Modélisation de l'apport d'énergie par combustibles alternatifs dans les fours tournants de production de ciment / Modeling of the energy input by alternative fuels in cement rotary kiln

En raison de l'épuisement des combustibles fossiles et en raison de son coût croissant, les déchets ont été utilisés comme combustibles alternatifs dans les fours rotatifs à ciment pendant plusieurs années. Afin de répondre aux exigences de protection de l'environnement et de qualité du produit final, il est nécessaire de comprendre et de quantifier les différents processus intervenant dans le four. Dans le cadre de cette thèse, nous nous sommes intéressés à la substitution partielle des déchets (pneus usés et Refuse Derived Fuel « RDF ») et biomasse (résidus d’agriculture) dans les fours tournants de production de ciment à un taux de 50 % d’apport énergétique. Le présent projet de thèse a été financé par la République Démocratique Congo, porté par l’Université Kongo (UK), dans le cadre du renfoncement des capacités des universités congolaises. Les travaux de recherche ont été réalisés au sein du Laboratoire de Thermique, Energétique et Procédés (LaTEP) de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure en Génie de Technologies Industrielles (ENSGTI)/Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (France), dans le but d’étudier et de comprendre les phénomènes thermochimiques se déroulant dans les fours tournants de production de ciments, dans le cas de substitution partielle des combustibles fossiles par des combustibles alternatifs. Pour cela, un modèle mathématique à deux sous-modèles a été établi : - Le modèle monodimensionnel stationnaire du lit de solides et de l’enveloppe du four, caractérisé dans sa première partie par le mélange de la farine de ciment, de déchets et/ou biomasse, et de gaz, et alors que dans sa deuxième partie par les échanges thermiques. Le travail de modélisation est effectué à l'aide du langage de programmation Fortran 90 dans lequel sont implémentées les équations de conservations de la masse, des espèces et de l’énergie, l’équation de transport de la charge, ainsi que les équations algébriques. - Le modèle tridimensionnel instationnaire, repose sur l’utilisation de la mécanique des fluides numérique, et l’outil commercial Fluent a été retenu pour représenter les processus se déroulant au-dessus de la surface libre du lit.Le modèle complet est le couplage entre les deux sous modèles, étant donné les échanges qui s’y effectuent.Deux grands groupes de simulations ont été réalisés dans cette thèse : le cas monodimensionnel et le cas global (couplage Modèle 1D-Modèle 3D). Dans les deux situations, les simulations ont été effectuées dans le cas de fonctionnement au fuel lourd seul, puis dans celui du fonctionnement avec substitution partielle du combustible fossile par les combustibles alternatifs. Pour le modèle monodimensionnel, les simulations ont été effectuées en imposant les flux de chaleur dans la surface libre du lit et dans la paroi découverte. Alors que pour le modèle global, les simulations ont été effectuées en considérant les densités de flux de chaleur associées aux phénomènes physico-chimiques (combustion du fuel lourd, rayonnement, turbulence) se déroulant dans le volume de gaz situé au-dessus de la surface libre du lit.Les résultats ainsi obtenus nous ont permis de conclure sur l’importance de mener en amont une étude expérimentale dans un four tournant à l’échelle pilote afin de pouvoir disposer des ordres de grandeur des différents flux de chaleur au sein du four tournant. Les résultats obtenus nous ont également permis de nous rendre compte de la nécessité de disposer de la géométrie exacte (emplacement) du brûleur dans le four tournant. / Because of the depletion of fossil fuels and because of its increasing cost, waste has been used as alternative fuels in cement rotary kilns for several years. In order to fulfill the requirements of environmental protection and quality of the final product, it is necessary to understand and quantify the different processes occurring in the kiln.As part of this thesis, we focused on the partial substitution of waste (used tires and Refuse Derived Fuel "RDF") and biomass (agricultural residues) in rotary kilns producing cement at a rate of 50 % of energy supply. This thesis project was funded by the Democratic Republic of Congo, led by Kongo University (UK), as part of the capacity building of Congolese universities. The research work was carried out within the Laboratory of Thermal, Energy and Processes (LaTEP) of the National School of Engineering in Industrial Technologies (ENSGTI) /University of Pau, with the aim of to study and understand the thermochemical phenomena taking place in rotary kilns for the production of cement, in the case of partial substitution of fossil fuels by alternative fuels. For this, a mathematical model with two sub-models has been established:- The stationary one-dimensional model of the bed of solids and furnace casing, characterized in its first part by the mixing of cement flour, waste and / or biomass, and gas, and while in its second part by thermal exchanges. The modeling work is performed using the Fortran 90 programming language in which the conservation equations for mass, species and energy, the load transport equation, and the algebraic equations are implemented.- The unsteady three-dimensional model relies on the use of digital fluid mechanics, and the Fluent commercial tool has been retained to represent the processes taking place above the free surface of the bed.The complete model is the coupling between the two sub models, because of the exchanges that take place there.Two large groups of simulations have been realized in this thesis: the one-dimensional case and the global case (Model 1D-3D model coupling). In both situations, the simulations were carried out in the case of operation with heavy fuel oil alone, then in the case of operation with partial substitution of the fossil fuel by alternative fuels. For the one-dimensional model, the simulations were performed by imposing the heat flux in the free surface of the bed and in the exposed wall. Whereas for the global model, the simulations were performed considering the heat flux densities associated with physico-chemical phenomena (combustion of heavy fuel oil, radiation, turbulence) taking place in the volume of gas located above the free surface of the bed.The results thus obtained allowed us to conclude on the importance of carrying out an experimental study in a pilot scale furnace in order to be able to have orders of magnitude of the different heat flows within the rotating furnace. The results obtained also allowed us to realize the necessity to model the exact geometry (location) of the burner in the rotary kiln.

A ação de sucos de frutas sobre materiais restauradores utilizados em lesões cervicais não cariosas / The action of fruit juices upon restorative materials used in noncarious cervical lesions

O presente estudo in vitro analisou o efeito de 3 sucos de fruta com baixo pH (suco de cupuaçu, taperebá e laranja), e saliva artificial (controle) sobre materiais restauradores indicados em lesões cervicais não cariosas: resina composta nanoparticulada (Filtek Z350 XT), cimento de ionômero de vidro resino modificado (Vitremer) e um cimento de ionômero de vidro convencional (Fuji II). Os materiais foram avaliados, quantitativamente, quanto à alteração de: peso, rugosidade superficial e microdureza superficial, e qualitativamente, por microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). Foram confeccionados 144 corpos de prova para cada teste quantitativo (n=12) e 45 para o MEV (n=3), de (8mm de diâmetro x 2mm de altura). Os corpos de prova foram preparados, mantidos em saliva artificial por 24 h à 37º C, receberam acabamento em politriz, e em seguida foram realizadas as leituras iniciais. Durante um período de 10 dias consecutivos, os corpos de prova foram submetidos ao desafio erosivo (nos respectivos sucos de frutas) durante 30 minutos três vezes ao dia, totalizando 90 minutos/dia e mantidos em saliva artificial entre os intervalos. Após o período de ciclagem erosiva, foram realizadas as leituras finais. Os resultados obtidos foram submetidos ao teste t, ANOVA e Tukey. As médias de alteração entre os valores de peso finais e iniciais demonstraram diferença significativa (p<0,01) nos materiais estudados e em todos os sucos estudados, com exceção do Vitremer quando imerso no suco de taperebá (p>0,01). As médias de alteração entre os valores de rugosidade superficial final e inicial demonstraram diferença significativa (p<0,01) para todos os materiais estudados em todos os sucos, exceto a Filtek Z350 XT no grupo controle que não apresentou diferença significativa (p>0,01). A comparação entre os valores de microdureza final e inicial demonstrou diferença significativa (p<0,01) na microdureza dos materiais estudados em todos os meios de imersão, inclusive no grupo controle. De um modo geral o suco de taperebá foi o que provocou a maior alteração na superfície dos materiais restauradores quanto ao peso, rugosidade, microdureza e na microscopia eletrônica de varredura. A resina composta Filtek Z350 XT foi o material restaurador que menos sofreu alterações de superfície. Concluiu-se que os sucos das frutas estudados são capazes de alterar os materiais restauradores, sendo que a resina composta foi o material que sofreu menor alteração. / This in vitro study examined the effects of 3 fruit juices with low pH (cupuaçu, taperebá and orange) and artificial saliva (control) upon restorative materials indicated in noncarious cervical lesions: nanoparticle composite resin (Filtek Z350 XT), resin-modified glass ionomer cement (Vitremer) and a glass ionomer cement (Fuji II). The materials were evaluated quantitatively as for alterations in weight, surface roughness and surface microhardness, and qualitatively by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). 144 specimens were prepared for each quantitative test (n = 12) and 45 for the SEM (n = 3), of (8mm diameter x 2mm height). The specimens were prepared, stored in artificial saliva for 24 hours at 37º C, were finished in a polishing machine, and then the initial readings were performed. During a period of 10 consecutive days, the specimens were subjected to erosive challenge (in the respective juices) for 30 minutes, three times a day, and totaling 90 minutes/day and kept in artificial saliva between intervals. After the erosive cycling period, the final readings were taken. The data were analyzed using t test, ANOVA and Tukey.Test The average alterations between the values of initial and final weight showed significant difference (p < 0.01) in the material studied and all the juices studied, except for Vitremer when immersed in taperebá juice (p > 0.01). The average alterations between the values of initial and final surface roughness showed a significant difference (p < 0.01) for all materials studied in all juices, except for Filtek Z350 XT, in the control group, that showed no significant differences (p > 0.01). The comparison between the values of initial and final microhardness showed a significant difference (p < 0.01) in microhardness of the materials studied in all immersion means, including the control group. In general, taperebá juice was the one that caused the biggest alterations in the surface of restorative materials with respect to weight, roughness, hardness and scanning electronic microscopy. The composite resin Filtek Z350 XT was the restorative material that suffered less surface alterations. It was concluded that the fruit juices studied are capable of altering the restorative materials, and composite resin was the material that has undergone minor changes.

No processo de fabricação de aço, nas siderúrgicas com fornos elétricos a arco (FEA), ocorre a geração do resíduo sólido denominado pó de aciaria elétrica (PAE). O PAE é constituído por diferentes óxidos metálicos. Contém os elementos químicos cromo (Cr), chumbo (Pb) e cádmio (Cd) e, por isso, é classificado como resíduo classe I – Perigoso pela NBR 10004. Gerado em grandes quantidades diariamente em todo o país, o PAE ainda tem como principal destinação final o aterro industrial. A indústria de papel e celulose, outra atividade de destaque na indústria nacional, gera uma grande quantidade de resíduos em diferentes etapas do processo, entre os quais está o resíduo do forno de cal (RFC), cuja geração está associada a interrupções no funcionamento do forno de cal. A indústria da construção civil, devido a quantidade de matérias-primas consumida e variedade de materiais empregados – cimento, concreto, agregados, cerâmica, entre outros – apresenta-se como alternativa para a reciclagem de resíduos gerados em outros setores da economia. A incorporação do PAE no cimento e concreto produz retardo no tempo de pega em razão da presença de zinco (Zn) no resíduo. Estudos sugerem que em quantidades próximas a 1%, a incorporação de PAE não afeta de forma significativa as propriedades do cimento. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência do uso combinado de PAE e RFC no processo de endurecimento e evolução da hidratação de pastas de cimento. Para tanto, foi realizada a caracterização dos resíduos através dos ensaios de distribuição granulométrica, perda ao fogo, massa específica, área superficial específica, análise química elementar, difração de raios X com refinamento por Rietveld e microscopia eletrônica de varredura. A influência dos resíduos nas pastas de cimento foi avaliada através do ensaio de tempo de pega de acordo com a NBR NM 65 (ABNT, 2003b) e evolução da temperatura semi-adiabática das pastas em estado fresco, além de DRX, com refinamento por Rietveld, e microscopia eletrônica de varredura nas pastas de cimento com diferentes teores de substituição de resíduos (REF, 1%, 2%, 3%, 5% e 10%) em diferentes idades (1, 4 e 7 dias). Os resultados de tempo de pega e evolução da temperatura semi-adiabática indicaram a influência do PAE na hidratação das pastas de cimento. Nas pastas de cimento com substituição de 1% de PAE combinado ou não com RFC, não foram verificados retardos significativos no tempo de pega, demonstrando o potencial do uso de PAE e do RFC na produção de artefatos de cimento. / The sustainable development conception has resulted in increased environmental pressures to improve the efficient use of resources and reduction of emissions and waste generation. In the steelmaking process through electric arc furnaces (EAF), dust generation occurs which is called electric arc furnace dust (EAFD). EAFD is composed by different metal oxides. Some common elements those constitute this dust is chromium, lead and cadmium, and therefore, waste is classified as class I – hazardous by NBR 10004. EAFD has been generated in large quantities every day across the country and it still has mainly landfilled. The pulp and paper industry, another important activity in the domestic industry, generates a lot of waste in different stages of the process, among which is the lime kiln waste (LKW), whose generation is associated with disruptions in the lime oven. Due to expressive amount of raw materials consumed in civil construction industry and also the variety of products available - cement, concrete, aggregates, ceramics, among others - this seems to be an alternative for waste recycling generated in other sectors. The incorporation of EAFD in the cement and concrete produces delayed setting time due to the presence of zinc (Zn) in the waste. Studies suggest that in amounts up to 1%, EAFD incorporation does not affect significantly cement properties. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of the combined use of EAFD and LKW in the process of hardening and evolution of the cement pastes hydration. Therefore, were evaluated the characterization of the waste performed through the grain size distribution, loss on ignition, specific gravity, specific surface area, elemental chemical analysis, pH, X ray powder diffraction with refinement by Rietveld and scanning electron microscopy.. The influence of the waste on the cement pastes was evaluated through the setting time tests in accordance with the NBR NM 65 (ABNT, 2003b) and evolution of semi-adiabatic temperature in fresh conditions, XRD with refinement by Rietveld, and SEM in cement pastes with different levels of waste substitution (REF, 1%, 2%, 3%, 5% e 10%) at different ages (1, 4 and 7 days). The setting time results and evolution of semi-adiabatic temperature indicated an increase in the setting time with the increase of the EAFD in cement pastes. In cement pastes with replacement of 1% EAFD combined or not with LKW, significant delays were not verified in the setting time, demonstrating the potential use of EAFD in the production of cement artifacts.

En analys av CO2e-utsläpp vid tillverkning och transport av prefabricerade betongelement / An analysis of CO2e emissions in the manufacturing and transportation of prefabricated concrete elements

Purpose: The global concrete consumption amounts to 25 gigatons annually, making it the most widely used building material (Petek Gursel, et al. 2014). The continued increasing world population in connection with urbanization will lead to a greater demand for cement. The problem with the increased manufacturing process of cement is that carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 will account for 10-15 % of global CO2 emissions, compared with the values measured in 2016, which only reached 5-8 % (Habert &amp; Ouellet-Plamondon, 2016). The aim of the thesis is to analyse stages in the manufacturing process of prefabricated concrete from an environmental point of view with consideration to CO2 emissions. This will later result in providing concrete improvement measures or alternatively only provide useful knowledge for the concrete industry’s future. The stages that will be analysed are transport, concrete, rebar (reinforcement) and cellular plastic production. Method: The methods chosen for the implementation of the thesis were Literature Studies and Interviews. The purpose of the literature study was to educate the authors on the subject and collect various results from current research. The interviews contributed to the necessary information to be able to carry out the analyses at work. Findings: The thesis has resulted in a total amount of CO2eq emissions in four different stages in the concrete manufacturing process. Cement proved to be the biggest contributing factor to CO2eq emissions. There are several different measures to reduce CO2eq emissions in the concrete manufacturing process. The measures discussed the most frequently concern the cement production, which is favourable for the concrete production as a whole. The discussion also highlights measures taken in action at a concrete factory level. Implications: This study shows that cement accounts for the majority of the total CO2 emissions for concrete production. Therefore, much focus placed on improving the cement production with consideration to CO2 emissions is necessary. This does not mean that less focus should aim on research for green transport, insulation production and steelmaking. All productions stages have potential for improvement. Hence, it is important to continue the research to reduce the total CO2 emissions in the production of prefabricated concrete elements. Limitations: The study was limited to the manufacturing process of prefabricated concrete. A specific project HUS F was analysed for CO2 emissions in four production stages; concrete, reinforcement, insulation materials and transport. / Syfte: Den globala betongkonsumtionen uppgår årligen till 25 gigaton vilket gör den till det mest använda byggnadsmaterialet (Petek, Masanet, Horvath &amp; Stadel, 2014). Den fortsatt ökande världspopulationen i samband med urbaniseringen kommer att leda till en större efterfrågan av cement. Problemet med den ökade tillverkningsprocessen av cement är att koldioxidutsläppen år 2020 kommer att stå för 10-15 % av de globala CO2-utsläppen, jämfört med värdena uppmätta år 2016 på cirka 5–8 % (Habert &amp; Ouellet-Plamondon, 2016). Målet med examensarbetet är att analysera skeden i tillverkningsprocessen av prefabricerad betong ur miljösynpunkt med avseende på CO2-utsläpp för att sedan kunna komma med konkreta förbättringsåtgärder alternativt enbart bidra med nyttig kunskap för betongindustrins framtid. Skedena som analyseras är transporter samt betong-, armering- och cellplasttillverkning. Metod: Metoderna som valdes för genomförandet av examensarbetet var Litteraturstudie samt Intervju. Litteraturstudien gjordes i syfte att fördjupa författarna i ämnet samt insamling av diverse resultat från aktuell forskning. Intervjuerna som genomfördes bidrog till nödvändig information för att kunna genomföra analyserna i arbetet. Resultat: Examensarbetet har resulterat i totala CO2-utsläpp i fyra olika skeden i betongtillverkningsprocessen. Cement visade sig vara den absolut största bidragande faktorn till CO2-utsläpp. Det finns flera olika åtgärder för att minska CO2-utsläppet i betongtillverkningsprocessen. De åtgärder som diskuteras flitigast berör cementtilllverkningen vilket är gynnsamt för betongtillverkningen som helhet. Diskussionen framhäver även åtgärder som kan vidtas på en betongfabriks nivå. Konsekvenser: Det konstaterades i denna studie att cement står för majoriteten av det totala CO2-utsläppet i betongproduktionen. Därför bör mycket fokus läggas vid förbättring av cementtillverkningsprocessen med avseende på CO2-utsläpp. Detta innebär inte att mindre fokus skall läggas vid forskning för miljövänligare transport, isolering- och stålproduktion. Samtliga områden bör förbättras och potential finns definitivt att hämta vid alla produktionsskeden. Begränsningar: Studien avgränsades till tillverkningsprocessen av prefabricerad betong. Ett specifikt projekt HUS F analyserades med avseende på CO2-utsläpp i fyra tillverkningsskeden; betong, armering, cellplast samt transport.

Μοντελοποίηση, έλεγχος και διάγνωση σφαλμάτων κινητήριου συστήματος αποτελούμενου από δύο ασύγχρονες μηχανές με κοινό φορτίο κλίβανο τσιμεντοβιομηχανίας

Το κεφάλαιο 1 αποτελεί εισαγωγή του αναγνώστη σε θέματα που αφορούν τα ηλεκτρικά κινητήρια συστήματα. Αρχικά πραγματοποιείται μια σύντομη ιστορική αναδρομή και περιγραφή της εξέλιξης αυτών, ενώ στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζονται οι θεματικές ενότητες που αποτελούν τη συμβολή της παρούσας διατριβής όπως ο έλεγχος των κινητήριων συστημάτων και η διάγνωση σφαλμάτων σε αυτά. Τέλος, υπογραμμίζονται οι στόχοι που ορίστηκαν και εκπληρώνονται στο πλαίσιο της εργασίας αυτής. Στο κεφάλαιο 2 γίνεται μια γενική περιγραφή των σταδίων παραγωγής τσιμέντου, παρουσιάζεται η χαρακτηριστική ροπής-στροφών του κλιβάνου με βάση τη διαθέσιμη βιβλιογραφία, αναλύονται λεπτομερώς οι τοπολογίες συστημάτων μετάδοσης που εγκαθίστανται σε κλιβάνους μικρής και μεγάλης παραγωγικής δύναμης, αναδεικνύονται οι προδιαγραφές που υφίστανται κατά την επιλογή των ηλεκτρικών κινητήριων μηχανών και τέλος τονίζονται οι απαιτήσεις του ελέγχου των κινητήριων μηχανών, έτσι όπως τίθενται από τη βιομηχανία τσιμέντου. Στο κεφάλαιο 3 περιγράφεται το μαθηματικό μοντέλο που αναπτύχθηκε και χρησιμοποιήθηκε για την προσομοίωση της λειτουργίας του συστήματος και το οποίο απαρτίζεται από τα επιμέρους μοντέλα του κλιβάνου, του συστήματος μετάδοσης της κίνησης, των τριφασικών ασύγχρονων μηχανών, των ηλεκτρονικών μετατροπέων ισχύος καθώς και του ελέγχου των κινητήριων μηχανών. Στο κεφάλαιο 4 περιγράφονται τα υποσυστήματα του υπό κλίμακα συστήματος με σκοπό την εξομοίωση, που κατασκευάστηκε στο εργαστήριο με στόχο την επαλήθευση των αποτελεσμάτων της προσομοίωσης στον ηλεκτρονικό υπολογιστή. Στο κεφάλαιο 5 γίνεται λεπτομερής αναφορά στις υφιστάμενες τεχνικές ελέγχου των τριφασικών ασύγχρονων μηχανών και στις εφαρμογές αυτών σε μονά και διπλά κινητήρια συστήματα. Στη συνέχεια πραγματοποιείται σύγκριση δύο εκ των επικρατέστερων μεθόδων ελέγχου διπλών κινητήριων συστημάτων και παρουσιάζονται ενδεχόμενες δυσλειτουργίες αυτών λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τα αποτελέσματα που προέκυψαν από την προσομοίωση του συστήματος και τα οποία πιστοποιούνται μέσω της πειραματικής διαδικασίας αλλά και της διαθέσιμης βιβλιογραφίας. Στη συνέχεια προτείνεται ένας καινοτόμος υβριδικός έλεγχος που, όπως αποδεικνύεται μέσω προσομοίωσης αλλά και πειραματικών αποτελεσμάτων, αντιμετωπίζει αποτελεσματικά τις προαναφερθείσες δυσλειτουργίες οδηγώντας σε ομαλή λειτουργία του συστήματος. Στο κεφάλαιο 6 προτείνεται, αντί των υφιστάμενων μεθόδων που περιλαμβάνουν την εγκατάσταση επιταχυνσιομέτρων, τη χρήση ακουστικών σημάτων και άλλων παρόμοιων μεθόδων, η χρήση της ηλεκτρικής κινητήριας μηχανής (τριφασικής ασύγχρονης μηχανής στην προκειμένη περίπτωση) ως αισθητήριο μέσο για τη διάγνωση μηχανολογικών σφαλμάτων στις οδοντώσεις γραναζιών. Συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζεται η επίδραση των εν λόγω σφαλμάτων στο φάσμα συχνοτήτων του φασικού ρεύματος και της ηλεκτρομαγνητικής ροπής της τριφασικής ασύγχρονης μηχανής, αποδεικνύεται η δυνατότητα διάγνωσης του σφάλματος ανιχνεύοντας την ύπαρξη πολλαπλών αρμονικών στο φάσμα τόσο του φασικού ρεύματος όσο και της ηλεκτρομαγνητικής ροπής. Στο κεφάλαιο 7 γίνεται μια εκτίμηση σε ό,τι αφορά τη συμβολή της διδακτορικής διατριβής, το κεφάλαιο 8 περιλαμβάνει μία ανά κεφάλαιο περίληψη της παρούσας διατριβής ενώ το κεφάλαιο 9 περιέχει τη διαθέσιμη βιβλιογραφία που χρησιμοποιήθηκε στην παρούσα εργασία κατά τη σειρά αναφοράς της στο κείμενο. / This thesis deals with the modeling, the control and the diagnosis of mechanical faults in a dual ac drive with common mechanical load. Chapter 1 constitutes an introduction of the reader to the electrical drive systems. Initially, a short historical retrospection of these systems is realized, while afterwards the thematic units that constitute the contributions of the present thesis, which can be summarized as the control of a dual cement kiln drive and the diagnosis of mechanical gear faults using the ac motor as a sensor, are presented. In chapter 2 the specifications and the operational characteristics of the kiln drive system are presented based on the industrial requirements and the existing references. Particularly the torque – speed characteristic load curve of the kiln, the advantages of upgrading the dc drives with ac ones, the parameters which determine the decision of installing a single or a dual transmission system and the need of uninterrupted operation of the kiln drive are underlined. In addition the step by step development of a simulating model of the under study system in the Matlab/Simulink environment is presented in chapter 3. Particularly the equations of motion for the kiln and the transmission system, the dynamic model equations of the asynchronous motor, the power electronics converters and the control strategy based on the Direct Torque Control have been incorporated in the Matlab/Simulink environment through which a theoretical investigation is realized. Moreover, the design and the development of an under scale laboratory simulating system of the kiln drive has been realized and the characteristics of the design specifications of the laboratory system are presented in chapter 4. Using the theoretical model developed in the Matlab/Simulink environment and the laboratory simulating system, a comparison of the existing control methods used for the electric drive systems (speed control and torque control) is being presented (chapter 5), focusing at specific malfunctions which can be caused by the application of these controls at a dual cement kiln drive. Taking into account these malfunctions, a novel hybrid control method is being presented whose operation is based on the application of a parallel-hybrid speed and torque control, simultaneously at both electric motors. In this way an equal load distribution can be achieved, obviating at the same the appearance of mechanical malfunctions. In chapter 6, the fault diagnosis of electromechanical drives is referenced, focusing on the identification of mechanical faults appeared in the pinion/girth gear coupling using the ac motor as a sensor. The proposed diagnostic method is based on the detection of multiples of the defective frequency at both phase current and electromagnetic torque frequency spectrum. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified using experimental results from the laboratory simulating system, operating as a single drive. Finally, chapter 7, 8 and 9 include an estimation of the thesis contribution, a summary and the reference part respectively.

[pt] Os problemas à saúde acarretados pela exposição às fibras minerais do amianto (asbesto) têm motivado esforços para a substituição destas fibras nos diversos componentes que as empregam como matéria prima. Devido às propriedades físicas e mecânicas e estabilidade química do amianto, bem como sua afinidade natural com a matriz cimentícia, o cimento- amianto é um compósito com excepcionais características de resistência e durabilidade a um custo relativamente baixo. Tais características fazem da busca por um reforço alternativo ao asbesto um desafio, mobilizando indústria e pesquisadores desde a década de 70. Neste contexto, considerando sua disponibilidade e características mecânicas, as fibras celulósicas se mostram como alternativa viável, tendo sido empregadas industrialmente como reforço em fibrocimentos há mais de duas décadas. Entretanto, mesmo com a industrialização, alguns aspectos de seu comportamento, principalmente aqueles relacionados à durabilidade, são ainda foco de intensos esforços de pesquisa (no Brasil, o estudo do emprego de fibras celulósicas como alternativa ao amianto teve início em 79, com os trabalhos pioneiros realizados na PUC-Rio). Considerando os principais mecanismos causadores de degradação nos fibrocimentos, todos eles relacionados ao transporte de fluidos pela rede porosa do material, tem-se que o principal método empregado para melhoria nas características de durabilidade é a substituição parcial do cimento por aditivos com alto teor de sílica amorfa finamente moídos. As melhores características assim obtidas decorrem de modificações na estrutura da matriz e, principalmente, da interface. A casca de arroz, é um resíduo agrícola produzido em grande quantidade no Brasil. Quando não empregada como combustível no próprio eneficiamento do arroz ou em outras atividades rurais, a casca de arroz é disposta sem qualquer controle, apresentando-se assim como um problema ambiental. Entretanto, se queimada em condições controladas, a casca de arroz resulta em cinza, CCA, com alto teor de sílica (80- 90 por cento) altamente amorfa, apresentando boa reatividade com o cimento. Portanto, a CCA foi empregada neste trabalho como material de substituição parcial do cimento em compósitos reforçados por polpas de bambu, buscando com isso melhorar as características relacionadas à durabilidade destes fibrocimentos. Foi observado que o emprego de até 30 por cento de CCA com baixo teor de carbono como substituição parcial do cimento resultou em um substancial decréscimo na porosidade da matriz e interface do compósito. Por conseqüência, estes compósitos apresentaram permeabilidade significativamente inferior à daqueles produzidos sem CCA. Com o emprego de CCA com alto teor de carbono (simulando a cinza obtida de queima não controlada, como a realizada no beneficiamento do arroz) é possível obter resultados semelhantes, uma vez que o compósito seja submetido à cura acelerada em autoclave. Neste caso, devem ser empregadas taxas ainda maiores de substituição parcial do cimento por CCA, com os melhores resultados observados em compósitos cujas matrizes compunham-se por 50 por cento da CCA. Além destes aspectos intimamente ligados aos principais mecanismos de degradação dos compósitos, foi observado que a CCA também favorece a aderência interfacial nos compósitos, acarretando em maior resistência mecânica. / [en] Asbestos is regarded as a hazardous material since the 60 s, motivating the efforts for the replacement of these mineral fibres in the vast range of materials in which they are applied as a raw material. Asbestos-cement was the first building material produced in large scale applying natural fibres as reinforcement in cement-based materials. Due the physical and mechanical behaviour and chemical stability of asbestos fibres, as well as their natural affinity with the cementitious matrix, asbestos-cement presents remarkable strength and durability, associated to a relative low cost. Such characteristics make the search for a suitable replacement to asbestos in fibre-cements a challenge, mobilizing industry and researchers since the early 70 s. Considering their availability and mechanical strength, cellulose fibres have proven to be a viable alternative to asbestos, being employed by the industry as reinforcement in fibre-cements for more than two decades. However, in spite of their well established production and commercialization in many parts of the world, some aspects of the cellulose-cement composites behaviour still motivates research efforts, which are mainly focused on durability aspects. The main deterioration mechanisms acting in cellulose-cement composites are all related to fluid transport within the pore network of the composites and the most applied treatment method is the partial replacement of cement by finely ground admixtures with high active silica content. The improvements in the durability aspects of composites are achieved by modifying the characteristics of the matrix and, mainly, the interfacial region. Rice husk is an agricultural residue produced in large scale in Brazil. If not applied as fuel in the rice mills or in others rural activities, the rice husk is disposed without control, resulting in an ecological problem. However, the pyrolysis of rice husk yields ash with high silica content, (80-90 percent). When burned in a proper way, this silica remains amorphous, presenting high reactivity with cement. Due to these characteristics rice husk ash, RHA, is applied in this PUC-Rio - Certificação Digital No 9924941/CA research as the treatment method in cement composites reinforced by bamboo pulp. It was observed that blended cement with up to 30 percent RHA with low carbon content resulted in a significant decrease in the porosity of the matrix and interface of the composite. As a consequence, these blended-cement composites presented water permeability expressively lower than that of the composites produced without RHA. High carbon content RHA was also applied, simulating the use of ash obtained by a non-controlled burning process. Similar results as those observed in composites with low-carbon-content RHA were achieved, once accelerated autoclave curing was applied to the composites. In this case, for better composite properties, higher RHA content must be used, with the best results being observed in composites with 50 percent RHA. Also, besides these aspects closely related to the main deterioration mechanisms of the composites, it was observed that RHA enhances the fiber-matrix interaction in the interface, improving the mechanical behaviour of the composites.

O processo de beneficiamento do arroz gera grande quantidade de casca, estes resíduos são, geralmente, depositados em terrenos ou lançados em cursos d'água, ocasionando degradações ambientais, devido à lenta biodegradação. O seu aproveitamento na construção civil, como produto alternativo, pode contribuir para a conservação e a preservação do meio ambiente. Este trabalho tem por objetivo o estudo da durabilidade de blocos de solo-cimento com a incorporação de casca de arroz. Os ensaios foram realizados com auxílio de ciclos de molhagem e secagem, para avaliar a durabilidade dos blocos convencionais e alternativos incorporados com casca de arroz. Os resultados obtidos indicam que o aumento do teor de casca de arroz, eleva o valor de absorção de água, diminui a resistência à compressão simples, aumenta a perda de massa e a variação de volume, devido o grande volume de vazios apresentados pela casca de arroz e a falta de interação entre o sistema solo-cimento e casca de arroz. Os ensaios de durabilidade pelo método de degradação acelerada e os ensaios de caracterização mineralógica realizados com os blocos alternativos de solo-cimento incorporados com casca de arroz indicaram a composição de 10% de cimento mais a combinação de 86% solo e 4% de casca de arroz, ideal para a fabricação de blocos de alvenaria para construção civil. / The accelerated process of modernization in the agricultural industry has contributed to the signrficant increase in the generation of agricultural residues that cause damage to the environment. The beneficiation process generates large quantities of rice husk, these wastes are usually deposited on land or thrown into streams, causing environmental degradation due to slow bíodegradation. Its use in construction, such as alternative product, can contribute to the conservation and preservation of the environment. This work aims to study the durability of soil-cement with the addition of rice husk. The tests were carried out usíng cycles of wettíng and drying, to evaluate the durability of conventional and alternative blocks embedded with rice husk. The results indicate that increasing the amount of rice husk, raises the value of water absorption, decreases the compressive strength, increases the loss of mass and volume change, due to the large volume of voids produced by rice husk and lack of interaction between the soil-cement and rice husk. Durability testing by the method of accelerated degradation and mineralogical characterization tests performed with the alternative blocks of soil-cement íncorporated with rice husk indicated the composítion of 10% cement plus the combination of soil and 4% 86% peei rice, ideal for the manufacture of masonry blocks for construction.

Estudo de misturas solo cimento agregado reciclado de telhas cerâmicas para fabricação de blocos para alvenaria / Study of soil-cement recycled aggregate of ceramic tiles for the manufacture of masonry blocks

This work aimed to study the incorporation of ceramic residues of tiles crushed in the soilcement mixture in the manufacture of hollow blocks, justified by the amount of these wastes generated by the ceramic tile industry, with potential for recycling. This study aimed to determine a molding energy in laboratory compatible with that of the hydraulic presses of the factory. The DNER-ME 258:1994 test method compacted soils miniature equipment Mini-MCV were used , observing that it is possible to mold bodies of proof in laboratory with ASDM apparent specific dry mass compatible with that of the hollow blocks produced in the factory. Four lots of soil-cement hollow blocks were produced, whose tests allowed to choose the most appropriate mixture, the desired value of ASDM and the number of compatible blows. The ASDM of soil-cement bodies and the blocks were compared, and there was compatibility of values. To study mixtures with the RTA Recycled Tile Aggregate the optimization methodology of the volumes of materials was used in order to fill the gaps in the aggregate with compacted soil-cement. Starting from the gap indices of the aggregate containing cement and the pure aggregate the work began with two soil-cement aggregate mixtures. By projection, other mixtures resulted from these, which, after tests, allowed to select the most adequate. Using this one, hollow blocks were manufactured, whose test results met the standard with regard to strength, but not to water absorption. To reduce the absorption, a waterproofing additive, a stabilizer and an Aloe Vera extract were inserted in the mixture, whose bodies of proof tests registered values within the normative limits in 2 cases. Hollow blocks using the most favorable mix amount were produced, whose tests attended the strength requirements, but not the absorption ones. The results obtained indicate the feasibility of the methods, and that RTA can be used for manufacturing hollow blocks, although this depends on the pressing capability of the factory. / Esta pesquisa objetivou estudar a incorporação de resíduos de telhas cerâmicas britados na mistura solo cimento, para fabricação de blocos vazados, justificada pela quantidade desses resíduos gerados pelas indústrias de telhas cerâmicas, com potencial para reciclagem. Neste estudo procurou-se estabelecer uma energia de moldagem em laboratório compatível com a das prensas hidráulicas da fábrica. Utilizou-se o método de ensaio DNER-ME 258:1994 Solos compactados em equipamento miniatura Mini-MCV, observando-se que é possível moldar em laboratório corpos de prova com MEAS - massa específica aparente seca compatível com a dos blocos vazados produzidos na fábrica. Produziu-se 4 lotes de blocos vazados de solo cimento, cujos ensaios permitiram escolher a mistura mais adequada, o valor desejado da MEAS e o número de golpes compatível. Comparou-se as MEAS dos corpos de prova e dos blocos de solo cimento, houve compatibilidade de valores. Para o estudo das misturas com o ART - agregado reciclado de telha utilizou-se a metodologia de otimização dos volumes dos materiais, de forma a preencher os vazios do agregado com solo cimento compactado. A partir dos índices de vazios do agregado com cimento e do agregado puro iniciou-se o trabalho com duas misturas solo cimento agregado. Destas, por projeção resultaram outras misturas, que após ensaios permitiu selecionar a mais adequada. Com esta, fabricou-se blocos vazados cujos resultados dos ensaios atenderam a norma quanto à resistência, mas não quanto à absorção de água. Para reduzir a absorção, inseriu-se na mistura, aditivo impermeabilizante, estabilizante e extrato de Aloe vera, cujos ensaios dos corpos de prova acusaram valores dentro dos limites normativos para 2 casos. Produziu-se blocos vazados com a dosagem mais favorável, que ensaiados, atenderam aos requisitos de resistência, mas não de absorção. Os resultados obtidos indicam a viabilidade dos métodos e que o ART pode ser utilizado na fabricação de blocos vazados, mas depende da capacidade de prensagem da fábrica. / Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica

O uso de fibras lignocelulósicas em compósitos de cimento, aliados a cura em atmosferas com excesso de CO2 para promover processos de carbonatação acelerada são potenciais tecnologias para desenvolvimento de materiais sustentáveis que fixam CO2. O presente estudo avaliou o potencial da fibra de curauá para aplicação em compósitos, bem como comparou fibrocimento com reforço de curauá (FCR) com fibrocimento com reforço de polipropileno (FPP), e estudou os efeitos da cura térmica, da cura em atmosfera com excesso de CO2, e a durabilidade ao longo de 100 ciclos de envelhecimento acelerado nesses compósitos. Para avaliar o potencial da fibra, foi realizada a análise anatômica foliar com intuito de analisar o arranjo, as funções e a morfologia das fibras na folha. Também foram determinadas: influência de comprimentos 20 e 40 mm nas variáveis mecânicas; e propriedades de massa específica; teores químicos e análise térmicas da fibra. Para os fibrocimentos, foram quantificadas propriedades de densidade aparente, porosidade aparente e absorção de água e variáveis mecânica módulo de ruptura, módulo de elasticidade, limite de proporcionalidade e energia específica. Também foram feitas as caracterizações mineralógicas por meio do DRX e microestrutural por MEV. A análise foliar evidenciou três classes de estruturas fibrilares denominadas genericamente como \"fibras\", sendo fibras de reforço primário (FP), fibras de reforço secundário (FS) e fibras associadas aos feixes vasculares (FV). A fibra de 40 mm atingiu melhor comportamento mecânico em relação a 20 mm e os comprimentos influenciam os valores de módulo de Young e módulo de Weibull. A análise química das fibras indicou altos teores de alfacelulose (68%) e extrativos (3,8%) e baixos teores de hemicelulose (10%) e lignina (13%). A análise termogravimétrica demonstrou que as estruturas de hemiceluloses e celuloses iniciam a degradação acima de 200ºC. Os resultados dos fibrocimentos indicaram que a cura em atmosfera com excesso de CO2, proporcionou melhorias nas propriedades mecânicas e físicas em FCR e FPP em relação a cura térmica. O processo de envelhecimento acelerado de 100 ciclos melhorou as propriedades da matriz em FCR e FPP, em ambas as curas. Em FCR a carbonatação acelerada melhorou a durabilidade dos compósitos. A fibra de curauá tem potencial para ser utilizada como reforço de materiais cimentícios, embora apresente limitações por ser instável dimensionalmente, sendo necessários tratamentos adicionais para superar esse problema. A carbonatação acelerada promovida pela cura em atmosfera com excesso de CO2 melhorou a durabilidade e propriedades físicas e mecânicas dos fibrocimentos. / The use of lignocellulosic fibers in cement composites with curing to promote accelerated carbonation is a promising technology for the development of sustainable materials to fix CO2. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of curauá fiber for use in composites and to compare fiber cement composite reinforcing with curauá (FCR) and cement reinforcing with polypropylene (FPP). In addition, to study the effects of thermal curing, curing in an atmosphere of excess CO2 and the durability over 100 cycles of accelerated aging in these composites. The potential of the curauá fibers was evaluated by leaf anatomical analysis to characterize their arrangement, function and morphology of the fibers\' leaves. The influence of their length (20 and 40mm) were also determined by the mechanical tests, specific mass properties, chemical contents and thermal analysis of the fibers. In the analysis of the fiber cement the density properties, porosity, water absorption, modulus of rupture (MOR), the modulus of elasticity, the limit of proportionality (LOP) and specific energy were measured. The mineralogical and microstructural characterizations were also carried out by DRX and MEV respectively. Foliar analysis showed three classes of fibrillar structures called generically as \"fibers\", with primary reinforcing fibers (PF), secondary reinforcement fibers (FS) and fibers associated with vascular bundles (FV). The 40 mm fiber showed a better mechanical behavior compared to 20 mm fiber, and the length has influenced Young\'s modulus values and Weibull modulus. The chemical analysis of the fibers has demonstrated high levels of alfacellulose (68%) and extractives (3.8%), and low hemicellulose (10%) and lignin (13%) content. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that the structures of celluloses and hemicelluloses started the degradation above 200°C. The fiber cement curing in an atmosphere with excess of CO2 provided improvements in mechanical and physical properties and for FCR and FPP when compared to thermal curing. The accelerated aging test was performed with 100 soak & dry cycles and showed improved performance of the matrix and for both fibers thru pores refinement. The curauá fiber has potential to be used as reinforcement of cementitious materials, although it has some limitations because it is dimensionally unstable, requiring additional treatments to overcome this problem. Accelerated carbonation promoted by curing in an atmosphere of excess CO2 enhanced the physical durability and the mechanical properties of the fiber cements.

Laboratory tests were conducted to prove the influence of the variability of the aggregates and the effect of Portland cement content in the dosage of recycled cold mixtures using mechanical behavior results as evaluation criteria in order to certify the technical quality of recycling layer base. The design of the passages in the experimental track allowed the determination of the flexible pavement recycling methods in situ with the mobile plant KMA 200 and the Wirtgen 2500S equipment for recycling. The monitoring the implementation, by companies, helped to understand the advantages and limitations the set of equipment employed in both recycling techniques of the experimental lane. The monitoring of experimental sections, during and after the construction process, allowed to verify that the cold recycling solution of flexible pavement for technical study, is beneficial to the structural and functional condition thereof. / Esta pesquisa avaliou duas técnicas de reciclagem a frio de pavimentos flexíveis in situ com adição de cimento Portland (CP II E 32) para camada de base, por meio de análises dos resultados de ensaios laboratoriais e avaliações de trechos experimentais executados na Rodovia Visconde de Porto Seguro/SP, denominada de SP 332, sob a concessão do DER-SP. Os ensaios laboratoriais foram conduzidos a fim de comprovar a influência da variabilidade dos agregados e o efeito do teor de cimento Portland na dosagem de misturas recicladas a frio, utilizando resultados de comportamento mecânico como parâmetros de avaliação para atestar a qualidade técnica da reciclagem da camada de base. A concepção dos trechos na pista experimental permitiu determinar os métodos de reciclagem do pavimento flexível in situ com a usina móvel KMA 200 e com a recicladora Wirtgen 2500 S. O acompanhamento da execução, pelas empresas fomentadoras, contribuiu para compreender as vantagens e limitações do conjunto de equipamentos empregados nas duas técnicas de reciclagem da pista experimental. O monitoramento dos trechos experimentais, durante o processo construtivo e posterior a execução, permitiu verificar que a solução de reciclagem a frio do pavimento flexível para as técnicas em estudo, é benéfica para a condição estrutural e funcional dos mesmos.
