Geonyong Lee's Violin Works, Rhapsody for Violin and Piano and Heoten Garak: A Study of Compositional Style and Stylistic InfluencesCho, Eun 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to research the music of Geonyong Lee (이건용), one of the most recognized active Korean composers, while determining Lee's intent to compose with influences from both Western and traditional Korean music. This paper analyses Lee's violin works Rhapsody for Piano and Violin and Heoten Garak, and explains the cultural and historical significance surrounding both works in terms of traditional Korean music. Lee asserts that his primary influence Rhapsody for Piano and Violin was Nongac (농악), a traditional form of Korean farming music. Similarly, Heoten Garak displays a distinct influence of traditional Korean music genres, Heoten Garak and Pansori. By analyzing Geonyong Lee's compositional style and approach to the violin, one learns how his musical philosophies combine Western and traditional Korean music practices into a unique compositional approach. The study concludes by summarizing not only Western and traditional Korean style as evident in his music, but also the conceptual approach by which the composer attempts to bring a unique combination of these influences to his audience.

Previous issue date: 2008-10-27 / Secretaria da Educação do Estado de São Paulo / This study is a qualitative research that aims to looked at four pairs of students in the 3rd grade of high school segment of the education of the Education of Young and Adults (EJA) from a public school and the central municipality of Franco da Rocha. These students solved problems four situations-problems, which were guided by the Ethnomathematics Ubiratan D'Ambrosio (1975), involving the Calculations labor using the mathematical concepts and Percentage of Rule of Three. Focus our research seeking to answer the following questions: 1) Why do students of the EJA have both interest and curiosity in learning calculations labor? What are those interests? 2) What have previous knowledge that students of EJA need for the resolution of situations-problem involving the calculations labor? 3) What are the difficulties presented by students of the EJA when solve situations-problem involving the calculations labor? 4) What impact caused when the math is presented in a contextualized way to the life of pupils of EJA? We used two instruments for research, the Instrument 1 that identified the labor concepts that the students surveyed had an interest in knowing and learning and Instrument 2 composed of four-problem situations and developed after the Instrument 1. Using us as some elements of the engineering teaching, we seek to build situations that could lead students to an autonomous stance with problem-solving strategies proposed, engaging them and making them actors of the learning process. Both search engines were sufficient to answer the four questions proposed above, and consequently the results were satisfactory, indicating that contextualizing the teaching of rule of three percent and the calculations using labor, the impact on the lives of students is seen so positive, making the learning process more meaningful / Este estudo é uma pesquisa qualitativa que tem como objetivo analisar quatro duplas de alunos da 3ª série do Ensino Médio do segmento de ensino da Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) de uma escola pública e central do município de Franco da Rocha.

Eastern spirituality is driven by thought about emptiness : that of Taoism and of Buddhism and their coming together in various syntheses. It is at the heart of the art of scholars. Contemporary Chinese artists have been influenced by Western modern art and, for the last thirty years, by contemporary art. Some of these artists have succeeded in using thought nourished by tradition in order to examine this new field. Far from being synonymous with absence, emptiness in these processes corresponds to an acceptance of a reality itself subordinated to the breathing of the world. Huang Yongping and Cai Guoqiang provide two examples of an approach in which the questions of identity and of dialogue with the West find its overcoming in a strategy disclaiming the dualism which usually prevails in this kind of debate. The Western world has been fascinated by the art and thought of the East for centuries. Emptiness has often been treated as nothingness in a negative sense (Hegel, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche). Other sources, however, have made us more open to the thought about emptiness. The inspiration of Zen Buddhism is only one example : recent publications by Jacquelynn Baas, Helen Westgeest and the authors gathered together by the American exhibition The Third Mind, all bear witness to its importance in the post-war period. The artists that I have selected here, Marcel Duchamp, Yves Klein and Robert Irwin, each have an original relationship with this corpus of images, concepts and experiences without ignoring the specifically Western contributions.

Reflexe identity v literatuře etnických Korejců v Japonsku / Reflexions of Identity in the Literature of Ethnical Koreans in JapanLutovská, Tereza January 2018 (has links)
This thesis concentrates on literary works written by writers belonging to the resident Korean minority in Japan (zainichi Koreans). Through the use of postcolonial methodology, this work attempts to monitor the development and changes in the complex concept of "identity" in works written between the 1960s and 2010. The thesis is divided into two major parts. The first, theoretical part, explains the birth of the minority, the conflicts that influenced it and the changes it went through during its history. Postcolonial methodology is also explained, with focus put on the parts that are relevant to Japan. The second, practical part of the thesis, shortly explains the history of zainichi literature and then concentrates on five important postwar resident Korean writers - Ri Kaisei, Kin Kakuei, Yi Yang-ji, Kaneshiro Kazuki and Yu Miri. It analyzes between one and four works by each author and attempts to identify changes in the perception of "identity". It also takes into account female characters and the way they are portrayed by the authors and also the language the book is written in, focusing on whether the author chooses to incorporate the Korean language into the text.
