<p>Quickmatch is a company that recruits students to other companies that need temporary workers. Today all administration is done by hand, which is very time demanding and therefore inefficient. Employees send assignment reports by e-mail about the working hours and breaks to the administration office. Since these reports are handled manually, there is a great need for an automated system that makes the company more scalable.</p><p>The purpose of this work was to solve the defined problem, i. e. increase the efficiency of the assignment administration by automation. In practical terms the solution was described as a web based information system.</p><p>The requirements of such a system is high. Properties like compatibility with future software, platform independence and security are particulary important. Also aspects like usability and cost effectiveness influence the system design. The technology that was chosen was the web server Apache, the database server MySQL and the scripting language PHP. Because of the importance of the aspect of platform independence, no special platform came to attention; the goal is a working system on all platforms.</p><p>The information system on the client side is based on normal browser</p><p>software. No extra plugins should be needed for being able to use it. The decision was based on the goal that you should be able to use it on any computer connected to the Internet. To achieve the aspects of future and platform independent compatibility the page description language XHTML 1.0 Strict was chosen in combination of CSS. The language JavaScript was also selected to create DHTML functionality.</p><p>On the server side the aspects of future and platform independent compatibility made the decision of minimizing dependencies. No other software than Apache, MySQL and PHP should be nessecary on the server. To minimize the dependency a SMTP client was written with</p><p>PHP's socket functions. The mail function was used to send forgotten passwords to employees and to send assignment reminder messages.</p><p>The database model that was chosen was UML. The decision was made because of the model's frequent uses for both academic purposes and in the industry. It was also because of the need for a model to guarantee an efficient system design.</p><p>The work resulted in a information system that solved the defined problem. The assignment administration was made more efficient than before, which reduces the burden of work. The general aspects of the system was considered within acceptable limits. That consideration was based on the achieved specifications of requirements and the results of the testphase of the implemented system.</p><p>Because of the limited time frame the system was reduced to only solve the defined problem. Mailfunktionen används för systemets hantering av glömda lösenord samt påminnelsefunktionalitet för uppdragshanteringen.</p><p>Den systemutvecklingsmodell som valdes var UML eftersom den både används inom den akademiska världen samt på många företag. Den anses dessutom vara fördelaktig att använda för att garantera en god systemdesign.</p><p>Arbetet har resulterat i ett system som sköter administreringen av företagets uppdrag samt löneberäkningar. Därmed löses det problem som definierats. En effektivisering med hjälp av informationssystemet minskar arbetsbördan hos företaget. De generella målaspekter som definierats anses vara acceptabla. Kravspecifikationen har efterföljts samt tester av implementation har givit ett positivt resultat.</p><p>Eftersom utvecklingen av systemet har utförts inom en begränsad tidsperiod är systemet avgränsat till uppdragshanteringen. 1995 wurde mit dem Aufbau des Multimedia Online Archiv Chemnitz (MONARCH) begonnen. Aktuelle Entwicklungen sind der Einsatz von RDF für die Metadaten und von digitalen Signaturen. Die technische Sicherung der Dauerhaftigkeit erfolgt durch Migrationskonzepte. Zu den vorhandenen Dokumentenformaten wird XML kommen, diskutiert werden DTD-Alternativen. Als Anwendungsaspekte werden u.a. die Behandlung aggregierter Dokumente und der Umgang mit dem Plagiatsproblem betrachtet.

Sedan år 2000 har XHTML tagit över från HTML som standard på webben. Detta examensarbete inriktar sig på att undersöka om den nya standarden har börjat användas på webben. Den frågeställning som gäller för arbetet är tredelad varav den första delen tar upp om det är XHTML eller HTML som används. Den andra frågeställningen ämnar kartlägga de anledningar som finns till varför XHTML inte används. Den tredje frågeställningen syftar till att ta reda på om XHTML är ett lika bra markeringsspråk som litteraturen säger. Undersökningen gjordes med intervjuer av företag som arbetar professionellt med att skapa webbapplikationer. Vid resultatet av undersökningen visade det sig att det fortfarande är HTML som används, delvis beroende på att dokument fortfarande kan visas på webben även om de är kodade i HTML. Det saknas dessutiom kunskap om XHTML och kunderna ställer inga krav på att XHTML ska användas.

Published Article / This paper tries to find answers to the question concerning the availability of suitable technologies to accommodate the teaching and learning of mathematics by means of the World Wide Web. It addresses three standards for the presentation of content mark-up and touches on the importance of adequate browser applicability with respect to MathML as one of the standards. Various tools for rendering MathML on the web, as well as plug-ins and extensions, and other combinations of technologies, are discussed. The paper concludes with the introduction of a dynamic mathematics object model (DMOM) by Robert Miner from Design Science Inc. Requirements for a DMOM are formulated and its implementation is discussed. An alternative to the use of MathML is provided at the end in the form of the Blackboard Learning System.

<p>The company System Andersson is developing systems for controlling materials and production in industries. They want to add a new service, where parts of those systems are accessible through cell phones.</p><p>In this paper we are investigating which technology are best suited for this kind of application. And then we describe how we are developing a prototype fort this application, based upon that technology. After investigating technologies such as Java ME, Microsoft Silverlight, and web applications we settled upon building the system as a web application, customized for a mobile environment.</p><p>To build a web page which is readable by many different cell phones we use the markup-languages which are developed for cell phones. We put much effort in reading about the standards and recommendations for the mobile web, produced by the organizations W3C and OMA. It's also very important that one consider the limitations of cell phones, such as the small screens, their limited performance and their limited means of input and navigation. Finally we are very thorough in our testing on several cell phones created by different manufacturers and with different operating systems and web browsers.</p><p>On the server we are running ASP.NET, with a database using Microsoft SQL Server, since this was a request from the company. The development is made in C#.</p><p>We reach a fully operational application with the functions that the company has requested. We got functions for handling orders, changing jobs, supply management, listing employees, and more. We also got a class for generating and rendering of lists and tables for easy and customizable lists for small screens. The application has support for several users with a secure login function.</p><p>We have also created a system running as a service in Microsoft Windows, which is regularly sending messages, in the form of e-mails to the users of the mobile application. The messages contain user defined reminders, e.g. that the factory is running low on a certain material. The message system is well integrated with the rest of the system, in which one can list the active reminders, edit them or create new ones.</p><p>Overall this has been an interesting and successful project.</p>

Då själva utvecklandet av webbplatsen har varit en praktisk tillämpning så tar rapporten snarare upp utvecklingen på ett mer teoretiskt plan i form av en fallstudie.</p><p>Vilka tekniker och metoder som har använts i det praktiska arbetet, såsom användbarhet, semantisk uppmärkning och agila utvecklingsmetoder, har förklarats samtidigt som dess funktionalitet vävts in i arbetets olika implementeringsfaser. Då också ett specialanpassat CMS (innehållshanteringssystem för redigering av webbplatsens innehåll) har utvecklats för webbplatsen så beskriver rapporten också arbetet kring detta.</p>

<p>This is a degree work, connected to the education Media and Communication engineering at the University of Linköping, and is made for TEFK a furnishing company in Sjövik. The purpose of this degree project is to create a visual identity and to develop a databasedriven website. The goal was to clarify the visual identity and to build an appealing website that could be administrated by the company. They had a need to present their products and to let their customers be able to order directly through their website. The website also had to serve as a part of the marketing by informing the visitors about the company.</p><p>The result became a website developed in ASP.NET that presents the company and its products and lets the costumers place orders. Further they now have an interface for easy management of the website and its content. The company has guidelines on how to produce graphical content. On the basis of these guidelines we produced a new businesscard and document templates for common communication.</p><p>In the end both we and the company are very satisfied with the result with this degree project. This thesis describes the work that has been done.</p>

Gemeinsamer Workshop von Universitaetsrechenzentrum und Professur "Rechnernetze und verteilte Systeme" der Fakultaet fuer Informatik der TU Chemnitz. Workshop-Thema: Mobilitaet Dieser Vortrag vermittelt eine Uebersicht zu den derzeit verwendeten Technologien, um Inhalte auf mobilen Endgeraeten darzustellen. Speziell geht es dabei um vergleichende Betrachtungen zwischen WAP (WML) und i-Mode (cHTML). Ferner werden potentielle Entwicklungsmoeglichkeiten unter dem Einfluss von XHTML Basic, XML und XSL aufgezeigt.
