Reedukace formálních poznatků z oblasti matematické analýzy u studentů vysoké školy / Reeducating university students' mechanical knowledge in mathematical analysis

Šmídová, Kristýna January 2020 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is the didactics of mathematical analysis. The thesis describes selected observations from the reeducation in an individual tutoring environment of for- mal knowledge of university students in the field of calculus. The aim of the thesis is to describe what formal knowledge appeared, to describe and evaluate selected reeducation interventions and on this basis formulate appropriate methodological recommendation. In the first chapter we deal with the contradiction between definition and concept concept of students, we outline how to convey to students the purpose of definitions and we suggest how to teach students to work with definitions properly, including understanding quan- tified propositions. In the second chapter we present the theory of process and concept together with the generic model theory. In the third chapter we explain the methods of work with students and the methods of the analysis of videos from tutoring. In the fourth chapter we analyze cognitive processes of the concept of sequence limits. Kulturhistoriska värdens påverkan på människors uppfattning av plats : - en kvalitativ fallstudie i Strömsrum

Sjöö, Sanna January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine people's definitions of cultural heritage values and how these affect their perception of place. A selection of residents in Strömsrum have participated in semi-structured interviews and a content analysis has been performed in order to expose patterns in their narratives. The main result reveals that the respondents consider available physical remnants as a determining factor for their definition of heritage values in relation to their perception of place. The result also shows that the respondents experience limitations in their everyday life by what they define as heritage values. However, they perceive their appreciation of the defined heritage values as to exceed the limiting aspects there of.

A MODEL-BASED VISUAL INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR CRITICAL BOTTLE DIMENSIONAL MEASUREMENTS

Jiwei Zhou (11999855) 13 April 2023 (has links)

Manufacturers have begun to adopt advanced digital methods and tools to release higher-quality products more quickly at a lower cost. Model-based technologies and Visual/Vision Inspection System (VIS) are two representative approaches and are trends to facilitate manufacturers’ digitalization. With model-based technologies, manufacturers can define digital product requirements and specifications as the primary data source for all engineering activities during the entire product lifecycle, including design, manufacturing, and inspection, rather than relying on traditional paper-based documents. Moreover, the manufacturers can improve product defect detection efficiency and reduce labor requirements by implementing a VIS without artificial visual inspection in their inspection process. Traditionally, inspectors rely heavily on information from 2D engineering drawings to inspect manufactured products with/without a VIS. This inspection process is out of the model-based context, hindering manufacturers from transiting paper-based to model-based processes.

To answer the question of how we can adapt a VIS to support model-based inspection, the author selected a developmental research methodology to address the research gap of model-based visual inspection. An image-based Model-Based Visual Inspection System (MBVIS) framework integrating Model-Based Definition (MBD) and VIS applications was proposed to demonstrate the process of utilizing the Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) information from the MBD dataset and driving the VIS to measure physical targets. A plastic bottle with a high dimensional standard obtained from a plastic bottle manufacturer was chosen to evaluate the proposed system’s performance in extracting GD&T information from the MBD dataset and measuring relevant critical bottle dimensions.

The interchangeability of the proposed MBVIS with a commercial VIS from the partner bottle company in measuring critical bottle dimensions was proven by conducting the Bland and Altman (B&A) analysis and other statistical analyses in this research. Moreover, two other customized tests were run to understand the effectiveness of the GD&T extraction and measurement result output processes within the MBVIS framework. The results indicated that both processes were reliable in extracting GD&T information and exporting measurement results.

A review on the handling of discounting in eco-efficiency analysis

Lueddeckens, Stefan 27 February 2024 (has links)
Decisions on measures reducing environmental damage or improving environmental impact are usually constrained by financial limitations. Eco-efficiency analysis has emerged as a practical decision support tool by integrating environmental and economic performance. Environmental impact, as well as economic revenues and expenses, are usually distributed over a certain time scale. The temporal distribution of economic data is frequently assessed by discounting while discounting of environmental impact is rather uncommon. The scope of this paper is to reveal if this assumed inconsistency is common in eco-efficiency assessment literature, what reasons and interrelations with indicators exist and what solutions are proposed. Therefore, a systematic literature review is conducted and 35 publications are assessed. Theoretical eco-efficiency definitions and applied eco-efficiency indicators, as well as applied environmental and economic assessment methods, are compared here, but it is revealed that none of the empirical literature findings applied or discussed environmental discounting. It was, however, found in methodical literature. It is concluded that the theoretical foundation for the application of discounting on environmental impact is still insufficient and that even the theoretical foundation of economic discounting in studies is often poor. Further research and, eventually, a practical framework for environmental discounting would be beneficial for better-founded, more “eco-efficient” decisions.

Teacher-parent interaction in junior high schools in Israel : negotiation and consent

Ashkenazi, Esther 31 August 2002 (has links)
This study examines patterns of negotiation between teachers and parents in junior high schools in Israel. These negotiations were examined on "parents' days" in three schools between four class teachers and 80 parents of students in their classes. Guided by interpretive approaches to the study of micro-social processes and their application in the models of Hargreaves (1972, 1991) and Strauss (1978, 1990), dealing with negotiations, strategies and working agreements, the study focused on observations of teacher-parent interactions and interviews with teachers and parents. It was found that teachers are guided on parents' day by both pedagogic and survival goals: they seek to advance the students in their studies and to care for their well-being through contact with the parents, but also to shift responsibility to the parents. The parents' goals on these days are to learn about their children's situation in the school, but also to win the teachers' support and sympathy for their children in order to help them advance. To achieve their goals each side uses resources to impress and convince the other side. The teachers emphasize their professional authority, their bureaucratic status and the knowledge they possess of the parents and their children. The parents use their status and rights as parents and the knowledge they possess of the school and the teachers. The findings also indicate that the teachers stress mainly the instructional aspect. This approach perpetuates the hierarchy existing in the education system and does not help to narrow the gaps between students from different socio-economic backgrounds. This indicates a direction for further study and investigation of the question as to how the school can be made to contribute to greater equality, among other things through changing the teachers' educational perception. Perhaps the main purpose of parents' day lies in its ritual functions, which are designed to serve the school organization and constitute a restatement of the common goals of teachers and parents, while supporting the ideology of parent participation and confirming the statuses and roles of teachers and parents. / Educational Studies / D. An exploratory factor analysis on the measurement of psychological wellness

Gropp, Liezl 30 June 2006 (has links)
This research investigated the psychometric characteristics of self-actualisation, locus of control, sense of coherence and emotional intelligence as constructs of psychological wellness. Details of the intercorrelatedness of the various constructs will assist in understanding the nature of psychological wellness and its measurement. In the literature review a definition for psychological wellness was determined by studying various definitions and models of psychological wellness. During this investigation it was determined that the four constructs mentioned above were related to psychological wellness. An explorative factor analysis was conducted to address the empirical research questions. Three factors (psychological adjustment, self-actualisation and stress management) were extracted from the analysis. The descriptive statistics were analysed in terms of management responsibility, gender and race. The findings of the explorative factor analysis supported the theoretical definition of psychological wellness. It was found that self-actualisation played a key role in psychological wellness. Meaningfulness, although indicating a low loading on all three factors, must be present to provide meaning to day to day functioning. / Industrial and Organisational Psychology / MCOM (Industrial and Organisational Psychology)

Arguments by definition : Felipe Calderón’s war on drugs and the power to persuade

Gutiérrez Bayardi, José Oswaldo 12 1900 (has links)
Rhetorical studies have shown the significance of presidential rhetoric and the president’s power to define public issues and policies through discourse. This research addresses how former Mexican president Felipe Calderón defined the fight against drugs that characterized his administration—and the later process of changing his definition. It argues that through the definitional practices of association, dissociation and condensation symbols, Calderón advanced a particular definition of the drug problem in Mexico. Relying on the analysis of presidential public speeches and TV spots, I 1) identify Calderon’s key rhetorical practices of definition; 2) discuss the implications of those practices and the political definitions they sustain; and 3) address the limits politicians face when attempting to change a definition they initially advanced. In conclusion, I discuss how the set of metaphors and definitional practices advanced by Calderón opened up a rhetorical space where human rights could be dismissed and violence encouraged.

Všímavost a klinické přístupy založené na jejím rozvíjení / Mindfulness and mindfulness-based treatment approaches

Žitník, Jiří January 2011 (has links)
Theoretical section focuses on the concept of mindfulness, its historical background, variety of theoretical approaches and definitions of mindfulness. On this basis I provide own definition of mindfulness. Then, I present an overview of the features and characteristics of mindfulness, its applications in clinical environment, mindfulness-based approaches, effective therapeutic factors, and also its use with specific mental disorders. I also address neural correlates of mindfulness, developmental aspects of mindfulness and overview of measurement methods. Empirical section consists of standardization of Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire for the Czech population and verification of its factor model. Further I monitored the relation of mindfulness to chosen demographic variables. Results showed modestly significant correlation with age and education, and independence of sex and overall mindfulness score. In four subscales of the questionnaire, however, sexes differed. The hypothesis that mindfulness is related to profession was also confirmed. Highest mindfulness scores were reached by helping professions, especially psychotherapists, lowest scores were reached by technical professions. Next, results confirmed the hypothesis about relation between mindfulness and life satisfaction (cognitive...

Représentation des connaissances sémantiques lexicales de la Théorie Sens-Texte : conceptualisation, représentation, et opérationnalisation des définitions lexicographiques / Meaning-Text Theory lexical semantic knowledge representation : conceptualization, representation, and operationalization of lexicographic definitions

Lefrançois, Maxime 24 June 2014 (has links)
We present our research in applying knowledge engineering to linguistic predicates and lexicographic definitions of the Meaning-Text Theory (MTT). We adopt a three-step methodology. 1. We first show how the MTT conceptualization should be extended to ease its formalization. We justify the need of defining a new graph-based deep semantic level. We define the notion of deep semantic unit types and its actantial structure, so that their hierarchical organization may correspond to a hierarchy of meanings, inside which actantial structures are inherited and specialized. We re-conceptualize lexicographic definitions at the deep semantic level, and at the level of dictionaries. Finally, we present a definition editor prototype based on graph direct manipulation, which will allow us, in future work, to integrate our formal model into explanatory combinatorial lexicographic projects. 2. We then propose a knowledge representation formalism (KR) adapted for this conceptualization. We demonstrate that Description Logics and the Conceptual Graphs formalism do not fit our needs. This leads us to construct a new knowledge representation formalism: the Unit Graphs formalism. 3. Finally, we operationalize the Unit Graphs formalism. We assign it a formal semantic model, which we create based on model theory and relational algebra. We then show that the reasoning decidability conditions match the intuitions that lexicographers have. We also provide an implementation using semantic web standards, which enable us to use existing architectures for sharing, interoperability, and knowledge querying over the web of lexical linked data.
