O controle visa que as turbinas eólicas operem abaixo do seu valor nominal, estando sempre prontas para aumentar sua geração no caso de evento na rede elétrica, contribuindo para o controle de frequência. Com os esforços para converter tanta energia quanto seja possível com o vento disponível, a potência desperdiçada pela maioria dos controles estudados para elaboração desta tese vale a pena em relação aos benefícios do controle de frequência em sistemas com grande penetração das usinas eólicas, proporcionando a participação da energia eólica nos serviços ancilares. Ressaltando que a introdução de qualquer nova tecnologia de geração no sistema deve ser feita de modo que seja compatível com os princípios operacionais do sistema existente. O controle fuzzy de potência foi desenvolvido no Matlab®/Simulink e permite o bom funcionamento da turbina eólica utilizando uma metodologia alternativa aos controles clássicos. Com isto foi desenvolvido o controle de frequência também baseado em lógica fuzzy. Como grande vantagem do controle fuzzy destaca-se sua fácil adaptação a outros modelos de turbina que utilizem o controle de pitch (turbinas eólicas de velocidade variável), uma vez que o algoritmo é o mesmo, havendo a necessidade apenas de fazer testes para adaptação das faixas de operação do controle. / A control to support the frequency control is designed using a method based on fuzzy logic and pitch angle control in variable speed wind turbines. The control aims that some wind turbines operate below their rated value (derated or deloaded), being always ready to increase their generation in case of some event in the power grid, contributing to the frequency control. With efforts to convert as much energy as possible with the available wind, the power wasted by most controls studied in this work worth of the benefits of frequency control in systems with high power plants penetration, providing wind power to participate on ancillary services. Recalling that the introduction of any new generation technology into the system must be made in a way that is compatible with the operating principles of the existing system. The fuzzy control developed in Matlab®/Simulink for power control enables a suitable operation of the wind turbine using an alternative methodology to the classic controls, it was developed the frequency control also based on fuzzy logic. The fuzzy control great advantage highlight is its easy adaptation to other turbine design which use pitch control (variable speed wind turbines), since the algorithm is the same, just by doing tests for adjustment of the control operation ranges.

[pt] Este trabalho apresenta metodologias para definir a remuneração dos geradores que provêem serviços ancilares em função do benefício proporcionado ao sistema. São analisados os serviços ancilares de suporte de potência reativa e reserva de potência. Para o serviço ancilar de suporte de potência reativa, o valor do benefício proporcionado pelos geradores é obtido por meio do custo evitado de alocação de novas fontes de potência reativa. Já para o serviço ancilar de reserva de potência, o benefício é calculado a partir da redução observada no valor esperado de energia não suprida, multiplicada pelo custo unitário de interrupção do sistema de potência. O valor de benefício proporcionado por cada serviço ancilar é determinado por meio de um algoritmo de pontos interiores em um problema de fluxo de potência ótimo. A remuneração que cabe a cada gerador é definida por meio do emprego do método de repartição de custos de Aumann-Shapley, oriundo da Teoria dos Jogos Cooperativos. A aplicação deste método garante que a repartição do benefício entre os geradores seja realizada de forma justa e eficiente. As metodologias propostas para são ilustradas em dois sistemas de potência distintos: o sistema IEEE-RTS e o sistema Sul-Sudeste Brasileiro. Os resultados obtidos são discutidos e a eficácia da metodologia é analisada. / [en] This work presents methodologies to define the remuneration of the generators that provide ancillary services to the power system as a function of the benefit provided to the system. In this work the ancillary services considered are the reactive power supply and the generation reserve. To the ancillary service of reactive power supply, the benefit provided by the generators is calculated by the avoided cost of new reactive power sources. The benefit provided by the ancillary service of generation reserve is calculated as the reduction on the expected energy not supplied, multiplied by the interruption cost of the power system. An optimum power flow is used to determine the benefit provided by each ancillary service. The remuneration of each generator is defined through the cost allocation method of Aumann-Shapley, which belongs to the Cooperative Game Theory. The Aumann-Shapley method guarantees that the payment partition among the generators is fair and efficient. The proposed methodology is applied to the IEEE-RTS power system and the Brazilian South-Southwest power system. The numerical results are discussed and the efficiency of the methodology is analyzed.

Tal esquema tem potencial para subsidiar o estudo do suporte de potência reativa fornecido ou requerido por uma determinada área e seu impacto na operação do sistema. Além disso, tal estratégia de controle foi elaborada visando o desacoplamento de controle de tensão e potência reativa da área, de forma a permitir uma maior eficiência de estratégias de controle coordenado de tensão. A sistemática básica da formulação matemática que será apresentada, foi inspirada especialmente no método de controle de intercâmbio de potência ativa entre áreas, onde múltiplos geradores contribuem para controlar o intercâmbio de potencia ativa em valores especificados, conforme descrito em [1]. A principal contribuição deste trabalho está associada a uma nova formulação aumentada, onde apenas uma equação adicional é utilizada para representação do controle de intercâmbio de potência reativa. A metodologia propicia uma grande flexibilidade, permitindo não só a aplicação no CIPR, mas também na modelagem de outros tipos de controles que necessitam representar vários equipamentos simultaneamente. Para a aplicação deste trabalho, a metodologia representa os vários geradores participantes do CIPR, com acréscimo de apenas uma linha e uma coluna na matriz jacobiana, sendo esta a principal contribuição deste trabalho. Adicionalmente, a metodologia apresenta grande versatilidade na incorporação e/ou retirada dos equipamentos responsáveis pelo controle, representando de forma eficiente as limitações reais dos equipamentos. O modelo matemático proposto foi testado em diversos sistemas testes, obtendo-se bons resultados. As simulações realizadas foram validadas usando o programa Anarede de propriedade do Centro de Pesquisa de Energia Elétrica (CEPEL). Os modelos de fluxo de potência e o núcleo principal da metodologia proposta foram desenvolvidos em MATLAB, auxiliadas por diversos programas para formulação e verificação dos resultados. Sendo os principais destes: Mathematica, Anarede, PSIM, linguagem R, Rstudio. / Reactive Power Interchange Control (RPIC) is a methodology whose main objective is to maintain the reactive power interchange of an area at a specified value. Such a scheme has the potential to support the study of the reactive power support provided or required by a given area and its impact on the operation of the system. In addition, such control strategy was elaborated aiming at the decoupling of tension control and reactive power of the area, in order to allow greater efficiency of coordinated voltage control strategies. The basic mathematical formulation, which will be presented, was inspired by the method of control of active power interchange between areas, where multiple generators contribute to control the active power exchange in specified values, as described in [1]. The main contribution of this work is associated with a new augmented formulation, where only one additional equation is used to represent the reactive power exchange control between two areas. The methodology provides great flexibility, allowing not only the application in the RPIC, but in other to generally model control strategies, in which the contribution of more than one device for a given control strategy is required. For the application of this work, the modelling represents the various generators participating in the RPIC, in which only one additional line and column in the Jacobian matrix is required, being this formulation the main contribution of this work. In addition, the methodology presents great flexibility in the incorporation or removal of a control device, which has reached its corresponding limit. The proposed mathematical model was tested in several test systems, obtaining good results. The simulations were validated using the ANAREDE program owned by the Electric Energy Research Center (CEPEL). The power flow models and the main core of the proposed methodology were developed in MATLAB, aided by several programs for formulating and verifying the results. The main ones being: Mathematica, ANAREDE, PSIM, R language, Rstudio.

[pt] Com a modificação estrutural do setor de produção, transmissão e distribuição de energia elétrica em vários países do mundo, inclusive no Brasil, serviços caracterizados como ancilares, que sempre foram oferecidos de forma integrada com o fornecimento de energia elétrica, sem que fossem remunerados especificamente, devem hoje ser tratados e remunerados de forma independente. A necessidade de otimizar custos, em função dos novos ambientes comerciais, muitas vezes competitivos, tem feito com que os agentes geradores vejam o fornecimento de reserva de potência operativa e a regulação de freqüência como novas oportunidades de prestação de serviços. Com isto, novos custos e responsabilidades foram criadas, o que reforça a necessidade de remuneração desses serviços ancilares. Devem-se valorizar os benefícios por eles agregados ao sistema elétrico, representados pelo aumento da confiabilidade e da qualidade da energia. Assim, questões que merecem ser tratadas cuidadosamente são a determinação dos preços a serem pagos pelos consumidores pelos serviços, a determinação correta da participação de cada agente e a necessidade de mecanismos justos de distribuição dos recursos financeiros recebidos por estes serviços entre os agentes que realmente os forneceram. Neste trabalho desenvolve-se uma estrutura de remuneração dos serviços de reservas operativas e regulação de freqüência, baseada no benefício por eles determinado, premiando-se a eficiência e permitindo-se a recuperação dos custos incorridos. Através de estudos de casos com dados reais verifica-se a consistência da proposta de remuneração, comparando os seus resultados com valores já praticados, e analisando o seu impacto sobre as atuais tarifas de energia elétrica. / [en] Nowadays, with the structural modification of the electric energy industry around the world, including in Brazil, services characterised as ancillary, that always were offered bundled with energy supply, without specific remuneration, should be dealt with independently. The need for cost optimisation, caused by the new commercial environment, sometimes competitive, has made the generating agents to understand operating reserves and frequency regulation as a new opportunity of providing services. Furthermore, new costs and obligations have been created, thus reinforcing the need for these ancillary services to be remunerated. It is necessary to recognise the benefits aggregated to the electric system by ancillary services, represented by improvement of reliability and energy quality. In this way, issues that deserve to be carefully treated are i) the prices to be paid by consumers, ii) the participation of each agent that really provided the service, and iii) the fairness of the mechanism for distribution of the financial resources among the providers. In this work it is developed a structure for the remuneration of operating reserves and frequency regulation, based on the benefit of this services, awarding efficiency and allowing the recuperation of incurred costs. Through study-cases with actual data, it is verified the consistency of the proposal, by comparing its results with values in practice, and by analysing its impact over current electric energy tariffs.

L’intégration massive de la production d’énergie éolienne intermittente au niveau des réseaux électriques pose un problème de stabilité du système électrique. En effet les caractéristiques sont très différentes de celles de sources conventionnelles maîtrisées par les gestionnaires de réseau. Par conséquent, l’injection de cette énergie induit de nouveaux challenges pour les gestionnaires de réseaux électriques. De plus, les conditions de raccordement évoluent et tendent à ce que toutes les sources participent aux services rendus aux systèmes électriques. Les travaux de cette thèse sont focalisés sur la proposition d’une nouvelle stratégie de commande non-linéaire basée sur la commande par « platitude à une boucle » d’un système de conversion d’énergie éolienne. Cette stratégie de contrôle vise la gestion des interactions au point de connexion par la génération et le suivi de trajectoires de références. De par le fait que toutes les variables du système sont liées à la « sortie plate » de ce système, cette commande procure une rapidité de réponse et une bonne maitrise des régimes transitoires. La mise en œuvre de cette nouvelle stratégie de contrôle pour la constitution d’un parc éolien offshore, capable de satisfaire différentes conditions de raccordement a été simulée avec succès. Plus particulièrement, l’évaluation de l’impact de différents défauts du réseau sur les services proposés (Régulation de fréquence et de tension, la tenue aux creux de tension.) a été réalisée. / The massive integration of intermittent production of wind energy in electrical networks creates an electrical system stability problem. Indeed, its characteristics are very different from those of conventional sources controlled by Grid managers. Therefore, the injection of this energy makes new challenges for power Grid operators. Moreover, the connection conditions are evolving and go towards the situations that all different sources participate into services of electrical systems. This thesis proposes a new nonlinear control strategy based on a « one loop flatness control » of a wind energy conversion system. This control strategy has aim of energy interactions management at the connection point through generation and tracking of reference trajectories. As all system variables are functions of the « flat output » of the system, this control provides fast response and good control in transient state. The application of this new control strategy into an offshore wind farm which is able to satisfy different connection conditions was simulated successfully. Specifically, effects of various grid faults on the proposed ancillary services (frequency and voltage regulation, and low-voltage ride through capabilities) were performed.

The aim of master´s thesis is analysis of utilization of large-capacity battery energy storage systems, used in cooperation with facility Červený mlýn to supply ancillary services to ČEPS, a.s.. In the first part, categorisation of ancillary services is presented. Within the categorisation technical and legislative requirements on subjects providing individual services are defined, the overview of ancillary services providers is listed and the mechanisms of ancillary services procurement are elucidated. The thesis continues with an overview of accumulation technologies used in high-capacity application around the world and in Czech republic. Subsequently three technologies are presented – Li-Ion, NaS and VRB, which are considered as suitable technological solutions for given application. The last part of thesis deals with specification of parameters of the accumulation system, with selection of installation site within the facility and with description of operating modes while providing ancillary services. In order to evaluate the investment from an economic point of view, a model of sensitivity analysis is created and described and its outputs are presented and discussed at the end of the thesis.

This thesis describes possibilities of electricity trading. The thesis deals with subjects at the electricity market, defines their competences, obligations and relationships among these subjects. Trading places and their advantages and disadvantages are also described in the thesis. The thesis shows composition of the electricity price and informs about its partial components. Types of ancillary services are spoken and there is also comparison between selling wholesale electricity and providing ancillary services. An influence of primary fuels and emission allowances on the electricity price is included at the end of the thesis.

This master´s thesis deals with possibilities of accumulation electric energy with the electric vehicles and their use for electric grid regulation services. In the introduction of this thesis is characterized the current world-wide state of electromobility, including the Czech Republic. Furthermore are summarized main advantages and disadvantages of the expanded involvement of the electric vehicles in the traffic. In the second part if this Master´s thesis the vehicles are divided into three main groups. The third part of the thesis describes the energy storage and generation units used in vehicles. In this part of the script are each of the energy storage parameters compared. The other chapter includes the list of current battery electric vehicles with all their important technical parameters. The fifth chapter summarizes the possibilities of the use of electric vehicles in the Vehicle-to-grid system. This chapter also discusses in detail the ancillary services of the electric grid in the Czech Republic. In the last part of this Master´s thesis there is calculated an economical potential of electric vehicles providing the primary and secondary regulation.

Vehicle-to-Anything (V2X) est un terme générique qui explique l'utilisation de batteries de véhicules électriques pour obtenir une valeur supplémentaire lors de périodes de non-utilisation. Les services V2X génèrent des revenus de la batterie grâce à la charge dynamique monodirectionnelle (V1X) ou bidirectionnelle (V2X) afin de fournir des avantages au réseau électrique, de réduire la consommation énergétique des bâtiments et des maisons ou de fournir une alimentation de secours aux charges. Une méta-analyse du potentiel économique donne des résultats contradictoires avec la littérature et indique que la gestion de la consommation électrique, l'adéquation des ressources et le report de l’investissement dans le réseau ont plus de valeur que d’arbitrage sur les marchés d’énergie et réserve secondaire. Bien que je convienne que le développement soit pour et par le marché, je souligne que V2X se développera dans les limites du contexte réglementaire; les régulateurs ont donc un rôle de catalyseur à jouer.Une question importante est de savoir dans quelle mesure une utilisation supplémentaire de la batterie du véhicule affectera la capacité de la batterie au cours de sa durée de vie. Il est donc essentiel de comprendre les subtilités de la dégradation de la batterie pour estimer les coûts. Les batteries Li-ion sont des systèmes électrochimiques compliqués qui présentent deux phénomènes de dégradation simultanés, le vieillissement calendaire et le vieillissement cyclique. Dans les applications véhiculaires, le vieillissement du calendrier a tendance à être l’effet dominant de dégradation de la durée de vie, ce qui réduit le temps, élément le plus important de la dégradation; par conséquent, le coût de la dégradation dépend fondamentalement du temps.Une affirmation centrale de cette thèse est que le coût marginal de V2X n’est ni nul ni négligeable comme l’a accepté la littérature économique, mais dépend fortement de la dégradation de la batterie. Nous proposons ici une théorie des coûts marginaux V2X qui repose sur deux principes: 1.) il existe un coût d’efficacité associé au chargement de la batterie, et 2.) le véritable coût de dégradation de V2X prend en compte le coût d’opportunité, c’est-à-dire, la dégradation au-delà de ce qu’aurait été l’utilisation normale du véhicule.Avoir un concept clair du coût marginal de V2X, permet de comptabiliser et d’équilibrer correctement tous les coûts réels: coût de l’électricité, coûts d’efficacité du système et dégradation de la batterie. Cela permettra d’élaborer des stratégies de charge optimales et d’informer correctement les offres du marché de l’énergie. Il en résulte une compréhension plus nuancée des coûts marginaux. L’impact de la batterie V2X sur la vie de la batterie pourrait être considéré comme un coût, un bénéfice ou nul. Je conclus que le V2X peut offrir une valeur économique supérieure à celle précédemment entendue et que cette valeur supplémentaire sera réalisée grâce à l'amélioration simultanée de l'efficacité de la charge et de la réduction de la dégradation de la batterie EV. / Vehicle-to-Anything (V2X) is an umbrella term to explain the use of electric vehicle batteries to derive additional value during times of non-use. V2X services generate revenue from the battery asset through dynamic mono-directional (V1X) or bi-directional (V2X) charging to provide benefits to the electric grid, to reduce energy consumption of buildings and homes, or to provide back-up power to loads. A meta-analysis of economic potential gives results contradictory to the literature and indicates that Bill Management, Resource Adequacy, and Network Deferral are more valuable than Energy Arbitrage and Spinning Reserves. While I concur that development is of and by the market, I emphasize that V2X will develop within the constraints of the regulatory environment; therefore regulators have an enabling role to play.An important question is to what extent additional use of the vehicle battery will affect battery capacity over its lifetime, therefore understanding the intricacies of battery degradation is crucial to estimate costs. Li-ion batteries are complicated electrochemical systems which exhibit two concurrent degradation phenomena, Calendar Aging and Cycling Aging. In vehicular applications, Calendar Aging tends to be the dominating life degradation effect, which reduces to time being the most important component of degradation; therefore degradation cost is fundamentally time-dependent.A central claim of this dissertation is that gls{v2x} Marginal Cost is not zero nor negligible as the economic literature has accepted but is highly dependent on battery degradation. Herein, a gls{v2x} Marginal Cost Theory is proposed which is based on two main principles: 1.) there is an efficiency cost associated with charge operation, and 2.) the true gls{v2x} degradation cost takes opportunity cost into account, that is, only considers degradation beyond what would have been experienced by operating the vehicle normally.Having a clear concept of gls{v2x} Marginal Cost which can properly account for and balance all true costs: the cost of electricity, the system-efficiency costs, and battery degradation, will allow for development of optimal charge strategies and will properly inform energy market bids. This results in a more nuanced understanding of marginal costs as the resultant battery lifetime impact from gls{v2x} can be either be considered a cost, a benefit, or zero. I conclude that gls{v2x} may offer greater economic value than previously understood and that this additional value will be realized through the simultaneous improvement in charge efficiency and reduction of gls{ev} battery degradation.

Dentro desta ótica os riscos operacionais dos equipamentos de compensação de potência reativa, se não forem convenientemente mitigados,poderão aumentar os gastos com a manutenção e o pagamento de multa pela indisponibilidade do equipamento.Riscos operacionais são situações de sistema que estão fora da responsabilidade do agente mas que poderão reduzir o seu faturamento.Esta dissertação descreve os riscos operacionais e faz algumas sugestões para proteger o agente da redução do seu faturamento. / [en] In the new brazilian deregulated electrical network, system operation is under Independent System Operator responsibility while the ancillary service agent is the owner of the reactive power equipment and, as a consequence, is responsible for its maintenance costs. In the new model, the profit of the agent is a function of the maintenance costs because his payment is previously defined by the authorities. The operational risks of the reactive power equipments, if not conveniently mitigated, may increase the maintenance frequency and may also result in the payment of a fee due to the equipment unavailability.Operational risks are events in the electrical transmission system that are not under the responsibility of the agent but may reduce his profits. This report describes these operational risks and makes some suggestions to protect the agent against the reduction in his profits.
