematical modelings considering the various destinations and the commercials contracts. Simulations involving cargo quantities and vehicles routing also had been employed in point of obtaining gains through increasing fleet s efficiency. The purpose of this work is to intend the impacts of some operational problems in scheduling. Two types of services are going to be analysed considering their finalities: the navigation along the Brasilian coast and the navigation between several countries. Finally, fleet will be calculated according to the size of vessel and attempting some different scenarios.

This thesis records and details my journey of bringing to the stage Fire and Cloud, a short story by one of America's most respected and controversial writers, Richard Wright. It chronicles what I learned about him as a writer and the value of his work for the stage. In producing Fire and Cloud the director endeavored to assemble of group of actors who were willing to take risks while creating an environment for them in which they could function effectively as an ensemble.

This thesis demonstrates the previously unacknowledged contribution made by early screenwriting teachers to the development of the Hollywood film industry from 1910 to 1922. Through a study of five key screenwriting teachers from the period, it shows the significant role played by such figures in the translation of playwriting theory and theatrical tradition into writing for film. Drawing on an extensive range of primary materials, including manuals and columns written for the fan and trade press, it demonstrates the role played by such teachers in the formation and codification of a set of writing techniques specific to the film medium. In doing so, this thesis fills an important gap in the historiography of screenwriting in Hollywood, giving due credit to a body of work that has previously received only passing consideration, and highlighting the role of early screenwriting teachers, which has previously been understated if not ignored. The thesis also examines some aspects of their legacy in the context of the role and function of contemporary screening gurus.

Cette thèse propose une Démarche de Vérification Formelle d'Architectures Logicielles : DVFAL. La démarche DVFAL supporte divers formalismes de description d'architectures logicielles tels que : les ADL (langages de description d'architectures), UML2.0, Symphony et des profils UML2.0 dédiés au domaine des architectures logicielles. La démarche DVFAL préconise l'ADL Wright en tant que langage formel pivot permettant de représenter des architectures logicielles décrites dans les divers formalismes. En outre, elle propose des transformations de modèles sous forme des traducteurs (Wright vers CSP de Hoare et Wright vers Ada) pour bénéficier des outils de vérification des propriétés supportant CSP et Ada tels que FDR et FLAVERS. Enfin, la démarche DVFAL propose un profil UML2.0-Wright jouant le rôle d'un langage intermédiaire entre les formalismes à base d'UML et Wright.

Many poets write about the earth or even about God using the language of nature. And many poets and contemporary authors concern themselves with the state of the environment. However, the poetry of Wendell Berry, James Still, Li-Young Lee, Mary Oliver, and Charles Wright seems to engage different kinds of questions about how humans creatively respond to the earth. Collectively, their responses seem influenced by their connections with Christianity rather than any specific ecological agenda. In all of their poetry lies a sensibility about how humans should interact with the earth. All five of the poets seem to acknowledge humanity’s place on the earth as important without elevating humanity as the most important organism on the earth. Their work presupposes the existence of God or creator and because of this, engages the questions of being human in light of that Creator rather than as creators of their own environment or as the architecture of imagination. Their work offers an important insight into how we might live in harmony with all environments—agricultural, rural, wild or urban. Their work also suggests a connection between the Christian concept of worship, and a way of living that takes responsibility for human actions within creation. Their poetry recognizes the earth’s value as well as God’s presence and results in praise of both the beauty of creation and Creator.

The Jacobian Conjecture is a long-standing open problem in algebraic geometry. Though the problem is inherently algebraic, it crops up in fields throughout mathematics including perturbation theory, quantum field theory and combinatorics. This thesis is a unified treatment of the combinatorial approaches toward resolving the conjecture, particularly investigating the work done by Wright and Singer. Along with surveying their contributions, we present new proofs of their theorems and motivate their constructions. We also resolve the Symmetric Cubic Linear case, and present new conjectures whose resolution would prove the Jacobian Conjecture to be true.
